Sometimes I wonder what it's all good for. I mean, Olimar is a nice enough fellow and all, but he just loves being in charge. I take this in my stride since our mission on the planet of the Pikmin is introducing me to so many wondrous creatures, from the super scary to the downright yummy! There is no way that Olimar could handle the job by himself and I reckon we actually make a pretty good team. Let's face it, there's no such thing as a proper partnership, I've done a bit of research into them lately, so I should know

It's back!

~ Louie calling for help

Background

Louie is a secondary protagonist in the Pikmin series, serving as Olimar's partner and co-worker. He first appears in Pikmin 2 – the only game in which he is a playable character in Story Mode. In Pikmin 3, he stays at the Koppaites' ship after being saved, twice, and appears as Olimar's partner in Bingo Battle, as well as a playable character in some missions. In Pikmin 3 Deluxe, he once again accompanies Olimar as a second leader in the new Side Stories mode.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Captain Olimar’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Early Life
As a child, he was quite skinny, and his grandmother always had him eat everything on his plate. When he lived with his grandmother, he used to be forced to play on a hill behind their house, where she would make him eat plants and bugs, the latter of which kept nibbling on him.

Pikmin 2
While Olimar was rebuilding his ship on PNF-404, Louie's first mission for Hocotate Freight was to transport a shipment of valuable golden pikpik carrots. In it, he was supposedly attacked by a ravenous space bunny, and the carrots were lost. The President of Hocotate Freight took out a giant loan to cover the losses of the carrots and had no way to repay the debt other than sell off company assets. On Olimar's return to Hocotate, the President learns of the existence of treasure on PNF-404, and orders both Olimar and Louie to retrieve objects that can be sold for profit, in order to save the company. A few days after the departure, it is confirmed by a letter from the President that Louie has been working at Hocotate Freight for three months by that point.

Warning: the following text contains major spoilers about an unlockable cutscene.
Louie's Dark Secret

Louie is actually the one responsible for the debt Hocotate Freight suffers. It was truly he who ate the load of golden Pikpik carrots. When he returned from his first mission, he falsified his report to the President, explaining that a "ravenous space bunny" ate all of the carrots. This is revealed in a cutscene, called "Louie's Dark Secret", unlocked by getting a pink flower for all 30 of the Challenge Mode levels, which is achieved by completing the stages without losing any Pikmin.

Paying Hocotate Freight's debt off
As Olimar and Louie head to the Valley of Repose at the start of Pikmin 2, Louie falls out of the cockpit, leaving Olimar alone. After making contact with the ship, Louie sets off to return to Olimar at the landing area. On the way, he discovers a Red Onion and cultivates some Pikmin sprouts, just as Olimar had done when he was stranded in the first game. The player can control Olimar or Louie, and using the latter, make him reach Olimar through the use of the loyal Red Pikmin. The two then proceed to retrieve the Courage Reactor, the first treasure of the game, effectively starting the adventure.

The debt is eventually payed off throughout the game, treasures being found in the Awakening Wood and the Perplexing Pool, as well as the Valley of Repose. After collecting ×10,000 worth of treasure, Olimar blasts off from the planet, noticing too late that Louie is left behind.

The Titan Dweevil
Louie, as seen before the fight with the Titan Dweevil. Olimar and the President of Hocotate Freight return to the planet to find Louie and gather more treasure. Louie aimlessly wanders around the planet for a bit, as seen in the credits roll of the game. Olimar and the President later find him in the Wistful Wild, hidden deep in the Dream Den, on top of the Titan Dweevil. They rescue him and send him to the ship's treasure hoard (since the cockpit is already full), calling him the King of Bugs.

It is unknown whether Louie was a captive of the Titan Dweevil, or in actuality controlling it. Some of the pieces of mail the player receives from Louie's grandmother reflect that he was made to play with bugs by his grandmother as a child, so he has a great deal of experience with them; therefore, it is possible he had the ability to control the Titan Dweevil. This is heavily hinted at by the sales pitch on Louie, here denoted as the King of Bugs, which in itself implies this as well, and the fact that Dweevils naturally mimic the objects they carry. However, if Louie really was in control of the Titan Dweevil, it was still not him or the Titan Dweevil who attacked, but actually the treasures carried by the Titan Dweevil. Of note is that if Louie is rescued, but the weapons are not, the Dweevil will still be fully aggressive on the next trip to the sublevel. In addition, in the Titan Dweevil's Piklopedia entry, it is noted that the creature has a habit of picking up shiny objects – potentially including Louie's helmet or its antenna.

Pikmin 3
In Pikmin 3, Louie makes his first appearance in a transmission received by the Koppaite explorers, who mistakenly assume him to be Olimar and set out to find him. After rescuing him from a swarm of Scornets, the Koppaites take him back to the S.S. Drake, and the ship labels him "Hocotatian". They then discover he has gone into a forced sleep caused by his suit; when he wakes up, he lands the Drake in the Garden of Hope while the crew sleeps, steals their juice supplies and the captain's rubber duck, and flees. In the process of fleeing, he manages to blow up a cinder-brick wall thus giving access to the second section of the Garden of Hope. It is currently unknown how he managed to do this.

Later, the Koppaites find Louie in the remains of the Quaggled Mireclops. They take him back to the ship and tie him up, retrieving the stolen items and interrogating him on the whereabouts of the actual Captain Olimar, once they learn his identity. The S.S. Drake now labels him "Food Thief". After Rescuing Olimar from the Plasm Wraith, they give Olimar and Louie a lift back to Hocotate. However, after taking off, Alph writes in a note that Louie has gone missing again. Still, the Koppaites do not show much interest in trying to rescue him, as Alph simply says that "I'm sure he will be fine..." He is confirmed to have returned to Hocotate with Olimar in Olimar's Comeback, possibly retconning his second disappearance.

In Olimar's secret logs
Louie is featured shortly in each of the expedition logs that the player can unlock by collecting every secret memo. He is usually seen being ambushed by some enemies, like the Peckish Aristocrab or some Scornets. In the last exploration log, he is seen running away before Captain Olimar gets kidnapped by the Plasm Wraith. He even said that he had a bad feeling about landing at the Formidable Oak. He appears to have fled to the Twilight River right after.

There is an unreleased video that was never announced by Nintendo and was kept as a secret. This one, unlike Olimar's logs, seems to take place during the Koppaites' hunt for fruit. In it, he explains how he stole the juice from the leaders and found the Wayward Moon, just before being kidnapped by the Quaggled Mireclops.

General Information

Name: Louie, King of the Bugs by the Hocotate Ship, Food Thief by the S.S Drake

Origin: Pikmin

Sex: Male

Age: Unknown, at least 18 (Is old enough to fly a delivery spaceship)

Classification: Alien, Astronaut, Culinary expert

Combat Speed: At least Supersonic (Should be comparable to wildlife enemies that use electricity-based attacks and can fire Pikmin faster than Gatling Groinks)

Reaction Speed: At least Supersonic (Scales to Olimar who can outpace Mushroom Pikmin who scale to the original Pikmin. Can dodge gunfire from Man-at-Legs with relative ease)

Stamina: Superhuman (Can go days without food and rest and still be able to work. Louie in particular has shown to traverse PNF-404 without tiring much)

Range: Below Average Melee physically (Can only punch a few centimeters far, even with the Rocket Fist increasing his arm length), Standard Melee Range with Pikmin (Can throw Pikmin long distances), Hundreds of Meters with his whistle (As Louie's whistle uses sound commands to callout Pikmin, it should naturally travel around 340 meters, and can be increased further with speaker amplifications), Tens of Kilometers with Cupid's Grenade Items (The Lightning Item can summon cloud-to-ground lightning which has the potential to travel around 10 miles, or 16 kilometers), Multi-Universal with Hocotate Ship sensors and the Purple Pikmin's shockwaves (Both the Hocotate Ship's sensors and the Purple Pikmin can locate and interact with the Waterwraith's true form)

Intelligence: At least Gifted (Despite being seen as a rookie, he managed to survive on PNF-404 on his own, and made his way through the entirety of the Dream Den. Managed to possess the Titan Dweevil and controlled it in combat. He has also shown to pilot the S.S Drake and land without damaging the ship and traverse areas that took the Koppaites days to get through)

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Speed, Genius Intelligence, Small Size (Bug-Sized; Louie is about tall as Olimar who is only 1.9 centimeters, or 0.75 inches, in height), Acrobatics (Is notably agile and can perform backflips), Human Achievements (Is an astronaut [Albeit, a new pilot], and culinary expert who is also highly adapt at surviving in the wilderness, even more than Olimar), Stealth Mastery (Due to their small size, captains like Louie can easily hide in small areas), Mind Control and Possession (Louie was able to hijack and control the mind of the Titan Dweevil), Sound Manipulation, Purification, and Limited Mind Manipulation (With his whistle, Louie can remove status effects inflicted on a Pikmin such as fire, water, electricity, poison, dweevil acids, and puffstool infection. Louie can also temporarily confuse enemies with his whistle and direct various orders onto the Pikmin), Limited Light Manipulation (Louie's radar antenna emits light in dark areas), Limited Animal Manipulation & Summoning (Louie can call nearby Pikmin with his whistle to aid him in various tasks), Self-Sustenance (Respiratory Self-Sustenance) and Aquatic Breathing (Louie's space suit allows him to breath in space and on toxic planets. He can also easily traverse submerged areas whilst wearing his suit), Regeneration (Mid. Can survive and regenerate after being completely flattened), Divine Protection (Upon being incapacitated in battle, Louie will be brought back to his ship regardless of where he is and can be healed into functioning condition by the Hocotate Ship), Immortality (Regenerative Immortality; Through regenerating from being flattened) Information Analysis and Radar Sensing (With the KoPad, Louie can scan lifeforms, revealing their data and weaknesses. Also has a map of his current location with the locations of enemies and items built into the KoPad)

Including the Doodlebug, which is a methane and hydrogen sulfide biohazard compound classified as a Grade XIII biohazard[1]), Fragrance Manipulation (His helmet and space suit protect him from the planet's gases, preventing him from intake of any potential threatening gasses like oxygen), Extreme Heats and Extreme Colds (Can survive in all of the underground dungeons and earth's biomes like the Distant Tundra and Tropical Wilds), Time Stop and Magnetism Manipulation (Is unaffected by the magnetic field which stops time in the underground dungeons), Acid Manipulation, Corrosion Inducement, Matter Manipulation, & Deconstruction (Louie is resistant to Dweevil Acids, which are stomach acids capable of corroding normal spacesuits instantly. Louie can survive within the Quaggled Mireclops' stomach, which can dissolve organisms to their base compounds such as nitrogen), Fungus Manipulation, Transmutation, and Corruption (Scales to Olimar who completely resistant to Puffstool spores, which transform Pikmin into mushroom Pikmin, corrupting them in the process), Sound Manipulation, Empathic Manipulation (The Antenna Beetle's whistle-like call technique, similar to the captain's whistle, has no effect on Louie), Fear Manipulation, Mind Manipulation and Madness Manipulation (Could traverse the Submerged Cavern with the Waterwraith within it, who is capable of making one fearful and insane upon laying eyes on its form), Cosmic Radiations, Gravity Manipulation, and Biological Manipulation (His spacesuit should allow him to survive in the vacuum of space, and his ship is equipped with tools for space travel. It's implied PNF-404 is highly radioactive according to the S.S Dolphin's Geiger Counter)

Statistics Amplification and Damage Reduction (While wearing the Metal Suit Z, the spacesuit's durability is increased and all damage is halved, allowing Louie to take far more damage than prior. The Rush Boots increase Louie's travel speed by nullifying wind resistance. This allows him to keep pace with flowered White Pikmin), Limited Hypnosis (The Five-Man Napsack can hypnotize opponents with a wave of the finger), Enhanced Sound Manipulation (The Mega Tweeter boosts the range of Louie's standard whistle, allowing better control over his Pikmin), Damage Boost & Size Manipulation (The Rocket Fist increases the size of Louie's fist, which significantly boosts the power of his physical attacks), Empathic Manipulation and Power Bestowal (The use of the Pluckaphone inspires Pikmin to pluck themselves, which is something they otherwise can't do), Enhanced Acrobatics & Mind Manipulation (When using the Dodge Whistle, Louie can command his whole fleet of Pikmin to roll in either direction), Enhanced Light Manipulation (The Stellar Orb enhances Louie's current light source, allowing him to see better within the dark), Information Analysis & Radar Sensing (The Treasure Guage allows Louie to track nearby treasure and wildlife within the area).

Resistance to Pain and Limited Physics Manipulation (The Metal Suit Z is so durable and dense that it defies physics, thus nullifying large amounts of pain. The Rush Boots completely nullify wind resistance), Fire Manipulation (The Scorch Guard protects the wearer from fire-based hazards), Electricity Manipulation and Paralysis Inducement (With the Anti-Electrifier, Louie remains immune to any electrical-based attacks), Air Manipulation (The Rush Boots make Louie immune to puffy blowhogs' nasal blast)
Fragrance Manipulation (The Ultra-spicy spray & Ultra-bitter spray are collected, contained, and fired via a sprayable gas), Statistics Amplification, Aura, Rage Power, and Accelerated Development (Passive; Physical Stats, Intelligence, and Productivity. With the Ultra-spicy spray, those sprayed are engulfed in a red aura and receive an increases to their physical statistics, along with becoming more agitated. Furthermore, species like the Pikmin will undergo instant maturity from a lower stage to a flower, thus making them permanently more productive), Petrification, Statistics Reduction, Evolution Manipulation, and Burrowing (With the Ultra-bitter spray, Louie can completely petrify any enemies into solid stone making them weaker to damage [This includes incorporeal enemies such as the Waterwraith]. Pikmin hit by the spray will be reduced to their leaf stage and burrowed into the ground)

Life Manipulation, Plant Manipulation, and Empowerment (The +5 Pikmin, +10 Pikmin, and +5 Rare Pikmin empower the Onion with the energy to sprout five to ten Pikmin on the battlefield), Accelerated Development and Statistics Amplification (The Flower item instantly matures all leaf and/or bud-staged Pikmin into a flower Pikmin), Invisibility and Non-Corporeal (The Ghost item turns the user completely invisible for an extended period of time), Teleportation and limited Telekinesis (Marble Return & Macaroon Recovery teleport/call back key items back to the user's Onion), Summoning and Animal Manipulation (Withering Blowhog, Swooping Snitchbug, Volatile Dweevil, and Firey/Watery Blowhog summons hostile enemies of the same name in the immediate area of an onion), Earth Manipulation (Boulders & Rock Storm items summons large boulders to fall on a captain and their squad of Pikmin), Lightning Manipulation and Paralysis Inducement (The Lightning Item summons bolts of lightning to strike a captain and their Pikmin squad), Power Bestowal (Ultra-Spicy Spray grants Pikmin the Ultra-spicy spray effects when activated), One Hit Kill (Enemy Annihilator will instantly kill any hostile enemies in view/on screen besides opposing captain's Pikmin), Explosion Manipulation (The Bomb Rock & Mine item summons explosive bombs to use in combat [The latter of which functions as a C4]), BFR (Forced Teleportation) and Spatial Manipulation (The Warp item teleports the opposing captain and their squad of Pikmin to a random location on the map)

Pikmin!

Background

Pikmin are a plant-animal life-form first encountered by Captain Olimar when his ship crash-lands on an uncharted planet in Pikmin. The Pikmin are loyal to their leaders, although their criteria for deciding a leader is unclear. They come in a number of different types, each indicating a unique set of attributes that better suit them to different environments and tasks. Most Pikmin are 1.2 cm, from the top of the head to the feet, and have a vaguely humanoid shape, allowing them to walk, run, carry, and fight. Different types can have different shapes or sizes. Atop any Pikmin's head is a stem, topped with a leaf, bud, or flower, depending on their maturity.

Captain Olimar was noted in Pikmin to wonder, a bit uneasily, why the Pikmin don't attack him, and he speculated that they might see him as a "parental figure". However, the Antenna Beetle being able to control Pikmin with its sound might prove that it is in fact the whistle that makes Pikmin non-aggressive. As of Pikmin 3 Deluxe however, it is implied by the various murals located around the globe that they view Olimar as a sort of higher deity who guides them, showing the relationship between Olimar and the Pikmin is one of loyalty.

Biology

Although each Pikmin species have different characteristics, most Pikmin have the same general appearance: a roughly humanoid body shape, two round eyes, two arms and two legs, two hands and two feet – each with three digits – and a tall stem on which a single leaf, bud, or five-petaled flower grows. Their limbs also serve as roots when buried in the ground. In fact, Olimar refers to their entire bodies, save the stems, as ambulatory root structures.

The internal structures of Pikmin are a mystery, but certain things about them can be speculated. Since Pikmin never seem to eat anything, save nectar, they probably have a very simple digestive system, if any. As such, it is likely that Pikmin get a majority of their nutrients from food the Onions break down. Since the Onions are the center of Pikmin reproduction as well, it seems likely that Pikmin are incapable of sexual reproduction. However, in Pikmin, flowering Pikmin will sometimes drop seeds when slain in battle, allowing for new Pikmin to sprout in their place, suggesting that they may be able to reproduce asexually, but also that they do not have defined sexes and are hermaphrodites like many plants. Pikmin also have a skeletal system, as seen when electrocuted. These bones however are incredibly flexible to the point of allowing the Pikmin to act like rubber (Although they can be flattened and killed with enough force).

Pikmin don't appear to have any sort of lungs (However, the Blue Pikmin are observed to have gill structures), but their leaves, buds, and flowers appear to serve as their main means of respiration, since poison gas or water droplets collecting around them suffocates the Pikmin; inversely, walking in shallow water in which their leaf/bud/flower does not touch (as seen in the Shower Room) is fine. When killed, Pikmin disappear and a ghost resembling the original Pikmin flies into the air, sometimes after releasing a liquid of the same color as the Pikmin, possibly the Pikmin equivalent to hemolymph or blood – this is best seen when the Cloaking Burrow-nit attacks.

Pikmin start off as seeds ejected from the Onion, which, after landing on the ground, transform into sprouts. A leader must pluck a sprout so that the Pikmin may come out or alternatively have the Pluckaphone whistle blown at them to "inspire" them. While idle, the Pikmin's leaves and flowers glow that Pikmin's respective color; that, coupled with a cutscene at the end of Pikmin 2, would suggest that Pikmin are somehow bioluminescent, though what causes this and what function(s) it might serve in the wild have never been explained.

Regular Pikmin are able to carry at least ten times their own weight, as evidenced by the ability of Blue Pikmin to lift and toss heavy Purple Pikmin when they are drowning in water and have even been shown to lift entire nuggets of gold roughly the size of the Pikmin. Pikmin are also capable of basic speech and can even be heard saying English phrases like "OK!", "Hi!", and "Yahoo!" after being plucked from the ground. When in a group they will sometimes sing parts of Ai no Uta in Pikmin 2. If left idle for a long time, Pikmin will moan at each other. From what is heard, it can be assumed that Pikmin language is very simple and primitive.

Stages

Pikmin can be divided into three stages. In the first of these, the Pikmin will have a leaf on their stem, which changes to a bud and then a flower as the stage increases. Leaf Pikmin are the slowest and least efficient at performing tasks, but as the stage goes up the movement speed and task efficiency increases. Along with that, Pikmin think more efficiently in both combat and task when in a higher stage as they sprout into their flower state when thinking of more elaborate plans.

In some situations, Pikmin can also instantly mature from leaf to flower if threatened by immediate danger. After this point, they will remain matured for the duration of their lifespan unless reverted back to a prior state in battle.

Pikmin can advance their current stage in several ways. The most common way is by being fed nectar. Alternatively, they may be left underground before being plucked, where they will gradually mature with time, or, in Pikmin 3, they can be sprayed. When knocked to the ground in battle in Pikmin and Pikmin 2, they have a chance of losing their maturity and decreasing in stage. They will never revert their current stage in Pikmin 3.

In Pikmin, if a flower Pikmin is shaken off, it will revert to a bud, and the bud will revert to a leaf in the same scenario. In Pikmin 2, however, flower Pikmin revert to leaf Pikmin immediately. Like flower Pikmin, buds can be received when leaf Pikmin are allowed to stay in the ground for a certain amount of time.

Superhuman Speed, Acrobatics (Pikmin are very agile and should be more fit than the likes of Olimar), Small Size (Bug-Sized; Pikmin are about 2.9 centimeters, or 1.14 inches, from head-to-stem), Stealth Mastery (Due to their small size, Pikmin can easily hide in small areas), Passive Mind Manipulation and Light Manipulation (A Pikmin's stem can compel people to pull it thanks to its light, which then causes the person to become friendly with the Pikmin. The light emitting from their sprout can be seen from large distances away), Combat Proficiency (Pikmin are highly adapt at fighting wildlife far larger than themselves. Red Pikmin in particular are superior fighters to already skilled Pikmin variants), Accelerated Development (Battle & Absorption. Physical Stats, Intelligence, and Productivity. Pikmin naturally mature overtime becoming faster, stronger and smarter when they go from leaf to bud to flower), Adaptation (Pikmin went from having electricity one-shot them to electricity harmlessly stunning them. They also went from all poisons killing them to some being completely unlethal in combat), Life Absorption and Biological Manipulation (Pikmin can absorb nutrients from the soil and even living creatures, allowing them to leech off of and highjack the minds of lifeforms), Resurrection (A Flower Pikmin that falls in battle will leave behind a sprout in their place), Regeneration (Low-Mid physically. Pikmin can regenerate from being impaled in the chest and stomach thanks to their rubber-like physiology. They can also survive and regenerate from being scorched for an extended period of time. Low-Godly through the Onion. After falling in battle, a Pikmin's soul will return to the onion and be reincarnated into a new body), Elasticity & Propagation (Thanks to the Onion, a Pikmin can simply resurrect back and be sprouted onto the field, even if a Pikmin extinction occurs the onion will spit out sprouts to preserve the species), Supernatural Resilience (The physiology of the Pikmin allows their bodies to bend rather easily like rubber and be pierced with no major repercussions), Burrowing (Pikmin can dig up berried items in dirt mounts and dig through walls of dirt rather easily).

  • Bomb Rocks: Bomb rocks are explosive rocks in the Pikmin games. Upon being activated, a rock's fuse starts going down (represented by a colored wheel), and when it reaches zero, the bomb causes a violent explosion, capable of damaging enemies, Pikmin, leaders and some obstacles. In the first and third games, they can be carried by Pikmin, but only by Yellow Pikmin in the former. In Pikmin 2, they are much larger and serve as obstacles instead of tools, with the exception being on the 2-Player Battle stage Hostile Territory, where they can be picked up and thrown by leaders. They can also appear as items in 2-Player Battle and Bingo Battle.

Other

Standard Tactics: Pikmin are incredibly dependant on a leader for instructions in and out of battle. If left on their own, they will typically latch onto the opponent and begin attacking them repeatedly.

Weaknesses: Aside from Bulbmin, every Pikmin either only resists one elemental type or none of them. Purples and Rocks resist no elemental types, and any Pikmin that's not a Blue Pikmin or Winged Pikmin can drown. Though if a Winged Pikmin does get caught off guard they can fall in the water and proceed to drown themselves. However this weakness can be avoided with the help of Blue Pikmin throwing them out of the water

    Icon Name Description
+10 Pikmin Makes the user's Onion generate ten of the player's starting Pikmin.
+5 Rare Pikmin Makes the user's Onion spawn five of the type of Pikmin the player did not start with. This item is not available on maps that only have one type of Pikmin.
Lightning Strikes opponents and their nearby non-Yellow Pikmin with an immobilizing current of lightning. Like all electric hazards in Pikmin 3/Pikmin 3 Deluxe, it simply immobilizes them, and proves no direct harm to the Pikmin.
Lucky Marble Acts the same as if collecting a Lucky Marble.
Rock Storm Causes four large boulders to fall near where the opponent's leader is standing, killing any non-Rock Pikmin. It's harder to dodge these boulders than their Pikmin 2 counterparts. A leader can escape intact if they are always moving throughout the storm. If the player knows that the strike is incoming, they can dismiss their Pikmin to minimize the death toll. These boulders can also harm leaders and Pikmin from the team that spawned them, as well as Pikmin that are shocked on the floor.

Warp Teleports the opponent to a random area on the map, along with any Pikmin in their current squad.
Macaroon Recovery Transports the player's macaroon back to their Onion, even if it is already nearby.

Another evolutionary theory is that the chemical contents of the containers carried by titan dweevils contribute to possible gene splicing. While other dweevils do not seem to choose the objects they carry, the titan dweevil appears to prefer shiny objects above all others.
~ Olimar's research notes on the Titan Dweevil

Eaten raw, this predator's luxurious legs are bold and full flavored. What a satisfying crunch!
~ Louie's research notes on the Titan Dweevil

The leader of the Dream Den, and Louie's captor, is equipped with an arsenal that produces hazards of all varieties. Since the creature is very tall, you'll have to start by targeting its weapons with high-flying Yellow Pikmin. Be ready to rescue them when they're in need, and have your leader sidestep the hazards.

    Background
The Titan Dweevil is the final boss in Pikmin 2. It is the largest member of the dweevil family, and one of the largest creatures in the game. Unlike other dweevils, its only natural attack is to lash out with its pincers, which does no damage and is only an attempt to get Pikmin off it; the creature is only really dangerous because of the weapons it carries.

At the very bottom of the last cave in the game, the Dream Den, Olimar and the President find Louie sitting atop a mound of treasure. When they approach the mound, however, it reveals itself as the head of the Titan Dweevil. The enormous monster then proceeds to attack the Hocotate Freight employees, triggering the boss fight. Louie is found on top of it the first time the Titan Dweevil is battled; the sales pitch on him as a treasure suggests that he may somehow be in control of the dweevil, although if the dungeon is revisited and the boss is fought after rescuing Louie, it will still attack the leaders if the weapons weren't collected last time.

Despite being the final boss of Pikmin 2, defeating the Titan Dweevil does not necessarily lead to the end of the game, unlike the final bosses of Pikmin and Pikmin 3. It can be fought before many other bosses and recovering Louie will not yield any special ending unless the treasures are the last to be collected in the game. However, new e-mails will be received once Louie is found. General Information
    Name: Titan Dweevil

    Origin: Pikmin

    Sex: Varies

Age: Unknown, likely the oldest and most developed species of the dweevil family

    Classification: Giant Armoured Herculean Spider

    Species: Dweevil species

    Occupation: None

Status: Active (Is one of the most prominent species on PNF-404)

Alignment: Unaligned (The wildlife on PNF-404 don't follow moral ethics and simply survive like traditional animals in the wilderness) Codex Statistics
Tier: At least 10-C, Higher with weapons and Penetration Damage

    Cardinality: Finite

    Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: At least Subhuman level (Can harm Olimar and the President, and can easily swat away Standard Pikmin. Can swat away Purple Pikmin, though they are unable to kill them on their own. Should be superior to the Red Bulborb which can launch a tire rim several meters into the air), Higher with weapons and Penetration Damage (The Titan Dweevil's four weapons make it the biggest threat of the Dream Den)

Durability: At least Subhuman level (The Titan Dweevils are one of the toughest lifeforms on PNF-404 and in the Dream Den, taking an entire squad of Pikmin to defeat it). Invulnerability through the dweevil's mimicking physiology makes it difficult to kill.

Striking Strength: At least Subhuman Class, Higher with weapons and Penetration Damage

Lifting Strength: At least Subhuman (Should be vastly superior to the Red Bulborb which can kick a tire rim several meters into the air. The dweevil species is capable of lifting dozens of times its own size with absolute ease)

Travel Speed: Superhuman+ (Can keep up with Pikmin on foot who can easily outpace pellet shots from the Gatling Groink which can travel at 168 m/s on average)

Combat Speed: Supersonic (Can tag and swat away Pikmin along with Olimar himself, and should be comparable to wildlife that use electricity-based attacks)

Reaction Speed: Supersonic (Comparable to the Pikmin themselves and can quickly swat entire groups away whilst being swarmed)

Stamina: Unknown (Their physiology implies they can remain indefinitely active depending on what they mimic)

Range: Below Standard Melee physically, Standard Melee with Flare Cannon and Comedy Bomb (Can attack across the entire dungeon floor centerpiece), Above Standard Melee with Shock Therapy (Can reach outside the centerpiece of the dungeon floor), Kilometers with Monster Pump (Can attack across the entire dungeon floor and automatically detects and channels subterranean waterways from a mile away[3]), Higher depending on what they mimic

Intelligence: Animalistic (Dweevils typically aren't hostile by nature and simply want to mimic whatever it is they can pick up off the ground. Despite this, they have a basic understanding or survival instinct to fight off oncoming predators)

    Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Small Size (Bug-Sized), Mimicry (Physiology Mimicry) and Invulnerability (Physical Invulnerability; The dweevil species has the unique ability to perfectly mimic whatever they pick up, essentially becoming the held item[4][5][6][7]. Once they do this, their physical bodies become completely immune to damage until they lose the mimic'd item), Natural Weaponry and Penetration Damage (Physical Penetration; Its legs are naturally sharp for digging through soil), Burrowing, Camouflage, and Stealth Mastery (The Titan Dweevil can completely submerge its body in the ground to hide itself away from potential predators).

Resistance to Extreme Heats and Extreme Colds (Has adapted in all of the underground dungeons and earth's biomes like the Distant Tundra and Tropical Wilds), Time Stop and Magnetism Manipulation (All wildlife on PNF-404 are immune to the magnetic field which stops time in the underground dungeons), Sound Manipulation, Mind Manipulation, and Empathic Manipulation (The Antenna Beetle's whistle-like call technique, similar to the captain's whistle, has no effect on the Dweevil species. Olimar's whistle only temporarily stuns a dweevil), and Resistance to Petrification (The purple potion only petrifies its body and not its weapons, and can eventually break out of the petrification)

Invulnerability (Physical Invulnerability & Passive; Cannot be damaged externally until all the weapons are off the Titan Dweevil's body), Fire Manipulation and Resistance Negation (Flame Propulsion; With the Flare Cannon, can fire a stream of fire akin to a flamethrower. Even if Olimar has the Scorch Guard, a protective suit capable of resisting temperatures of fire geysers, he will still get damaged by the Flare Cannon), Electricity Manipulation, Paralysis Inducement, Matter Manipulation, and Resistance Negation (Electricity Surge and Bioelectricity; With the Shock Therapist, can fire 'nodes' that conduct and fire electricity all across the floor by gathering negative ions in the atmosphere and converting them into energy[8]. The Shock Therapist's electrical discharges are potent enough to render one Unconscious[9], going as far as to work on and stun Olimar even though he's immune to electricity with the Anti-Electrifier), Water Manipulation (Aquatic Flow and States of Matter Manipulation), Curtain Fire, and Penetration Damage (Physical Penetration; With the Monster Pump, it can fire highly pressured water to rain across the entire area[10]. The Monster Pump is capable of automatically detecting and channeling subterranean waterways from a mile away[11]), Poison Manipulation, Gas Manipulation, and Curtain Fire (Grade XIII Biohazard; With the Comedy Bomb, it can fire off long streams of toxic gas in a swirling pattern potent enough to take your life in a matter of seconds[12], making it at least comparable to the gases produces by the Doodlebug, which is a methane and hydrogen sulfide biohazard compound classified as a Grade XIII biohazard[13]).

Resistance to Petrification (The purple potion only petrifies the Titan Dweevil's body and not its weapons), Fire Manipulation and Resistance Negation (Fire Propulsion; Due to mimicking the Flare Cannon, the Titan Dweevil is naturally resistant to it), Electricity Manipulation, Paralysis Inducement, Matter Manipulation, and Resistance Negation (Electricity Surge and Bioelectricity; to mimicking the Shock Therapist, the Titan Dweevil is naturally resistant to it), Water Manipulation (Aquatic Flow and States of Matter Manipulation) and Penetration Damage (Physical Penetration; Due to mimicking the Monster Pump, the Titan Dweevil is naturally resistant to it), Poison Manipulation and Gas Manipulation (Grade XIII Biohazard; Due to mimicking the Comedy Bomb, the Titan Dweevil is naturally resistant to it)

    Equipment

    • Flare Cannon: When used, it sprays flames in a set radius, as it rotates back and forth in a rough 180-degree motion. When this weapon is damaged, it will spray more of the area than normal. It affects even those that have a resistance to it.
    • Shock Therapist: When used, it will spit out eight electrical "nodes" that will activate after a delay and form multiple arcs of electricity between them that electrocute all that touch them. Even those with a resistance will be paralyzed. When this weapon is damaged, the nodes will activate the moment they are released and may move while activated.
    • Monster Pump: When used, it spits out blasts of water that will get latched onto the Pikmin's heads and suffocate them. When the weapon is damaged, it will spit out water at a faster rate.
    • Comedy Bomb: When used, it will spray three streams of poisonous gas, pointing in different ways, and are at equal distances from each other. When it is damaged, it will spray four streams that may change direction spontaneously and randomly.

    Notable Techniques

    • Whistle: The whistle is a main part of the gameplay in the Pikmin games. It is the primary way of calling idle Pikmin and leaders over onto the active leader's group, the secondary way being the active leader bumping into them. Whistling can also be used to instantly rescue Pikmin who are under the effects of certain hazards, or Pikmin trapped by special enemy attacks. Throughout the series, the whistle has been modified and repurposed for multiple different techniques.
      • Call: By blowing the whistle for an extended period of time, any idol Pikmin or captains will be alerted and fall into line next to the captain issuing the command.
      • Dismiss: Using the dismiss signal alerts any Pikmin and captains following the current captain to separate into idol groups for further action.
      • Charge: The swarm command plays a sound equivalent to a blow horn which signals any active Pikmin groups in the captain's party to charge a targetted objective.
      • Swarm: The swarm technique directs any and all Pikmin in the captain's current troop to fall in on an objective in quick succession.
    • Whistle Upgrades:
      • The Mega Tweeter: The Mega Tweeter is obtained by defeating the Ranging Bloyster in the Shower Room and collecting the Amplified Amplifier. This upgrade increases the range of the whistles of all captains. The diameter of the visible circle projected on the ground increases to about 144% of its original size, thus more than doubling the area the whistle affects. This makes it easier to call scattered Pikmin to the captain's side, even when being slow in the Onions.
      • Pluckaphone: The Pluckaphone is obtained by defeating the Waterwraith in the Submerged Castle and collecting the Professional Noisemaker. It is an upgrade that allows the captain' whistles to call buried Pikmin out from the ground, saving precious time that would otherwise be spent plucking them out. As well as picking newly produced Pikmin at the Onions, this is useful for calling out Pikmin that were planted by wildlife in battle.
      • Dodge Roll: The Dodge Whistle can be found on a small cliff a short distance away from the exit to the Vehemoth Phosbat cave. It is an upgrade that allows captains to dodge left or right, guiding the Pikmin to do the same. It is done in a straight line normally, or in an arc around a locked-on target.

    • Throw: A standard technique which involves throwing a captain or Pikmin at an objective. This technique is used primarily to launch Pikmin at foes from a distance with risking as many casualties, at the risk of only being to throw one Pikmin at a time. All Pikmin have varying effects and different abilities in combat that allow them to stand out from their fellow speciemen.
      • Red Pikmin: Red Pikmin are the first Pikmin discovered in each of the three Pikmin games. They possess a standard throwing arc with average range. Due to their 1.5 times increased damage output, they are ideal for combat.
      • Yellow Pikmin: Yellow Pikmin are typically the second Pikmin discovered throughout the games (The exception being Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 3 Deluxe). Due to their lighter body weight, they have the highest throwing arc in the series, and can easily reach most airborne enemies.
      • Blue Pikmin: Blue Pikmin are the last Pikmin species discovered in the games (Mainly due to their aquatic diversity). Thanks to their gills, Blue Pikmin excel both on land, and underwater, making them perfect for exploring in submerged areas without risk of drowning.
      • Purple Pikmin: Purple Pikmin are one of three Pikmin species discovered in the caves of Pikmin 2, and the first to be discovered. Their heavy weight and strength of ten regular Pikmin make them deadly warriors. Thanks to their weight, Purple Pikmin have the shortest throwing distance, but can create powerful shockwaves on impact with a solid surface.
      • White Pikmin: White Pikmin are one of three Pikmin species discovered in the caves of Pikmin 2 and are the second species to be found by Olimar and Louie. Their light bodies and small size allow them to be thrown the furthest. To add on, consumed White Pikmin can poison targets, instantly killing them.
      • Bulbmin: Bulbmin are one of three Pikmin species discovered in the caves of Pikmin 2 and are the final species to be discovered. Bulbmin are unique in that they possess the body of a juvenile bulborb, allowing to resist most elemtal hazards.
      • Rock Pikmin: Rock Pikmin are the second species of Pikmin to be discovered by the Koppaites in Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 3 Deluxe. Their rocky physiology gives them the most unique attack of all Pikmin, as throwing them does not latch them on to targets, but instead strike the target before bouncing off a short a distance.
      • Winged Pikmin: Winged Pikmin are the fourth species of Pikmin to be discovered by the Koppaites in Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 3 Deluxe, and the final new species. Their ability to fly makes Winged Pikmin the most capable aerial warriors of the Pikmin species. When thrown, they can latch onto targets, or home in on them when flying. The Winged Pikmin's biggest droback is its weaker attack output.

    Other

Standard Tactics: Louie will typically scan his surroundings with his radars (With his KoPad as of Pikmin 3 Deluxe) and approach an opponent with caution before tactically commanding his Pikmin army to attack the opponent, whilst also using sprays to better his chances at victory.

Weaknesses: Must wear a spacesuit while on unknown planets. Although Louie relies a lot on the Pikmin to get more extreme tasks done, he is far more of a survivalist than Olimar is without them and managed to traverse dungeons without any Pikmin. Louie's hunger can get the best of him and lead him to do questionable things.

While life-forms that excrete foul musks to warn of danger are not rare, the doodlebug is the only species known to release flatulence when active above ground. Interestingly enough, since it is merely releasing the gas created by decay of the contents of the creature's intestines, it does not have a special musk-producing organ. This means the creature is in fact merely flatulating. Spectral analysis of the rank gas indicates it contains not only methane, but hydrogen sulfide as well, making the flatulence a Grade XIII biohazard.

White Pikmin are "born" through a color-changing process within white Candypop Buds, which only grow underground.
The poison within its body is a type of diterpene alkaloid similar to a toxin often found in certain plant roots. If ingested, it can lead to vomiting, respiratory distress, and complete organ failure, ultimately resulting in death due to cardiac arrest.

    4. Members of the dweevil family are known for carrying objects of astounding size on their backs and mimicking them. The anode dweevil is one species in this family. They seem to have no particular preference for which objects they carry on their backs, as they will carry anything they can lift. They boast an internal organ that generates electrical charges, which the anode dweevil releases when it senses danger.

    5. The caustic dweevil is one member of an insect family known for mimicking objects by carrying them on their backs. Several points of differentiation with other members of the species have been confirmed, such as body color and behavioral patterns, but none of these suggest major deviations in the creature's genetic structure. This makes it clear that it is a relative of the family. When attacked by enemies, the caustic dweevil spits out bodily fluids in response. Space suits corrode and oxidize when they come in contact with this highly acidic liquid.

    6. Members of the dweevil family are known for carrying objects of astounding size on their backs, then mimicking them. The fiery dweevil is one species in this family. Generally, this is a very gentle insect that feeds on grass nectars, but when faced with danger the fiery dweevil ignites flammable internal gasses, juts out its jaw, and spews scorching flames. As this clearly makes it a rather dangerous insect, it is best not to linger directly in front of it.

    7. The munge dweevil is one member of an insect family known for mimicking objects by carrying them on their backs. These insects often carry the carcasses of other life-forms on their backs, but apparently this is not for the purpose of transporting them as food, but instead is another example of their mimic behavior. The munge dweevil produces two different chemical compounds within its body, which form poisonous gas when mixed and expelled. This gas is used only for self-defense.
