From The Codex
"Mature Content"
This character or verse has mature themes and concepts, thus those of young age are ill-advised to look through these.
Diabolical, humanoid spirit.
~ The Secretaries description given under Wide Angle

Background

Secretaries are a type of enemy that appear through random encounters in Purified Zones. The Secretaries also get more powerful in each Zone. They are stated by Mortis Ghost to be the reason as to why the Purified Zones are so desolate and empty, as they killed all of its inhabitants.

In order to reach a Purified Zone, the player must first purify the Guardian of the Zone then later return to it from The Nothingness.

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Enhanced Senses (Can still attack enemies while under the blinded status effect), Personal Nonexistence (Material Nonexistence; Secretaries are beings that exist in the zones purified by The Batter, which upon purifying zones through killing the Zone Guardians he erases to them to an extent that the names for areas get re-named “???”, along with books, and posters becoming unreadable. It is even noted that the color and everything is gone), Non-Standard Interaction (Metaphysical Interaction; Can interact with The Batter and his Add-Ons), Conceptual Manipulation (Can imbue their attacks with abstract ideas, their competences have relation to the concept of infinity), Limited Mathematics Manipulation (All of the Secretaries competences are related to math, but in particular, the final three are related in some way to the concept of Infinity), Status Effect Inducement, Poison Manipulation, Empathic Manipulation, Power Nullification, & Sleep Manipulation (With “Logical Value”, has a chance of inflicting poison, mute, or furious status effects, ”Oblique Asymtote” has a chance of inflicting the poison status effect, ”Division by Zero”, has a chance of inflicting poison or sleep status effects).
Resistance to Smoke Manipulation (Has a light resistance to the smoke element)

Equipment

Notable Techniques

  • Natural Logarithm: A physical attack that deals average impact.
  • Logical Value: A special attack that has a chance of inflicting Poison, Mute, or Furious. Poison continuously deals damage that ignores the opponents armor and durability., mute completely disables the use of competences, and furious causes the target to abandon all strategies and repeatedly attack.
  • Derivation: A physical attack that deals considerable impact.
  • Oblique Asymtote: A special attack that has a chance of inflicting the poison status effect, continuously dealing them damage that ignores their armor and durability.
  • Vertical Limit: A physical attack that deals incredible impact.
  • Division by Zero: A special attack that has a chance of inflicting the poison or sleep status effect, poison continuously deals damage that ignores the opponents armor and durability, while sleep causes the target to fall asleep.

Other

Standard Tactics: Secretaries will use different competences or attacks as they see fit.

Weaknesses: Has a light weakness against plastic.

Note

  • A lot of OFF’s explanations and concepts are very limited and require many different interpretations, thus making it difficult to completely ascertain what certain elements mean, thus using what one can piece together in game along with Mortis’ statements, we have supplied the following profile.

Trivia

  • The Secretaries all appear to be in a fighting stance similar to that of a boxer, which means they may be related with the Boxxer in Hugo's "Panic in Ballville" comic.
  • While the Zone 3 Secretaries' game sprite makes their face look horribly mutilated, the concept arts show that they're actually wearing a luchador's mask.
  • The secretaries look like babies born with a syndrome called Arthrogryposis. This is more noticeable in the concept art.
  • All Secretary competences are related to math: A natural logarithm is a function similar to the parent function of a logarithm, except using a standard base of the irrational number e, a logical value (or truth value) is a set of true/false statements derived from a proposed question, a derivation describes the process of finding a function's derivative (which measures the volatility in the change of a function's graph with each given input), an oblique asymptote describes a slanting, infinitely stretching line denoting both the direction of a graphed line's rise or decay and its limit in height (with a line's length being described by a vertical limit, or a line parallel to the y-axis denoting the limit of the line's "stretch"), and division by zero describes a simple mathematical example of something giving an undefined value. Notably, a majority of these concepts also deal with the concept of infinity.
