Background

Severus Snape was an English half-blooded wizard that was sorted into Slytherin house. Born to Tobias Snape and Eileen Prince, Snape's home life was less than ideal. Living in a poor area of Spinner's End, Snape was abused by his father and neglected by his mother. In his early life, he met Lily Evans, a muggleborn witch, and developed a close friendship with her, even growing to love her, although Lily never reciprocated these feelings.

Snape attended Hogwarts in 1971 and was sorted into Slytherin House. Much to his dismay, Lily was sorted into Gryffindor. Snape met who would become the future Marauders, being James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, and began to instantly despise them. James and Snape got along particularly badly, with the former often bullying the latter for his feelings towards Lily and Snape's desire to be in Slytherin. This tension was further heightened when Snape developed a passion for the Dark Arts and revenge, joining a group of Slytherin bullies who would largely make up the future Death Eaters.

This passion for the Dark Arts, and friendship with many pure-blood supremecists strained his friendship with Lily. Their friendship eventually broke in Snape's fifth year, where he inadverdantly called Lily a 'Mudblood', a highly offensive term for muggleborn witches and wizards, after being humiliated by James Potter and his gang. This would later become Snape's worst memory. By their seventh year, James had matured enough for Lily to start dating him, only fuelling the hatred Snape had for him even more. James and Lily later married and had a son, who they named Harry.

Throughout the First Wizarding War, Snape became an important Death Eater and spy for Lord Voldemort. However, this all changed once Snape eavesdropped on a prophecy from Sybil Trelawney, fortelling Lord Voldemort's demise at the hands of a baby born at the end of July. He reported this prophecy to Voldemort, who decided that Harry Potter was the infant the prophecy described, endangering Lily in the process. Filled with immeasurable grief, Snape pleaded with Voldemort to spare her, which he agreed to. Not trusting the Dark Lord, Snape also approached Dumbledore and asked her to save Lily and her family. Dumbledore agreed, but insisted that Snape acted as a spy among the Death Eaters.

Despite their efforts, James and Lily were betrayed by Peter Pettigrew, and murdered by Lord Voldemort on Halloween 1981. Distraught and remorseful over Lily's death, Snape promised to spend the rest of his life protecting Harry Potter out of respect for her memory. However, Harry Potter also served as living evidence that Lily, the woman who Snape loved unconditionally, had given her love to someone else. Because of this, and the boy's close resemblance to James Potter, Snape despised Harry and was cruel to him whenever he had the chance. Throughout Harry's years at Hogwarts, he and Snape grew to detest each other further and further each year.

However, everything came to a boiling point in Harry's sixth year. Unbeknownst to much of the wizarding world, Dumbledore was dying from a powerful curse, and instructed Snape to be the one to kill him in order to both prevent Dumbledore from a painful death, and to protect Draco Malfoy from Lord Voldemort's wrath.

Snape did so and killed Dumbledore, enraging Harry and heightening the hatred between them to untold levels. Despite much of the world's thinking, Snape still worked against Voldemort, becoming a Hogwarts Headmaster to protect the students from Death Eaters. Throught Harry Potter's hunt for Horcruxes, Snape discreetly aided him, helping him and giving Harry time to destroy Horcruxes, in order to render the Dark Lord mortal once more.

Severus Snape was killed by Voldemort in 1998 during the Battle of Hogwarts, as Voldemort had believed that Snape was the master of the Elder Wand, and sought to gain its mastery for himself. Fortunately, Harry found Snape, and with his dying breaths, provided Harry with his memories, allowing Harry to see who Snape truly was and giving him the information he needed to kill Voldemort once and for all. After Voldemort's death, Harry ensured that Snape was remembered as a hero and even ordered that his portrait be hung up in Dumbledore's office in rememberence of him. In a show of respect for the man he detested, Harry named his second son, Albus Severus Potter, after him.

As such he should be comparable to casual feats of extremely powerful wizards such as Albus Dumbledore, who casually created a fog over London, Voldemort; who blew a hole in Azkaban, Gellert Grindelwald, who very casually covered Paris in banners and Credence Barebones, who broke part of a mountain with a regular wand.)

Durability: Wall level physically (Comparable to Harry Potter, who survived being slammed through a brick wall by Nagini, and tanked a hit from a Hungarian Horntail’s tail, which can shatter stone), Multi-City Block level magically (Snape’s defensive magic comes from the same origin as his offensive magic, which should make Shield Charms and his magic overall comparable to his more powerful spells)

Reaction Speed: Superhuman (Can duel comprarably to Harry Potter, who can react while flying on his Firebolt and can react while flying on his own), likely Massively Hypersonic (Should be comparable in speed to Harry Potter and deflected his spells before he could fire them, making him comparable in speed to Lord Voldemort. Voldemort has flown from Austria to the English Channel in a very short time, created a lightning bolt which spread throughout the clouds and should be superior to other wizards, who have created objects that have been compared to shooting stars. Even if these aren’t truly shooting stars, they should be comparable in speed to be noticed at all in the atmosphere.)

Stamina: Very High (Despite his frame, Snape is an extremely powerful wizard that has done very strnuous activities without sign of fatigue. He fought in the Battle of the Seven Potters and Battle of the Astronomy Tower without noticable injury or noticable fatigue. This was also the case in the Battle of Hogwarts, where he was a participant. Even during his death, after being attacked by a snake and having his throat slit, he was still able to give Harry Potter his memories before dying. He has fought powerful witches and wizards such as Harry Potter and Minerva McGonagall. In addition to this, his mental strength was rather great, as he managed to play a double-agent for Dumbledore for 17 years, which required mentally blocking his love for Lily Potter and his alleigance with Dumbledore from Voldemort, while also allowing Voldemort to see into his mind enough so he was not suspicious.)

Intelligence: Genius (Snape was a genius in both his academics and in social situations. He was able to play a double agent for Dumbledore so convincingly that not even Lord Voldemort suspected anything. His skill in Occlumency was unparallelled, even able to defend from mental attacks from Voldemort. He successfully created many spells himself, such as Sectumsempra, Muffliato, Levicorpus and Langlock. He was stated by Sirius Black to know more spells and curses in his 1st year than many 7th year students knew. He was a master potioneer, proficient in altering potion recipes to make them more efficient and easier, something Harry Potter utilised in his years at Hogwarts. He was skilled and smart enough to face Minerva McGonagall in a one-on-one duel and hold his own. Snape was able to fly unsupported, a skill only Lord Voldemort had known, and was considered to be a skilled wizard by many powerful Death Eaters. His skill was so great that he managed to defeat Harry Potter in a duel using Occlumency to predict his attacks and defend before Harry had a chance to cast them.)
