~ Sans introducing himself to the human |
Background
Sans is the brother of Papyrus and a major character in Undertale. He first appears in the forest after the protagonist exits the Ruins. He serves as a supporting character in the Neutral and True Pacifist routes and as the final boss and heroic antagonist in a Genocide Route.
This dropdown contains the synopsis of Sans’ story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise! |
---|
General Information
Name: Sans the Skeleton
Origin: Undertale, Deltarune
Sex: Male
Age: Unknown, older then Papyrus
Classification: Skeleton
Species: Monster
State of Being: Regular
Occupation: Sentry Station Watcher
Affiliations: Underground
Enemies: Humans (Formerly in True Pacifist Route)
Status: Alive in the True Pacifist Route and Neutral Routes, Deceased in the Genocide Route (Sans is eventually killed by The Human after their long-winded fight)
Alignment: True Neutral (Sans ultimately believes all things are pointless, with him quitting, all of his actions during the game are due to a promise he made with it being his last spark of hope, with him not interfering even if The Human kills his brother, and only ultimately interfering in the genocide route after he believes he needs to stop what will come next)
Codex Statistics
Grade: A
Tier: At least 10-A, possibly Higher
Cardinality: Finite
Dimensionality: 3-D
Attack Potency: At least Peak Human level, possibly Higher (Could fight and harm The Human, stated even in a pacifist route to be capable of killing the human. the human can harm enemies capable of harming them, where they are comparable to Chara, who survived a fall from the top of the mountain)
Durability: At least Peak Human level, possibly Higher
Striking Strength: At least Peak Human Class, possibly Higher
Lifting Strength: Above Average Human (Could easily break a branch that was regarded as tough-looking and too heavy for the human to pick up)
Travel Speed: Superhuman (Pedaled his tricycle so fast that he could keep up with Papyrus car), though ignores conventional traveling instead using Teleportation
Attack Speed: At least Transonic, likely Higher (Can tag The Human)
Reaction Speed: At least Transonic (Is shown to be one of the fastest characters of the Undertale cast as they can repeatedly dodge any attacks that the human throws at them, including attacks from the empty gun, an antique revolver, which have a muzzle velocity of up to 1,150 ft/s), likely Higher (He could effortlessly dodge the same thing while asleep, he was only caught off-guard due to battle mechanics in Undertale not usually warranting a second hit on the same turn)
Stamina: Above Average (Despite being shown as lazy, Sans was able to keep up with the human for a while, battling them until the very end, going full on out and spammed his most powerful attacks until he passed out to give the human a bad time that no other monster in the genocide route had done)
Range: Standard Melee physically, Tens of Meters with Magic, Higher with Gaster Blasters, Kilometers with Teleportation (Has shown to be able to teleport throughout the underground and get to areas that are far ahead of where he originally was when talking to the human)
Intelligence: Supergenius (Is aware of the fact that the timeline has been reset repeatedly and that The Anomaly and the human are the cause of it. So aware of it to the point that he can tell from the look on one's face what they have done in a completely different timeline or an event that transpired in a different timeline)
Powers and Techniques
Resistance to Physical Attacks (All monsters bodies are attuned to their SOUL thus only attacks that can affect their SOUL can affect them[4]), Soul Manipulation & Essence Manipulation (Can take hits to the SOUL)
Notable Techniques
-
Sans's Blue Mode in effect
-
Sans attacking with a curtain fire of bones
-
Sans's KARMA rapidly draining the human's HP
-
Sans using his Gaster Blasters
-
Sans teleporting the human mid attack
-
Sans "sparing" the human
- Blue Mode: Sans turns his opponent's soul blue, giving it gravity and allowing him to more easily hit his foes. However, Sans appears to have a far greater mastery of this ability than Papyrus, allowing him to effortlessly fling his foe around by manipulating their soul, or effectively 'changing gravity' and forcing them to move along the walls or ceiling. He also does not need to hit them with a blue attack first to turn them blue.
- Bone Attacks: Sans will send a massive amount of bones at his opponent. He will mix up his style, forcing his foes to jump through small gaps between bones, over pits full of dozens of bones, or even to rush the movement of the platforms so that they don't fall into a deadly trap composed of dozens upon dozens of bones. Sans will often throw in blue bones, which while they cannot be dodged, will only hurt his opponent if they attempt to move through them as opposed to allowing it to pass harmlessly through. While these attacks hardly seem to so any damage initially, the damage quickly racks up from remaining in contact with them, allowing this relatively weak opponent a way of bypassing the defenses of superior foes.
- KARMA: When struck by one of Sans' attacks one will suffer from this condition, for a brief period. It essentially functions as poison damage for one's SOUL.
- Gasterblasters: Strange devices in the shape of skulls which fire powerful lasers from their maws. Like Sans' bones, Gasterblasters will often be used in numbers and will deal KR damage.
- Teleportation: Sans can teleport not only himself but objects and other people, as well. During a battle, Sans will often teleport his opponent, himself, and his attacks, not only moving out of harm's way but moving his foe into the path of a new attack. He has also shown the ability to restrain an enemy by repeatedly warping them back to their initial position.
Other
Standard Tactics: Sans is normalyl very lazy and will typically not get into a fight, though when he does he will immediately open up with going into his personal domain and using one of his strongest attacks in the game and proceed to use various teleportation and rule-breaking techniques during his fight.
Weaknesses: Sans is very lazy, usually making it harder for him to give it his all. All monsters are weak to an attack with killing intent behind it and if a monster doesn't want to fight, they are weakened greatly[5]. Sans has naturally lower health and stats than the rest of the cast.
