I am confused as well. We have seen this before. We lose men in Dark Aether, they come back with bad skin rash. This Krasny Soldat is no different than others we have seen transformed by Aetherium.
Zombies are the main antagonist of the Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Vanguard. Zombies are reanimated humans who were corrupted by Aetherium Crystals and became undead monsters that fest on human flesh.
The following is a background for every zombie type
Hellhounds
The Hellhounds are a zombie type. The Hellhounds have an unknown origin (with the previous ones being the children of Samantha's dog) and only appear in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The Hellhounds are suicide attackers and burst into flames after they are killed. Kazimir Zykov was capable of taming a Hellhound and named them "Cinder", but they sadly killed themself in order to protect Zykov. If a Hellhound is affected by turned, it can be pet.
Heavy Zombies
The Heavy Zombies are a variant of zombies with some armor. They attack in exactly the same way as a normal zombie but are much harder to kill due to the amount of armor they have.
Plaguehound
The Plaguehound is a variant of the Hellhounds. They attack physically instead of just being a suicide attacker. The Plaguehound jumps around and attacks the player with their teeth and claws. On death, it explodes.
Megaton
The Megaton is a boss appearing in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. They are a zombie that fires out radiation bombs and attacks physically. On death, the Megaton splits into the Megaton Blaster and the Megaton Bomber. There is also the Mayak/Overlord variant which serves as a boss in the Die Maschine easter egg. Orlov is another Megaton although he serves as an ally. Orlov was a member of the Omega Group who opened the Cyclotron which killed him and turned him into a Megaton. Orlov was later cured of his zombification by Requiem and after they give him a photo of his family, he agrees to help them.
Russian Mangler Soldier
The Russian Mangler Soldier is a boss appearing in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. They are likely soldiers who were corrupted by the Dark Aether and turned into zombies. They are armored zombies that attack with a sickle and a cannon. They move very slow but after having their armor damaged, they dash towards the enemy and attack them physically.
Krasny Soldat
The Krasny Soldat is a boss appearing in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. They are soldiers who were corrupted by the Dark Aether and turned into zombies. The Kransy Soldat are an armored zombie that flights around and attacks with a flamethrower and physical attacks. They are slow enemies but make up for it by flying around. They can have their jetpacks destroyed to prevent them from flying however.
