Background

Agent 3 (3号 San-Gō , lit. Number Three) is the name of the protagonist Inkling from Splatoon's single player mode, Hero Mode, and the player's character in multiplayer modes, respectively. They can be male or female, and their hair and eye color may vary, depending on the player's choice of customization, but are often portrayed as female.

In Splatoon, They meet Cap'n Cuttlefish's and join the New Squidbeak Splatoon with the codename of Agent 3 to rescue the Zapfish, as the other two Agents are the Squid Sisters, Callie and Marie (who are Agents 1 and 2 respectively).

In Splatoon 2, Agent 3 is away with Cap'n Cuttlefish, so another Inkling, the protagonist "Agent 4", follows Marie to find her missing cousin Callie and stop another Octarian theft of the Great Zapfish. They reappear in the Octo Expansion DLC as a non-playable character and a boss.

In Splatoon 3, Agent 3 is named as the Captain of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, replacing Cuttlefish, and is succeeded by a new member taking on the codename Agent 3.

History

Early life

Not much is known about Agent 3's background, except that they left their home at the age of 14 to "be where fashion is made" and moved to live alone in Inkopolis.

Splatoon

In Splatoon, after following him through a manhole in Inkopolis Plaza, Agent 3 met Cap'n Cuttlefish in Octo Valley. After explaining to them the Octarians' plan of stealing the Great Zapfish, he recruited the young Inkling as Agent 3 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, giving them the Hero Shot and a hand-me-down Hero Suit. Agent 3 then progressed through the levels of Octo Valley, retrieving Zapfish and defeating the Great Octoweapons.

After defeating the Octowhirl, however, Cuttlefish got kidnapped, and Agent 3 was instead guided by his granddaughters, Agents 1 and 2. After completing all the levels in Octo Valley, Agent 3 eventually battled the leader of the Octarians, DJ Octavio, in Enter the Octobot King!. After the fourth and penultimate phase of the battle, Agents 1 and 2 revealed themselves as Callie and Marie of the Squid Sisters and played the Calamari Inkantation, allowing Cuttlefish to free himself. With this motivation, Agent 3 defeated Octavio, rescuing Cuttlefish and the Great Zapfish, and Inkopolis' power supply was restored.

Splatoon 2

In Octo Canyon in Splatoon 2, Agent 3 does not appear, being replaced by Agent 4. However, Agent 3 is mentioned various times through Marie's dialogue. Sunken Scroll 25 revealed that Cap'n Cuttlefish went off traveling with Agent 3 for "a research trip to the cape."

Octo Expansion

Before the start of the Octo Expansion, Agent 3 and Cap'n Cuttlefish continued exploring Octo Valley when they ended up in battle against a young Octoling. However, an unknown third party attacked them, leaving them stranded in the Deepsea Metro, with Agent 3 separated. Cuttlefish and the Octoling nicknamed Agent 8 teamed up to collect the four thangs and escape the Deepsea Metro.

After Agent 8 collected all four thangs, the Telephone built them into a blender and tricked Agent 8 and Cuttlefish inside. However, Marina used Agent 8's CQ-80 device to unleash a distress signal to which Agent 3 responded by jumping through the roof and destroying the blender. They were rendered unconscious as a result, with Cuttlefish staying behind to look after them as Agent 8 escaped through the hole Agent 3 made.

While Agent 8 was away, the Telephone attacked Agent 3, partially sanitizing them. Under the Telephone's control, they tied up Cuttlefish and later attacked Agent 8 before they could escape to the surface. After being defeated, the sanitization disappeared, leaving them once again unconscious. They eventually woke up after Agent 8 and Off the Hook defeated the NILS Statue, used by Telephone, as Commander Tartar, to destroy Inkopolis, now with a band-aid on the back of their head as the credits rolled.

When Agent 8 returned to the Deepsea Metro, Cuttlefish explained that Agent 3 went back on patrol. After Agent 8 completed all the tests, a locker in Central Station opened and they had a flashback to the first time they heard the Calamari Inkantation, prompting a final battle against their "Inner Agent 3".

Splatoon 3

Sometime before the start of Splatoon 3, Agent 3 was promoted to the captain of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, with Cap'n Cuttlefish stepping down and going into retirement. They are wearing the Cap of Legend, Hero Headset, Cap'n Cuttlefish's unnamed clothing, and sandals. At the beginning of Return of the Mammalians, Cuttlefish recruits a new Inkling or Octoling as the new Agent 3 to investigate the disappearance of the Great Zapfish in Splatsville.

After a battle with DJ Octavio at the bottom of the Crater, the new Agent 3 ends up in Alterna, where they meet the members of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, but at the same time, Cuttlefish is captured by Mr. Grizz.

After the new Agent 3 collects the three treasures guarded by Deep Cut, Agent 3, now the captain, and the Squid Sisters build it into a lawn mower-like tool together. The captain then uses it to cut off all the fuzz around Alterna Space Center so the party could go there and save Cuttlefish, but is also hurt in the process, and the tool breaks down. The two agents then follow the new Agent 3 into the space center, along with Deep Cut after the latter is given the broken tool.

After discovering the dehydrated Cuttlefish, the captain is devastated along with the Squid Sisters. They hold Cuttlefish's body in their hands and cry. A drop of tear falls on Cuttlefish's body, and he is revitalized by the teardrop in his squid form.

After the new Agent 3 defeats Mr. Grizz and visits Alterna again, the captain would praise them with a 'Booyah!' signal, as one of their only active reactions in the game, as they otherwise have Agent 2 speak for them.

After that, Agent 3 still stuck with the New Squidbeak Splatoon and fought to protect the citizens of Inkopolis. They also sided on Team Order on the Final Splatfest in Splatoon 2 for that reason. In Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion, they were able to save Captain Cuttlefish and Agent 8 right before they were about to get killed. Despite previously fighting Agent 8 as an enemy, they became friends and good with each other seeing that Agent 8 was purified by the Calamari Inkantation and even saved the world against Commander Tartar. They also have honor like Captain Cuttlefish who said that there is no honor in defeated an unarmed enemy off guard upon finding Agent 8 unconscious in Deepsea Metro. In Splatoon 3, Craig Cuttlefish now retired so Agent 3 now took on the title of Captain of the New Squidbeak Splatoon. They aren't an Inkling of many words but they supported and helped New Agent 3 by cutting down the fuzzy ooze that they couldn't destroy and giving them a booyah to show appreciation for saving the world from Mr. Grizz), Chaotic Evil upon Sanitization (Sanitized Ink corrupts anyone hit by it to be completely loyal to Commander Tartar and Kamabo Corporation[2] which wants to destroy the world and kill off all livings things so Tartars ultimate lifeforms can emerge and start anew. Anyone corrupted will be bloodlusted and have no other thought besides terminating any other species or opposers. They also are described to loose all sense of feeling and emotion)

Can effortlessly destroy large crates and destroy large pieces of gold and metal. Was able to destroy this ceiling, Commander Tartar's telephone body and the giant blender that was going to kill Agent 8 and Captain Cuttlefish. Should be comparable to other Inklings who can physically fight each other and Inklings can take several hits from their many weapons), Higher with Abilities (Main Power Up and Damage Up can increase the power of Inkling's weapons), Far Higher with Special Weapons, The Rainmaker, Sub Weapons, and the Three Treasures Assembled (Most Special Weapons and Sub Weapons are able to one shot other Inklings. The Rainmaker's direct blast one shots them as well, and Special Weapons can destroy powerful shields that their main weapon struggles against. With the three treasures assembled, Captain 3 was able to destroy all of this Fuzzy Ooze that is unaffected by any normal weapon)

Durability: Small Building level (Can take attacks from other Inklings, Octolings, and DJ Octavio's Octobot King), Higher with Special Weapons, Armor, and Abilities (Inkling's have a variety of Special Weapons such as Ink Armor that increases durability. The invulnerable Kraken and Bubbler makes them invulnerable to attacks that would normally one shot them. Baller creates a protective ball that takes multiple hits to break. Agent 3 can equip multiple sets of armor that can let them take multiple attacks that would normally one shot them. The Defense Up ability can increase Inkling's Durability), Multi Continental level with forcefields (Inkling's Spawn Point's forcefield isn't damaged at all by Pearl's Princess Cannon which was able to overpower Commander Tartar's NILS statue by 888.8% and the NILS statue had enough power to destroy the city of Inkopolis and even the entire world[3])

Attack Speed: Massively Hypersonic (Can keep up with other Inklings and Octolings in combat), Higher with Abilities

It is implied that the events of the story mode were all in one day as it is night time in the end. Intelligence: Gifted Intelligence (Was able to quickly adapt to learning new weapons and fought the Ocarian army alone, impressing Cap'n Cuttlefish and the other agents with their skill. She was also able to rescue the Great Zapfish from DJ Octavio, complete dozens of missions against the Octarian Army, and rescue every Mini Zapfish. They are also able to defeat the several strong Great Octoweapons used in the Great Turf War where Inklings and Octolings fought to the death in war for remaining territory and nearly led to the Octarian's victory. The Great Octoweapons are regardless to have technology far ahead of the Inklings. Can defeat several high ranked and aggressive Octolings in combat. Is seen as very powerful by Agent 8 who was able to complete every single mission in Deepsea Metro which no one else has ever done and she is the 10,008th test subject. Agent 3 remains a loyal member to the New Squidbeak Splatoon, protecting Inkopolis and its citizens for 7 years and was even promoted to captain upon Cuttlefish's retirement. Can win many games of Turf War and even Reach S+ Rank. Is able to live on her own in the city of Inkopolis without her parents at as young as 14 years old)

Notable Techniques

  • Hero Suit: The Hero Suit is a special outfit worn by Agent 3 and other members of the New Squidbeak Splatoon. It appears to be largely gray with blue highlights and triangular-shaped earpieces. It protects AGent 3 from being splatted and if broken, it can regenerate itself after a few seconds.
  • Hero Shot: The Hero Shot is a modified version of the Splattershot, usable only in Octo Valley. It is able to be upgraded by spending Power Eggs.
  • Ink Tank: The ink tank holds Inklings' ink content. It is depleted by using weapons and can be replenished by swimming in ink of the player's color. The ink tank can be upgraded by spending Power Eggs.
  • Splat Bomb: Splat Bombs in Octo Valley behave very similarly to the Splat Bombs found elsewhere in Inkopolis. They are pyramidal with four transparent faces. Like the Hero Suit, they adopt a gray and light blue color scheme. When thrown, Splat Bombs explode after a short amount of time. This weapon can be upgraded by spending Power Eggs.
  • Burst Bomb: Burst Bombs in Octo Valley behaves very similarly to the Burst Bombs found elsewhere in Inkopolis. They are shaped like water balloons, and, like the Hero Suit, adopt a gray and light blue color scheme. When thrown, Burst Bombs explode immediately upon contact. This weapon can be upgraded by spending Power Eggs.
  • Seekers: Seekers in Octo Valley behave very similarly to the Seekers found elsewhere in Inkopolis. They appear to be small, mechanical devices that travel on the ground toward nearby enemies, leaving trails of ink in their wake. Upon reaching an enemy or after traveling for a short time, they explode into a burst of ink. Seekers can be upgraded by spending Power Eggs.
  • Armor: Armor can be found throughout Octo Valley. When wearing it, Agent 3 appears to be wearing a helmet and safety pads and can take extra damage without getting hurt.
  • Special Weapons: Special weapons can be found throughout Octo Valley in the form of canned specials. Upon collecting a canned special, a certain special is immediately charged up.

Standard Tactics:

Agent 3 attacks with their main weapon and uses their sub and special weapons to their advantage.

Weaknesses: Their movement speed is greatly slowed upon their armor regenerating.

I think it looks like it has a marbled pattern. If you bathe in that ink for a long time, your head will be repainted with Kamabo Co.’s ideas. Commander Tartar's whole body seems to be stained with the thoughts of Kamabo Corporation
