Background

The Barrier Trio is boss from Mother 3. It guards the fifth needle on Tanetane Island, created and set their by Mixolydia. When "the time" came, Lucas and co. climb up the mountain and fight them in order to pull the needle. After the Trio is defeated, the Masked Man invades, incapacitates Lucas's party and pulls the needle himself.

Tier: 8-B

Name: Barrier Trio, individual names are Barrier Man, Barrier Dude, and Barrier Gal

Age: Unknown, likely thousands of years old (Was created by Mixolydia to guard her needle, which is seemingly tied to her life and pulling it would cause her to vanish)

Sex: Varies (Barrier Man and Barrier Dude are male, Barrier Gal is female)

Origin: Mother 3

Classification: Monsters, Strange Creatures, Golems that protect the fifth needle

Attack Potency: City Block level (Fought against Lucas, Kumatora, Duster, and Boney. As guardians of an important location in the series (Sanctuaries and Needles), they should be comparable to Thunder and Storm, who generated a storm this powerful)

Dimensionality: 3-D

Travel Speed: Subsonic (Can tag the main cast)

Combat Speed: FTL (Fought against the main cast, who can dodge laser beams from the K9000 and also fight Porky Minch, who fought against Ness, Paula, Jeff Andonuts, and Poo at their peaks)

Reaction Speed: FTL

Lifting Strength: At least Class 5 (Due to their immense size and weight, they should be superior to the main cast)

Striking Strength: City Block level

Durability: City Block level (Can tank attacks from the main cast)

Stamina: Limitless physically (Due to being inorganic and guarding the fifth needle for a long period of time), Superhuman level+ mentally (Will get exhausted and has limited PSI)

Range: Extended Melee, up to Hundreds of Meters with PSI (Comparable to other PSI users), possibly higher (Can use PK Starstorm, which is implied to summon meteors)

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Forcefield Creation (Has shown to have a sheild when the battle starts), Large Size (Type 0), Inorganic Physiology (Type 1), Immortality (Type 1), Self-Sustenance (Types 1, 2, and 3), Elemental Manipulation (Proficient in all elemental attacks), Ice Manipulation (Via PK Freez), Fire Manipulation (Via PK Fire), Statistics Amplification (Via Defense Up), Electricity Manipulation (Via PK Thunder), Curtain Fire (Via PK Starstorm), Selective Resistance to Fire Manipulation, Electricity Manipulation, and Ice Manipulation (Resistance varies based on the pose. If Barrier Man calls it out, the trio is resistant to ice and electricity. If Barrier Gal calls it out, the trio is resistant to fire and electricity. When Barrier Dude calls it out, the trio is resistant to fire and ice), along with immunity to all Status Ailments (Sleep, crying and jealousness, burning, feeling strange, fleas (preventing special moves), forgetful, nausea and feverish, numb, and poison)

Intelligence: Genius (Knows PSI, as well as PK Starstorm)

Standard Tactics: The Barrier Trio automatically has a sheild. They begin by calling a pose, which selects resistances to two elemental attacks. They will use elemental attacks, which includes PK Fire, PK Thunder, and PK Freeze, all of which are either β or γ. If their defense is low, they will use PSI Defense Up. When weak, the Barrier Trio will concentrate and then attack with PK Starstorm. If this fails, they will attempt to do it again, fail, but then do one last fabulous pose before they accept their fate.

Weaknesses: Will have to concentrate to use PK Starstorm, and can only use it once before losing the strength in order to do it again. Changing poses will change the weakness.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • PK Freeze β: Deals around 130 damage to one party member
  • PK Freeze γ: Deals around 180 damage to one party member
  • PK Fire β: Deals around 90 damage to all party members
  • PK Fire γ:Deals around 160 damage to all party members
  • PK Thunder β: Two thunderbolts, each dealing 120-130 points of damage to a party member. Can miss.
  • PK Thunder γ: Three thunderbolts, each dealing 170-230 points of damage to a party member. Can miss.
  • PK Defense Up Ω: Raises the Barrier Trio's defense
  • Concentrate: No effect, but warns the player of PK Starstorm next turn
  • PK Starstorm: Deals around 240 damage to all party members
  • Pose (Barrier Man's Call): Changes weakness to fire
  • Pose (Barrier Gal's Call): Changes weakness to ice
  • Pose (Barrier Dude's Call): Changes weakness to electricity
