How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart you begin to understand there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep, that have taken hold.
~ Frodo Baggins

Background

Frodo Baggins is the main protagonist of The Lord of the Rings. He is a Hobbit who lived in The Shire during the last years of the Third Age. Frodo is most notable for being the final bearer of The One Ring of Sauron, charged with carrying it to Mordor and destroying it in the fires of Mount Doom.

After the tragic passing of his parents, Frodo was adopted by his older distant cousin, Bilbo Baggins, who left The One Ring to him at the behest of Gandalf. After carrying the Ring to Rivendell, Frodo became the key member of the Fellowship of the Ring, and was sent out to Mordor.

Once Sauron was defeated after the destruction of The One Ring, Frodo recorded his adventures down in the very same book in which Bilbo recorded his own adventures. However, Frodo was restless, as the wounds he'd suffered from the Witch-king of Angmar and Shelob never truly healed. He made the decision to leave Middle-earth, sailing out to the Undying Lands where he would live the rest of his life free of pain.

He values many things above himself; not just the safety of his friends, but also the safety of all of Middle-earth. When Elrond's company could not decide on who should destroy The One Ring, Frodo volunteered himself, fully knowing of the horrors he would face. He showed Gollum sympathy and trusted him, when everyone around him warned not to, and resigned himself to knowing that he could never return to a regular life), Chaotic Neutral when possessed by The One Ring (Those under the direct influence of The One Ring act as a man possessed, and will become entirely focused on it. They will lash out in anger if it is moved or threatened to be taken, and become overly worried if they happen to misplace it. People will sacrifice their own lives for the sake of owning The One Ring, due to Sauron's corruptive madness)

Hobbit Physiology, which includes: Small Size (Type 0; Hobbits are between two and four feet tall), Weapon Mastery & Adaptation (Hobbits are skilled with all kinds of tools and arms, and can fight off monsters using weaponry they've never wielded before. They can easily adapt to all kinds of environments), Stealth Mastery (Hobbits are fit to become burglars and can sneak around undetected with disguises), Supernatural Luck (Most Hobbits are born with a fair share of luck, far exceeding ones usual allowance), Pure Heart (Hobbits are ordinary folk who keep darkness at bay simply out of acts of kindness and love), Resistance to Transmutation & Corruption (Type 1; Hobbits won't transform into Wraiths despite wielding the One Ring for years. All beings can resist the evil of the One Ring if they acquire it through pity)

Equipment

  • Sting: Sting is an Elvish knife, likely made by Gondolin during the First Age. After a scuffle with a trio of trolls during the Quest of Erebor, Bilbo and the company of Dwarves gained access to the troll's cave. Within this cave was a pile of treasure plundered over the course of several years, which included this weapon. Due to its Elvish nature of glowing blue to warn of the presence of orcs and goblins, Bilbo claimed it as his own weapon. It later acquired the name "Sting" after Bilbo used it to slay an attacking spider. Once Bilbo retired to Rivendell, he passed this sword onto Frodo Baggins.
  • Mithril Coat: A small coat of mail made out of Mithril, a precious Dwarven metal which is highly prized for its strength, light weight, and malleability. This coat was retrieved from the hoard of Smaug after his defeat, and promptly gifted to Bilbo Baggins by Thorin Oakenshield as a sign of their friendship. Bilbo later passed the coat down to Frodo Baggins, once the quest to destroy the One Ring began. Due to the nature of Mithril, it has protected both Bilbo and Frodo's lives on many occasions.
  • Phial of Galadriel: Also known as Star-Glass or Lady's Glass, this was the gift that Galadriel bestowed upon Frodo Baggins, once he and the rest of the Fellowship of the Ring were to depart from Lothlórien. With an exclamation of "Aiya Eärendil elenion ancalima!", the Phial grows bright and can be used to fend off attackers.
  • The One Ring: An ancient artifact created by the Dark Lord, Sauron, in the Second Age. After the creation of the nineteen Rings gifted to the different races of Middle Earth, Sauron created one more in secret; One Ring to Rule Them All. This final Ring, also notably called the Ruling Ring or Isildur's Bane, has the ability to control all those who were gifted the other nineteen Rings. Though Sauron lost this Ring during his battle with the Last Alliance, his dark will had been poured into the object and would corrupt all those who possessed it. It drives the wielder insane, and will slowly corrupt their body.

Other

Standard Tactics: Frodo is highly unexperienced in combat, though due to his Hobbitish nature he will be intelligent enough to stay on the defense, and attack with wild sword swings if the enemy makes any advance. Should Frodo ever feel that his life is threatened, he will put on The One Ring in an attempt to create a far-off distracting noise, and either escape the battle, or use a sneak-attack.

Weaknesses: Frodo falls ill on the anniversary of his stabbings by the Witch-king of Angmar and Shelob. Hobbits cannot survive long in snowy climates, nor are they able to swim. The One Ring will eventually corrupt any being if given enough time.
