Mmmmmmwee hee hee hee! I have no quarrel with you...but I simply can't allow you to hunt for the Crystal Stars.
~ Beldam

Background

Beldam is one of the main antagonists of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and the leader of the three Shadow Sirens, which consists of herself and her sisters, Marilyn and Vivian (who is later replaced with Doopliss). She is more than 1,000 years old and is the oldest of the three sisters. She and the Shadow Sirens work with the X-Nauts to find the Crystal Stars and open The Thousand-Year Door. Beldam and her sisters are reoccurring enemies that appear many times throughout Mario's adventure in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, making numerous attempts to halt his progress. She and her Sirens always appear during even numbered chapters and are fought a total of two times. In the end, Beldam is revealed to have been the one who arranged for the events of the story, using even the X-Nauts as pawns in her scheme.

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Genius Intelligence, Longevity (Beldam has existed with the Shadow Queen before she was sealed over a 1,000 years ago), Magic, Ice Manipulation & Durability Negation (Bedlam can create a blizzard to damage and freeze enemies with, which causes piercing damage. Piercing damage bypasses the defense stat. Her punches also ice attacks), Size Manipulation, Power Bestowal, Statistics Amplification, & Statistics Reduction (Bedlam can increase the size of others to increase their attack power. Alternatively, she can shrink people down to reduce their attack power. She can also increase someone's speed), Pseudo-Teleportation & Intangibility (Like Vivian, Beldam can use Veil to phase through the floor), Time Manipulation (Beldam can slow down time against others), Poison Manipulation (Beldam can poison others), Regeneration (Mid; All enemies can recover from being squished by the stage), Non-Standard Interaction (The Mario cast regularly interacts with ghosts), Self-Sustenance (Respiratory Self-Sustenance; The Mario cast can consistently breathe in space and water just fine).

Resistance to Conceptual Manipulation/Paint Manipulation
Paint Manipulation which includes: Conceptual Manipulation (Paint makes up everything, anyone in Mario can remove paint by attacking), Life Manipulation & Death Manipulation (Paint is all of life, and removal of it can cause a person or object to have no life within, having their concept of life be removed), Blood Manipulation (Paint makes up all of blood within someone, removing it is the same as removing their blood), Mind Manipulation & Memory Manipulation (Paint makes up the mind, as paint beings can directly speak to your mind by coloring your thoughts. Loss of paint can also remove your mind and memories), Spatial Manipulation (Paint makes up all of space. Removing it makes space as if it was solid), Metaphysics Manipulation (Soul Manipulation; Paint makes up souls and ghosts. Removing it is the equivalent of destroying your soul), Empathic Manipulation (Paint makes up all emotions. Removing it would mean the removal of emotion), Power Nullification (Paint makes up the ability to use powers. Removing it would mean the removal of using powers)
