Background

Nicol Bolas is one of the biggest antagonist of Magic: the Gathering. Born from one of the eggs of the Ur-Dragon, he is a twin to Ugin, as well as Palladia-Mors, Chromium Rhuell, Arcades Sabboth, and Vaevictis Asmadi. After witnessing the death of Merrevia Sal, his sister, in the hands of primitive humans, Bolas was infuriated by the idea that inferior beings could kill him. Later, when Ugin's planeswalker spark ignites, Bolas becomes so jealous that his does too.

Later on, when Bolas fought a demonic leviathan (destroying 1 third of the continent in the process), he used his death magic to kill it in one touch, creating his first rift. In his battle against a planeswalker known as Leshrac, Leshrac was easily winning as they fought across countless planes, where several of Bolas's bones he lost were scattered across. However, Bolas managed to gain the upper hand by impaling Leshrac with the skeletal remains of his tail, absorbing all his power, then tossing his body into a rift, killing him.

After the massive boost in power, Bolas was one of, if not the most, the most powerful beings in the multiverse. Causing several rifts that each were going to tear apart the multiverse, coming back despite both his body and essence being destroyed by Tetsuo Umezawa, stomping Teferi effortlessly in a battle for control over the timestreams across the multiverse, Bolas was nearly unstoppable. However, when several planeswalkers mended these rifts, the mending depowered Bolas, weakening him and stripping him from his god-like power. Bolas now seeks a way to gain this power back, and will stop at nothing to do so
