All I wanted was this town's respect. But just because these people treated me crummy doesn't mean I'm gonna do the same to them. I'm done with this. I don’t care if they've broken the law. You can't treat people like this!
~ Anne Boonchuy

Give him back. Give... him... BACK!
~ Anne after thinking Sprig was killed
Game on you stinky space bugs!
~ Anne after acquiring the full Calamity Box powers
Don't cry, Sprig. It's okay. Saving this world was the best decision I've ever made. My only regret is that... I never... got to see Love Choice 2.
~ Anne Boonchuy to Sprig Plantar

Change can be difficult, but it's how we grow. It can be the hardest thing to realize you can't hold on to something forever. Sometimes, you have to let it go; but, of the things you let go, you'd be surprised what makes its way back to you.

Background

Anne Boonchuy is the main protagonist of Amphibia. She is a 13-year-old Thai-American human girl in 7th grade who stole the Calamity Box for her friends Sasha and Marcy on her 13th birthday; the same night that took them to the mystical and dangerous world of Amphibia.

While lost on a strange continent in the shape of a lily pad, Anne finds a new best friend, an enthusiastic young 10-year-old frog named Sprig Plantar. Together they start seeking adventures and exploring the secrets of the world of Amphibia. Anne and her new froggy family try to uncover the mystery behind the Calamity Box and a way to get Anne back home, along with trying to find her two other friends who were transported with her.

General Information

Name: Anne Boonchuy

Origin: Amphibia

Sex: Female

Age: 13, 23 at the end of the series (10 years have passed since the events of the show), will die at 91 (The Guardian noted to Anne at 13 that he could wait 78 more years for her to return back to the afterlife, implying she will die at 91)

Classification: The Beast, Monster from the Woods, Student of Saint James Middle School

Species: Human

Occupation: Herpetologist (At the end of the series, Anne becomes a herpetologist and works at the Aquarium of the Pacific where she is in charge of a frog exhibit named Amphibia)

Status: Other (Anne's original body is deceased after using the full power of all 3 stones, however the Guardian made a new body for her to come back to life, though technically the clone Anne is a "backup" Anne, being an exact copy of her with the same memories, thoughts and appearance of the original, meaning the actual Anne is still technically dead)

Alignment: Initially Chaotic Neutral (Noted that she initially didn't care about if she did good or bad things as long as she got to take the easy way), eventually Neutral Good (Noted by The Guardian, a cosmic watcher of the multiverse, that Anne is the only person to commit a selfless act with the Calamity Box and that she's worthy of replacing him as the next guardian. Sacrificed her life to save all of her friends, along with agreeing to use the calamity box's powers to stop the moon from crashing into Amphibia even though it would potentially make it impossible for Anne and her friends to return home)

Powers and Techniques

Human Achievements (In "Lily Pad Thai", she was seen being proficient in culinary-related activities; having a vast knowledge of her own culture's cuisine. It was also stated that her parents owned a Thai restaurant back in her hometown. It can also be stated that she can be a professional waitress as she can persuade customers to eat at Stumpy's restaurant and acquire each customer's needs like delivering food and refilling drinks. She can also cook better than Hop Pop that as he once stated before eating Anne's homemade omelet that he was eating "garbage" all this time, it can also be a callback to how he always loose at the food competition when he submits his own food as an entry), Martial Arts (In "Ivy on the Run", Anne is shown to be a Muay Thai practitioner, as she dodges Polly's reckless headfirst attacks with ease and is able to counter-attack her, plus spar well with Wally), Weapon Mastery and Penetration Damage (Physical Penetration; Has been trained by Tritonio on how to use a sword in combat and ultimately acquired Tritonio's ancestral sword. Has displayed natural skill with the sword against Sasha, ultimately defeating her before Tritonio trained her), Supernatural Protection & Alternate Replacements (Whenever Anne dies, the Guardian will create a new body for her to use to enter back into life due to their agreement that Anne will become the next guardian once she's matured), Rage Power & Superhuman Physical Characteristics (When Anne enters a state of enough anger her eyes will briefly flash blue giving her enhanced strength allowing her to briefly hold back the attack of a supersized praying mantis, defeating a giant vegetable possessed monster), Transformation (Partial Transformation; When Anne activates her calamity power, her eyes and hair change into a neon blue color, with twigs and branches left in her hair becoming permanent wooden horns. Also, the leaves flow around in her hair and around her. It's also possible that her former clothing is now a part of this form, as seen in the Season 3 intro when Anne changes into this form when she's wearing different clothes). Limited Resistance to Gravity Manipulation (In "The Third Temple", she is able to resist the gravitational pull better than Marcy and the amphibians)

All previous powers and abilities, Superhuman Physical Characteristics (Her connection with the gem has massively increased her human abilities, allowing her to deliver more powerful strikes and made her more durable against enemies that would significantly injure her standard form. She was also incredibly agile while fighting foes, as seen in the second season's finale and intro for the third season), Aura (Anne’s transformation leaves a blue aura around her), Pseudo-Teleportation & Pseudo-Flight (Anne had the power to vanish and reappear within seconds when battling King Andrias in his castle along with being able to move rapidly while mid-air. During the fight where her powers emerged, the projectiles seemed to freeze around her as she teleported, her powers also allow her to give off the illusion of flying), Energy Manipulation (In this state, Anne can generate multiple blasts of blue lightning powerful enough to make Andrias' Frog-Bots and castle pillars explode when hit. She can also create a blue aura that seems to act as a propulsion boost for her agility), Telekinesis (Can telekinetically control objects to move them around and whisk them away. When Anne was fighting Andrias while he was in his mech-suit, she was able to locate her sword (which was stuck to a Frobot) and bring it back to her from a far distance with her mind), Weapon Creation, Curtain Fire, Transmutation, & Homing Attack (Anne has the power to create any object of her choosing out solid blue energy. During her fight against the Core, Anne created a large tennis racket and tennis ball out of pure energy. The tennis ball would later transform into homing energy missiles in the form of kittens that yield incredible destructive power), Technology Manipulation (As seen in "Escape to Amphibia", Anne can use her raw energy of her blue state to power machines. Ally and Jess describe Anne in this state as being a "human battery," when she uses her power to strengthen and increase of the size of the portal to Amphibia), Empowerment (As seen in "All In", Anne infused her sword with her energy, causing it to glow in the same blue color. Doing this increased the durability and overall effectiveness of her sword), Power Bestowal (According to Mother Olm in her titular episode, Anne has the ability to restore Sasha and Marcy's Calamity Box Powers. The process was done via Anne, along with Sasha and Marcy to focus on their love for Amphibia, allowing the Calamity Gems to resonate with their hearts and grant them their full power)

Portal Creation and Dimensional Travel (In "A Day at the Aquarium", King Andrias reveals that his ancestors used the Calamity Box to travel to other worlds. Anne, Sasha, and Marcy use a small portion of the Calamity Box's power to create a portal to Earth in "The Hardest Thing"), Empowerment and Transformation (Partial Transformation; The Calamity Box grants Anne her powers and can empower her with a blue-synergy form. In "The Hardest Thing", Anne, Sasha, and Marcy were all able to transform using the Calamity Box's powers into a far more powerful state than before by stacking its energy)

Equipment

  • Tritonio's Ancestral Sword: Tritonio's ancestral sword is a weapon currently in possession by Anne Boonchuy after the previous owner, Tritonio, offered it to her as a present in the episode "Combat Camp". It is a sword she uses in combat that she's been well-trained in by Tritonio.
  • Tennis Racket: Anne's tennis racket is a pink tennis racket used by Anne for tennis at her school back in Los Angeles, California, USA, Earth. It since has been used as a weapon by her, even after given a sword from Tritonio in "Combat Camp".

Optional Equipment

  • Calamity Box: The Calamity Box is a music box invented long ago by Valeriana that, using the Calamity Gems' power, can enable interdimensional travel to Earth, Amphibia and other dimensions. It was later held in the store Thrift Stop before being stolen by Anne (unwillingly) on her 13th birthday. Anne formed a connection with the Calamity Box that allows her to use its power to transform.

Notable Techniques

  • Resourcefulness: In the episode "Anne or Beast?", she's able to craft both a rope trap which traps Sprig quite effectively and a wooden spear by herself after getting stuck in Amphibia. She also utilizes the weaknesses of her opponent such as the sun in "Combat Camp" to blind Tritonio and Sasha's cape to blind her in "True Colors".
  • Cooking: Anne is skilled at fusion cooking and cutting food. In "Lily Pad Thai," she was seen being proficient in culinary-related activities; having a vast knowledge of her own culture's cuisine. It was also stated that her parents owned a Thai restaurant back in her hometown. It can also be stated that she can be a professional waitress as she can persuade customers to eat at Stumpy's restaurant and acquire each customer's needs like delivering food and refilling drinks. She can also cook better than Hop Pop that as he once stated before eating Anne's homemade omelet that he was eating "garbage" all this time, it can also be a callback to how he'd always lose at the food competition when he submits his own food as an entry. In "If You Give a Frog a Cookie", she is able to bake cookies which her mother says are delicious (at least until it was discovered that she put bugs in them).
  • Athleticism: Anne has been shown to be a natural athlete, claiming to have played varsity and practiced bouldering in school. In "The Big Bugball Game", she quickly becomes the star player of the team and is able to help them win the annual Bugball game. She is also able to use her skills in combat as well, holding her own stand against Toad Soldiers in "Toad Tax" and other threats throughout the show. In "The Third Temple", she is able to resist the gravitational pull better than Marcy and the amphibians as well as swing a warhammer quite easily which she claims weighs around one ton.
  • Hunting: In "Anne Hunter" Anne put her self-consciousness aside in order to learn the true way of the hunter. After not listening to Sprig about the Plantar ritual, she found herself in a problem as the Plantars were captured. Anne panics and with a hallucination version of Sprig, she completes the Plantar ritual and saves the family.
  • Martial Arts: In "Ivy on the Run", Anne is shown to be a Muay Thai practitioner, as she dodges Polly's reckless headfirst attacks with ease and is able to counter-attack her, plus spar well with Wally.
  • Tennis Skills: Anne has been shown to be proficient in playing tennis and applies the skills, and her racket, to combat as shown in the theme song and various episodes of Season 1 and Season 2. However, since she hasn't really practiced she has shown to lose some of the actual playing skills she once had as Mr. Boonchuy remarks "your backhand's looking a little rusty" in "Anne-sterminator."
  • Swordsmanship: Anne has been shown to wield a sword since "Toad Tax", but received proper training in "Combat Camp" and used her newfound skill in various episodes such as "Reunion", "Handy Anne", "Return to Wartwood", "True Colors", "Fight at the Museum", and "Escape to Amphibia", along with her resourcefulness.
  • Calamity Box Powers: Anne possessed powers pertaining to the blue Calamity Gem of Heart. In "Anne or Beast?", because Anne protected Sprig for an instant, risking her safety for a stranger, she utilized a lot more strength than she normally could and in "Handy Anne" because something of significance of someone she cared about was destroyed for a few moments she had a boost in speed, agility, combat prowess and courage, even to the point of yelling at Veggierobo. Following the events of "True Colors", Anne seems to have gained the power from the blue stone of the Calamity Box, allowing her to have a different appearance like her hair turning blue along with her eyes and have multiple enhanced abilities. As shown in the events of "The New Normal", Anne's powers seemed to take a toll on her. Given that she couldn't seem to control her powers, Anne was left greatly exhausted, and claims to feel "bad" after using them. Despite the loss of stamina after using them, Anne seemed to get better control of her abilities after each use. In "The New Normal", Anne could only manifest them as blue energy around her eyes and fists and damage part of the Cloak-Bot, while in "Anne-sterminator," she manifested them as a flaring blue aura of intense energy and kicked the damaged Cloak-Bot into low orbit before it self-destructed. As seen in "Escape to Amphibia," Anne displayed some degree control of her powers, able to activate them at will and with no sign of fatigue after using them. Moreover, she released energy with greater intensity than the last two times she used them since her first return to Earth. In "Mother of Olms," it is revealed that Anne was destined to have her powers as Mother Olm state that the powers were rightfully hers from the start to save the people of Amphibia from the worst of themselves. However, Anne notes that she still can't fully control them.
    • Appearance Alteration: When Anne activates her calamity power, her eyes and hair change into a neon blue color, with twigs and branches left in her hair becoming permanent wooden horns. Also, the leaves flow around in her hair and around her. It's also possible that her former clothing is now a part of this form, as seen in the Season 3 intro when Anne changes into this form when she's wearing different clothes. However, if not using her full power, her hair will take on a darker shade, jagged and non-consistent flowing hair style.
    • Enhanced Strength, Durability, and Agility: Her connection with the blue stone massively increased her human abilities, allowing her to deliver more powerful strikes and made her more durable against enemies that would significantly injure her standard form. She was also incredibly agile while fighting foes, as seen in "True Colors" and "All In." The exact magnitude of her strength is unknown, but she was shown the power to smash sturdy material with her bare fists such as the armor of Andrias' Dyoplosaurus mech.
    • Enhanced Speed/Flash Step/Flight: The power of the stone also increased Anne's speed to supernatural levels. Anne had the power to vanish and reappear within seconds when battling King Andrias in his castle along with being able to move rapidly while mid-air. During the fight where her powers emerged, the lasers fired from Andrias' robots seemed to freeze around her as she moved, implying that she is capable of moving faster than light.
      • Instant Momentum/Sliding: As shown in the fight between her and the Cloak-Bot, Anne can quickly move on surfaces without taking a single step to the point where she leaves behind afterimages of herself.
    • Energy Manipulation: In this state, Anne can generate multiple blasts of intense blue energy powerful enough to make Andrias' Frobots and castle pillars explode when hit. She can also create a blue aura that seems to act as a propulsion boost for her agility.
      • Energy Augmentation: As seen in "Escape to Amphibia", Anne can use her raw energy of her blue state to power machines. Ally and Jess describe Anne in this state as being a "human battery," when she uses her power to strengthen and increase of the size of the portal to Amphibia.
      • Energy Infusion: As seen in "All In", Anne infused her sword with her energy, causing it to glow in the same blue color. Doing this increased the durability and overall effectiveness of her sword.
    • Power Restoration: According to Mother Olm in her titular episode, Anne has the ability to restore Sasha and Marcy's Calamity Box Powers. The process was done via Anne, along with Sasha and Marcy to focus on their love for Amphibia, allowing the Calamity Gems to resonate with their hearts and grant them their full power.
    • Telekinesis: When Anne was fighting Andrias while he was in his mech-suit, she was able to locate her sword (which was stuck to a Frobot) and bring it back to her from a far distance with her mind.
    • Full Calamity Powers: In "The Hardest Thing," Anne accessed the full extent of her powers when all three Calamity Gems were together in her final fight against The Core-controlled Moon. In this form Anne was clothed in golden armor with blue linings with gold and white boots, and blue skirt with matching cape. Moreover, her powers were far more intense than in her previous uses with them.
      • Energy Constructs: With her producing a greater amount of energy, Anne had the power to create any object of her choosing out solid blue energy. During her fight against the Core, Anne created a large tennis racket and tennis ball out of pure energy. The tennis ball would later transform into homing energy missiles in the form of kittens that yield incredible destructive power.
      • Immense Strength: Anne's strength with her full power is far greater than before. Not only could she destroy many of the Core's robots with her might, but also hold back the moon in part with Sasha and Marcy.
      • Immense Speed/Flight: With her powers boosted, Anne was much faster than before, allowing her to leave the planet's atmosphere in seconds and decimate the Core's monstrous robots.
    • Absolute Calamity Powers: When stopping the Core seemed impossible, Anne called upon the power of all three Calamity Gems by asking them to help her save Amphibia. The gems responded to her plea and imbued her with their hidden power. In this form, Anne's body brimmed with white energy, and her eyes became akin to blue stars. Sparks of the Calamity Gems' energies glimmered throughout her body, with a single spark glowing on her chest. Anne had absolute control of the gems' power, allowing her to destroy the Core-controlled moon in its entirety, but at the cost of her life.

Other

Standard Tactics:

Anne uses her combat experience and a weapon.

Anne will charge at the opponent with various attacks and shoot out energy blast.

Weaknesses: Anne is somewhat gullible, otherwise nothing notable. | Her powers can only last for a few minutes. | Through using the full power of all 3 stones, she will die.

Note: Anne, Sasha, and Marcy with the unlocked Calamity Box powers could not stop the moon core, they attempted to and failed, with King Andrias using his hundreds of robots using their full throttle to help Anne, Sasha, and Marcy push back the moon core, and even with the robots it wasn't enough. Thus they only have an unquantifiable amount of effort into pushing aiding hundreds in pushing it back.
