Background

Rudol von Stroheim is a primary ally and temporary antagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency. He is a Nazi major later turned cyborg who would aid Joseph Joestar in his battle against the Pillar Men.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Esidisi's story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Pre-Battle Tendency
Rudol von Stroheim's childhood and early life is completely unknown, however sometime in his life he joined the Nazis and became a Nazi Major. As a Nazi major Stroheim would take orders from Adolf Hitler and would be assigned to an information post in Mexico. Stroheim would be informed of the existence of the three Pillar Men in Rome during this time.

Battle Tendency (1938-1939)
After the Nazis in Mexico heard of Straizo's actions as a vampire, they would investigate the site that turned him into a vampire and would find a man embed into a pillar along with an unconscious Robert E. O. Speedwagon. The Nazis would bring the Pillar Man and Speedwagon to their information post, where Stroheim would interrogate Speedwagon and would learn about vampires and their abilities. Stroheim would then order his men to prepare the prisoners for an experiment. Stroheim would tell the prisoners that he needed to kill a man for their blood to use for an experiment and that the rest of them would be free. Right before Stroheim would take a random prisoner, a boy would volunteer to be killed in order to save the other prisoners. Stroheim, valuing the courage of the boy, would allow him to live and would kill the rest of the prisoners.

Once the preparations were taken care of, Stroheim would bring Speedwagon out to watch the experiment despite his warnings about how dangerous the Pillar Man was. Using the blood of the prisoners, Stroheim would awaken the Pillar Man and would name him Santana. Stroheim would witness Santana slip and fall and would think of him as a dumb caveman, who had no way to escape his testing chamber. Stroheim would then give orders to send out a vampire to test the abilities of the Santana and would be horrified to see Santana not only absorb the vampire through his skin but say Stroheim's name as well.

A brief amount of time later, Santana would escape his chamber despite being watched by the Nazis. The Nazis would use their cameras to watch what happened and would be shocked to find out that Santana had escaped by contorting his body to fit within a four by twenty centimeter vent. Santana would pop out of the vents and would enter a Nazi soldier's body and would begin to control him. Stroheim would order his guards to fire upon Santana who would retaliate by absorbing the bullets and firing them back. Before being blasted with bullets, a strange man would rip off Stroheim's hair and would use it to block the bullets. This man turned out to be the Hamon user Joseph Joestar, who had come to the information post to investigate the Pillar Man and save his uncle, Speedwagon.

Stroheim would witness Joseph's battle with Santana up until the point where Joseph was dragging a bisected Santana up the stairs to kill him with sunlight. Joseph, exhausted by the battle, would collapse when Santana used his Meat Invade technique to drain some of Joseph's blood. Stroheim, seeing this, would leap up the stairs to help Joseph but would be restrained by Santana's flesh. Stroheim would tell Joseph to use an mounted axe on the wall to cut his leg off. Joseph would cooperate, cutting Stroheim's leg off, allowing him to open the door. Santana would escape the sunlight by crawling into Stroheim's leg wound and would try to force him to jump in the nearby well. Stroheim would response to this by grabbing a grenade and blowing up himself to try to kill Santana. Before blowing up, Stroheim would tell Joseph that there was three more Pillar Men in Rome and that he needed to find a way to defeat them. While Santana was unharmed by the explosion, he would be defeated by Joseph.

Stroheim would survive the grenade explosion and would be turned into a cyborg by Nazi scientists. Stroheim would be fitted with weapons made to kill Pillar Men like Santana, such as grip strength nearly twice the power of Santana's, ultra-violet light based weaponry, and a machine gun inside his abdomen. Later Stroheim would be assigned to a mission that required him to learn information about Hamon and the Super Aja. Stroheim would get this information by hiring a spy to watch Lisa Lisa as she trained Joseph and Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli. Stroheim would learn that the Super Aja had been stolen and that it had been sent to St. Moritz, Switzerland and would intercept the train carrying it. While searching the train, he and the other Nazis would encounter Joseph, Caesar, Lisa Lisa, and Messina. Stroheim, while hiding his identity, would tell Joseph and the others that he had been spying on them. Stroheim would then invite the group to the Nazi's chalet for a talk.

Five hours later that same day Kars would attack the chalet and would encounter Stroheim. During the confrontation Joseph would walk into the room and would witness Stroheim blocking Kar's bone blade his with metallic hand. Stroheim would then reveal himself to Joseph, and would tell him to take a seat as he took care of Kars. Stroheim would rip a chuck of flesh out of Kars' hand and would tell him that his strength was made with Santana's power in mind. Stroheim would threaten to rip Kars into chucks before using his abdominal machine gun to blast him through a wall. Kars would then use his Light Mode technique, which would make his blade shape enough to slice through Stroheim's armor piercing rounds. Stroheim, frozen in fear, would watch as Kars sliced through him with ease. Stroheim would realize that Kars' bone blade had sharp teeth on it, which when Light Mode was activated would cause the blade to move, allowing them to cut through bullets and even his metal body. Kars would tell Stroheim that Santana was nothing but a guard dog compared him before taking the Super Aja from his pocket. Before Kars could escape, Stroheim would fire his eye beam at Kars, causing him to drop the Super Aja. As the Super Aja slid down hill Joseph and Kars would race for it with Joseph ultimately getting the Super Aja back while Kars fell down a cliff.

Stroheim would be repaired and given an better cyborg body. This new body would have better ultra-violet light weaponry on it created by the Speedwagon foundation.

When Joseph was surround by Kars' vampire army, Stroheim along with his soldiers and the Speedwagon Foundation would come to Joseph's aid and would use their new weaponry to kill the entire army, allowing Joseph to defeat Kars and save Lisa Lisa. As Kars lied on the ground, impaled by stone spikes, Stroheim and the Nazis would blast Kars with ultra-violet light, but would accidently power him up, as Kars used the Super Aja and the Stone Mask to become the ultimate being. As Kars rose from the ground he would create a vampiric squirrel from his hand, which would attack Stroheim and kill many other Nazis. Stroheim would then witness Kars being unaffected by the sun and would blame himself for Ultimate Kars' creation. As Joseph ran from Kars, Stroheim would follow and would jump onto the plane Joseph would use to lure Kars to a volcano. When the plane was heavily damaged by Kars' creations, Stroheim would fire his hand at Kars, revealing himself to Joseph. Stroheim and Joseph would jump off the crashing plane and Stroheim would grab Joseph, using his metal legs to absorb the impact of the fall, saving Joseph. Unfortunately for two for them, Kars would survive both the plane crash and falling into the lava. Kars would slice off part of Joseph's arm and would attack him with his newly gained Hamon, which vaporize and melt part of his knee. Before Kars could kill Joseph, Joseph would use the Super Aja to block Kars' attack which would cause a beam to shoot out from the stone. This beam would cause the volcano's eruption to climax and would launch the rock Joseph and Kars were standing on into the air. Stroheim would witness all of this and eight hours later would tell Joseph's family and friends that Joseph had defeated Kars but died in the process.

After the battle, Stroheim would find out Joseph had survived and while recovering would give him a robotic hand. After that Stroheim would never see Joseph again as he would die as a proud solider in the Battle of Stalingrad in the year 1943.
