Background

Patroklos Alexander is a major protagonist of the Soulcalibur series. As the son of Sophitia Alexandra and brother of Pyrrha Alexandra, Patroklos's life was changed forever when a shard of the cursed sword, Soul Edge, appeared in his household. With Pyrrha soon after getting abducted by Tira, and Sophitia being killed by the Malfested while in pursuit of her, Patroklos lived alone with his sick father and sought vengeance.

After to decades of sword training, most of which being under his master Setsuka, Patroklos started his career as a Malfested hunter under employ of the devious Graf Dumas. Eventually, however, Patroklos realized the wrongs of his actions and, in response to his sister's affinity to Soul Edge, was given the heavy responsibility of wielding the holy Soul Calibur, becoming α Patroklos.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Pyrrha’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Patroklos is the son of the holy warrior, Sophitia Alexandra, and her blacksmith husband, Rothion. Along with his older sister, Pyrrha, Patroklos lived a few short years of happiness in his family home until a strange customer arrived at Rothion's shop. This strange customer presented Rothion with a mysterious metallic shard, secretly being a fragment of Soul Edge, which turned the Alexander family upside-down.

Both Patroklos and Pyrrha fought violently over the cursed fragment, which Sophitia had trouble stopping due to the wounds she had sustained after her quest to destroy Soul Edge. As time went on, eventually a young woman clad in green would appear to the family, eerily claiming that she would return when the time was right. This woman was Tira, a devote follower of the cursed sword, and Sophitia recognized her evil immediately.

Years passed, and eventually Pyrrha found herself unable to live without Soul Edge's influence. With Sophitia meeting her tragic hand in her attempt to rid her household of Malfestation and Soul Edge's influence, Tira was given free reign to invade the Alexander home and abduct Pyrrha. For the next many years, Patroklos was left alone with his father, who was dying of sickness.

Knowing that both his sister and mother were lost to the Malfested, Patroklos developed a strong hatred for them, and thus focused his entire childhood into practicing swordplay. Eventually, he was able to win a sword-fighting tournament at only 15 years old, though he still didn't feel powerful enough. Not long after, Patroklos found himself at a bazaar in Istanbul, where he met a wandering swordswoman named Setsuka.

Although the forms of Battōjutsu and Iaido were foreign to Patroklos, he begged Setsuka to train him nonetheless. Under her tutelage, Patroklos grew in skill far faster than any student had grown ever before, though Setsuka never appeared impressed. With realization that Patroklos was training for a lust of revenge, Setsuka grew increasingly weary of training him. However, Patroklos mastered this fighting style nonetheless.

Once he reached 19 years of age, Patroklos and Setsuka has long-since parted ways, and his fighting style slowly turned back into a pale imitation of his mother's sword/shield ways. He found himself under the employ of a conniving man named Dumas, the Graf of Hungary, who was hiring soldiers to hunt down Malfested. Out of his immense hatred for the Malfested, Patroklos slayed any and all creatures Dumas told him to slay, without question.

However, as time went on, cracks began to form in Graf Dumas's demeanor, and eventually Patroklos lost all trust in him after meeting a werewolf named Z.W.E.I. Patroklos rebelled against the Graf, stating that he would face the Malfested and search for his abducted sister on his own. That is when, out of retaliation, Dumas revealed that the Malfested he sent Patroklos to slay, were actually innocent men.

Horribly regretful for what he had done, but steely in his resolve to save his sister, Patroklos fought of Graf Dumas's underlings and escaped back to Z.W.E.I. The werewolf, happy with the choice Patroklos made, brought him to a man named Siegfried Schtauffen, leader of the Schwarzwind mercenaries. Siegfried stated that he had a lead on the woman who abducted Pyrrha, but asked that Patroklos first prove himself.

After a short battle, Siegfried was immensely impressed by Patroklos's skills. He presented to the boy a bright blue blade, the holy sword Soul Calibur, which he believed had been calling for Patroklos to wield. Patroklos gladly took up the sword once he realized that it would help him defeat Pyrrha's abductor, and so set out to look for her alongside Z.W.E.I. and a young seer named Viola.

From several miles away, Pyrrha was being instructed by Tira to kill dozens of soldiers out of a perceived sense of self-defense. The stress accumulated from all the murder was too much for Pyrrha to bear, and she collapsed. Unbeknownst to her, as she slept, her long-lost brother Patroklos appeared and fought Tira off. When Pyrrha awoke, she was in the arms of her brother.

Patroklos, relieved to be in the presence of a family he thought lost to time forever, said his goodbyes to Z.W.E.I and Viola, and began to take Pyrrha to their family home. The two encountered loads of trouble on their journey, but were okay so long as they could fight side-by-side. That was, until they arrived in a small port city, which they found engulfed in flames. Before them stood the Azure Knight, Nightmare, wielding Soul Edge.

In the presence of Soul Edge, and in an effort to defend her brother, a cursed power from within Pyrrha awoke, and she became a Malfested. Empowered by the Malfestation, Pyrrha fought off Nightmare and saved Patroklos. However, because of her transformation, Patroklos was conflicted and felt as though he could no longer accept his sister's existence. He ran away in fear, back into the safety of Siegfried's camp.

Back in the presence of Siegfried and Z.W.E.I., Patroklos immediately relayed to them his dismay by the revelation that Graf Dumas was Nightmare, and that Pyrrha was Malfested. Overwhelmed by conflicting feelings, Patroklos was unstable and thus deemed by Siegfried unworthy of wielding the Soul Calibur. He offered Patroklos one last chance to prove himself in battle, facing the Soul Calibur's alternative host, Z.W.E.I.

As the battle commenced, Patroklos noticed that the Soul Calibur changed its form once again. It now resembled an Iai Blade, the very same that he was taught to wield from his master, Setsuka. With Patroklos's mind focused and fully understanding his goals, the Soul Calibur changed into the form of the sword Patroklos was most comfortable with using, instead of the pale imitation of his mother's sword. Siegfried fully entrusted the Soul Calibur with Patroklos, and sent him to deal with Pyrrha.

Far off in the center of a burning town, Pyrrha had become the new host of Soul Edge, and promised that she would collect souls for it so long as it promised to never leave her. But then, Patroklos returned to her, wielding the Soul Calibur; a blessed sword designed specifically to destroy Soul Edge. After apologizing to his sister, Patroklos fought Pyrrha and managed to neutralize her.

However, as he refused to kill her, the Soul Calibur retaliated against him and incased him in a tomb of ice. Within his mind, Patroklos saw a vision of his mother, Sophitia, who Soul Calibur had taken the form of in order to ease his mind. She used sweet motherly words of concern, the way Patroklos always imagined Sophitia would, and yet at the same time she told him to kill his own sister.

Knowing that this was wrong, Patroklos retaliated against the mirage of his mother and prepared for a battle to resist Soul Calibur from possessing him. He was successful, finally saying goodbye to the replica Sophitia in a solemn tone. Suddenly, he woke up, as the ice around him shattered. Pyrrha had saved him, using the power of Soul Edge in order to save his live.

Finally, Patroklos was able to embrace his sister once again. Together, the two used Soul Edge to strike the Soul Calibur, and finally destroy both swords once and for all. At last, the world was freed from their influence, and an era of peace and freedom could finally flourish. Although Patroklos and Pyrrha both needed to atone for the horrible sins they had committed, they decided to first finally return home.

Name: Patroklos Alexander | α Patroklos

Origin: Soulcalibur

Sex: Male

Age: 19 years old

Classification: Human, Heir To The Title of Holy Warrior

Status: Alive

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (Patroklos is purely motivated by his revenge for the Malfested, and his desire to find his sister, Pyrrha. He has no care for anything other than his own selfish goals, even when asked to take up the Soul Calibur and fight for the forces of good. He is easily manipulated, with Graf Dumas tricking him into killing humans under the delusion that they are Malfested. Although he does feel remorse once he realizes what he's done, Patroklos still feels little about any side of morality and only wishes to preserve his family) | Chaotic Good (After taking up the Soul Calibur and learning important lessons from both Z.W.E.I. and Siegfried, Patroklos has developed a solid moral compass that now guides his actions. He has become a good man hoping to do the right things, and notes that he will make amends for the horrible acts he committed, for the rest of his life. He does still retain his own sense of freedom, however, as he rejects Soul Calibur's notion that all evil must be indiscriminately destroyed, in favor of hopefully finding a way to save Pyrrha's soul)

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: Wall level (Could face Astaroth who can casually smash through stone pillars. Could also face Siegfried Schtauffen, who can dropkick people with this much strength, and reduce a sanctuary of stone pillars to rubble. Also comparable to Heishiro Mitsurugi, who doesn't consider rifles to be a threat) | Wall level, at least Large Building level with Soul Calibur (The Soul Calibur's clash with Soul Edge was enough to completely annihilate the Lost Cathedral and destroy Siegfried's body. The clash sent waves of destruction across the world)

Lifting Strength: Average Human | Average Human

Travel Speed: Athletic Human | Athletic Human

Combat Speed: Supersonic | Supersonic

Stamina: High (Is able to fight battle after battle, reaching limits far beyond that of a regular human. He's taken out several soldiers consecutively, even being able to fight Maxi's entire team one after the other without rest. His willpower to push through any adversity usually allows for him to ignore exhaustion and bloody wounds) | At least Superhuman (Can succumb to the control of Soul Calibur, and as such can continue fighting well beyond the limits of a human. Even at times when Patroklos's body would succumb to fatigue, the Soul Calibur can force him into battle regardless)

Range: Standard Melee, Extended Melee with swords

Intelligence: Gifted in combat (Has been trained from a young age in the ways of sword combat, and it is noted that he was able to win an entire sword-fighting tournament at just 15 years old. His skills with a sword and shield, using Sophitia's style of combat, are incredibly impressive and able to overcome even the most skilled warriors in the world. Even still, his sword and shield prowess pales in comparison to his skill in Battōjutsu and Iaido, which he learned from Setsuka and was said to be a prodigy in)

Powers and Abilities

Standard Equipment

*Stigma Sword & Arcadia Shield: The Stigma Sword was forged by Patroklos himself under the guidance of his father. The Arcadia Shield was the last weapon ever created by Rothion, who claimed the shield was created from divine ore from Hephaestus, just like Sophitia's own weapons. He designed the symbol of an elk on this shield as well, representing the goddess Artemis. The shield doubles as a sheath for his sword.

  • Soul Calibur: The Spirit Sword that has fought countless battles against Soul Edge behind the scenes of history, unbeknownst to man. It reacts to those of pure heart and gives its wielder the power to counter darkness. Just like the dark sword, it can change its form. It is a sword of light that fills its wielder with vitality merely by being held, but apparently, it is somewhat weak against direct impact. After the Soul Calibur is passed from Siegfried to Patroklos, it initially assumes the form of the Stigma Sword & Arcadia Shield.

It is a sword of light that fills its wielder with vitality merely by being held, but apparently, it is somewhat weak against direct impact. Once Patroklos realized who he was, the Soul Calibur changed its form to the type of sword Patroklos had more experince in using; an Iai Blade, similar to that used by his master, Setsuka.

Optional Equipment

*Stigma Sword & Dunamis Shield: Patroklos's regular sword, coupled with a golden shield baring the design of a feline. This shield was likely gifted to Patroklos by Graf Dumas, to assist in his hunt on the Malfested.

  • Spatha & Scutum: A fairly standard-looking sword and shield, baring a Roman-esque design.
  • Skull's Horn: This weapon set has a jagged sword and shield with a dark looking skull with horn mofit that matches both the shield and the sword handle as well.
  • Icicle: This weapon set shows a unique looking tear drop shaped shield that has an ice colored with a bronze-gold colored handle on the sword.
  • Gift From The Sea: Patroklos's joke weapon. This weapon set displays a stingray as his shield, and a large salmon for his sword.

*Entelechia: This weapon set shows a simple lai blade with a white colored handle and a black colored scabbard.

  • Asherah: This weapon set shows a curved blade with a white colored handle and scabbard that has Hebrew markings.
  • Dainslef: This weapon set shows a very thin broadsword with gold colored lining and the name is based from Scandinavia. Dainslef is a weapon based on the Norse gods which was used by King Hogni in the Hjaoningvig battle.
  • Hidden Fang: A weapon set that, when sheathed, resembles a cane with a dragon's skull decoration.
  • Hidden Sword: This weapon is based on the design of a Zatoichi sword.
  • Hidden Bamboo: α Patroklos's joke weapon. This weapon set has an extremely thin blade concealed within a bamboo handle.

Other

Weaknesses: Patroklos can be quite arrogant and overconfident, often taunting opponent's and looking down on them regardless of who they are. He can be quite selfish in his desire to find his sister, refusing most help along the way. His original fighting style, which copies that of his mother, Sophitia, is said to be a pale imitation of her skills. Soul Calibur can be destroyed fairly easily if struck in the correct spots, and can let out maelstroms of power too immense for Patroklos's body to withstand.
