Background

Mangle is a major antagonist and one of the toy animatronics of the Five Nights at Freddy's series, first appearing in Five Nights at Freddy's 2. They are a reimagined version of the original Foxy, and was later repurposed after being severely damaged. It is Foxy's redesigned counterpart from the past and an improved replacement of Foxy's pre-rebuilt incarnation Withered Foxy, serving as the building toy of the newly refurbished Freddy Fazbear's Pizza of 1987.

Codex Statistics

Tier: 9-B

Cardinality: Finite

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: Wall level (Potency) (Should be comparable to the other animatronics, who can crush[1] skulls[2], survive[3] collapsing buildings[4], and are unharmed by a car crash that broke through a billboard[5]. Can one-shot the security guard[6]. They should scale to their novel counterparts due to being just as canon to the games, and are noted as alternate continuities[7]. The animatronics in the novels can tear off bathroom doors, destroy other animatronics their size, break open hinged doors, casually snap people's necks, break open a ceiling, break through a slide, and punch holes through people[8])

Durability: Wall level (Comparable to other animatronics who can survive collapsing buildings and car crashes)

Striking Strength: Wall Class (Potency)

Lifting Strength: Peak Human (In The Silver Eyes, it is stated that the animatronics are capable of lifting and tossing large arcade cabinets as if they were toys)

Travel Speed: Superhuman (Can climb from the lower vent to the ceiling seemingly in a second. Comparable to Freddy Fazbear, who can run across the right end of Fazbear's Pizza to the left end in seconds)

Attack Speed: Superhuman

Reaction Speed: Superhuman

Stamina: High (Seemingly able to stay active for at least 6 hours)

Range: Standard Melee

Intelligence: Unknown (While patrolling as an ordinary animatronic, Mangle has shown to be well aware of his surroundings and even attempt to trick the night guard in question)

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Body Control (Animatronics are able to be dismantled, such as Mangle and move around despite that), Enhanced Senses (Can see and move around in the dark), Stealth Mastery (All animatronics are capable of hiding within the cameras, requiring the night guard to use the technology of the building to find them. Can quickly leave out of sight once a room goes dark), Inorganic Physiology (Non-living Object), Self-Sustenance (Respiratory Self-Sustenance, Nutritional Self-Sustenance, & Restful Self-Sustenance), Invisibility (Can turn invisible via cloaking), Illusion Creation (Standard Illusions; The animatronics at times can make the building change), Information Analysis (The toys have a facial recognition software to detect criminals), Passive Technological Manipulation (An animatronic's mere appearance causes the technology to flicker and turn off, all animatronics upon entering a room causes the camera to go static), Berserk Mode (The toy animatronics were stated to get more aggressive overtime).

Resistance to Electricity Manipulation (Every animatronic in Pizzeria Simulator can be shocked without much damage. Sister Location animatronics can take controlled shocks)

Other

Standard Tactics:

Did uh... ..Foxy ever appear in the hallway? Probably not. I was just curious. Like I said, he was always my favorite. They tried to remake Foxy, you know? Uh, they thought the first one was too scary. So they redesigned him to be more kid friendly and put him in kid's cove. Uh, to keep the toddlers entertained, you know. But kids these days just can't keep their hands to themselves. The staff literally had to put Foxy back together during just every shift. So eventually they just stopped trying and left him in some kind of "take apart, put back together" attraction. Now he's just a mess of parts. I think the employees refer to him as just...the mangle.
Due to being within an animatronic, each animatronic has a movement cycle they go by, Mangle begins the night in a corner at Kid's Cove, in a contorted heap of machinery. Once activated, they will mainly travel the pizzeria via the ceiling. However, in some rooms, they may be seen traveling via either wall or floor, almost appearing to spectate the area. They travel through the Prize Corner, Game Area, Main Hall, the hallway outside the Office, then Party Room 1, and then Party Room 2, before finally crawling through the Right Air Vent to reach the Office. Once Mangle is spotted in the Right Air Vent's blind spot, the player must put on the Freddy Fazbear Head to ward them off. If the player brings up and then lowers the Monitor before putting the head on, Mangle will appear on the ceiling in the night guard's office. Unlike other animatronics, Mangle cannot be repelled by the Freddy Fazbear Head in this position, no matter how fast the player's reaction time is. At this point, Mangle may randomly attack after the Monitor is pulled up and down, where their head swings down from the ceiling towards the night guard's face, seemingly intending to bite them.

Unlike the other animatronics in the vents, once Mangle reaches the vent opening he will never leave. Use the vent-snare to prevent her from making it that far.
~ Mangle's description in Ultimate Custom Night
Mangle, like a few other animatronics, will climb into the Vents to attack the player. To fend them off, the player needs to activate one of the three available Vent Snares to block off Mangle's attack. However, if they reach the vent opening, they will remain there even if the player closes it and also will never leave once they sneak into the Office. Once they reach the vent opening, they will also stay there and create garbled noises that increase the Noise Meter, which they will continue to create until the end of the night and if they enter the office.

Weaknesses: If it hits 6 AM, the animatronic no longer targets and resorts to its daytime functions, though the toys seem to have messed with having them attack Jeremy Fitzgerald during the day. Can be fooled by a Freddy mask, though once they enter the office and hang on the ceiling, the mask cannot fool them. Bright light will hold Mangle in place for a few seconds.

  7. "The truth is that after a while lore can become so dense that there isn't room for a story anymore. Another truth is that what makes for a good game doesn't necessarily make for a good book. Sometimes a timeline gets so full that the only way to tell a real story is have the story set in a different timeline, an alternate universe, a different location, or perhaps from a vantage point that isn't entirely what it appears to be."
