| “ | It's about time, Saiyan. You've been running around making messes for too long and now I'm going to choke the life from you. I can't wait to watch you die. | „ |
| ~ Black to Trunks |

| “ | I look down on existence from a much higher perspective than you do. I witness this world, this universe and the truth of all things. That yields deeper understanding. Wisdom. The realization that all mortals should be destroyed. The one and only mistake among all divine creation. That is what mortals are. And this mistake is egregious. To shape existence into the beautiful utopia it was always meant to be, the mistake must be corrected. I will purge all mortals from existence...In place of the gods WHO REFUSE TO ADMIT FAILURE!! | „ |
| ~ Black to Trunks |

| “ | You give corruption far too much credit, evil does not inform good. It sullies it, like how the Babari sullied their world with violence, or how that arrogant Goku sullied this sacred ground by swinging his fists at a God. Mortals receive the divine gift of intellect, the potential for wisdom, but they misuse it to destroy the beauty of creation. Mortals do not succumb to evil, they are the evil. They create it, and spread it with minds they shouldn't possess. How can we call ourselves gods if we watch this plight and do nothing to stop it? | „ |
| ~ Zamasu |
Background
Goku Black (ゴクウブラック Gokū Burakku), usually referred to as Black, is the main antagonist of the "Future" Trunks Saga of Dragon Ball Super. His true identity is Zamasu (ザマス Zamasu) from the unaltered main timeline within Universe 10. He is a former North Kai and Supreme Kai apprentice serving his former master Gowasu.
Goku Black visited Universe 6, went to the Super Dragon Balls from the unaltered main timeline within that universe, summoned Super Shenron from said timeline, wished to switch bodies with Goku from the unaltered main timeline within Universe 7, and Super Shenron granted Goku Black's wish. Goku Black sought to destroy all mortals alongside Future Zamasu. He was then given the name "Goku Black" by Future Bulma when he initially referred to himself as Goku.
Zamasu (ザマス Zamasu) is the Supreme Kai apprentice serving the Supreme Kai of Universe 10, Gowasu. He is also the former North Kai of Universe 10.
Future Zamasu (のザマス Mirai no Zamasu) is an alternate timeline counterpart of the Zamasu from Future Trunks' timeline. He is the secondary antagonist of the "Future" Trunks Saga. He is the former Supreme Kai apprentice of Universe 10, who became a Supreme Kai. This version of Zamasu is an ally to Goku Black (his past self from the original present timeline) and the two were the only gods left in that timeline. He along with Black worked together to wipe out all Mortals with Project Zero Mortals.

Attack Potency: Up to Metropolis level (Potency) (Can fight both Super Saiyan Blue Son Goku and Vegeta after the both have trained immensely, reached the level of Goku Black throughout the arc, where Goku recieved a massive power boost from pure rage that allowed him to overpower Goku Black and Future Zamasu at the same time, with Goku Black being rage amped back to overpower Goku[12]. This Goku is far beyond his Buu Saga self, who was unimpressed by Dabura's power, who he compared to Perfect Cell, who is far superior to his Semi-Perfect form, who destroyed several islands with several blast). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast (Charged Blast have one focus all of their energy into one single point[13], putting the blasts power far beyond what their peak strength is[14], allowing them to destroy things they couldn't prior with their regular attacks[15], this also allows them to use charged attacks that can stop enemies far beyond their level, such as Tien Shinhan pushing back Semi-Perfect Cell with his Neo Ki-Ko-Ho[16], along with stopping an attack shot from Buu absorbed Gotenks[17]. Strongest charged blast can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[18], with blasts capable of[19] seriously damaging/destroying[20] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[21]. Charged Blast also rely heavily on emotional states for example Gohan not believing in himself[22] was having Cell overpower him in a beam clash[23]) | Up to Metropolis level (Potency) (Matched Goku in his Super Saiyan 2 form, and later grew strong enough to harm Vegeta as a Super Saiyan Blue[24]). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast

Striking Strength: Up to Metropolis Class (Potency) | Up to Metropolis Class (Potency), Far Higher with Super Saiyan Rosé

Attack Speed: Massively Hypersonic | Massively Hypersonic
Reaction Speed: Massively Hypersonic (Superior to base Post Black Arc Son Goku, who fought against a pre-Tournament of Power Son Gohan, who fights against a parasite called Watagash, who escaped Jaco and flew from an unknown location in the universe to Earth in a short timeframe[25], which would result in these speeds) | Massively Hypersonic
Stamina: Superhuman (Is capable of being in pain for almost 6 hours straight and refusing to die. Should be comparable to Vegeta who stood thinking for three days without showing any signs of tiring or growing hungry)
Range: Standard Melee, Universal with Ki Attacks, and Shock-waves (Comparable to Goku whose shockwaves spread across the universe and reached the Kaioshin Realm, otherworld, and more), Interstellar with Instant Transmission, Kai Kai, & Ki (Instant Transmission, can forcibly send his opponent to other places such as heaven. Goku's aura could be seen and felt in the Otherworld[26])
Intelligence: Genius Intelligence (Black and Zamasu were capable of forming of plan to take over the universe, betraying Gowasu and teaming up with each other. As a Kai, Zamasu should be comparable to the other Kais. Black is capable of using Goku's fighting techniques and abilities. Just after fighting Goku, he was able to unlock his own Super Saiyan form, and learn new abilities as he kept fighting)
- Chi Manipulation & Ki Manipulation (All beings in Dragon Ball[27][28][29] have ki, the very life force energy of all characters[30], ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even[31] block attacks that would otherwise[32] kill them from[33] raising their guard[34], higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them[35])

- Mood Reflection: Goku and Piccolo Jr. with their auras and their stern concentration on each other reflected in their electric auras, even shooting electricity at each other[40].
- Emotional Empowerment (It's noted that ki users can receive energy through one cheering them on[41]. Ki users can be greatly increased by their emotions and beliefs, Son Goku explains that Son Gohan needs to remember the time he fought Cell and bring out all of the power he has, this way he can lose to no one[42] where it's shown during the Cell beam clash that he was holding back greatly out of fear of destroying the earth but from being cheered on and using all of his power within him, he was able to overpower Cell[43])
- Attack Reflection (All Ki users are able to reflect attacks just by being stronger than their opponent[44]. Examples include, Nappa deflecting a masenko from Son Gohan[45], Son Gohan being able to bounce back the spirit bomb[46], Son Goku deflecting a crusher ball from Jeice[47], Frieza deflecting a Final Burst Cannon from Vegeta[48], Son Goku reflecting multiple death beams back to back from Frieza[49], and Future Trunks being able to completely repel an energy blast with his hand from a Frieza Soldier just by being much stronger than them[50])

- Forcefield Creation (Ki users such as Cell can generate forcefields around themselves[65]. These forcefields can be expanded[66], and used to protect others and defend against attacks far higher then the user[67]. Forcefields effectivel allow the ki user to be able to block substances from other ki techniques, such as poisons[68]. Ki users can also project forcefields around themselves to protect themselves from ki absorptions that require grabbing them and bringing them into one's body[69])
- Super Armor (Through releasing one's ki, they enter a state known as "Hyper Mode"[70], in this state they do not flinch from weak melee attacks[71])
- Self-Destruction (Ki users in Dragon Ball are able to[72] release all of the energy within them[73] to cause a massive[74] self-destruction of energy that normally kills the user and turns them into dust[75] though one can control it to surviving but having no stamina or energy left[76])
- Dormant Power Reservoir (Ki users have a dormant power reservoir within them, as shown in arcs like the Buu Saga where Babidi saps this energy in order to use the energy to revive Buu and break his seal[77])

- Resurrection from Exhaustion: Can heal downed allies to give them ki back, reviving them[87])
- Intimidation & Spirit Manipulation (Ki is the manifestation of one’s lifeforce[88], along with the aura giving one the feeling of being crushed[89], exerting fear[90] into the target, sometimes making them incapable of moving as their[91] body is instinctively stuck due to the sheer difference in power[92])
- Link Manipulation & Mind Manipulation (Characters can link their ki together and train within each other’s mind enacting in image training[93])
- Vibration Manipulation

Went to train under Master Roshi and learn the turtle hermit style, a style training one to break the wall of humanity[129] mastering the art in both body and mind[130]. This style requires one to train in knowledge[131], work on one's stamina[132] work on their muscles and speed[133] dodge attacks even while tied to a rope in a short range[134] all the while wearing 20-kilo shells[135]. The Turtle Hermit Style are incorporated within this[136], allowing for students that trained under this style to be capable[137] of fighting against other martial artists[138] without needing to be taught any real fighting[139] along with taking no damage from attacks due to the style training their durability[140].

- Shockwave: After engraving Goku's power into his own being he is shown using this technique while testing his new abilities.
- God Split Cut: Zamasu's signature attack, used by Zamasu after obtaining Goku's body and becoming Goku Black to kill the Son family. Appears as a Super Skill under the name Aura Slide in Xenoverse 2.
- Alteration-type ki manipulation technique: A special ability used to extend his God Split Cut into various shapes as well as to change its properties. Only seen used in his Super Saiyan Rosé state.
- Violent Fierce God Slicer: After further refining his power, Black is able to use an enhanced version of the technique, he emits a blade of violet energy from his hand to slash and stab his opponent. It seems to be enhanced by the form's ki aura. In the manga, Black used this technique in his base form to mortally wound his former master, Gowasu.
- God Slicer: A rush attack used against Goku by Black in his Super Saiyan Rosé form where he chases the opponent while firing ki blasts at them, then attempts to impale them with his Violent Fierce God Slicer.
- Azure Dragon Sword Model Energy Blade: An improved Violent Fierce God Slicer gained through powering up from being damaged by an enraged Goku in the anime.
- Divine Lasso: In Super Saiyan Rosé form, Black can shoot out multiple energy javelins from his blade that first pierce the target and then explode.
- Sickle of Sorrow: A more powerful version of the Violent Fierce God Slicer technique, attained by Goku Black after he turned his anger into power in the anime. It became capable of opening a large rift in the universe to an unknown place or time which would release an evil energy.
- The Work of the Gods: The rift created by Goku Black using the Sickle of Sorrow.
- Mass Replication: From the energy of the rift, Black is able to form many clones of himself known as Shadows. The Shadows are unstable and if they were hit, they would disperse, but can immediately reform themselves after. They appear to have the same physical might as Black himself. The Shadows and the rift dissipate once Black goes too far away.
- The Work of the Gods: The rift created by Goku Black using the Sickle of Sorrow.
- Alteration-type ki manipulation technique: A special ability used to extend his God Split Cut into various shapes as well as to change its properties. Only seen used in his Super Saiyan Rosé state.
- God Binding Light Bullet: Goku Black throws his opponent around using energy and then goes to finish them off with an energy sphere.
- Shattering God Slicer: The user kicks their opponent and slashes them multiple times with an Energy Blade.
- Spirit Blade: A blade made of ki, can stab through users like an actual sword.
- Saiyan Power: Black is capable of gaining power boosts once recovering from harm caused by his enemies like other Saiyans. In the anime this ability appears more advanced than an ordinary Saiyans. Every single time Goku Black experiences pain, his power increases. Even minor injuries and moments of pain are able to cause noticeable boosts in his power. Even more, he appears able to recover from injuries much faster than normal Saiyans. In the manga, Goku Black works in the normal nature, as only recovering from more serious injuries will boost his power, to which he also needed aid from Future Zamasu healing him before he could return to battle. Each time he uses this power up it allows his "god mind and Saiyan body" to tie further together, first allowing him to access his standard Super Saiyan form before his power finally surpassed Super Saiyan God, evolving his standard Super Saiyan form into his Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan form, Super Saiyan Rosé.
- Mimicry: In the anime, as an extension of his newfound Saiyan biology, Black is also capable of imitating anything that he learns from his opponent in battle to add to his skill and versatility in combat. During his first fight against Goku, "engraved the battle memories" on his body, and thus enabled him to refine his fighting style to become more like Goku's. This allowed him to use the Saiyan body to its fullest efficiency. He also applied a similar method when fighting Vegeta, recognizing anger as source of power for Saiyans and mimicking that to further increase his power.
- Thunder Shock Surprise: The user shoots a lightning blast towards the target using both hands and traps the opponent within an electric field.
- Telekinesis: Like Shin and Future Zamasu, Black is able to utilize telekinesis to hold down his foes.
|}-|Forms=
- Super Saiyan Rosé: Goku Black possesses the ability to become a truly divine Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (in most media) or his own divine version of the first Super Saiyan form (in the Dragon Ball Super anime, as well as the Dragon Ball Fusions video game). In this form, he is able to augment his techniques into more elaborate variations. In the anime, Black stated that he fully mastered Goku's power to be able to achieve Super Saiyan Rosé. As this form is the divine version of the first Super Saiyan form in the Dragon Ball Super anime, Goku Black transforms into the first, standard Super Saiyan form to achieve the Super Saiyan Rosé form.
Other
Standard Tactics: Both Zamasu and Black prefer using their God Split Cut to stab the opponent and kill them. They will then use their various ki attacks, and if required, they use the Potara to become Fusion Zamasu.
Weaknesses
- Standard Ki Weaknesses: Ki users that do not have sufficient training over their emotions put their power within a mental lock, with changes to their emotions can seriously limiting their powers or making them uncontrollable[162]. Their emotions can also have them instinctively block using the full power of their attacks out of fear of the destruction along with lack of confidence in themselves[163].Ki users can only sense targets moving at super speed through feeling their chi[164], with them becoming so accustomed to tracking energy that they've lost their eyes for movement[165]. Ki users can get hit by off guard attacks from characters far slower then them[166]. If ki users are paralyzed or their nerves are numb, they can be killed by much weaker attacks[167]. If a Ki user is inflicted with any kind of status, disease, or poison, powering up or transforming will put further strain on the body[168] and can speed up the process of poison[169]. Users of Ki Sensing cannot sense beings that invisible, even if the character is in front of them attacking them, they have a hard time countering them due to being invisible[170]. Users of Ki Sensing also have a harder time sensing the true being using illusions, requiring them to focus in on energy fields to see who is moving and who is casting the illusion[171]. Due to the nature of ki draining stamina and energy, Dragon Ball characters ki usage requires them to usually use their higher levels of energy in short bursts, using a large amount of ki overtime can greatly weaken them to the point that characters far lower then them can actually harm them with attacks[172]. Taking large amounts of damage can greatly deplete a ki users attacks, making it where attacks that would otherwise kill massively weakened characters, only pushes them back[173]. Ki users cannot put all of their ki and strength into an attack if parts of their body are broken/injured[174][175], they also lose half of their chi if something like one of their arms are badly injured or broken[176].Ki users that are able to ki sense cannot do it when their guard is dropped, such as when Vegeta was able to sneak attack Son Goku during the end of their fight in the Buu Saga[177]. Despite some ki users being able to reach blasts that can destroy planets through charged attacks or techniques[178][179][180][181], they have not shown to be able to tank such blasts themselves[182][183][184], with attacks that have[185] destroyed several[186] planets in the series[187] always killing the character. Even characters such as Majin Buu's body cannot withstand the energy of a planet exploding[188]. Using ki volley attacks come with the caveat of their aim being rather poor, making it harder to hit moving targets. If ki users are at all possessed, even by accident, their true self will be sleeping within, with the possessor needing to awaken them[189]. Even if awoken, they are immobilized and unable to move without the possessor giving them the ability to[190], even with them wanting to wake up, they cannot do it[191]. Specific waves can can suppress a ki users power, and put their consciousness to sleep[192]. If Ki users stamina is broken, they will unable to be able to continue fighting for a short while, this will also cancel out any ki attack they were attempting to use, including ultimate's[193], this also adds on that ki users guards are down while charging ultimate attacks. Their stamina can also be broken if a character moves far too fast and surprise attacks them while they're charging their ki[194]. Ki Users can also be grabbed out of charging their attacks[195]. When ki users radiate their Ki at its highest, their body is also freed the most, making them open to attacks and making them easy to possess[196]. Ki attacks can be blocked by magma based attacks, such as even when Vegeta's strongest charged blast, the final flash, was being blocked by Magetta's magma[197]. Ki users have far lower reactions and speeds when they do not have their ki up or are not on guard, such as when Mai's sniper would've hit Goku Black if she didn't miss[198].
- Saiyan Weaknesses: Saiyans cannot survive in the vacuums of space[199]. If the moon is at all destroyed, they cannot transform into Great Apes. Along with this if their tail is cut off or they have no tail, they will not be able to turn into a Great Ape. Saiyans used to having their tails can feel off balance with it removed.
- Unique Weaknesses: If Zamasu fuses with a mortal, it will make his body become unstable and lose his immortality[203].
Note
- Some clips used on the profile come from an anime or movie due to the fact that some abilities from ki use shouldn't function much differently from how they can in canon, along with this sometimes the anime version/video game version of a scene will be used for cleaner visuals. Toriyama himself directly overlooks scenes in the anime and movies and gives Toei the thumbs up[204].
- The speed scaling for PLs are taken with a grain of salt as there are noticeable times where someone's speed isn't equal to their power, such as Burter being faster then Recoome and Jeice, along with Super Saiyan Grade 3 Trunks having his power greatly increased but his speed decreased.
Explanations
Codex Statistics Questions
Q: What about the planetary feats in Dragon Ball?
A: Planetary feats are normally done through their strongest charged blast, where they can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[205], with blasts capable of[206] seriously damaging/destroying[207] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[208], though they themselves are never capable of leaving this unscathed.
Frieza throws a destroy the planet death ball attack but it doesn't destroy the planet. Goku then interestingly notes the reason the planet didn't blow up is because Frieza was too scared of getting caught in the blast[209] . Vegeta's final flash is noted it's going to destroy the planet and Perfect Cell, who is beyond Vegeta, couldn't tank the blast and had to dodge it last second or it would've killed him[210]. Goku's kamehameha was going to destroy the earth and Cell cannot tank this blast, needing to regenerate[211]. Semi-Perfect Cell explosion was consistently noted it was going to destroy the planet and Gohan and it killed Goku[212]. Ultimate Gohan dies to an attack that destroys the earth, his guard was up too since this was when he was fighting Super Buu[213]. Kid Buu shoots a blast trying to destroy the planet, with Vegeta noting he's going to take himself out with it if he lets it off[214]. In Dragon Ball GT, Great Ape Baby Vegeta shoots a super galick gun that he claims will destroy Earth, when Goku is hit by it, he is knocked out to the point that he can't move for a good while, Elder Kai and Shin later state that Baby is going to shoot another blast that will destroy the planet on, greatly injuring Baby if he's caught in the Blast and will kill everyone on the planet if done[215]. Frieza destroyed the entire earth, killing Vegeta in the process[216]. In the Dragon Ball Super Manga, Gohan tells Goku that he doesn't need to hold anything back and can go all out because anything that happens to the Earth can be restored with Dende and the Dragon Balls. Yet, none of Goku's all out attacks destroy the planet but just heavily causes shockwaves around it[217]. Semi-Perfect Cell unleashes a several blast that destroys several islands Android 16 notes that the attacks are just strong enough to not kill Android 18[218].
In the fight of Trunks vs. Mecha Frieza, who is far stronger than his final form, Mecha Frieza immediately goes for his strongest attack, the Supernova. In the original Z anime King Kai even states this is ten times stronger than the power he used on Namek:
- DBZ Kai Version[219].
- Original DBZ Anime Version[220]. The attack is directly noted that it could destroy the planet, but doesn't because Trunks catches it, when Mecha Frieza proceeds to detonate it, the explosion is massive but the planet is still intact, implying Frieza must target the core in order to destroy the planet.

- ↑ The Kaiōshin possess the power of “creation”, which provides stars/planets and life-forms the impetus to be born. The one who possesses the opposing power, and authority, of “destruction”, is the God of Destruction. Through the repetition of destruction of stars/planets continually increasing in numbers, and the birth of new stars/planets, the balance of the entire universe is maintained.
