"Mature Content"
This character or verse has mature themes and concepts, thus those of young age are ill-advised to look through these.
Sweet of you to offer. I could really use some coffee. I'm not myself without it.
~ Pandemonica
Oh no... It's quite alright actually. You even filtered it properly this time. Keep it up and you might still survive the day with no fingers broken.
~ Pandemonica

Background

Pandemonica is the first demon encountered in Helltaker, and is a customer service representative in Hell. She is initially referred to as "The Tired Demon", but is later revealed to be a sadist as well.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Pandemonica’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Appearance

Pandemonica, like most of the Helltaker cast, is depicted as a short demon girl with pale skin, red irises, a black arrow-tipped tail, and silvery-white hair. Her hair is wavy and fashioned in 3 large curls resting on her forehead, with the middle curl being larger than the two on either side. It reaches down both sides of her head, tucked behind her ears, with both ends curling inwards at the bottom of her head close to her chin. Additionally, she has a pony tail on the back of her head with two more large, distinctive curls. Poking out of her hair are two small black horns that are rounded at the tips. She has white eyebrows and has visible dark circles under her rounded eyes, giving her a tired appearance as her alias would suggest; after drinking coffee though, her eyes become much more sharp and angular, and her horns grow much larger, first curving in toward her ponytail and then upwards, and are much sharper. Over her eyes are a pair of round-framed glasses.

Pandemonica also has a very professional look in terms of attire; She wears a red button-up long-sleeve shirt with a large folded collar underneath a black long-sleeved blazer, as well as a black pencil skirt and black gloves. How the skirt makes accommodations for her tail is unknown. She also wears an ID on a black lanyard, and can upon first interaction is also seen holding a red clipboard.

Personality

Pandemonica was originally full of all of vanripper's favourite traits, like being socially awkward but polite, archaic in an elegant way, and a tired hard worker; however, upon remembering that Helltaker was supposed to be a game about bad demon girls, vanripper added a more sadistic side to her personality which is brought out after she drinks coffee. She is either tired or sadistic, and is happy to break the Helltaker's fingers if he makes bad coffee.

Encounter

When the Helltaker first encounters Pandemonica at the end of Level 1, she introduces herself as "Hell's Customer Service". She then asks the player how she can serve them, to which the player is presented with two response options:

  1. "We can figure something out at my place"
  2. "Maybe I can serve YOU instead?"

If the player picks the first option, Pandemonica asks the player if they really think they'll leave Hell alive, and call them delusional. The player is greeted with one of many "Bad End" screens, where it is explained that she snapped your neck "with professional gentleness".

If the player picks the second option, Pandemonica eases up and slouches over, adjusting her glasses. She says that it's sweet of you to offer, and that she could use some coffee because she's not herself without it. Pandemonica joins the party and the player is greeted with a "SUCCESS" prompt, advancing on to Level 2.

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Immortality (Types 1 and possibly 8; Demons such as Lucifer can live for ancient times and longer without showing actual aging. Possibly comparable to Judgement, who exists as an avatar of pain. Due to several of the demons being referenced to the seven deadly sins, this should be literal), Sheer Will (Hell requires a lot of willpower in order to live in it. Losing will kills anyone in Hell), Enhanced Senses (Comparable to Justice, who can act while blind without assistance), Minor Size Manipulation (Pandemonica's horns grow when no longer tired), Multiple Personalities (Pandemonica has three different personalities. She has her regularly tired state, a sadistic side to herself when having coffee, and a kind personality with high quality coffee).
Resistance to Smoke Manipulation (Hell naturally has hellfire smoke filling up people's lungs[1])

Equipment

Clipboard, Coffee

Other

Standard Tactics: Pandemonica's only instance of combat would be snapping someone's neck.

Weaknesses: Commonly tired without proper rest or coffee.
