Muffet is a miniboss the protagonist encounters in Hotland. She runs a bake sale, being very angry at passers-by who do not purchase anything from it, even though buying something costs 9999 gold. She was a bought-in character during the Kickstarter for the game.

Muffet appears to be the leader of the spiders in the Underground. She also runs her own bake sale in Hotland, with the purpose of raising funds to rescue the spiders trapped in the Ruins, as they cannot make it past Snowdin's cold weather. After running into her web, Muffet fights the protagonist.
After the battle has gone on long enough, Muffet receives a telegram from the spiders in the Ruins. The contents of the telegram vary depending on the protagonist's actions. After receiving the telegram, Muffet concludes that the protagonist does not hate spiders and decides to let them go, apologizing and jokingly offering to wrap them up in her web and play with her pet again for free next time they come around. If the protagonist had bought an item from the bake sale in the Ruins and then used it right in front of Muffet, she accuses the protagonist of stealing before receiving the telegram immediately afterward. If the protagonist has purchased at least one of the items from her bake sale in Hotland, she thanks the protagonist instead of battling with them.
If the protagonist decides to kill her instead, a spider crawls and places a flower in the place where Muffet died.
During the battle, Muffet speaks about how she was warned by someone about the protagonist's arrival, and she was offered much money for the protagonist's SOUL. She also explains that the money would help to finally reunite the spider clans. When the protagonist fights Mettaton later on, he reveals that he was the one who made the anonymous offer.
Muffet's name appears to reference the children's nursery rhyme "Little Miss Muffet," in which a young girl eating cottage cheese is frightened away by a spider.
General Description: Muffet is an anthropomorphic spider monster with periwinkle or lavender skin, five eyes, six arms, and two legs.
Facial Features: She has five eyes. Twin pigtails are worn in her hair.
Clothing/Outfit: Red rompers with buttons in the front. A red ribbon across her chest.
Items: Two teacups held with her top pair of hands. Two teapots held with her middle pair.
Pet Accomplice: A giant muffin or cupcake with a face on the frosting part and spider legs sticking out of the sides.
Muffet seems to have a deep care for her spiders, willing to attack and kill anyone who has done harm or has been "stingy" to them.
Muffet seems to love her pet, bringing it out to eat whoever dares crosses spiders.
Muffet faces The Human under the belief that they hate spiders and attempts to kill them.
Depending on the route, Muffet learns that the Human has actually donated to spiders and apologizes for the misunderstanding, letting the human go. Though in certain neutral and genocide routes she is killed either as a betrayal kill or before she can even figure this out.
During the genocide route in specific, Muffet notes how the human is scaring away all of her customers. In this version she decides to let go of the protagonist as even if they are a hyper-violent murderer, they have not hurt any spiders.

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (Muffet is an antagonistic force, normally forcing one to buy her pastries in order to support her spiders, though she will only attack those she thinks are mean to spiders and will be very passive and nice towards those who are nice to spiders. Ignored Alphys warnings of running away and even implies she should've taken webbed her up)
Threat Level: Street Threat (Muffet will attempt to kill any of those she believes to be mean to spiders)
Archetype: Leader

Attack Potency: Average Human level (Mettaton hired them to kill the human), Higher with Magic (Monsters enact in SOUL battles against humans due to humans in their physical forms being far stronger than monsters[2]). Can ignore conventional durability with attacks to the SOUL (As they are attacking the SOUL; which is the very culmination of one's being[3])
Durability: Average Human level, Lower if not wanting to FIGHT or cruel intentions (Monsters weaken when they don't want to fight[4] and one with more killing intent and crueller intentions will inflict more damage on them[4])
Striking Strength: Average Human Class
Lifting Strength: Average Human Class
Travel Speed: Average Human Speed
Attack Speed: Transonic (Can tag The Human, who can maneuver and dodge around the Greater Dog's barks, a sound based attack[5]))
Reaction Speed: Transonic
Stamina: Very High
Range: Standard Melee, Tens of Meters with magic
Intelligence: Average Intelligence
Knowledge: Journeyman level+ (She runs a very successful spider business)
Tea Cups, Her Pet, Various Spiders
Standard Tactics: Muffet will trap her opponents in webs, making it hard for them to move and attack with her spiders, sometimes calling her pet to try and eat the opponent.
Weaknesses: Will no longer fight you if she thinks you're not a threat to spiders or have done nothing to harm them. All monsters are weak to an attack with killing intent behind it and if a monster doesn't want to fight, they are weakened greatly[20].
Monster's check stats are quite dubious for a couple of reasons:
On top of these, genocide route has the check stats differ too with confusing changes, while the human's killing intent is a reason behind this, some characters have their defense stats raise such as Papyrus'. There's also inconsistencies even in these routes, for example The Human at a level 3 killing intent one-shots Toriel[21] yet The Human at level 13 can still only chip damage Asgore[22].
It should also be noted, the argument that Toriel sent Asgore flying with her fire, has an issue it was an off guard hit[23] which it has been shown off-guard/betrayal kills can one-shot monsters as they lowered their guard[24].
Monsters are mostly made of magic while human beings are mostly made of water[2] making humans with their physical forms far stronger then them[2]. However humans have lost the ability to use magic by proxy[2].
Monsters bodies being made of magic has their body physically attuned to their SOUL[4]. Due to this, monsters that don't want to fight have their defenses weaken[4] and one with more killing intent and crueller intentions will inflict more damage on them[4]. This is due to a monsters SOUL being made of love, hope, and compassion[25].
Monsters bodies being made of magic also makes it where they do not possess enough physical matter to take concentrations of determination[26].
In the Undertale 10th Anniversary Livestream Gerson reveals that humanity once had magic too but creating the barrier that separated humans and monsters caused them to use up all their magic[27].
