Background

Lanney Ca’Hadean, more commonly known as Lanney is a ally character in the YouTube and Newgrounds animation web series Gwain Saga. She is a friend of Ami who runs a bakery called Gwain Bucks. She presents herself as a Teoran who doesn't know how to use her element, but in reality, she is a skilled rock user. Later in the series Lanney would have to overcome her fear of embarrassment and would use her element to save her friends from Tahjin.

History Pre-Gwain Saga Not much is known about Lanney's past but at a young age she would meet and befriend Princess Ami, Deva, and Agni. One day she would eventually find out that her element was the element of rock. Lanney would feel embarrassed about her element and would hide it from everyone, allowing everyone to believe she didn't know what her element was. Later, Lanney would manage the bakery known as Gwain Bucks and would become a rival to the bakery next to hers. Gwain Saga - 002 While shopping for bread flour, Lanney would find Ami in a disguise with a mysterious person sneaking around the market. Lanney would see through her disguise and would ask her how she was allowed to shop in the market despite the dangers it posed to her. Ami would respond by showing off that the mysterious person with her was Geo, her personal bodyguard. Lanney would introduce herself to Geo and would tell the two about mysterious attacks going around the kingdom. Soon after, the person responsible for these attacks (Who Lanney and her fiends would later find out was Luna) would ride into the market on motorcycle and would begin firing bullets at Ami. Geo would step in to the block the bullets but as a result, he would be knocked down. Lanney would hide behind Ami as she fired her bow and arrow at Luna and would watch as Geo and Luna would begin fighting. Secretly using her powers, Lanney would create a sinkhole underneath Luna and her robot, which would bring the fight underground as Geo smashed Luna and her robot through said sinkhole. After the battle, Lanney would watch as Geo climbed out of the sinkhole with part of the robot's arm. Lanney would thank Geo for protecting Ami and would return back home. Gwain Saga - 003 At Gwain Collage, Lanney would tell Deva about Ami's new bodyguard, noting that he was both strong and sweet. Ami and Geo would soon arrive to the collage, with the latter's presence alerting Agni. Agni, believing Geo was a threat to his friends would confront him but he would be stopped by Deva, who told him who Geo is. Agni would apologize and the group would walk towards campus while discussing Geo's position in the royal guard and his earlier battle with Forrest Wolves. Lanney would tell her friends that Geo probably didn't want to be bombarded with questions before accidently walking into Solaris, the school's principle. Lanney would be told to take off her hat and the group would be sent to their classes while Agni showed off the school to Geo. Lanney would be present during Luna's attack on Gwain Collage, where she would secretly use her powers to launch away one of Luna's robots. Lanney would then watch as Geo and her friends fought off Luna and her robots. Lanney would be present during Geo's training with Gwain, were she would cheer him on after learning how to tag Gwain in combat. Gwain Saga - 004 Lanney would accompany her friends as they walked around the kingdom, getting Geo new clothing, get their hair done, watching a movie, and getting ice cream. While enjoying ice cream, Ami would spot Marlow spying on them within a tree and would fire her stun arrows at her. When Marlow came to, Lanney and the rest of the group would question Marlow's motivates, who would then tell the group that Geo wasn't a Teoran and was a threat to the kingdom. Lanney would then watch as Geo ran after Marlow and would ask Ami if she knew what Marlow was talking about. Lanney and her friends would eventually catch up to both Geo and Marlow, and Gwain would appear, questioning what was going on. After a explanation from Ami, Gwain would tell everyone that Geo was a Vampire and would attempt to execute him with Lanney and others protesting. Geo would be saved when Marlow, having been saved by Geo beforehand, convinced Gwain to let Geo live as Marlow agreed help train and watch over him. Lanney and the group would quickly wake up an unconscious Geo before Gwain and Marlow could change their mind. Sometime later, Lanney and the rest of the group would become friends with Marlow, taking a group photo together. Gwain Saga - 005 Lanney and the rest of the group would be told that now that they know Geo's identity, they would need to keep it a secret. While discussing Geo's Vampirism, Deva and Marlow would discuss how being bitten on the neck seemed romantic, which would cause Agni to try to bite Lanney's neck. Agni would be stopped by Deva and Marlow, beating him for his actions. Later, Lanney and the group would help assist Ami in finding Crystals, where they would encounter a Phoenix. As the rest of the group ran away, Lanney would turn herself into rock to protect herself from harm. At the school cafeteria, Marlow would question why Lanney and the rest of the group sit at the back of it. Agni would explain that they are at the lowest part of the school hierarchy, noting Lanney is there due to not knowing her element. When Ami was given a invitation to Electra's birthday party, Lanney would help try to help convince Gwain to allow Ami to go, telling her that Geo will be able to protect Ami in the face of danger. This would only give Gwain more of a reason to not let Ami go, but due to Twain's sudden arrival at the castle, Gwain would push Lanney, Deva, and Ami out of the castle while allowing Ami to go the party. After the party was over, Lanney would note it sounded terrible for Electra. Gwain Saga - 006 When Geo was recovering from his injuries, Lanney would be tasked to take care of him while the rest of the group was gone. While Geo was trying to get a spoon for his food, he would spot Lanney using her element to take out the trash. Lanney would notice Geo staring at her and would be shocked to learn that someone had seen her element. Gwain Saga - 007 Lanney would make Geo ice cream to apologize for not telling him she had a element the whole time. Lanney would then try to explain to Geo why she hide her element, telling him that it embarrassed her and made her feel uneasy. Geo would then hug Lanney to comfort her, which would be seen by both the rival bakery manager and Ami, which would embarrass Lanney even more. Lanney would try to explain herself, stating she would never hug Ami's boyfriend, which would shock Ami. Lanney would then tell her to relax, stating she never told anyone she saw them sleep together, which shocked her even more. A flashback would play showing Lanney going to Geo's clocktower to bring him breakfast, where she would find Ami atop Geo is a suspicious position. Lanney would apologize for interrupting while Ami would try to explain that it wasn't what it looked like. Geo would tiredly awaken and would accidently faceplant into Ami's chest, making the situation worse. Lanney would quicky run out of the room, apologizing while doing so, and the flashback would end. Geo would overhear the conversation and would question what they were talking about, causing Ami to shoot various sleeping arrows at him. Ami would angrily yell at Lanney, who would nervously apologize, telling Ami she thought her and Geo were together. Ami would forgive Lanney while Geo annoyingly watched from the table before passing out again. Sometime later, Lanney would ask Agni what he would think if he had a friend with a really big secret, to which Agni would tell her that there will always be secrets between friends. Lanney would comment how that was a similar response to what Savien told her, which surprised Agni. Lanney would tell Agni that Savien was sweet and smart and Agni would question if Savien did anything to her. Lanney would tell him that Savien just listened to her. Agni would then explain one of his previous encounters with Savien, where Savien deactivated his and Geo's automatic blinking and breathing, scaring the both of them. Deva would that walk in and would tell the two that the opening curtain attendant was tonight and that they had to take Ami with them. As Geo wasn't able to attend to the ceremony, Agni decided to reestablish the Gwain Warriors, a group dedicated to protecting the Kingdom of Gwain. Deva would mention how it was name of the group when they were young and took Ami out to play. Marlow would question if Lanney was apart of the group, with Agni answering no, as she only really had staring contests with the girl from the other bakery. As Ami, Deva, and Agni left, Lanney would ask Marlow the same question she asked Savien and Agni. Lanney and Marlow would watch the ceremony on the news and would realize that the presenter was Luna. Marlow would instruct Lanney to head to Geo's clocktower and tell him what's going on as she rushed off to the ceremony. Despite being worried about Geo feelings about her due to the events from before, Lanney would make her way towards the clocktower. At the clocktower Lanney would find an note from Geo, stating he will be back. Lanney would jump down the clocktower and would rush towards the ceremony, telling herself not to cry during the stressful situation. At the ceremony, Lanney would be stopped from talking to Queen Gwain by her guards, as she was occupied with defending herself from Ami's mindreading. More stressed than ever, Lanney would realize she had to scale a 150 meter statue of Gwain after learning Deva and Agni have been captured and are being held there by Tahjin and Jea. Lanney would hop over the fence, which would rip her clothing and reveal her leotard, embarrassing her. Lanney would realize she needed to put her fears and insecurities aside to save her friends and would use her element to give herself rock gloves. She would then begin to scale the tower facing various amounts of Tahjin's forces trying to stop her. At the top of the statue, Lanney would confront Jea and would ask him if she can leave with her friends. Jea would tell her to beat it and in response, Lanney would use her rocks to launch Jea off the statue. Lanney would come face-to-face with Tahjin and like with Jea before, she would nicely ask him if she can leave with her friends. Tahjin would quickly attack her, which she would block and the two would begin to fight. Lanney and Tahjin would battle as equals until Tahjin used a move that forced Lanney to turn herself into rock and then explode. The attack would knock Tahjin down and Lanney would regenerate, but she would be dizzy and unable to fight anymore. Lanney would except defeat and would begin to think about how if she had trusted her friends and herself more she could have prevented their capture. Thankfully for Lanney, Geo would show up at the last second and would defeat Tahjin, sending him flying away with an punch. Lanney would hug Geo and would cry, telling him how she believed she failed yet how she didn't feel alone anymore. As Lanney was doing this, Jea had climbed back up the statue and was read to confront her, however he would be stopped Deva and Agni, who had awakened from their poisoned state. Geo would then reveal the Crystal Fragment Book in Lanney's hat, which he likely put there beforehand, showing Lanney that she was never alone. With her newfound confidence, Lanney would declare herself a Gwain Warrior and would knockout Jea with her rock glove. Gwain Saga - 008 Lanney would start preparing food in Geo's clocktower for the Gwain Warriors trip to the beach. Ami would walk in and Lanney would greet her while also telling her everything was ready. Lanney would then inform Ami that Geo had set off to fetch a few things and that Marlow was still playing the game she had lent her. As Geo walked into the clocktower, Lanney would ask him about his Wind Suit, which she would ask to try out. The Gwain Warriors would make their way towards the Magic Market Street and they would set off to buy stuff. Lanney would ask Ami if they can buy stuff together, as it had been a long time since they have done so, which she annoyingly agrees to. Lanney would then tell Agni that he shouldn't be buying beer as they are on the street but Agni would remind her of how she got drunk at Deva's birthday party. Lanney would ask if they could forgot that ever happen. While buying swimsuits, Deva would spot lanney buying a Level?? Maid Swimsuit, which would make Deva jealous, causing her to angrily rush towards Lanney. With their new swimsuits the Gwain Warriors would head towards the South Cost of Gwain. At the South Cost of Gwain Lanney would begin to take prepared food out while Geo and Ami had an arm-wrestling match. At the end of the day she would grill meat for her friend and would serve Ami hot chocolate upon her and Geo's return.

Lanney unknowing had this book within her hat while she was trying to save her friends from Tahjin, which she would find out after her battle with him.

• Rock Element: Lanney uses the element of rock, which she initially disliked but eventually learned to accept her abilities. When using the element she is able to force cracks into the ground, force rocks to jut out of the ground, allowing her to create a wave of rock attacks, and can turn both parts of herself and her entire body into rock, were as a rock she can explode and reform, though this will cause her to become dizzy afterward. Lanney's rocks are extremally durable, being able to no-sell attacks from Tahjin and can be used to propel Lanney upwards into the air.

Standard Tactics: Lanney will use her rock element to attack her foes in both hand-to-hand combat and at a distance.

Weaknesses: Lanney used to dislike her element, which caused her to hide it from her friends out of fear, though she has gotten over this. If Lanney uses her rock element to explode and reform, it will cause her to become dizzy and unable to fight for a while.

Note: Characters such as Lanney, Ami, Deva, Agni, Savien, Tahjin, and Jea are not scaled to Geo. While there have been few times where these characters have tanked hits from characters who can harm Geo, these have been deemed as Outliers as it has been consistently shown that these characters are far weaker than Geo. Such examples include Ami being knocked out from something Geo completely tanked, a train crash that Geo was able to survive being a massive threat to Ami, and Ami consistently needing Geo to protect her from threats. Agni got one shot by Marlow, who noted that she couldn't take much of Geo's attacks, along with being unable to harm a robot that Geo and Marlow could harm. The Elite Captain, a captain of an elite security troop, who is six times weaker than Geo in base and needing to amplify himself to harm him without magic, should be superior to characters like Savien, who noted how its weird that he, Deva, and Agni were invited as security guards when they were not professionals. Deva's ice is also unable to harm said robot. Kaditopez, someone who's implied to be stronger than most Teorans, is unable to harm Geo. Savien noted he couldn't harm Geo that much and couldn't take much hits from a casual Geo. Tahjin got one shot by Geo, with Geo cracking his head in the process, despite having a broken arm.
