If there is a God who rules this world, it is a stern, solemn, and definitely a good being. A being that is far too great. God keeps forcing us to confront these cruel fates. As those were the rules of this world! Oh, God... I'll slice you into tiny pieces and feed you to the pigs! Our battlefield is no place for that piece of shit, God! I think it's time we took over God's work. We, soldiers, will take God's place. Put the arrogant ass, God, out of a job! All right troops... It's time for war!

Tanya von Degurechaff is the main protagonist of the light novel/manga/anime Youjo Senki: Saga of Tanya the Evil. Originally a salaryman who was murdered in 2013, he was reborn as a girl living in an alternate version of Europe during the late Interwar period.
At just nine years of age, Tanya enters the Empire's Mages troops and is promoted to Second Lieutenant. Her talents, strategies, efficiency, and ruthlessness make her a useful asset for the Empire and a threat on the battlefield.
Since she graduated from the War College as one of the twelve knights, she's been granted the title of von.
Moreover, she leads her own newly-formed Mage Battalion known as the Imperial Army 203rd Air Mage Battalion.

Past
In the year 2013 A.D., he was an ordinary salaryman working diligently in the Human Resources Department of his company. His primary duty was handling employee layoffs, a task he performed with cold precision and a complete lack of empathy for those he terminated. He prided himself on his efficiency, believing his decisions were purely business-driven and detached from personal sentiment. However, this lack of compassion and the mechanical manner in which he discharged his duties earned him the resentment of his peers.
One day, after terminating an employee for incompetence, his routine life took a grim turn. On his way home after work, he was confronted by the very person he had just fired, filled with vindictive rage. Without warning, the disgruntled ex-employee shoved him off the platform of a crowded train station. Helpless, he fell onto the tracks and was fatally struck by an oncoming train, marking the abrupt end of his earthly existence.
This tragic incident led to his first encounter with Being X, a mysterious metaphysical entity claiming dominion over human existence. During their exchange, the salaryman’s faithless nature became evident as he dismissed the existence of divine or supernatural forces such as God and the Devil. He expressed disdain for the concept of faith and criticized Being X’s perceived failures in managing humanity. Furthermore, he argued that humanity’s diminishing belief in God was a direct consequence of poor divine oversight. Enraged by the salaryman’s insolence but also intrigued by his defiant intellect, Being X decided to subject his soul to a cosmic experiment. In an act of divine intervention, Being X reincarnated him in an alternate universe as Tanya Degurechaff, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed infant girl.
Present
The salaryman was reborn as Tanya in the year 1914 in an alternate world governed by different rules, in a militaristic nation called the Empire. From her earliest moments of consciousness in this new life, Tanya realized that she was an orphan, residing in a church-run orphanage. For years, her life remained mundane and uneventful, characterized by a monotonous existence in the care of the church.
However, her life took a dramatic turn when a group of specialists visited the orphanage to assess the children. During a routine magical aptitude test, Tanya was identified as a child with exceptional magical potential, making her a prime candidate for conscription into the Empire’s Imperial Armed Forces. Recognizing the inevitability of her military service and seizing the opportunity to secure a better future, Tanya made the strategic decision to volunteer rather than wait for conscription. By doing so, she hoped to obtain superior treatment and resources, setting her sights on promotion to an elite rear-echelon position within the military hierarchy. With her life meticulously planned, Tanya enlisted in the Imperial Army.
Prologue/Deus lo Vult: Chapter I – The Sky in Norden
Tanya’s exceptional abilities and determination allowed her to graduate from the Military Training Camp at the remarkably young age of nine. Upon her graduation, she was promptly promoted to Warrant Officer and assigned command of an artillery firing squad. Her first official deployment soon followed.
The mission required her unit to conduct reconnaissance for ground troops in a volatile war zone. While carrying out her task, Tanya’s unit was ambushed by enemy forces. Assessing the dire situation, she immediately requested permission to retreat, but her superiors denied her request. Instead, they issued new orders: she and her unit were to hold the line against the enemy until reinforcements arrived, a delay estimated to last approximately ten minutes.
Despite her reluctance, Tanya obeyed her orders, engaging the enemy with ferocity. During the intense battle, she successfully killed three enemy combatants and severely wounded two others (in the light novel, one was killed, and two were injured). Tanya sustained an injury during the fight, a calculated move on her part, as she believed an injury would grant her an honorable discharge from combat duty and ensure her care by the military in recognition of her sacrifice.
Deus lo Vult: Chapter II – The Elenium Type 95 Operation Orb
Tanya’s next major assignment was to test the Elenium Type 95 Operation Orb, an experimental and highly unstable prototype created by Doctor Schugel. During her initial flight using the orb, it malfunctioned catastrophically, exploding when she reached an altitude of 6,000 feet. Although she sustained minor injuries, Tanya quickly realized that the orb was far from reliable or safe.
To her growing frustration, she was repeatedly called back to test the explosive orb, each trial ending in failure as the device proved uncontrollable. Her irritation peaked when, during her final test, the orb began to detonate mid-flight. In this critical moment, Tanya encountered Being X once again. The entity informed her that the only way to use the orb safely and effectively was to pray to him, essentially forcing her to acknowledge his existence.
Faced with no alternative, Tanya reluctantly uttered a prayer, and to her astonishment, the orb stabilized. She successfully completed the test, though she remained bitter, perceiving the orb not as a divine blessing but as cursed equipment. This experience deepened her disdain for Being X and strengthened her resolve to overcome the challenges imposed by her reincarnation.

General Description:
After reincarnation, Tanya takes the form of a young girl with a petite build and fair complexion. Her blonde hair is usually tied up neatly, and she has blue eyes that can glow yellow when channeling magic. Despite her youthful and delicate appearance, her expression and demeanor often contrast sharply with her ruthless personality.
Facial Features:
Tanya’s face is smooth and doll-like, with refined features that give her a calm and composed appearance. Her blue eyes are striking and can shift in color under the influence of magical energy, reflecting her combat-oriented nature.
Clothing/Outfit:
Tanya typically wears her military uniform, which resembles a World War I–era German Feldrock with a dark green color and red trim. She often wears her Silver Wings Assault Medal as part of her standard dress. During combat operations, Tanya’s attire becomes more practical, consisting of thicker and looser clothing with a high, fur-lined collar, black gloves, a black vest with multiple pockets, and the Empire’s Flight Gear. The Flight Gear includes a large black device with a red front marked by a black iron cross, attached to the chest and connected to a leg brace on her right leg.
Personality
Complex Nature: Tanya is defined by conflicting personal traits. In both of her lives, she shows signs of both superiority and inferiority complexes, acknowledging her limits compared to true geniuses while maintaining a strong drive to excel. She views herself as flawed and somewhat twisted but remains highly self-aware of these qualities. The anime highlights this internal duality by showing her outward composure contrasted with moments of suppressed frustration or self-reflection.
Psychopathic Traits: Tanya exhibits sociopathic tendencies, often treating people as tools to achieve her goals. She maintains a logical and emotionally detached mindset, enabling her to make efficient decisions under pressure. Her adherence to the Chicago School of Economics—where everything has a price—reflects her belief that value and utility govern all interactions. However, her emotional detachment can cause friction with others, as seen when her cold demeanor provokes resentment. Erich von Rerugen identifies her as a psychopath due to her lack of empathy and purely pragmatic outlook. The anime further emphasizes this trait through her calm reactions in violent or high-stress scenarios.
Professionalism and Self-Interest: Tanya presents herself as a disciplined and loyal soldier, performing her duties with precision and control. Her professionalism serves her personal ambitions, as she views her career success as a means to achieve a peaceful and comfortable life. This self-serving approach allows her to maintain authority and trust within the military while focusing on her own goals. The anime often underscores this balance, showing her strict discipline alongside her quiet frustration toward the burdens of command.
Libertarian Ideals: Tanya strongly values personal freedom and autonomy. Her ultimate goal is to live a quiet, conflict-free life, though her environment continuously forces her into warfare. She believes that individuals should rise through merit and self-reliance, criticizing the Imperial Army’s structure for suppressing independent judgment. Her resentment toward Being X stems from her belief that divine interference violates free will. The anime depicts this belief vividly through her confrontations with Being X, illustrating her frustration at losing control over her fate.
Calculated Discipline: Outwardly, Tanya is the image of an ideal soldier—strategic, composed, and efficient. She enforces strict standards and maintains focus on survival and mission success rather than emotional considerations. Her leadership style blends pragmatism with cold rationality, earning her subordinates’ respect despite her distant attitude. In the anime, her composure during chaotic battles and her tendency to suppress emotion reinforce her calculated and analytical personality.
Ideological Rigidity: Tanya maintains strong faith in her reasoning and approach. She often assumes others think as logically as she does, which leads to misjudgments and unforeseen consequences. Even when her strategies fail, she rarely questions her core beliefs, attributing setbacks to external conditions rather than personal error. The anime supports this depiction by showing her persistence and frustration when outcomes diverge from her expectations.
Goals
Leave the frontlines of the war and get to the back lines (Ongoing).
Prove Being X's philosophy wrong (Ongoing).
Prevent the Empire from entering into the start of a world war (Failed, top brass stopped her).
Relationships
Viktoriya Ivanovna Serebryakov
At first, Tanya viewed Viktoriya as nothing more than a means to achieve her own goals, seeing her as a useful asset within the Empire. Over time, however, she developed a sense of respect for Viktoriya’s dedication and loyalty. Tanya also shows small signs of personal regard, such as favoring Viktoriya’s hand-brewed coffee. In the manga, she occasionally refers to her by her nickname, Visha, and makes efforts to prevent others from behaving inappropriately toward her, recognizing her as a trusted subordinate. Visha seems to be greatly defensive over anyone that insults Tanya, and defends any remark one tries to make about her.
Hans von Zettour
Tanya respects Zettour as a capable superior officer and expresses gratitude for his guidance. Although she values his approval, she also fears disappointing him and takes great care to avoid mistakes under his supervision. Their professional relationship is built on mutual respect and cautious discipline.
Erich von Rerugen
Tanya and Rerugen maintain a professional but complex relationship. While Rerugen is wary of Tanya’s calculating personality, she recognizes his skill and composure as qualities that balance her own. Despite their differences, she respects his perspective and often treats him as a professional equal.
Imperial Army 203rd Air Mage Battalion
Initially, Tanya saw the members of her battalion purely as resources for the Empire and treated them accordingly. However, over time, she began taking measures to ensure their survival, partly to maintain her professional reputation. Despite her pragmatic outlook, her troops grew to admire her, interpreting her frustration over casualties as genuine concern. This misunderstanding deepened their loyalty toward her, with many viewing her as an inspiring leader worth following.
In side stories and other media, Tanya’s relationship with her battalion is shown to be more personal. She occasionally shares small moments of camaraderie, such as distributing chocolate or joking with her subordinates. Though she continues to value discipline and efficiency, Tanya ultimately develops a sense of trust toward her experienced soldiers and depends on them in battle. Her unit, in turn, remains loyal to her above all else.
Salamander Combat Group
As the commander of the Salamander Combat Group, Tanya demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills. She sets high standards, expects competence from her subordinates, and avoids unnecessary interference once she gives an order. Her clear command style and focus on cooperation help earn the respect and confidence of her team.
Being X
Tanya holds a deep resentment toward Being X for forcing her into the body of a young girl and disrupting her former life. As an atheist, she refuses to acknowledge Being X as a divine being, seeing him instead as a manipulative force responsible for her suffering. Tanya’s hatred for him drives much of her motivation, and she remains determined to defy or destroy any agents or manifestations associated with him whenever they appear.
Loria
Loria becomes infatuated with Tanya upon meeting her, developing an obsessive desire to capture and dominate her. His fixation influences his actions during the war, leading him to advocate for the release of imprisoned mages in an attempt to gain an advantage against her.
Adelheid von Schugel
Tanya wants to avoid any further encounters with Dr. Schugel due to his unstable personality and extreme ideas. She finds his experiments unsettling and prefers to keep her distance from him whenever possible.

Operation Orb: An Operation Orb or Computation Jewel is a tool mages use to interfere with reality through magic according to their will, a breakthrough to recreate miraculous phenomena through the combination of both mana and analogue computation. The device is currently a black box, as not much has been revealed about its operation, but its main function is known to process the world's data and convert mana of user mages. The Great Powers had entered a cutthroat competition in researching and developing this technology. In the second chapter of Deus lo Vult, it's revealed that the Empire is the pioneer in this aspect of magical technology through their Chief Engineer Adelheid von Schugel, the man also responsible for keeping Empire's supremacy in magical technology, the culmination of which is the practical implementation of a dual-core Operation Orb: the Elenium Type 97 ‘Mobile Assault’ Operation Orb. Orbs require basic maintenance at least once a month in order to operate properly.
Type 13 Standard Operation Orb: The operation orb which was from Volcker Arms Factory and used by Tanya in the beginning of the series.
Elenium Type 95 Operation Orb: Developed by Adelheid von Schugel and his team of Elenium Arms as the first multi-core operational orb. It uses 4 cores as opposed to using only 1 like normal models do, quadrupling the output of an Operation Orb that uses mana in place of fuel, but at the cost of the mana consumption rate increasing by four-fold. The Type 95 is an experimental revolutionary Orb which theoretically allows the user to reach an altitude of 18,000 feet and cast multiple spells. Its final goal is to achieve Mana Fixation. However, it is very unstable and fragile, with a very high chance of exploding. It manga chapter 31, its power output is mentioned as unmeasurable. In practicality, it functions more of a mana battery where she can store some of her mana in the orb over time and then use that mana whenever she prays.

Elenium Type 97 'Mobile Assault' Operation Orb: An Operation Orb with 2 cores developed by Professor Schugel, a product version of Tanya's Elenium Type 95 that couldn't be mass produced. The principle of this orb is the same as Elenium Type 95, but more stable and far inferior output. However, this Orb is still a generation ahead of existing Orbs used by other countries. It is a revolutionary model that was hard to handle for single-core users. In manga chapter 31, its power output is 300 kt.

Elenium TYpe 97
Luger P08: Tanya is seen armed with a Luger P08 semi-automatic pistol in the ending sequence. It is a toggle-locked recoil-operated semi-automatic pistol. The design was patented by Georg J. Luger in 1898 and produced by German arms manufacturer Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) starting in 1900 with other manufacturers; it was an evolution of the 1893 Hugo Borchardt–designed C-93. The Swiss army was the first to adopt the Luger in May 1900. The Luger was the standard issue pistol for the German Army in both world wars, and presumably plays a similar role for the Empire.

Mauser C96: The Mauser C96 is a semi-automatic pistol that was originally produced by German arms manufacturer Mauser from 1896 to 1937, firing 7.63×25mm Mauser or 9×19mm Parabellum rounds based on the variants. C96 has one of the most iconic shapes of early semi-automatic pistols which features the integral box magazine in front of the trigger, the long barrel, the wooden shoulder stock, and an iconic grip shaped like the handle of a broom. Due to its successful performance, C96 also had numerous licensed and unlicensed variants manufactured by several countries.
A Mauser C96 and an operation orb lie on the table.
Mauser Gewehr 98: Regular infantrymen in the Imperial Army are armed with the Mauser Gewehr 1898. In real life, the Gewehr 1898 is a rifle that fires 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridges from a 5-round internal clip-loaded magazine that was the German service rifle from 1898 to 1935. As with most bolt-action rifles of its time, it was a powerful and accurate rifle with long range that was poorly suited for the close quarter fighting of trench warfare. The considerable length of the rifle and the minimum sight setting of 400 meters (far in excess of the typical range in trench battles) were particular handicaps.
Imperial soldiers with Gewehr 98 rifles.
Mondragón Rifle: Mages in the Imperial Army use Mondragón rifles as their primary weapons, often firing magic rounds out of them. In real life, the Mondragón was a Mexican semi-automatic rifle of the early 1900s, the first such weapon to become standard issue in a national army. The Mondragón was sold to Germany in the First World War, but proved unreliable in the muddy conditions of the trenches, and was thus mostly used as an aircraft weapon until enough machine guns were available. The use of the weapon by mages somewhat mirrors its real-life deployment in the First World War.
Tanya with her Mondragón Rifle.
Gewehr 43 (left hand): In the manga, mages of the Imperial Army use the anachronistic Gewehr 43 semi-automatic rifles instead of the Mondragón rifles. In real life, the Gewehr 43 did not exist until 1943. It was the result of Walther modifying the less successful Gewehr 41(W) through the incorporating of a short-stroke piston gas system that was similar to captured Soviet SVT-40 rifles. The weapon uses the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge and is fed by a 10-round detachable box magazine. In the story, all Gewehr 43 rifles are scoped, and unlike the real-life Gewehr 43, a bayonet can be attached to the rifle.
Tanya equipped with a scoped Gewehr 43 and an MG-34.
MG 34 (right hand): The MG 34 is the other primary weapon used by Imperial Mages. In the Rhine Front, Tanya was wielding both weapons during her search and rescue mission. Overall, more mages are seen using the MG 34 than the Gewehr 43. The MG 34 used by the mages received modifications that are not found in their real-life counterparts. They are modified to accept magazines instead of belts, and a forward grip has been added below the barrel sleeve so that the mages can hold the machine gun with two hands.
Gustloff Volkssturmgewehr: Gustloff Volkssturmgewehr is the name of an assault rifle design by Karl Barnitzke of the Gustloff-Werke for the Primitiv-Waffen-Programm ("primitive weapons program") in 1944 and was intended to be used by the Volkssturm. It was greatly simplified as an attempt to cope with the severe lack of resources and industrial capacity in Germany during the final period of World War II. The weapon employed the same 7.92×33mm Kurz intermediate cartridge as the earlier StG 44 assault rifle and also used the same detachable 30-round box magazine. In the context of the series, the Imperial marine mages use it as their primary weapon. Nevertheless, the weapon's appearance is anachronistic.
The Imperial marine mage gives Tanya a Gustloff Volkssturmgewehr.
PTRD-41: PTRD-41 was an anti-tank rifle produced and used from early 1941 by the Soviet Red Army during the Second World War. It was a single-shot weapon which fired a 14.5×114mm round. Although unable to penetrate the frontal armor of German tanks, it could penetrate the thinner sides of early-war German tanks as well as thinly armored self-propelled guns. The rifle used a bolt based on the Mauser Gewehr 98 rifle, as this design is legendary for its strength and simplicity and has become the most widely adopted and copied designs of all time. Abnormally and anachronistically, this gun appears in the Imperial weaponry, described as the "anti-armor sniper rifle" that was useful in trench warfare against the panzer's armor and the mage's shield. During World War I, the weapon that served such purpose for the German Army was the 13 mm Mauser 1918 T-Gewehr.
Tanya with PTRD-41 on her left hand.
MP 40: Maschinenpistole 40 was a submachine gun chambered for the 9×19mm Parabellum cartridge. It was developed in Nazi Germany and used extensively by the Axis powers during the Second World War. It was heavily used by infantrymen (particularly platoon and squad leaders), and by paratroopers, on the Eastern and Western Fronts. Its advanced and modern features made it a favorite among soldiers and popular in countries from various parts of the world after the war. It was often erroneously called "Schmeisser" by the Allies, although Hugo Schmeisser was not involved in the design or production of the weapon. In the novel vol.4, MP 40 appeared in Loria's imagination, and was hugged by Tanya.
Tanya with MP 40 in Loliya's imagination.
MG 08 Maxim: The Empire uses the Maschinengewehr 08, or MG 08, as their primary support weapon. In real life, the MG 08 was an adaptation of Hiram S. Maxim's original 1884 Maxim gun. In the anime, the MG 08 has a disk-shaped muzzle that is normally seen on Chinese-made Type 24 Maxims, which were not manufactured until 1935. The gun used 250-round fabric belts of 7.92×57mm ammunition, and was water-cooled by using a jacket around the barrel that held approximately one gallon of water. Like the 1884 Maxim gun, the MG 08 operated on the basis of short barrel recoil and a toggle lock. Once cocked and fired the MG 08 would continue firing rounds until the trigger was released or until all available ammunition was expended. Its practical range was estimated at some 2,000 metres (2,200 yds) up to an extreme range of 3,600 metres (3,900 yds).
Imperial soldiers man the MG 08 Maxim.
Stielhandgranate: The Stielhandgranate is the Imperial Army's standard issue grenade. In the anime, Tanya and the Imperial Mages used Stielhandgranates twice. First bombing the Dacian invasion forces, the second in downing the lead bomber of the Entente Alliance bomber formation. In the real world, it was the standard issue of the German Empire during World War I and World War II. The very distinctive appearance led to it being called a "stick grenade", or "potato masher" in British Army slang. The Model 24 Stielhandgranate is used in the anime, which is correct as it first appeared in 1924. The main distinction between the Model 1924 and previous models is a slightly shorter charge head. Another very minor change in the design was a lengthening of the wooden handle. The intent of these design alterations was simply for mobility.
"Here is a parting gift."
Model 39 grenade: The Model 39 "Eihandgranate", M39 or Eierhandgranate 39 ("egg hand grenade") was a German fragmentation hand grenade introduced in 1939 and produced until the end of World War II. It used the same fuse assembly (the BZE 39) as the Model 43 Stielhandgranate ("Stick Grenade"), which was screwed into the top of the sheet-metal body.

Notable Techniques
Physical Traits Capacity: As a child, Tanya didn't possess much physical strength, though due to her training with the military she is at least up there with other trained soldiers. Also, she is able to enhance her basic physical abilities through magical enhancement spells. This allows her to engage in proper close quarter combat and wield a rifle like any other soldier.
Tanya one hand submachine gun
Air Warfare: Her movements are said to resemble a fairy dancing in the sky although most enemies only yell "Monster!" as she dodges all mana targeting spells. Her main tactics are focused on outmaneuvering her opponents, luring them into close quarters for her mage blade or mass elimination with single powerful spells. Air warfare may be conducted against other aircraft, against targets on the ground, and against targets on the water or beneath it. Air warfare is almost entirely a creation of the 20th century, in which it became a primary branch of military operations.
Tanya Evade Maneuver
Tanya Medium Accuracy
Tactics (Strategy and Planning): Although she has an average record in planning and strategy, she has a special aptitude for analysis and critical thinking skills. Moreover, she can manipulate the plan according to her will. When Tanya gives orders to her subordinates, they can expect harsh punishments if they fail to comply.
Manipulation Skills: Due to her extremely dangerous cuteness and small size, she can easily fool someone by using her skills, e.g. during her short conversation with previously ranked Captain Maximilian Johann von Ugar, by persuading him to drop in the selection of being one of the Twelve Knights during War College Arc. Also, she has an ability to fool anyone with her voice, e.g in the light novel, manga, and anime version (Episode 5), where she used her child voice during the bombing of the Dacian Capital.
Tanya manipulated pity face.
Magic: Magic is the phenomenon where mages use their mana to interfere with the world, a method that allows apparition of phenomena by giving appropriate stimulation to the point of application. Modern magic is achieved through technology Operation Orb, unlike the era of legends, this allowed people to clearly understand in detail the where, the how, and to what degree of power to interfere with reality.
Prayer Magic: By using the Elenium Type 95 and praying to Being X, her eyes turn gold and her physical and mental psyche increases beyond the extent of a normal human. Moreover, she has increased accuracy and prediction in a shooting and is able to cast a high tier powerful explosive spell that could destroy a whole company. This, however, makes her suffer by having mental corruptions, and barely remembers what she did after. The rosary on her neck is the only equipment that prevents her from being corrupted permanently.

Formulas: In Youjo Senki universe, formulas aren't a set of words, spoken or unspoken to invoke some magical effect. Mages have to understand how the phenomenon of formulas they intend to cast works to recreate the deeds such as miracles. It's like the way people understand how to light a fire with a lighter, thus enabling them to recreate the deed through magic.
Formula Bullets: Formulas are sealed inside bullets or grenades and activated upon firing. Can be initialized with minimum mana necessary for the formula. Bullets are required.
Flight Formulas: The aeronautic magic, which allows mages to soar through the sky. This magic works by creating propulsion, forcefully raising a mage into the sky and maintaining balance while in the air. The standard altitude for flight mages is 6,000 feet and it's not recommended for them to propel themselves any higher using an ordinary orb due to thin oxygen and massive amounts of mana their orb has to bear to maintain flight. Surpassing these limitations need a multi-core orb. Tanya herself with her gear can reach 12,000 feet.
Passive Defensive Shell: Protects against small fragments, small caliber bullets and blast waves. Can be kept on indefinitely, also easy to cast together with other formulas. The biggest ordinary single shot it can defend against in a direct hit is 12.7 mm, but in a saturation attack, even infantry small arms can weaken and penetrate it.
Active Defensive Barrier: Increasing the density of the shell in one part to create a shield that can withstand machine gun fire. Whether it provides adequate protection depends on the mage's skill. Ordinary, if concentrate on defense and funnel more mana, it can withstand up to about 40 mm.
Offensive Formulas
Enchanted Rounds: Sealing formulas inside bullets or grenades to activate as required. Formulas can be activated with minimal mana, but the rounds need to be prepared.
Penetration Formula: As implied in the name, enhancing penetrating power of the rounds.
Homing Cluster Shot: Any bullets that imbued with this formula will split into several homing projectiles upon reaching a certain range and will seek out the target.
Artillery Shots: Any bullets that are imbued with this formula will have its firepower enhanced to be comparable to artillery shots. It needs several layers control equation to converge the power. With Type 95, Tanya can shoot the magic bombardment that has similar power to 28 cm gun.
Long-Range Sniping Formula: A major attack made up of multiple formulas. Normally, anyone leisurely launching this in the middle of a battlefield would end up pummeled by anti-magic artillery.
Optical Formulas: Emits a straight heat beam. Skilled mages can refract it to change its course. Noted to be the favored formula of Republican mage for their volley of fire doctrine.
Explosive Formulas: Explosive Formulas: Creates an explosion at any coordinate. Converted to gunpowder, the power of Heavy Explosion Formulas are 150 kilos at most.
Self-Destruction: Overloading one's Operation Orb with mana causing it to reach critical mass and explode, injuring the user and surrounding enemies if not outright killing them.
Guided Interference Formulas: Directing a formula's trajectory, could be used for offensive and defensive purposes. It also could be used to interfere with radio signals.
Magic Blade: Enchanting an item such as a bayonet with mana which makes it sharp and durable enough to cut a man or plane in two. Even a tough magic shield can't bare the attack of magic blade. It can also emerge on hands and arms.
Combustion Formulas
Napalm-Type: A large-scale formula that usually used in trench and unconventional war. It will cause strong mana signal, fire, huge explosion and blast. It isn't efficient in encounter battles or high-maneuver warfare.
Explosive Vaporization: A practical combustion formula when attacking the target in buildings.
Detection/Support Formulas
Optical Decoy Forumla: Creates an illusion that will interfere with the visual senses of those around the user when cast. Skilled mages can easily differentiate between what is real and the illusion, especially since this formula is inclusively targeting sight and nothing else.
Observation Formula: Processes data of a Mage's surroundings, uses vary from locking on target coordinates, detecting observational waves, and analyzing an enemy's mana signature. In the anime, this formula takes the form of a holographic screen while in the manga it's akin to a halo above the user.
Heat Detection Formula: An impractical formula that is hard to handle even for Tanya. In volume 2, she once considered shoot the enemy bombers with the attack formula paralleling this one.
Other Formula
Analgesic Formula: Doping up the target with it. It can improve the target's reaction time, increase instantaneous strength, and work as analgesic.
Medical Formula: Easing the pain and curing light wounds. With more advanced magic treatment, it can cure the serious injury by gunshot as well.
Magic Interference: The spread of high-density mana that can cause the noise and jamming to the radio equipment and haze the video with static. That basically makes communication units on the battlefield where mages involve in get paralyzed or perform electronic countermeasures.
Magic Communication: The radio communication between mages. While using a special format with directional waves via orbs, the high density of magic remaining will create ear-piercing noise to the radio messages.
Dehydration Formula: In manga chapter 30, Weiss once threatened the recruits to turn them into dry fishes by this formula.
Voice Amplification Formula: Increasing the volume of the user.
Other
Standard Tactics: Tanya's tactics as a mage has her attack from the air shooting down rains of magic and spatial detonation attacks.
Miracle Weaknesses: She is heavily inexperienced, if another protected by miracles battles her, they will negate her miracles granted (in-universe only weakness).
While it's also heavily implied they cannot react to moving at 300 kmh along with moving at Mach 1.5, these two are contradicted by the fact that to hit mage units, characters need to amplify the speed of their bullets, which wouldn't make sense if they cannot reach Mach 0.37 in speed.
The manga, light novel, and anime are all essentially canon to each other with the most minor contradictions and changes to the point that they are essentially seen as all the same canon. Even with the minor contradictions in the way they can simply be ignored as they do not mess with the overall flow of the story and thus all material from the anime, manga, and light novel can be used on this profile. The web novel however, is not canon as it is the official draft made by Carlo Zen before the original LN published to the public.
Tanya's negation ability realistically should negate any immortality (outside of the obvious one's that are more potent or she can't reach), as it negates anything viewed as a miracle or a blessing, even one's naturally innate physiology should be negated by Tanya allowing her to affect them.
In the German dubbing of the anime her name has been translated as Tanya Degretschow.
Tanya Degurechaff has been compared to the Fallen Hero of Germany Manfred von Richthofen a.k.a Red Baron. Both of them are considered as "Ace of Aces" during their own World War.
The Assault Silver Wings medal, which was presented to Tanya, could be based on the 1939 Iron Cross with Oak and Gold Wings, Swords and Diamonds.
Tanya Degurechaff's achievements have been compared to Erich Hartmann known as "Black Devil," who was highly feared by the Allied forces and the Soviet Union. All of the pilots ranked as "Ace of Aces" were killed by him.
Tanya's traits and missions seem to be inspired by Erwin Rommel during WW1, as both shared the same destination and both are known for their talent with commando operations in small units.
Tanya was born on July 18. However, her adoptive birthday is on September 24.[34]
The name Tanya has its origin as a Russian diminutive of TATIANA. It began to be used in the English-speaking world during the 1930s.
In anime, her eyes are in the vivid shade of azure blue, but in Light Novel and Manga, her eyes are in icy shade almost silver.
In the manga and light novel, she is shown to be worried about her growth and even consults a doctor. She is told her growth is stunted due to being malnourished as an orphan and rigorous training as a soldier.[35]
The anime highlights the orphanage Tanya used to live as a very poor one and in a difficult situation to feed their children, while in the Light Novel, it's mentioned by Erich that according to his intel, her orphanage receives a hefty donation and their children are well-fed.
Tanya currently holds the world record for max height reached by mages in combat standing at 12'000 feet, the average height is 6'000 with Republicans chasing her at 8'000 feet above sea level.[36]
According to the LN and manga, she wrote her first thesis at age nine (titled The logistics behind a highly mobile war theatre) that the railroad department deeply recognized and desired to recruit her.[37]
Tanya hates cigarettes and the smell of smokers.[38]
She loves coffee, especially those made by Visha.[39]
She likes sweets, mostly chocolates.
Tanya once fought while being doped in magic, which can simulate a feeling of intoxication due to the magic canals being unrestricted.[40]
Tanya has a total confirmed 62 kills and 32 assists since her recruitment, when being considered for War College.[41]
In the Light novel, she is publicly known by 3 names: White Silver as described by the front line troops, her official alias and what the front line troops think she especially after the aide she provides, Mad Dog by imperial command, mainly due to the amount of trouble she causes them, and The Devil of The Rhine, because she happily laughs and dances in the sky when she kills her enemies. These 3 were combined to give her a new nickname, Rusted Silver. This is because when blood dries up, it gives a colour similar to silver oxide (silver rust) in solution.

There have also been arguments regarding it's canonicity due to the power levels, despite it being acknowledged in its own show by Ainz that the power levels of the world are messed up.

↑"Youjo Senki Volume 1 Chapter 3" At that moment, a process similar to the vaporization of a thermobaric explosion was initiated. Mana in the purest condensed form was rapidly discharged at a rate which could not be fathomed. Explosions began to formulate through the heating of the discharged mana, and as they dispersed and made contact with the open air, a wide area unconstrained mana-induced explosion was initiated. The drastic changes in atmospheric pressure could bring on acute pulmonary atelectasis and lung congestion, and furthermore causes the already thin concentration of oxygen level in the air to drop below to a critical level. Experiencing hypoxia and carbon monoxide poisoning at an altitude of 8000 feet would cause even the most well-trained aerial mages to black out and fall. In unlucky situations where if one were to somehow barely hold-on and maintain their consciousness, they would soon experience horrendous amount of pain in an unimaginable way. This torturous experience was brought on by a series of acute pulmonary atelectasis and carbon monoxide poisoning, coupled with the various symptoms caused from the drastic drop in arterial blood-oxygen level within the body. "Tshh, … geho … ahek." Even Tanya who was outside the effective range of the attack experienced difficulty in breathing due to the lack of oxygen. It was hard to imagine the situation of those caught within. Should they somehow manage to survive, the most they could do would be to barely maintain their altitude, and that might not even last much longer due to the phenomenon formed from the aftereffects of unconstrained mana-induced explosion, causing a widespread influx of mana interference noise. This not only caused disruptions to wireless communication, but even made it difficult to maintain sustained spells like flight, making it impossible for the battle to continue. Although the low visibility which arose from the smoke clouds could still make things troublesome, it was easy to imagine the outcomes of those caught within a direct blast radius of the spell.

↑ Youjo Senki Volume 1 Chapter 2 "The realm beyond the perception of senses [Everyone, this is serious.]
In a corner of the realm of the gods, the [existences] there were honestly troubled. This wasn’t just what they were thinking honestly, but stemmed from their goodwill as well. [As everyone knows, the number of humans with faith is decreasing rapidly.] [It is too difficult to develop a civilization while maintaining religious devotion.] Be it leading man to a higher plane of existence or staying true to the basic policy of nonintervention, the “circle of rebirth” system was reaching its limits. The more the world develops and the people become happy, the further the erosion of faith. There were no nightmares worse than that for the system. [What about the test conducted earlier?] [It is less effective than expected. Even after they acknowledged supernatural phenomenon, there was no further reaction.] The archangel with extremist view believed that they should trigger supernatural phenomenon to stir the faith of the people. They tried mimicking the event of Moses and displayed supernatural phenomenon, but the results were disappointing. It would be explained by science one day. The reaction of the people to supernatural phenomenon was that it could not be understood as of now. Since they couldn’t understand it, it merely became the subject of their research. [It’s not going well after all.] [But why? In the past, we just need to talk to them, and they will understand that we are gods.] [They even proactively called out for us.] That’s right. During the era when faith was deep, they could communicate easily by conversing with them. Not only that, some even took the initiative to seek the presence of the gods. But that was rare nowadays. Voices seeking redemption came up just as seldom. Why was that? They couldn’t understand no matter how hard they thought; it was important to investigate the successful cases as well. That was a rational approach. And so, they took action with sublime ideas and sense of duty, researching all the examples from mythology to the modern age. For them, the age of mythology was just a past memory. If they wished to investigate them one by one, it was possible to complete such a task. [...The answer lies in the grace of the gods right?] From the conclusion, this was a practical answer. [What do you mean?] [In the past, before men developed their civilization, we intervened and protected them when they suffered disaster they couldn’t avert themselves.] For modern nations, a storm was no longer a threat. Typhoons couldn’t destroy a country anymore; it couldn’t even crack the beams of a building. For most nations, storms and floods would only disable the functionalities of a city. In contrast to the past, entire farmlands would be devastated from a storm, people washed away by the flood and families broken because of catastrophes. That was why the gods restrained themselves, and didn’t intervene if the people didn’t will for it. And thus they were forgotten by men. Prompting men to be independent was to let them grow, which was an important element in order for them to move on to a higher plane of thought. That was why no one expected that it would also lead to men losing faith. The people from ancient times would praise the grace of gods, and the empire of Rome was devoted to the gods. After the fall of Rome, the church controlled the entire middle ages in the name of God. However, the lords advocated the divine right of kings, eroding the powers of the church gradually. Then, scientists no longer sought religious devotion, instead seeking for the truth of the world created by gods. As a result, this made men lose their religious faith over time. [That’s right, as civilization is developing at a good pace, we decided that intervening would stunt their growth, that’s why we left them be.] [But on the other hand, isn’t that the main reason why it is hard for them to acknowledge us?] From their perspective, they have no intention of hindering the growth of mankind. In fact, this was the result they were hoping for in their initial plan. To seek the truth behind the workings of the gods. The natural sciences which stemmed from such thoughts was very much welcomed and not detested. They evolved from celebrating the idea of not thinking for themselves, into the worship of understanding the foundation of our very nature. Following this logic, the people will reach a higher level of philosophy. The gods think this was a memorable first step. However, the plan backfired and led to serious problems. And it was unstoppable. After all, there were too many worlds that had been cultivated with such a standard model. [Ughhh, if that was the case, it would be very difficult.] The group fell into deep thought. If they couldn’t solve the problem with simple amendments, the issue would take a lot of effort to settle. That would be very troublesome. And it could be foreseen that the longer they leave the problem alone, the worse it would get. [Ideas, anyone?] At this moment, the angel of wisdom did not let down the expectations placed on him, and outlined a proposal he had after considering the issue carefully. First, he postulated that there wasn’t any problem with their policy. Basically, if they could come up with a system to make up for the loss in faith, all would be well. [And so, we have to make a minute adjustment after all, in order to stir the faith of the people.] This proposal was accepted almost unanimously. However, they had already exhausted all the methods they could think of. [I understand the direction you are proposing. But what should we do specifically? [I am not very confident about this, but how about bestowing a new holy relic to the world③?] [Hmm? What do you mean?] Talking about holy relics, the ones already bestowed to the world were as plentiful as the stars. Although the distribution was uneven because of the country and geography, the number was more than enough. In terms of raising faith, this method wasn’t very successful. It was treasured by the people because of its historical significance at the very most. [The bestowed holy relic is treasured and carefully preserved, fulfilling its role in letting the masses know about the grace of the gods.] However, they didn’t know the actual status of the divine relics. They lived for too long after all. They still have the memories of the time they bestowed the holy relics to men, but they didn’t pay attention to later developments. They only discovered that the divine relic had been relegated to decorations after investigations. [I see, that’s why they have forgotten about faith and prayers. How ironic…] They were no longer an essential existence. That was all there was to it, but they couldn’t help feeling emotional about it. However they didn’t plan to force the people to accept religion one-sidedly. But if they don’t do so, it was inevitable that the system will yield depressing results. To let people seek to understand faith spontaneously, shouldn’t they bestow divine relics periodically in necessary places? They agreed that this opinion was worth a try. [In that case, let’s teach them words of prayer, and bestow a divine relic they need onto the world.] [A splendid idea. Let’s do it.] [I just happen to have something suitable.] And so, the details were decided rather quickly. Even in the eyes of these gods with their slow and easy-going nature, the problems that appeared were rather serious. And so they took the entire discussion seriously, and did not slip up in a fashion that was unique to the gods of mythology, scrutinizing the process faithfully. [Oh?] [Someone in the mortal world is researching a product that is just a step from the realm of the gods—which they should be able to realize about one thousand years in the future.] [Oh, an outlier. Can we contact this human?] It was rare, but during many past instances in various world, there were humans who reached a realm very close to the gods through their research of natural sciences. Such cases were rare and exceptional, but there was still precedence. In the current circumstances, everyone felt that this was the best way. [He should realize by now that he has ways to go. If we show him the works of the gods, he would be quite grateful.] [Should we bestow the holy relic right there?] [No, a miracle is what we need to bestow.] [A miracle?]"
