Background

Astro Boy (also known as Mighty Atom in Japan) is the main protagonist of the titular manga series written by Osamu Tezuka. He is a super-powered robot who is modeled after Tobio Tenma, the son of the director of Japan's Ministry of Science, Dr. Umotaro Tenma. Tobio died in a car crash in the distant future of 2003. Dr. Tenma, in a fit of grief, funneled most of the Ministry's resources into creating a perfect robot, one that could act like a human and would replace his son. Thus Astro was born.

However, Tenma realized that "Tobio" would never grow like his real son, and, disgusted by the reminder of his son's death, Tenma sold the robot to the circus. There Tobio was rebranded as Astro Boy, and set to star in his own act. The new director of the Ministry, Professor Ochanomizu, saw Astro at the circus, recognized him as a special robot, and took him away from the circus. He built a family for Astro and enrolled him in school. Astro now spends his time balancing helping Ochanomizu, the police, and world governments solve problems and living a normal life.

Standard Tactics: As a pacifist, Astro usually attempts to solve situations intelligently with diplomacy, even though, he isn't afraid to rely on his speed and strength if he has no choice. Astro can also use his powers in conjunction to take out a few enemies at the same time.

Weaknesses: Sometimes over-exerts himself to the point of dangerously draining his power supply.

• Rocket Jets: Astro's most known ability, in which he retracts his hands and feet into arms/legs and blowing exhaust out of them to propel himself through the air, allowing him to fly at high speeds and travel in space. He can also use his jets to create momentum for attacking more powerful enemies, blow away enemies and set things on fire by using them like flamethrowers.
• Hyper-Sensitive Hearing: Astro can enhance his hearing by amplifying his ear settings to 1000 times, able to hear unspecified distances away.
• Hip Machine Guns: Astro has dual machine guns hidden inside his hips, which are powerful enough to destroy machines, part of a tank and shoot through the ground.
• Finger Lasers: Astro can shoot out laser beams from his index fingers, which are capable of blowing off robots and cutting through many layers of metal.
