Drift

There's a reason behind this world. Things only start to exist when there's a reason for them to. Even me. As long as you exist, you're needed. By something. I was wondering if, for me, that something was you. (...) I realize this may sound a bit contradictory now, but I've never been big on the idea of fate. So even if we only know, I dunno, four percent of what makes up the universe... discovering the remaining 96 percent doesn't really interest me. Neither does wealth, honor, influence... the most important thing for me... is drama. What kind of story are you about to write for us?

Happy Chaos. My name. You're my boss. And I'm gonna be your sacrifice.

People these days. It's about the journey, not the destination. You've confused your goals with your duties, and it's stressing you all out. You see, and forgive me if I'm being indelicate here... You're cursed. You were born without something that humans need: Desire. And unlike the common cold, it's not something you can fix with some ginger tea and nice bath, oh no. Yet, miraculously, you still awakened to your emotions. Society granted them to you.

Huh. I'm popular today.

Happy Chaos. That's my name, but a name's all it is. I am whatever you say or feel me to be. Ah, except... "Which came first, the chicken, or the egg?" You know the question. But do you know the answer? The omelette. The omelette came first. The omelette is the reason the chicken and egg exist. I could be anything you like, or nothing at all. But... I do exist. Anyway, later!

I just want to go somewhere that's not on the map. The United States of America! You've only ever seen the world before the revival. Isn't this a view? You could say it's a work of art crafted by culture and civilization. But as of tomorrow... It might be called hell.

That's a nice jacket you've got there.

The guards? You mean like the guy who gave me this jacket? Give the guy a day off.

All right, Daryl. I'll indulge your question. I don't want to make history, I want to make history fun. I want to write a script for reality, and enjoy some authentic drama. (...) Oh, don't get me wrong. I take no joy in seeing other people suffer. I want to see them struggle. (...) Not at all! A wax figure and a human being: at a glance, it's hard to tell the difference. But the two are entirely different, no? Let's say my goal was to create the strongest shield ever. How would I go about doing that? By creating the strongest sword. A sword justifies the existence of a shield. Humanity has always exhausted every possibility. That's the exact sort of drama I want to see. (...) The motive? Sorry, to me the very idea of motive is nonsense. Cause I'm a wax figure, you see.

This world is brimming with potential. So long as humans put in the effort, they can realize true greatness. Make it a reality. The miracles of nonfiction surpass even the most masterful works fiction writers can dream up. However, if some lady of the lake rose up out of the water and offered you any book in the world... No one would ask for a history book. That's because reality isn't very fun. (...) Is a robbery happening on the other side of the world right now "real" to you? We all write the script of our own lives. Our "reality" is what's written on our own page-- nothing more. The important thing... ...is whether or not we can experience it for ourselves. I'm going to write the history books of the future. And a hundred years from now... Kids won't be falling asleep in class anymore.

It took me ten years to find the answers to something

I forgot about it in two seconds

That's about it

Yeah baby, right right right right right right

(Yeah baby, right right right right right right)

Which way should we go?

Yeah baby, right right right right right right

(Yeah baby, right right right right right right)

I'll see you soon

Two hundred eyes on me

There's a hundred of me

The truth is not always real

I don't want any conclusions

I drift tonight carried by the waves (Carried by waves)

I will just be a black sea

I drift tonight the finite one

And the infinite one (Carried by waves)

It took me ten years to find the answers to something I forgot about it in two seconds

I don't have anything that's really important to me

That's why everything is beautiful

Yeah baby, right right right right right right

(Yeah baby, right right right right right right)

Yeah baby, right right right right right right

(Yeah baby, right right right right right right)

Which way should we go?

A hundred mouths speak of me

A hundred of me will be born

The truth is not always real

I don't want any conclusions

Background

He is the Original, who first discovered the Backyard and taught humanity about magic. After absorbing half of I-No, he suddenly changed drastically. He now carries within himself all of humanity's hope towards living.

He feels that his existence will be forgiven by a greater will when humankind loses their humanity. The concepts of good and evil are of equal value to him. He may cause major incidents, but he could also end up on the side of justice.
