Background

The Guardian Digger (あなのぬし, Hole Master) is a mini-boss in MOTHER 2 (localized as EarthBound). There are five of them that appear in the Dusty Dunes Mine, each of which claiming to be the third strongest master of the hole.

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Superhuman Speed, Damage Boost and Forcefield Negation (Can occasionally land critical hits that deal much more damage than standard physical attacks. Critical hits instantly destroy a target's physical shield), Mind Manipulation and Energy Manipulation (Can manipulate psychic energy using PSI), Forcefield Creation, Damage Reduction, and Attack Reflection (Can use Shield β to put up a shield that halves damage and reflects half of all damaged recieved back at the attacker), Healing (Able to use Lifeup α to restore its own Hp), Natural Weaponry (Able to claw with its sharp nails as an attack), Non-Physical Interaction, Metaphysics Manipulation (Soul Manipulation), and Immortality Negation (Type 7; All enemies in Mother 2 should be able to kill ghosts, given that enemies inflicted with strangeness are able to attack each other)

Notable Techniques

• Base: A standard melee attack that does damage.

• Claw: The Guardian Digger claws with its sharp nails, dealing high amounts of damage.

• Tear: The Guardian Digger tears into the target, dealing high amounts of damage.

• Shield β: Creates a three layered shield that halves the damage of all physical attacks. Each layer is depleted by a single hit, and the entire shield is destroyed by a critical hit. Using this while a shield is already active will add three more layers onto it.

• Lifeup α: Restores 75 to 125 Hp to itself.

Standard Tactics: The Guardian Digger attacks by bashing or using its claws, and it will use PSI to fortify itself with shields and heal itself. It begins battles with a power shield active.

Weaknesses: Has barely any resistance to PK Flash. Unable to defend itself if it is inflicted with Paralysis.
