Background

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Blank’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Originally Blank was attacked by one of the previous workers at Candy's Burger and Fries before Mary applied.

Despite the damage, Blank is still loved by the kdis with them always drawing on him.

It attempts to attack Mary throughout the multiple nights at Candy's and fails each time.

In Five Nights at Candy's 2 Blank is now decaying and withered attempting to attack Marylin throughout the multiple nights at the Rowboatics Corps.

Appearance

General Description: Blank is a somewhat white-colored template animatronic with faded colors on his body, where children took crayons and drew on him.

Five Nights at Candy's / Remastered: His body appears damaged, missing the endoskeleton on his left forearm and the back of his head. His left hand is completely missing. He has a few holes on his body. This is because the previous guard attempted to destroy Blank with a wrench.

Five Nights at Candy's 2 (Unwithered): Blank can be seen unwithered in the first minigame, appearing the same as he was in the first game's minigame. In the Night 6 second minigame, the player can see Blank's original appearance.

Withered Blank: The most withered out of any of the animatronics, with larger holes and deep cuts. Large proportions of the left side of his face were torn off, with his endoskeleton face partly visible. He has a huge rip from the chest down to his pelvis, while the hole from the right side of his chest was bigger. He is missing the suit parts from both shoulders, left bicep, right forearm, and legs from the knee down. His left forearm is entirely gone, and his right hand was ripped off. Children's drawings and writings on his suit were washed off, leaving a more smeared texture.

Alternate Forms/Disguises: His unwithered and withered appearances are considered variations of Blank across the series.

Notable Techniques

Jumpscare

Blank effectively sneak attacks Mary Schmidt or Marylin Schmidt depending on the game.

They quick attack which likely in-universe catches Mary or Marylin off guard before grabbing and killing them.

Other

Standard Tactics

Starting on Night 3, and rarely on Night 2, Blank goes through a series of transitions: first lifting his head, then standing up, and finally disappearing. Immediately after leaving Cam 11, he appears on Cam 05, entering the office through the ticket booth. If the Mary checks that camera while he is there, he will punch the window in an attempt to break into the Office. This can be slightly delayed if the Mary does not check the camera. If the door is not shut when he attacks, he will smash through the ticket booth window, causing the power to flicker and then go out shortly after, resulting in a jumpscare that ends the run.

On Night 5, Blank becomes extremely aggressive to the point that Cam 5 should never be checked.

Blank appears to become less aggressive after each attack. After four attacks, he will remain disabled for the rest of the night.

Blank occasionally activates on Night 4, though this is uncommon and he only appears later in the night, if at all. On Night 5 he is always active, behaving much like the standard animatronics, Withered New Candy and Withered New Cindy, wandering from room to room. He is also lured away by the phones. If a phone is called in his current room, he will disconnect it almost instantly, disabling it for a short time.

Weaknesses

Trivia

  • Some fans refer to him as "The Window Cleaner," since the way he punches the ticket booth window makes him resemble a poor window cleaner.
  • As Phone Guy explains, Blank has a special plastic coating that lets children draw on him.
    • This is similar to how Mangle in Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is a take-apart attraction, a result of being ruined by children.
  • According to Phone Guy in Five Nights at Candy's, Blank was repeatedly struck with a wrench by the previous security guard, who became mentally unstable after experiencing the supernatural events throughout the restaurant. This is what caused his damage and the holes surrounding him.
  • As Phone Guy also states, Blank had attempted to break through the security office window before and cracked the glass in the process. When he attacks it in the game, however, the glass shatters completely.
    • The fact that the glass shatters in-game could be explained if the window glass was never replaced.
      • Some objects also move or fall over after Blank punches the window in the game.
  • Blank and Shadow Candy are the only animatronics that attack through the office window.
    • Blank and Shadow Candy, in the pre-remaster version, are also the only animatronics that do not enter the office through the doors.
  • Blank behaves similarly to Foxy in Five Nights at Freddy's 1, remaining on a single camera while slowly preparing to move, and will instantly kill the player if the proper precautions are not taken.
  • There is a rare chance that Blank may attack the player on early nights, though it is highly unlikely and will only occur near the end of the night.
  • As seen in a cutscene, Blank had eyebrows before he was broken.
  • Blank emits a different sound during his jumpscare, along with RAT and Old Candy.
  • Various drawings on him reference the FNaF series.
    • Beneath his left eye, a drawing of Foxy can be seen.
    • On the left side of his torso, a drawing of Freddy can be seen, though it is relatively small and difficult to make out.
    • On the top right of his torso, a drawing of Bonnie can be seen.
    • On the top of his right eye, a drawing of Chica can be seen, though it is small and harder to spot due to the coloring.
    • On the top of his left eye, a drawing depicts William Afton killing a child.
  • On Blank's lower jaw, two written names can be seen: "Jane" and "Bob."
    • It is possible these are the twins murdered by The Rat who later, thanks to Vinnie, possess Candy and Cindy, but this has yet to be confirmed.
  • As evidenced by the FNaC 2 minigames, Blank appears to be the most popular attraction at Candy's Burgers & Fries, having been active for the longest period of time. He was introduced alongside Old Candy around 1964 and remained in service at least until 1993, after Old Candy had been retired, the rest of the FNaC 1 cast had been introduced, and a revamped Candy and Cindy had debuted, though The Penguin's retirement is unconfirmed.
  • Blank's appearance closely resembles Springtrap from Five Nights at Freddy's 3, except that he lacks a snout and ears, shows far fewer signs of deterioration, and has stubs where his ears would be. He also has a bright white color.
  • His broken left arm in FNaC, FNaC: R, and FNaC 2 is similar to how Afton appears after the fire in FNaF 3 and during FNaF 6.
  • Blank seems to reference Sans from Undertale in one of his lines in Candy's Adventure, winking at the camera while saying "I know a shortcut," possibly referencing Sans' method of teleporting.
