Background

Calypso is the orchestrator of the Twisted Metal contest and the recurring antagonist of the Twisted Metal series. At the end of every contest, he allows the victor to request a single, solitary wish of their choosing, regardless of how ludicrous or seemingly impossible the wish in question may be. Despite his promises, however, his intentions are genuinely cruel and sadistic, with his approach towards granting each victor's wish almost always leading to the recipient's suffering.

Alongside Needles Kane and Mr. Grimm, Calypso is one of the only characters to have appeared in every installment of Twisted Metal thus far, and is the only character in the franchise to retain the same general personality in each game despite the series' ever-changing story and setting.

Powers and Stats

Tier: At least 9-C physically. High 8-C with the Nuke Mobile. Low 2-B with his Powers

Classification: Human, but is implied to be the Devil in the 2012 incarnation.

Attack Potency: At least Street level physically (Fought and struggled against Needles in his ending. Should not be overwhelmingly weaker than him). Large Building level with the Nuke Mobile (Able to contend with an amped Sweet Tooth in Twisted Metal 4). Low Multiverse level with his Powers (Controls all of the universes in the Twisted Metal cosmology and is able to merge them together as it is stated by WOG that every endings are alternate universes that happens within the same universe. It's hinted in the 2012 incarnation that he sees the Twisted Metal series and other Playstation verse's as a video game that he keeps within his trophy case. Possibly tampered with the God of War universe. Should be able to create Parallel Universes in the same manner as Needles)

Travel Speed: Peak Human, Subsonic with the Nuke Mobile, possibly far higher (Amplified the speed of Amanda Watts' dragster to such a degree that it broke through a barrier and began travelling backwards through time with sheer speed. However, it is unknown whether or not he would be capable of applying this to himself). Relativistic+ via Size Manipulation (The largest known size he has reached would grant him this much speed.)

Lifting Strength: Superhuman (Held onto the wing of a plane with his bare hands, and did so while it was flying at an extremely high altitude), as high as Class Z via size manipulation

Striking Strength: Street Class, Large Building Class with the Nuke Mobile (Can ram other vehicles hard enough to damage them), as high as Large Planet Class via Size Manipulation

Durability: Street level, likely Large Building level (Some incarnations have been killed by bullets and knife wounds, while others have survived fatal car crashes and hundred-story falls. Should be comparable to Axel, who pilots a vehicle that has no roof or walls other than his tire to protect him, meaning he consistently tanks hits from other drivers at this level). Large Building level for his vehicle (Can tank hits from amped Sweet Tooth and other drivers at this level). As high as Large Planet level via Size manipulation

Stamina: Extremely high (As a teenager, he survived a car crash which killed several other people, and was able to walk away from it despite losing an immense amount of blood)

Range: Standard Melee Range. As high as several hundred meters with various weapons for his vehicle. Low Multiversal with his powers

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Enhanced Senses (Demonstrated here; Can see the inside of a person's body if he so desires), Genius Intelligence, Weapon Mastery, possible Weather Manipulation (Implied to have created the series' ENV weapons, a few of which have been capable of calling down lightning bolts and summoning tornadoes), Immortality (Type 9. Even if Calypso dies, is sealed away, or has his body swapped with another he will always be back to normal as he navigates between all the alternate realities with alternate versions replacing him), Plant Manipulation (Made the world covered in Flowers), Law Manipulation (Bound to the rules of Twisted Metal, in which he must grant the wish of the tournament's winner whether he wants to or not. Calypso created this contest and its rules), Fate Manipulation (Made Needles the "Star of Twisted Metal", which allowed him to win every TM contest he partakes in. Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius (Calypso is extremely manipulative and cunning, routinely outsmarting the other characters at every turn. He possesses a strong understanding of his powers as well as a creative streak in regards to their usage. He's also exceptionally skilled with vehicular and weapons mechanics, having personally modified all of the contestants' vehicles to perform special attacks of which they would not have been capable before)

Weaknesses: Mildly arrogant. Despite his intelligence, he has been tricked on a few separate occasions. As evidenced by numerous endings throughout the series, Calypso is bound to the rules of the Twisted Metal tournament, and must grant the wish of the tournament's winner whether he wants to or not. Most incarnations of the character appear to be incapable of using their powers outside of granting wishes (See note below)

• Machine Guns: Fires off its mounted machine gun attached to his vehicle
• Quad-Missiles: Fires three homing missiles and a freeze missile that causes a lot of damage.
• Fire Missile: Fires a standard missile. Has minor homing capability.

• Power Missile: Fires a missile that does more damage than a standard missile.
• Rear Flame: Unleashes a stream of flames from behind.
• Tire Spikes: Drops spikes on the ground.
• Oil Slick: Drops a pool of oil on the ground.
• Freeze Missile: Fires a missile full of Liquid Nitrogen that freezes nearby targets.
• Turbo: Can temporarily accelerate.
• Ricochet Bomb: Fires a Bomb that can bounce off walls.
• Remote Bomb: Drops a bomb that can be remotely detonated at any time.
• Energy Shield: Calypso activates a shield that can temporarily make him invulnerable.
• Invisibility Cloak: Can become invisible for a short period of time.
• Napalm: Fires a ball of flame at his foes.
• Jump: Can jump over obstacles easily.
• Ricochet Disc: Fires a disc that can bounce off walls and explode.
• Swarmer Missile: Fires a swarm of up to 6 missiles at once.
• Nuclear Missile: Calypso employs powerful nuclear missiles which must be detonated near his opponents.

Note: As Calypso has no "canon" incarnation to speak of, this profile details a composite character, drawing from all of his appearances within the games as well as information found within the instruction manuals and the limited-issue Twisted Metal 2 comic book.

As well, given the fact that the most recent incarnation of the character has been shown using his abilities to suit his own purposes numerous times, this profile assumes that said powers are no longer restricted to granting wishes.
