They serve as an invincible barrier that can allow one to survive lethal attacks from far stronger foes and restore your health. Rings can also increase your abilities, such as your speed)

All abilities of base form are greatly enhanced, Self-Sustenance (Type 3), Flight, Spaceflight, Invulnerability, Reality Warping, Aura (Can ram enemies with a boosting aura attack), Fire Manipulation, BFR (Super forms could warp away the Space Colony Ark and Finalhazard, which had the Chaos Emeralds), Empathic Manipulation and Power Nullification (By fighting Perfect Chaos, a Super form could reduce it to its base form and calm it. He did something similar to Metal Sonic), Forcefield Creation (Super forms can create a forcefield to constantly protect himself)
