It's Groovy!
~ Hole Punch upon DJ Toad playing Thrills at Night
Paper Mario: The Origami King - The Disco Devil

Background

Hole Punch, The Disco Devil is a member of the Legion of Stationery who guards the end of the yellow streamer and serves as the boss of the Temple of Shrooms in Paper Mario: The Origami King. He is an oversized, yellow hole puncher featuring King Olly's logo on his black lid.

As Mario ventured through the temple he found many faceless toads until he made his way into a disco room with a large disco ball, DJ Toad, and an origami Goomba, Shy Guy, and Boo out on the dance floor. Hole Punch behind a large set of doors called out and stopped the music and demanding a better piece to groove to and threatened to punch out DJ Toad's face, as he did with all the other Toads in the temple. DJ Toad begs for a second chance and asks Mario to find disks to play better music.

When Mario played Thrills at Night, Hole Punch became satisfied and requested an audience to join on the dance floor. DJ Toad then gave Professor Toad a boom box, allowing him and Mario to explore the temple and pick up the faceless Toads within it.

Once all of the Toads were found and returned to the disco room, they hit the dance floor, and finally got the attention of Hole Punch, who burst out of his room and slammed the dance floor, frightening all the Toads away. He challenges Mario to a literal face-off on the dance floor. Upon Hole Punch's defeat, he counted down from three and exploded, launching the faces he hole punched from the Toads, returning everyone back to normal. Mario then used Magic Circle that appeared to destroy the yellow streamer. Doing so dropped the disco ball which contained the sun, which was now able to return to the sky and bring light to the world again.

Is this big compared to Mario), Acrobatics (Is able to jump and flip around while dancing despite it's body), Power Nullification (Can negate the panels on a ringed battlefield by hole punching through them), Vibration Manipulation (Can shift all the rings on the ringed battlefield by creating a shockwave by spinning), Durability Negation and Statistics Reduction (Hole Punch is able to Hole Punch strait through peoples bodies, which ignores durability multiple times. Each hole reduces their total HP by about 50% each time. It also reduces Mario's attack power by 50%, as HP affects his strength), Dimensional Storage and Sealing (Can store the hole punched pieces of people within itself and shoot them at will, It was even able to hole punch the sun itself, and then stored it within a Disco Ball), Air Manipulation (With Throwing Puncher), Burrowing (Can hole punch holes into the ground), Aura (When preparing it's ultimate attack), BFR and Law Manipulation (Folded soldiers in the Origami King are able to send their opponents to a ringed battlefield regardless of where they are and forces their opponents to align the rings to fight. Loss of paint can also remove your mind and memories), Spatial Manipulation (Paint makes up all of space. Removing it makes space as if it was solid), Soul Manipulation ( Paint makes up souls and ghosts. Removing it is the equivalent of destroying your soul), Empathic Manipulation (Paint makes up all emotions. Removing it would mean the removal of emotion), Power Nullification (Paint makes up the ability to use powers. Removing it would mean the removal of using powers).

  1. "If you're familiar with things like Popeye and some of the old comic characters, you would oftentimes see this cast of characters that takes on different roles depending on the comic or cartoon," Miyamoto said. "They might be businessman in one [cartoon] or a pirate in another. Depending on the story that was being told, they would change roles. So, to a certain degree, I look at our characters in a similar way and feel that they can take on different roles in different games."
