Background

Ridley is a clone of the Space Pirate of the same name. He was inadvertently created by the ringleaders on the BOTTLE SHIP during their bioweapon breeding program. This clone was seemingly feral in comparison to his template, but still displayed a high level of intelligence at times.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Clone Ridley’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Though the original Ridley's remains were incinerated in the destruction of planet Zebes in Super Metroid, some of his DNA still remained on the Power Suit of Samus Aran, along with that of other creatures she had defeated on the planet. After her mission, a faction of Galactic Federation scientists secretly obtained this DNA and used it in their illegal project to breed various life forms for use as bioweapons, including an army of cyborg Zebesians under their control. However, Ridley's juvenile form was unrecognizable from his mature form, so the researchers were confused by the white, fuzzy creature they inadvertently created. Dubbing the small creature "Little Birdie", they chose to keep him as a pet, believing he lacked potential as a bioweapon. At some point prior to the arrival of the 07th Platoon and Samus on the BOTTLE SHIP, the cloned Ridley tricked a Lab Worker into releasing him from his cage by playing dead; once the cage was open, the immature clone mauled the worker and escaped.

Samus Aran first encountered "Little Birdie" after she left the Breeding Room in the Biosphere, watching him as he tried to get on top of a fruit. He scurried off after noticing Samus' gaze, but as she turned to walk away, he emerged from the brush once more, staring at her.

Later, a piercing howl was heard in the Kihunter nest, sending the surrounding Zeros into a frenzy and enraging a swarm of Kihunters into protecting them and attacking Samus. After she destroyed the hive, "Little Birdie" appeared and began gorging himself on the honey from the broken nest while roaring at Samus as she walked by. The hunter was disgusted by his gluttony and how he used other creatures' strength to his advantage.

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Human Achievements (Was the leader of the Space Pirates and is shown a capable strategist), Genius Intelligence, Large Size (Supersize; Seems to be around 4–6 meters in size), Self-Sustenance (Respiratory Self-Sustenance; Can breathe and operate in space), Stealth Mastery & Darkness Manipulation (Remained completely hidden to Samus in a room before revealing himself and later was shown making an entire room pitch black to hide himself), Flight (Naturally flies while attacking and can fly through space), Natural Weaponry and Penetration Damage (Physical Penetration; Ridley's claws and tail are highly dangerous weapons capable of piercing terrain and Samus' Power Suit), Immortality and Supernatural Resilience (Regenerative Immortality; Was capable of surviving and being able to feast off flesh while being burned alive), Absorption & Consumption (Physical Consumption; Absorbed the flesh of the people he consumed in order to bolster his own regeneration), Regeneration (Low-Godly, possibly Mid-Godly; Regenerated from the complete destruction of his body and possibly his soul as Omega Ridley. Later returned in Super Metroid after his death in Samus Returns, now having outgrown and removed his cybernetics), Adaptation (Could adapt to the gravity of Zebes and Talon IV with no issue), Transformation (Permanent Transformation; His clone based completely off of him could transform throughout its life cycle eventually becoming his fully matured self), Energy Manipulation, Fire Manipulation, Plasma Manipulation, Breath Attack, & Curtain Fire (Spits out plasma beams can breathe out fire, and shoot out fireballs. Can fire a purple plasma projectile in a five-way spread attack), Shockwave Generation (Can strike the ground with enough force to create shockwaves which damage the terrain), Explosion Manipulation & Fire Manipulation (Ridley's plasma blasts are potent enough to create an explosion which fires off shockwaves of plasma flames), Invulnerability (Physical Invulnerability; Enters a state where he is completely invulnerable to attacks as Samus’ charged shot bounces right off of him).
Resistance to Radiation Manipulation, Gravity Manipulation, and Biological Manipulation (Could withstand the gravity of Zebes with no issue and can survive in space), Ice Manipulation (Unaffected by the ice beam), Durability Negation and Plasma Manipulation (Unaffected by the plasma and wave beam), Absorption (Can have his lifeforce sapped by a Metroid several times and still remain alive)

Equipment

Nothing notable.
