Why do people have to work?! Why do you have to pay money to eat?! Can't we all just share?! Where is freedom in the world?! All are slaves in labor!! The rich grow fat... ...While the poor die!! Is work fun?! No! Of course not! We refuse to work! I, Hammerhead, will make a change! Let those who want to work support everyone else! We're going to create a utopia! The group I lead is the Paradisers!
~ Hammerhead's ideology

Background

Hammerhead is a B-Class criminal[1] and the former leader of the Paradisers, a now-defunct terrorist group that espoused the belief that work should be voluntary.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Hammerhead’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Paradise Group Arc
After several futile appeals for a revolution towards passerbys in F-City, Hammerhead leads his Paradisers, outfitted in stolen high-tech battle suits, on a mission to demolish the mansion of Zeniru, which he views as a symbol of social inequality. After they destroy the wrong building, they easily defeat the riot police and Mumen Rider, but are intercepted by Zeniru's bodyguard, Speed-o'-Sound Sonic, in the woods around Zeniru's mansion.

Hammerhead rejects Sonic's call for surrender and attacks him, only to see his entire Paradise Group massacred, and narrowly avoids death himself. Despite leveraging his suit's immense strength against Sonic and using clever strategy, he is stabbed in the back of his head with a kunai and presumed dead.

Thanks to his thick skull, he survives and flees the scene, only to encounter Saitama, incensed at being typecast as a member of the Paradise Group. After receiving a blow to the face from Hammerhead's suit, Saitama expresses disappointment at its pitiful strength, prompting Hammerhead to trigger the battle suit's full power. Saitama remains unimpressed, but feels a trace of empathy for Hammerhead, and merely destroys his suit rather than kill him.

Hammerhead is left naked and allowed to escape, but is found, beaten, and left for dead by robotic assassins from a mysterious group known as The Organization, surviving again due to his thick cranium. Lying in his own blood, he cries streams of tears, thanking his mother for giving him his thick skull. He then vows to give up his cause and look for a job.

Rumored Monster Arc
During an investigative briefing at the Hero Association HQ, A-Class Superhero Sneck reports sightings of Hammerhead outside of a job center in F-City, wearing a formal suit and nervously preparing for a business interview.

Alien Conquerors Arc
Hammerhead fills an employment application form while he watches the news of the destruction of A-City.

Powers and Techniques

All beings in One-Punch Man have a Limiter which through trying to break it[29], starts granting them the following abilities:

Indomitable Will (One that breaks their limiter need to have extreme will to continue[30]), Pain Tolerance (As they constantly need to put constant pressure on both their body and mind[31]), Accelerated Development (Passive, Physical Stats & Abilities; Limiter Removal, allows for endless growth as there is no intrinsic limit placed on people[32]), Adaptation (Garou has shown to increase himself to blitzing and overpowering Darkshine, who previously managed to break his entire ribcage, by breaking his limiter[33]), Supernatural Resilience (Characters like Garou were able to survive being ripped apart and a hole in his chest[34]), Resurrection (To experience explosive growth, one must be on the brink of death and die than resurrect[35]).

Resistance to BFR (Forced Teleportation; Child Emperor due to his strong will, can break out of Pheonix Space[36]), Mind Manipulation & Absorption (Psykos resisted Orochi absorbing them into them and taking over their mind through sheer will[37]), Telekinesis (Garou with his sheer will couldn't have his movements negated by Gyro Gyro[38]), Sleep Manipulation (Through sheer will and getting pumped up Metal Bat can resist the tranquilizing odor that made him nearly lose consciousness[39]), Empathic Manipulation (Fubuki is able to resist Monster Princess' whip due to having a strong will where her whip can turn one into a slave[40]), Power Nullification (Limits are meant to be intrinsic limits placed on people[41])

Equipment

  • Battle Suit: A battle suit he stole from an organiation and used to form The paradisers, a group opposed to jobs and wanting to destroy the rich. His battle suit was destroyed after encountering Saitama. The battle suits main gimmick was amplfying a users strength, allowing for incredible feats, such as toppling a skyscraper with a single punch.

Notable Techniques

  • Thick Skull: Hammerhead possesses a skull that is many times more thick then a regular skull. This allows him to withstand a kunai piercing his head and being hit by someone that would have normally killed him. He uses this in conjunction with pretending to be dead to escape from his aggressor.
  • Spin Attack: Hammerhead spins both of his arms in an incredibly fast motion.

Other

Standard Tactics: Hammerhead will hit the opponent with various strong attacks, against speed users, he will attempt to trap them into a scenario where their speed will not help them[42].

Weaknesses: Nothing notable.

Trivia

  • Hammerhead shares some similarity to the Marvel Comics villain Hammerhead, who like him is the leader of a criminal gang known for having a superhumanly sturdy head.
  • In the 2017 One-Punch Man Halloween cover, Hammerhead was depicted as the spirit of legendary Japanese warrior monk Benkei, famous for dying on his feet after being struck by multiple arrows. In Hammerhead's case, he still has Sonic's kunai stuck on the back of his head. Hammerhead is ironically the complete opposite of Benkei, as he fell dead against Sonic but survived.
