Background

Terra Branford is one of the main characters of Final Fantasy VI. Although the game is noted to not have one true main protagonist, Terra is generally seen as the face of the game and has appeared as such in several pieces of media to follow. Terra is the hybrid between a human and an Esper; a magical humanoid race that split off from humans, thousands of years ago. As such, she wields innate magical abilities.

At the beginning of the game, Terra is seen serving under the Gestahlian Empire against her will, as she had been put under the mind control of Kefka Palazzo's specially-made Slave Crown. Fortunately, Terra is able to break free from the Slave Crown, though it leaves her mentally shaken and with amnesia.

Ever since escaping from her imprisonment, Terra made it her life's mission to learn the truth of herself and defeat those who had tried using her powers for evil. This leads her to the grand revelation of her heritage, as a half-Esper, and unlocks within her the ability to assuming a mystical Esper transformation.

    • Magicite Shard: Summons a random Esper to assist in battle.
    • Super Ball: Bounces around the battlefield when thrown. Deals damage to all enemies.
    • Smoke Bomb: Releases a cloud of thick smoke when thrown. Allows for Terra to escape from battle.
    • Teleport Stone: Enchanted with the Teleport spell. Teleports Terra out of a dungeon or battle.
    • Sleeping Bag: Fully restores one person's HP and MP. Can be used outdoors.
    • Tent: Fully restores the entire party's HP and MP. Can be used outdoors.

    Intelligence: Gifted (Although amnesiac for most of the game, Terra is still extremely intelligent. Even when mentally at her worst, Terra is capable of prodigious levels of combat, and can use her innate magical abilities with great proficiency. She is able to fight several extremely experienced opponents, notably Kefka Palazzo, who had been infused with the abilities of three eld gods)

    Weaknesses: Terra can be quite naïve at times, and fearful of things due to her mental damage and amnesia. Because of her passive nature, she dislikes fighting greatly and will try to avoid it when she can. Her magical abilities are dependent on her reserve of Mana, which can run out and needs to be replenished. Her Esper form, too, is temporary.

    • Trance: Allows for Terra to assume her Esper form. This will double her attack power and halve damage taken.
    • Cure: Heals minor amount of HP.
      • Cura: Heals moderate amount of HP.
      • Curaga: Heals major amount of HP.
    • Raise: Revives knocked out party member with small amount of HP.
      • Arise: Revives knocked out party member with all of their HP.
      • Reraise: If target is knocked out, revives him/her with small amount of HP.
    • Poisona: Removes Poison and Sap status ailment from one ally.
    • Fire: Weak fire-elemental attack.
      • Fira: Moderate fire-elemental attack.
      • Firaga: Powerful fire-elemental attack.
    • Break: Inflicts petrification on the target.
