Old Candy serves as the replacement for The Cat and is one of the antagonists in Five Nights at Candy's and Five Nights at Candy's Remastered. He and The Rat were scrapped and stored in the Parts & Service room. His newer counterpart for the current Candy's Burgers & Fries, Candy the Cat, took his place.

Old Candy does not appear in the main gameplay of Five Nights at Candy's 2, but he is featured in the Night 6 minigames.

He is also absent from the main gameplay of Five Nights at Candy's 3, though he appears in the Candy's Adventure minigame.

Background

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Old Candy’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Old Candy does not have much story beyond being the first replacement for The Cat. It attempts to attack Mary Schmidt in the first Five Nights at Candy's though ultimately fails.

In Five Nights at Candy's 2, Old Candy sometimes shows up in the minigame, following Shadow Candy and lead him to parts and service room where a technician sees Old Candy and runs at it.

Old Candy in a later minigame finds a kid in the office crying, upon seeing Old Candy the kid is happy and leaves the room. Old Candy follows the kid to an adult scolding the child with Old Candy misinterpreting it as the parent attacking the child thus it approaches to stop the adult ending the minigame.

Appearance

General Description: Old Candy looks much larger and bulkier than Candy, and has dark blue fur.

Five Nights at Candy's 1: He lacks a tie, and more of his endoskeleton is exposed. His shoulders are barely covered, with his endoskeleton showing and wires traveling down his arms. At first glance, he seems to lack eyes altogether, but on closer inspection, he has eyes that are completely dark. His pupils do not light up.

Five Nights at Candy's 2: In the minigames, he appears the same as he was in the first game, having a lack of eyes and a darker color than Candy. However, he is in a better state of repair as seen in the 1964 cutscenes from the first game. He only appears in three minigames after Night 2, first seen in the Penguin minigame in a filing cabinet, and two times being in his full working condition.

Five Nights at Candy's 3: In the minigames, he appears the same as his original design, but with a more cartoonish design.

Goals

  • Kill the Night Guard (Failed).

Notable Techniques

Jumpscare

Old Candy effectively sneak attacks Mary Schmidt.

They quick attack which likely in-universe catches Mary or Marylin off guard before grabbing and killing them.

Other

Standard Tactics
Old Candy remains inactive until Night 3, where he usually appears on cameras 10 (Parts & Services), 9, and 8, never getting close to Mary's office in the timeframe of Night 3.

From Night 4 onward, he officially becomes very active in attacking Mary Schmidt, leaving his hiding place in Cam 10. The next time he appears, he is shown standing in the middle of the room looking at Mary after leaving his spot. From there, Old Candy slowly travels through Cams 9, 8, 7, and 6 until he reaches Mary's left door.

Because he lacks glowing eyes, there is no way to see him on the cameras unless without night vision. This also applies when Old Candy is at the door, the only way to spot him is by using night vision on the camera. If he is there, a hint of blue may be visible. This hint of blue is present in the original game but not in Five Nights at Candy's Remastered.

If Mary Schmidt does not act after a few seconds, the sound changes to a much louder, electric humming, warning Mary that they must close the left door to prevent Old Candy from disabling the door and entering the office. The humming sound is entirely absent in the remaster, however.

On Night 5, Old Candy becomes extremely aggressive, being the first to kill Mary Schmidt in most cases if they leave the doors open.

Weaknesses

Trivia

  • He is one of the three animatronics not shown in the trailer, the other two being The Penguin and The Rat.
  • Unlike The Rat at both doors and Blank behind the window, he does not have glowing eyes when he appears at the left door.
  • He emits the same jumpscare sound as Blank.
  • Although his eyes do not glow, a small patch of blue in the doorway can still reveal his presence. This blue can indicate either him or The Rat, since The Rat's eyes also do not glow and he appears in both doorways.
  • Even though he is decommissioned, Old Candy appears relatively undamaged, especially compared to the withered animatronics from Five Nights at Freddy's 2. However, he does have more of his endoskeleton exposed than Candy does, and he is missing his eyes.
  • The humming sound Old Candy emits when he is at the door can also be used to tell if The Rat is at the doors on later nights, which can be very useful to the player on 7/20 mode.
  • In Backstage 2, the cardboard cutout head is presumably the cartoon version of Old Candy, as it resembles him and looks very different from the cartoon version of the newer Candy.
  • Old Candy's design was most likely inspired by the popular American TV show Tom and Jerry, which aired from the 1940s through the 1980s. This is evidenced by the cartoonish cardboard cutout of his head in Cam 07, as well as the broader inclusion of Tom and Jerry and its music, composed by Scott Bradley, throughout the franchise.
  • In Old Candy's first teaser, brightening the image reveals the text "Cam 12" and "I see you." Cam 12 is not a location Old Candy visits, so it may have been the beta location for Parts & Services.

However, Cam 12 is one of the locations in Five Nights at Candy's 2.

  • Old Candy was put into retirement after the Night 6 minigame of FNaC 2, judging from the Night 3 phone message from Five Nights at Candy's Remastered.
  • In the original FNaC, he started moving on Night 3 onward, but in the Remastered version this was changed to Night 4.
  • The non-canon Nightmare Candy appears to be based on his design.
