Nappa

From The Codex

He's still alive! Now that's what I want to SEEEEEEE!!!
~ Nappa using Volcano Explosion

Background

Nappa was an Elite Saiyan Warrior hailing from Planet Vegeta, who served as the right-hand of the Saiyan Prince, Vegeta. He also serves as one of the primary antagonists in the Saiyan Saga of Dragon Ball. After the destruction of his planet, Nappa served directly under Frieza, alongside Raditz and Vegeta who became a small team. Incredibly simple-minded and lusting for combat, Nappa travelled planet to planet alongside his comrades, wreaking havoc.

After receiving news of Raditz's death on Earth, and hearing of the mystical Dragon Balls that resided there, Nappa and Vegeta decided to head for the planet and claim the Dragon Balls for themselves. After a year of travel, the two arrived and began their search. Very quickly, the protectors of Earth intercepted them, and a battle began.

Nappa easily took on all of the fighters by himself, taking his time to revel in the battle instead of killing everyone immediately. Before he could finally deliver the finishing blows, however, Son Goku made his grand arrival and fought him. After being handily defeated by Goku, Nappa lay unable to walk at Vegeta's feet, begging for help.

Unfortunately for Nappa, Vegeta proclaimed that he had no use for a Saiyan that couldn't move. With one swift attack, Vegeta obliterated Nappa, leaving him nothing but ashes. Nappa was sent to Other World and then Hell by King Yemma, where he remained for the foreseen future.

Codex Statistics

Grade: B

Tier: 7-A

Cardinality: Finite

Dimensionality: 3-D

Power Source: Ki (All beings in Dragon Ball[1][2][3] have ki, the very life force energy of all characters[4], ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even[5] block attacks that would otherwise[6] kill them from[7] raising their guard[8], higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them[9])

Attack Potency: Metropolis level (Casually destroyed a city and stood within the blast without having any damage. Has a power level of 4,000)

Durability: Metropolis level (Stood within a blast blast that destroyed an entire city and took no damage), Higher with Guard Up (Ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even block attacks that would otherwise kill them from raising their guard)

Striking Strength: Metropolis Class

Lifting Strength: Class 1 (Superior to Early Saiyan Saga Goku, who before training with King Kai is able to barely move around and jump in gravity that multiplies his weight by ten times, where he's naturally 62 kg, thus making him 620 kg on King Kai's planet)

Travel Speed: At least Superhuman (Superior to Early Saiyan Saga Son Goku, where it was noted by Goku that it took him six months to travel snake way, which results in these speeds)

Attack Speed: High Hypersonic

Reaction Speed: High Hypersonic (Far Beyond 22nd Budokai Son Goku, who could dodge a mouth blast from Tambourine, which he used to tag the flying nimbus where even post King Kai training Goku used the flying nimbus to make it to the saiyans implying it is at least comparable to his flight speed by then, with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds)

Stamina: Superhuman (Should be comparable to, if not superior to, early-Dragon Ball Z Goku, who travelled across Snake Way mainly non-stop for over 100 days. As a Saiyan Warrior, who are essentially born for combat, his stamina is incredibly high)

Range: Standard Melee, Interstellar with Ki Attacks (Ki attacks can reach out of the planet and to other planets. All ki attacks should be comparable to Goku's kamehameha, which reached all the way to the sun)

Intelligence: Genius Intelligence (An extremely powerful and competent fighter, Nappa was able to easily take on martial artists such as Krillin, Piccolo, and Tien Shinhan, all at the same time, who each have several years of fighting experience)

Powers and Techniques

Chi Manipulation & Ki Manipulation (All beings in Dragon Ball[10][11][12] have ki, the very life force energy of all characters[13], ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even[14] block attacks that would otherwise[15] kill them from[16] raising their guard[17], higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them[18]), Aura (Projection; A users ki aura can exert itself[19] as a weapon to attack[20]. Explosive; Ki users through powering up can form an entire aura around themself, radiating their immense power[21], where depending on their immense strength, can cause them to explode their aura outwards to remove excess ki from themself[22]. Mood Reflection; Goku and Piccolo Jr. with their auras and their stern concentration on each other reflected in their electric auras, even shooting electricity at each other[23]), Emotional Empowerment (It's noted that ki users can receive energy through one cheering them on[24]. Ki users can be greatly increased by their emotions and beliefs, Son Goku explains that Son Gohan needs to remember the time he fought Cell and bring out all of the power he has, this way he can lose to no one[25] where it's shown during the Cell beam clash that he was holding back greatly out of fear of destroying the earth but from being cheered on and using all of his power within him, he was able to overpower Cell[26]), Attack Reflection (All Ki users are able to reflect attacks just by being stronger than their opponent[27]. Examples include, Nappa deflecting a masenko from Son Gohan[28], Son Gohan being able to bounce back the spirit bomb[29], Son Goku deflecting a crusher ball from Jeice[30], Frieza deflecting a Final Burst Cannon from Vegeta[31], Son Goku reflecting multiple death beams back to back from Frieza[32], and Future Trunks being able to completely repel an energy blast with his hand from a Frieza Soldier just by being much stronger than them[33]), Homing Attack (Ki users can create attacks that will home in and chase a target forever[34]), Penetration Damage (Bladed Penetration; Ki users can conjure up a circle of chi that is sharp and can cut through enemies far more powerful then themselves[35][36], along with this they can conjure ki as a means to stab through an opponent[37]), Weapon Creation (Ki users can create energy weapons out of their attacks[38]), Power Absorption & Energy Transferal (Ki users can transfer their ki to others and absorb the ki given to them from others[39]), Attack Nullification (Ki Energy Based; Those with ki can nullify attacks of lesser ki with their ki alone[40][41]. They can also catch and nullify ki attacks around their level through focusing enough[42]), Power Nullification (Ki Energy Based; Through having greater ki, one can nullify the powers done through ki attacks, such as Frieza being able to nullify a hakai ball[43], which fully destroys a target[44], though he is unable to resist a hakai ball from Toppo due to him being stronger[45], this ability however only works on ki, attacks unrelated, characters cannot resist through being stronger, such as how Vegeta, Krillin, & Son Gohan are unable to resist Guldo's psychic powers[46], along with even the likes of Son Goku[47]), Forcefield Creation (Ki users such as Cell can generate forcefields around themselves[48]. These forcefields can be expanded[49], and used to protect others and defend against attacks far higher then the user[50]), Super Armor (Through releasing one's ki, they enter a state known as "Hyper Mode"[51], in this state they do not flinch from weak melee attacks[52]), Self-Destruction (Ki users in Dragon Ball are able to[53] release all of the energy within them[54] to cause a massive[55] self-destruction of energy that normally kills the user and turns them into dust[56] though one can control it to surviving but having no stamina or energy left[57]), Binding (Energy Binding; Ki Users can use their ki to bind targets to objects, making them unable to escape even if they're of equal power[58], however, those stronger than the ki user can easily break out of it[59]), Dreaming Existence (Characters in Shin Budokai have shown to create physical bodies in alternate timelines through dreaming[60]), Non-Standard Interaction (Intangible Interaction; Those with ki can block intangible attacks when they focus and notices them[61]. Space-Time Interaction (3+1-D); Characters can blast space-time distortions to close them[62]), Healing (Healing Singular Targets, Advanced Healing; Ki can be used to heal beings, allowing them to survive even with half their torso[63], it can also heal from near death[64]), Resurrection (Resurrection of the Deceased (Limited); Ki users can resurrect ones heart from death if their ki beams hit their heart, restarting it[65]. Resurrection from Exhaustion; Can heal downed allies to give them ki back, reviving them[66]), Intimidation & Spirit Manipulation (Ki is the manifestation of one’s lifeforce[67], along with the aura giving one the feeling of being crushed[68], exerting fear[69] into the target, sometimes making them incapable of moving as their[70] body is instinctively stuck due to the sheer difference in power[71]), Link Manipulation & Mind Manipulation (Characters can link their ki together and train within each other’s mind enacting in image training[72]), Vibration Manipulation (Seismic Vibration Manipulation; Ki users can transfer their ki into an object and cause it to vibrate and shake greatly[73]. Powerful ki users can cause the very ground itself to shake when they power up[74]), Electricity Manipulation (Unknown Voltage; Powerful Ki users can generate electricity around their aura that can outright electrocute their opponents[75], Goku and Piccolo Jr. showcased being able to utilize their aura as pure electricity during their clash[76]), Weather Manipulation (Powerful Ki users can generate entire storms through merely powering up alone, Nappa used this in order to conjure the electricity from the storm[77]. Goku showcases this when he first turns super saiyan, causing a massive lightning storm in the background[78]), Energy Manipulation (Ki is the latent power in one's body, this latent power allows them to form and create energy from controlling their ki, which can be used to shoot out energy blast[79]), Explosion Manipulation (Ki attacks can create massive explosions[80], or control the ki to set off a huge explosion under the enemy[81], or in front of them[82]), Heat Manipulation (At least 100 C; Ki user's ki attacks produce heat allowing them to cook and grill animals and raw meat[83][84], along with leaving behind steam after the attacks hit an area, showing its latent heat. Ki users electricity aura can burn objects that touch it[85]), Light Manipulation (Ki can be used as a flash of light[86][87][88][89][90][91][92][93][94], Degisu seeing ki attacks be fired notes that the characters are "firing light from their hands"[95]).

Limited Resistance to Durability Negation (Ki users can focus their energy to localize an object to a specific spot to stop them from attempting to destroy their organs/insides[96]), Resistance to Poison Manipulation (Can resist poisons through Forcefield Creation[97]), Resistance to Telekinesis (Chiaotzu's telekinesis does not affect Nappa)

Equipment

  • Attack Ball: This round Saiyan space pod only has room for one person, which Nappa used to travel from planet to planet; notably, he used this space pod to travel to Earth. Nappa's Saiyan pod was later destroyed accidentally by Bulma, while attempting to activate it.
  • Saibamen: Nappa always holds onto seeds that he can plant into fertile soil, which grow Saibamen. These Saibamen are completely subservient to him, and each have a Power Level of 1,200.

Notable Techniques

  • Flight: With a mastery of Ki control, Gohan is able to fly at incredibly high speeds.
  • Ki Blast: Using Ki, Gohan can concentrate it into a ball that he uses as a projectile attack.
  • Volcano Explosion: Nappa rises his right hand with his index and middle fingers up, releasing a white Exploding Wave.
  • Arm Break: Nappa charges up a ton of Ki into his hand, and delivers a powerful punch to the opponent's arm. This has been used to sever Tien Shinhan's arm.
  • Break Cannon: Nappa fires a huge beam of Ki from his mouth.
  • Eye Lasers: Nappa can fire Ki beams from his eyes.
  • Bomber DX: This move has Nappa build a ton of Ki in his palm, before throwing it like a bomb that explodes on contact.

Other

Standard Tactics: Nappa will envelop a tactic of using weaker attacks against his opponent to make them suffer, though if they are stronger than him or around his level he will use his more powerful attacks and attempt to finish them off with ki blast/ki attacks.

Weaknesses

Note

  • Some clips used on the profile come from an anime or movie due to the fact that some abilities from ki use shouldn't function much differently from how they can in canon, along with this sometimes the anime version/video game version of a scene will be used for cleaner visuals. Toriyama himself directly overlooks scenes in the anime and movies and gives Toei the thumbs up[148].
  • The speed scaling for PLs are taken with a grain of salt as there are noticeable times where someone's speed isn't equal to their power, such as Burter being faster then Recoome and Jeice, along with Super Saiyan Grade 3 Trunks having his power greatly increased but his speed decreased.
