''Sandbelching Meerslug

Gastropoidae anguilii

Meerslug family

This giant, limbless invertebrate has a distinctive large orifice. It sets a cone-shaped trap in its sandy lair and waits for prey to fall into it. The main orifice serves as both mouth and anus. When it inhales sand, the grains go through its intestinal canal and come out polished and hardened when they are ejected. It's sensitive to sound and vibration. The best time to catch it off guard is when it jumps out from the sand after being startled.''

~ Olimar's notes

Background

The Sandbelching Meerslug (オオスナフラシ) is the third boss in Pikmin 3, and the main boss of the Tropical Wilds. It is a light brown, amphibian-like creature resembling a lamprey, with very small eyes, thick purple lips and two rows of large, sharp teeth. Further down its body, it gets wider and harbors spike-like protrusions. It is one of the largest lifeforms on PNF-404 seen thus far, hence its main environment being a vast beach where it lurks in the sands. Upon its defeat, it will spit out the phone as well as the Crimson Banquet, which breaks into pieces upon hitting the ground.

General Information

Name: Sandbelching Meerslug

Origin: Pikmin

Sex: Varies

Age: Unknown

Classification: Sand Slug

Codex Statistics

Tier: At least 10-C

Cardinality: Finite

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: At least Subhuman level (Far superior to the likes of Alph and Charlie and can easily eat Pikmin. It can inhale entire pits of sand in seconds)

Durability: At least Subhuman level (One of the hardest enemies for Pikmin to kill and completely no-sells most Pikmin attacks. Can no-sell bomb rock explosions point blank)

Striking Strength: Unknown (It does not physically strike)

Lifting Strength: Unknown (Can effortlessly fling off a squad of Rock Pikmin)

Travel Speed: At least Superhuman, likely Supersonic (Superior to Olimar and Alph, who can maneuver and keep pace with the gunfire from Man at Legs)

Attack Speed: Supersonic (Should be comparable to lesser enemies. Can keep up with Alph and his squad)

Reaction Speed: Supersonic

Stamina: High (Can easily outmaneuver Pikmin while burrowing through the sand)

Range: Below Average Melee, Higher with Earth Manipulation

Intelligence: Animalistic (Seems to lack enough understanding to the point where if the enemy runs away or hides and are out of the Sandbelching Meerslug's sight, they will pace the surrounding area. It acts completely on instinct, but is noted to lay traps for its prey)

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Small Size (Small Animal Sized), Natural Weaponry (With its teeth), Enhanced Senses (Has very sensitive hearing and can feel vibrations through the ground), Consumption (Physical Consumption), Burrowing, Earth Manipulation and Movement Negation (Can harden the sand it eats into boulder-like projectiles that burrow Pikmin into the ground), Stealth Mastery (Said to hide in the sands in order to lure small prey into its traps), Limited Body Control (It can adjust the size of its mouth and body to fit far larger objects inside it).

Resistance to Explosion Manipulation (Barely stunned by explosives and takes little to no damage from eating bomb rocks), Time Stop and Magnetism Manipulation (All enemies on PNF-404 are immune to the magnetic field which stops time in the underground dungeons), Sound Manipulation and Empathic Manipulation (Unaffected by the captain's whistle. Other enemies, like the Antenna Beetle's whistle-like sound, can control the Pikmin which captains are superior to)

Weaknesses: Although it is mostly immune to explosives, swallowing a bomb will cause it to be vulnerable for a short period before it burrows back into the ground.
