Bodily excretions of a highly flammable waxy substance interact with the cell structure of this grub-dog's skin, causing a chemical reaction that produces extremely high temperatures. The skin benefits from a spongy cell structure that diffuses the surface heat, protecting the creature's inner organs. Due to the astonishing amount of heat produced by this beast, it should be observed with great caution.
~ Olimar's research notes on the Fiery Bulblax

No stove? No problem! This sizzling beast practically cooks itself. Remember to thoroughly extinguish the steaks prior to eating.
~ Louie's research notes on the Fiery Bulblax

Flames rise from the Firey Bulblax. If you can draw one of the specimens into water, you'll extigush the flames and open it up to attack from any Pikmin type. If not, you'll have to use Red Pikmin or Bulbmin to beat it. Like large Bulborbs, Firey Bulblaxes devour Pikmin. Keep troops away from their mouths.

Background

The Fiery Bulblax is an uncommon enemy found in Pikmin 2. Its body parts appear to be melting away from its body's intense heat waves, and more strangely, one of its eyes is smaller than the other. Its fiery aura is caused by the glands and oils on this creature's body that result in a chemical reaction, which causes a fire to ignite on its hide. Only Red Pikmin can withstand the blaze of this creature's body. However, if lured to water, the flame will go out, allowing Blue Pikmin to attack it. If it enters water it will try to go back to where it was sleeping, and will sometimes ignore any Pikmin attacking it. It is recommended to use a spray against this enemy because it is more aggressive than other members of its family. Due to the Bulblax's curtain-esque shape, pikmin may get stuck under its body when they carry it. If that happens, call them and try dismissing them to pick it back up. As well as sharing the name with it, the Fiery Bulblax's melted features make it resemble the Emperor Bulblax, despite being the same size and having the same attack strategy as the smaller members of the Grub-Dog species.

Codex Statistics

Tier: At least 10-C, likely 10-A, Higher with Penetration Damage and Fire Manipulation

Name: Fiery Bulblax

Origin: Pikmin

Sex: Varies

Age: Unknown

Classification: Oculus vulcanus, Mammoth, Grub-dog species

Status: Active (Is one of the most prominent species on PNF-404, mostly in hotter areas)

Alignment: Unaligned (The wildlife on PNF-404 don't follow moral ethics and simply survive like traditional animals in the wilderness)

Cardinality: Finite

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: At least Below Average Human level+ (Can harm Olimar, and can easily eat Standard Pikmin), likely Athlete level (Can eat Purple Pikmin though they normally die to them rather easily. Superior to the Red Bulborb which can launch a tire rim several meters into the air), Higher with Penetration Damage and Fire Manipulation (Their saber-like teeth are designed for crushing animal exoskeletons and their fire can reduce wood to ash in seconds)

Durability: At least Below Average Human level+, likely Athlete level (Roughly comparable to the Red Bulborb variant, and it takes a solid number of Pikmin to defeat it, with a frontal assault being devastating to them)

Striking Strength: At least Below Average Human Class+, likely Athlete Class, Higher with Penetration Damage and Fire Manipulation

Lifting Strength: At least Below Average Human (Comparable to the Red Bulborb which can kick a tire rim several meters into the air)

Travel Speed: Superhuman+ (Can keep up with Pikmin on foot who can easily outpace pellet shots from the Gatling Groink which can travel at 168 m/s on average)

Combat Speed: Supersonic (Can tag and eat Pikmin along with Olimar himself, and should be comparable to wildlife that use electricity-based attacks)

Reaction Speed: Supersonic (Comparable to the Pikmin themselves and can quickly awaken to fight them while being swarmed)

Stamina: Average

Range: Below Average Melee physically, Higher the larger they grow and with Fire Manipulation

Intelligence: Animalistic (Seems to lack enough understanding to the point where if the enemy runs away or hides and are out of the bulborb's sight, they will go back to sleep despite being attacked. Despite this, their more iconic cousin have shown basic thinking capabilities when faced by an unknown threat)

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Small Size (Type 2 normally; The average Bulborb reaches roughly four-to-five centimeters in height when fully grown. Type 1 when overgrown; Overgrown Bulborbs can see over tall patches of grass), Natural Weaponry and Penetration Damage (Type 1; Has saber-like teeth which are used for cracking the exoskeletons of prey), Fire Manipulation (The Fiery Bulblax produces a highly flammable waxy substance that interacts with the cell structure of its skin, causing a chemical reaction that produces high temperatures[1]. This allows them to create fire in their wake), Enhanced Senses (Bulborbs are nocturnal predators which hunt primarily at night. Even while asleep, they're capable of sensing light taps on their backside), Camouflage (Their spotty-backs allow them to appear as cave mushrooms when they are hunting or hibernating in dark caverns), Consumption (The Bulborb species can eat several pikmin and eat inedible items), Regeneration (Low. Can heal overtime from swarm attacks).
Resistance to Extreme Heats and Extreme Colds (Has adapted in all of the underground dungeons and earth's biomes like the Distant Tundra and Tropical Wilds), Time Stop and Magnetism Manipulation (All wildlife on PNF-404 are immune to the magnetic field which stops time in the underground dungeons), Sound Manipulation, Mind Manipulation, and Empathic Manipulation (The Antenna Beetle's whistle-like call technique, similar to the captain's whistle, has no effect on the Bulborb species. Olimar's whistle only temporarily stuns a bulborb), and Fire Manipulation (The Fiery Bulblax's skin benefits from a spongy cell structure that diffuses the surface heat, protecting the creature's inner organs and outer layer of skin[2])

Other

Standard Tactics: The Fiery Bulblax is a nocturnal creature so it will be asleep during the day, though if awoken it will charge towards the enemy and attempt to eat them whilst also igniting the area on fire.

Weaknesses: The Fiery Bulblax is a naturally nocturnal creature so it will be asleep during day time, making it very easy to sneak attack. Hitting it's eyes will cause it to shake in pain. If it gets near water, the flames on its back will be extinguished.
