Huuuh? Shouldn't you be running? Gurgle-blorgle! Glurgle! Are you a new salaryman bored with company life? I transformed into Crablante after eating too much crab. I'm surprised you don't flee. Gurgleblorgle! I guess you wanna die. Well, do you? Glurgle-blorgle! Like mine, your eyes are lifeless. Out of sympathy, I'll let you go. Besides, I'm hunting other prey right now. Some brat with a cleft chin. I'm gonna rip him limb from limb. Gurrrglebablorple!
~ Crablante to Pre-Training Saitama

Background

Crablante was a Tiger-level Mysterious Being. He was originally a human but transformed into a monster after eating too much crab. He was killed by Saitama and the monster that drove him to train and become a hero.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Crablante’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Saitama Introduction Arc
Crablante meets Saitama three years before the main storyline in the middle of a street. Crablante's appearance causes everyone apart from Saitama to flee in terror. When Crablante asks why Saitama is not also running away, Saitama causually replies that since he is unemployed and unable to get a job, he feels that nothing matters anymore and that he does not feel as it even matters if he runs away. Crablante chuckles at this and says that, since he is after a different target and since Saitama's lifeless eyes remind him of his own, he is willing to spare Saitama.

Crablante later appears in a park and discovers a ball-chinned kid, his target. As Crablante is about to finish the boy off, Saitama rushes in and saves the boy. It is revealed that Crablante wants revenge on the kid for defacing his body while he was sleeping in the park by drawing nipples on his chest in permanent ink. Crablante demands that Saitama either surrenders the boy or dies himself. Hearing this, Saitama bursts into a fit of laughter and quips that Crablante reminds him of a villain from an old anime that he used to watch in his childhood (possibly Crab Demon from "Justice Man"). Saitama reveals that his childhood dream was to become a superhero who could defeat villains like Crablante in a single punch. After a brief but intense fight, Saitama defeats Crablante by pulling out an eyestalk along with his internal organs, disemboweling the monster.

Disaster Level
Crablante appears as the example for a tiger level threat, taking 5 B Class Heroes and 1 A Class Hero to defeat him.

One-Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows
Crablante is one of the playable fighters in this game. Story wise he goes through the same events.

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics (Noted to possess super strength, with the power overflowing from his massive body being truly inhuman and a single swing of his scissors making average citizens fall through the air like leaves from a tree[21]), Enhanced Senses (Crablante's "cancer eyes" make it where he cannot be caught by a flank attack as he has a wide field of vision[22]), Natural Weaponry (Has a pair of hard and sharp scissors as hands being compared to blunt rock weapons when swung around[23]), Bloodlust (Crablante's inferiority complex and frustration with society that he felt when he was a civilian urges his violent acts and makes him have no hesitation to kill people[24])

All beings in One-Punch Man have a Limiter which through trying to break it[25], starts granting them the following abilities:

Indomitable Will (One that breaks their limiter need to have extreme will to continue[26]), Pain Tolerance (As they constantly need to put constant pressure on both their body and mind[27]), Accelerated Development (Passive, Physical Stats & Abilities; Limiter Removal, allows for endless growth as there is no intrinsic limit placed on people[28]), Adaptation (Garou has shown to increase himself to blitzing and overpowering Darkshine, who previously managed to break his entire ribcage, by breaking his limiter[29]), Supernatural Resilience (Characters like Garou were able to survive being ripped apart and a hole in his chest[30]), Resurrection (To experience explosive growth, one must be on the brink of death and die than resurrect[31]).

Resistance to BFR (Forced Teleportation; Child Emperor due to his strong will, can break out of Pheonix Space[32]), Mind Manipulation & Absorption (Psykos resisted Orochi absorbing them into them and taking over their mind through sheer will[33]), Telekinesis (Garou with his sheer will couldn't have his movements negated by Gyro Gyro[34]), Sleep Manipulation (Through sheer will and getting pumped up Metal Bat can resist the tranquilizing odor that made him nearly lose consciousness[35]), Empathic Manipulation (Fubuki is able to resist Monster Princess' whip due to having a strong will where her whip can turn one into a slave[36]), Power Nullification (Limits are meant to be intrinsic limits placed on people[37])

Equipment

  • Scissors: Serves as him arms. A pair of hard and sharp scissors. They are like a blunt rock weapon when swung around, and turn into a weapon of hell when clamped down.

Notable Techniques

  • Cancer Eyes: He cannot be caught by a flank attack because of his wide field of vision, but the supporting part that connects to the head is thin, making it a weak point.
  • Scissor Punch: A strike with Carblante's greatest weapon, his scissors. It boasts enough destructive power to lightly shatter asphalt when swung down to the ground.

Other

Standard Tactics: Shown in his fight with Saitama that he will repeatedly punch his opponent, leaving his weak spot open[38].

Weaknesses: His cancer eyes have a supporting part that connects to the head which is thin and makes it a weak point[39] allowing for someone weaker then him to pull it out and kill him[40].

Trivia

  • ONE: "I am often asked why use the suffix lante. Actually when I was in the lower grades in elementary school, there was this movie called Godzilla vs. Biollante, and the giant plant monster in it was called Biollante. Biollante was my favorite monster out of the whole series, so I often subconsciously add lante to the end of monster names (laugh)."
  • Crablante is the first Mysterious Being to have been defeated and killed by Saitama. With his death being apart of the entire reason the Hero Association started as Saitama killing him[41] saved Tycoon Agoni's grandchild making him want to make an association to fight against monsters[42].
  • Crablante is the first Tiger-level threat to appear in the series.
  • Despite his brief appearance, he is one of the most influential characters in the series, as his attempts at murdering a child is what inspired Saitama to begin his long training to become a strong hero. Crablante also gave Agoni the idea to create the Hero Association after the former tried to kill the latter's grandson.
  • In the 2017 One-Punch Man Halloween cover, Crablante was depicted cosplaying a monsterified version of Red Riding Hood along with the simpler cosplay of Red Muffler. Crablante's basket is full of crabs, while Red Muffler's contains a bottle.
