My name is Recoome, it rhymes with doom, and you'll be hurting all too soon. I really am a man of many many talents.
~ Recoome

Background

Recoome is a member of the Ginyu Force. He is the most flamboyant member as he is seen striking poses more often in battle than Captain Ginyu himself and generally behaving in a deceptively goofy manner.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Recoome’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Background
Like the other members of the Ginyu Force, Recoome's special powers originated during his childhood: Recoome practiced dance, which is how he got his agility and various battle poses. Recoome was later recruited in the Ginyu Force.

Frieza Saga
The Ginyu Force are called in by Frieza to help him on Namek. There, they find Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan trying to wish for Vegeta's immortality with the Namekian Dragon Balls. Captain Ginyu has his men play Rock-Paper-Scissors to divvy up Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan. Recoome wins hands-down and gets to fight with Vegeta. After Guldo is defeated, Recoome and Vegeta begin their battle, with Recoome pulling off one of his battle poses just before they start. Despite Vegeta striking first, throwing Recoome into a mountain and blowing it up, and using a number of other crafty and underhanded tactics and techniques, Recoome emerges from the rubble unharmed, with only his Battle Armor being disintegrated. When the fight truly begins, Recoome dominates the battle, taking little to no damage from Vegeta's attacks apart from his hair being singed off. Recoome manages to beat down Vegeta until he can barely stand on his feet and it is likely that Recoome would have killed Vegeta with his Eraser Gun, had Gohan and Krillin not stepped in. While Krillin kicked Recoome from behind, Gohan pulled the wounded Vegeta out of the path of Recoome's attack, in order to save him.

Recoome's only ill effects from Krillin's attack are losing most of his teeth, which angered him. Wanting to take revenge on Krillin for his sneak attack, Recoome requests that he should finish off the two earthlings also, to which Burter and Jeice agree on. Then, Recoome nearly kills Krillin with a single crushing Recoome Kick to the head, disabling Krillin from moving. As for Gohan, Recoome takes his time pummeling the young warrior, apparently admiring the boy's bravery and tenacity. However, he ultimately brings the game to an end by cracking Gohan's neck with another ferocious kick. Recoome looks upon his victim with a sadistic smile, as the young boy slowly begins to die from the crushing attack. As he is about to finish off whatever is left of the three struggling warriors, Goku finally arrives. Recoome, Burter and Jeice just look in confusion and astonishment that Goku's allies have healed so quickly after eating Senzu Beans. Goku then proceeds to face his enemy.

As Recoome begins to warm up for his most powerful attack in theatric fashion, the Recoome Ultra Fighting Bomber, Goku deals him a single blow by elbowing him in his stomach. The red-headed alien then falls over unconscious, much to everyone's disbelief. Later, after Goku easily defeats Recoome's comrades, Vegeta kills Burter, and then kills the unconscious Recoome from behind with a powerful Energy Wave.

Recoome later travels to King Kai's Planet with the other members of the Ginyu Force. There they find Tien Shinhan, Chiaotzu and Yamcha. Recoome gets to fight with Yamcha, who is reluctant to do so since he knows the amount of damage Recoome was able to inflict against Vegeta. After Yamcha realizes that he has attained a higher power level than Recoome from training on the planet, he quickly disposes of his adversary using his Ki Blast Thrust technique, sending him into the bowels of Hell along with the rest of the Ginyu Force.

Codex Statistics

Tier: 7-A

Cardinality: Finite

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: Metropolis level (Easily defeated Vegeta, Son Gohan, & Krillin, making him above the likes of Nappa who casually destroyed a city and stood within the blast without having any damage, and Raditz who can cause explosions dwarfing the mountains, which results in these levels of energy)

Durability: Metropolis level, Higher with Guard Up (Ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even block attacks that would otherwise kill them from raising their guard)

Striking Strength: Metropolis Class

Lifting Strength: Class 1 (Superior to Early Saiyan Saga Goku, who before training with King Kai is able to barely move around and jump in gravity that multiplies his weight by ten times, where he's naturally 62 kg, thus making him 620 kg on King Kai's planet)

Travel Speed: High Hypersonic (Superior to Saiyan Saga Son Goku with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds)

Attack Speed: High Hypersonic

Reaction Speed: High Hypersonic (Far beyond 22nd Budokai Son Goku, who could dodge a mouth blast from Tambourine, which he used to tag the flying nimbus where even post King Kai training Goku used the flying nimbus to make it to the saiyans implying it is at least comparable to his flight speed by then, with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds)

Stamina: Superhuman (Comparable to Vegeta who stood thinking for three days without showing any signs of tiring or growing hungry)

Range: Standard Melee, Interstellar with Ki Attacks (Ki attacks can reach out of the planet and to other planets. All ki attacks should be comparable to Goku's kamehameha, which reached all the way to the sun)

Intelligence: Genius Intelligence (Listed as a skilled fighter of the Ginyu Force, making him a skilled warrior feared across the universe)

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Chi Manipulation & Ki Manipulation (All beings in Dragon Ball have ki, the very life force energy of all characters, ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even block attacks that would otherwise kill them from raising their guard, higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them. A users ki aura can exert itself as a weapon to attack), Attack Reflection (All Ki users are able to reflect attacks just by being stronger than their opponent. Examples include, Nappa deflecting a masenko from Son Gohan, Son Gohan being able to bounce back the spirit bomb, Son Goku deflecting a crusher ball from Jeice, Frieza deflecting a Final Burst Cannon from Vegeta, Son Goku reflecting multiple death beams back to back from Frieza, and Future Trunks being able to completely repel an energy blast with his hand from a Frieza Soldier just by being much stronger than them), Homing Attack (Ki users can create attacks that will home in and chase a target forever), Mind Manipulation (Characters can link their ki together and train within each other’s mind enacting in image training), Power Absorption & Transferal (Ki users can transfer their ki to others and absorb the ki given to them from others), Aura (He can surround himself in an aura of Ki. Has an aura of ki surrounding him whenever he exerts ki), Vibration Manipulation (Powerful ki users can cause the very ground itself to shake when they power up), Intimidation, Spirit Manipulation & Pain Manipulation ( Ki is the manifestation of one’s lifeforce, along with the aura giving one the feeling of being crushed, exerting fear into the target, sometimes making them incapable of moving as their body is instinctively stuck due to the sheer difference in power), Energy Manipulation (Ki is the latent power in one's body, this latent power allows them to form and create energy from controlling their ki, which can be used to shoot out energy blast), Explosion Manipulation (Ki attacks can create massive explosions, control the ki to set off a huge explosion under the enemy, or in front of them), Heat Manipulation (Ki user's ki attacks produce heat allowing them to cook and grill animals and raw meat[1][2], along with leaving behind steam after the attacks hit an area, showing its latent heat), Nullification (Attack Nullification; Those with ki can nullify attacks of lesser ki with their ki alone. They can also catch and nullify ki attacks around their level through focusing enough[3]. Power Nullification; Through having greater ki, one can nullify the powers done through ki attacks, such as Frieza being able to nullify a hakai ball[4], which fully destroys a target[5], though he is unable to resist a hakai ball from Toppo due to him being stronger[6], this ability however only works on ki, attacks unrelated, characters cannot resist through being stronger, such as how Vegeta, Krillin, & Son Gohan are unable to resist Guldo's psychic powers, along with even the likes of Son Goku), Forcefield Creation (Ki users such as Cell can generate forcefields around themselves. These forcefields can be expanded, and used to protect others and defend against attacks far higher then the user), Super Armor (Through releasing one's ki, they enter a state known as "Hyper Mode", in this state they do not flinch from weak melee attacks), Self-Destruction (Ki users in Dragon Ball are able to release all of the energy within them to cause a massive self-destruction of energy that normally kills the user and turns them into dust though one can control it to surviving but having no stamina or energy left), Light Manipulation (Ki can be used as a flash of light, Degisu seeing ki attacks be fired notes that the characters are "firing light from their hands"[7]), Dreaming Existence (Characters in Shin Budokai have shown to create physical bodies in alternate timelines through dreaming), Non-Standard Interaction (Intangible Interaction; Those with ki can block intangible attacks when they focus and notices them[8]. Space-Time Interaction; Characters can blast space-time distortions to close them), Healing (Ki can be used to heal beings, allowing them to survive even with half their torso, it can also heal from near death), Fusionism (Burter can perform the Fusion Dance like other characters).

Limited Resistance to Durability Negation (Ki users can focus their energy to localize an object to a specific spot to stop them from attempting to destroy their organs/insides), Resistance to Poison Manipulation (Can resist poisons through Forcefield Creation[9])

Equipment

  • Attack Ball: Like his fellow Ginyu Force members, Recoome uses an Attack Ball featuring the Ginyu Force symbol to travel between planets. According to Vegeta in the Trunks Saga, the Ginyu Force Attack Balls were programmed to fly back to Yardrat as the Ginyu Force was in the middle of attacking it when Frieza summoned the Ginyu Force to Namek. It was either destroyed or used by Goku to escape Dying Namek (as the owner of the Attack Ball Goku used was never identified as it was only revealed it belonged to one of the Ginyu Force members).
  • Scouter: Like most members of the Frieza Force, Recoome wears a scouter which he uses to read power levels and for communications. However like most of the Frieza Force he tends to rely too much on Scouter readings as he was confused by Goku's low power level being inconsistent with his abilities unaware that Goku was raising his power so instantaneously that the Ginyu Force's state-of-the-art Scouters could not detect the momentary increase.

Notable Techniques

  • Flight: The ability to fly with the use of ki.
    • Speed Up: Recoome releases ki from his feet in order to increase his speed, allowing him to dodge the opponent's attacks and get right behind them in order to attack.
  • Ki Blast: The most basic form of energy wave.
  • Enhanced Endurance: Recoome has greater endurance than he should have, as shown by how he took Vegeta's barrage of hits and Final Crash without any wounds and took multiple off-guard attacks without severe injury.
  • Recoome Erase Gun: A Mouth Energy Wave that is Recoome's signature technique. It is so powerful that Krillin remarks the technique warped the very planet (Namek) itself.
    • Recoome Ultra Erase Gun: A more powerful version of the Eraser Gun.
  • Recoome Renegade Bomber: Also known as Recoome Boomba, it is the Continuous Energy Bullet technique he used against Gohan.
  • Recoome Fighter Bomber: Recoome's version of the Super Explosive Wave. Also called Recoome Kaboom.
  • Bakuhatsuha: An Exploding Wave performed similarly to the Recoome Fighting Bomber. Used in Legend of the Super Saiyan.
  • Recoome Boom: The powerful elbow strike he used against Vegeta. Named Recoome Elbow in the Japanese version.
  • Recoome Kick: The powerful knee strike he used against Vegeta. In the Raging Blast Series, it is Recoome's signature attack.
  • Recoome Hip Attack: The powerful bottom thrust he used against Gohan.
  • Recoome Mach Punch: The powerful punch he used against Goku.
  • Super Breath: Recoome inhales deeply and then exhales creating a huge gust of wind similar to a hurricane. Recoome used this technique to counter Gohan's Masenko on Namek.
  • Bomb Aggression: A Full Power Energy Wave/Full Power Energy Ball that is one of his super techniques in the Butōden series.
  • Catapult: Recoome throws his opponent up in the air and headbutts them in the back as the opponent lands on him. Used in the Butōden series.
  • Recoome Death Driver: The powerbomb he used on Vegeta. Named in Dragon Ball Z: The Legend, it is also known as Recoome Mahha Attack, Recoome Driver, or "Recoome Tecerot Soraibomb" in the Butōden series and The Legend.
  • Meteo Guillotine: Recoome's meteor attack in Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22. He performs his catapult technique, then he catches his opponent in mid-air and performs his powerbomb technique, and finally he performs his Hip Attack.
  • Recoome Hyper Swing: Recoome grabs the opponent's head, jumps up in the air while swinging them over his head, and when he gets high enough up in the air, he rushes to the ground and violently smashes the opponent's head to the floor.
  • Recoome Buster Magnum: Recoome kicks the opponent up in the air, then kicks them in the stomach, knees them in the head, and lastly, he makes a powerful kick that sends the opponent down to the ground.

Other

Standard Tactics: Recoome will use hand to hand attacks along with ki attacks.

Weaknesses

Note

  • Some clips used on the profile come from an anime or movie due to the fact that some abilities from ki use shouldn't function much differently from how they can in canon, along with this sometimes the anime version/video game version of a scene will be used for cleaner visuals. Toriyama himself directly overlooks scenes in the anime and movies and gives Toei the thumbs up[10].
  • The speed scaling for PLs are taken with a grain of salt as there are noticeable times where someone's speed isn't equal to their power, such as Burter being faster then Recoome and Jeice, along with Super Saiyan Grade 3 Trunks having his power greatly increased but his speed decreased.

Trivia

  • Recoome's name is a pun of the word "cream."
    • Viz Media went with the spelling of "Reacoom" in the Dragon Ball manga to reflect this pun (the "Recoome" spelling also reflects this pun when cream is spelled as "creme").
    • In the Xenoverse series, Male Voice Option 8 (Curtis Arnott AKA Takahata101 from TeamFourStar's Dragon Ball Z: Abridged parody series) directly references the pun by replacing Recoome's name with the word Creamer when perform Recoome's Skills, which is in keeping with his trend in the Xenoverse series of referring to the members of the Ginyu Force based on the dairy products their names are based on for humorous effect.
  • Though Vegeta blows up Recoome with an energy blast, his corpse is seen when Gohan flies by the battlefield on his way to Goku's ship carrying Piccolo during Goku's fight with Frieza. Perhaps the best explanation is that Vegeta's energy blast simply kills Recoome instead of completely annihilating him. In a similar situation, Frieza kills Dende with a Death Beam. Although there is an explosion, Dende's body is still intact.
    • His corpse is never shown in Dragonball Z Kai, so in this canon he was likely completely destroyed much like Jeice.
  • In the Ocean dub, while Krillin and Gohan are fighting Guldo, Recoome makes a bet with Burter. If Guldo wins, Recoome gets a chocolate nut bar. If Guldo loses, Burter gets the bar. Later, when it seems as if Guldo is going to win, Recoome says "I guess I was wrong. Good old Guldo's still got it," implying that he forgot who he bet on. Burter takes advantage of this and tells Recoome that he (Recoome) owes him (Burter) a chocolate nut bar. In the original, they simply bet on how long Krillin and Gohan will last against Guldo. Recoome says Guldo will defeat them in under a minute. In this version, Burter wins the bar fair and square; he cheats in the Ocean dub.
  • In the Ocean dub, Recoome is given a rather intellectual and sophisticated voice and accent, yet in the Funimation dub, he sounds more oafish and slow-witted, probably to match with his dimwitted appearance.
  • In the Ocean dub, Vegeta at one point refers to Recoome as an "overgrown android", despite never being identified as one anywhere else. This may have been a form of censorship to deal with the amount of bodily damage Recoome experienced over the course of his fight with the heroes or may have been a misconception due to Recoome's striking resemblance to Android 16.
  • Recoome's prone form/corpse on Namek is often digitally painted to remove his visible buttcrack as a form of censorship in foreign markets.
  • Recoome is the only member of the Ginyu Force to have the same English voice actor from the original Funimation dub to the Dragon Ball Z Kai dub.
