Pegasus Seiya
Main Continuity

We gained countless scars to arrive this far... We lost countless friends... We have made many sacrifices... Therefore, even if it's far from enough, even if it's only one step at a time... We'll keep walking forward... For as long as there is hope... Miracles will always be possible! This is what our bodies learned in all those past battles: For all our friends, and for Athena... We must keep on fighting! We are this world's and Athena's hope! And if you remain standing in our way, then you leave us with no choice but to defeat you!
~ Seiya to Hades

Background

Pegasus Seiya (天馬星座の星矢, Pegasasu no Seiya), also known as simply Seiya (星矢, Seiya) is the titular main protagonist of the Saint Seiya manga and anime series, written and illustrated by Masami Kurumada. Seiya is one of the Goddess Athena's 88 Saints, powerful warriors who fight using their bodies as weapons, defending the Earth from any evil that may threaten it. Being the one chosen by the Pegasus constellation, Seiya is one among the 52 Bronze Saints. Seiya is known for his never-give-up attitude, often acting boldly. This can often get him into difficult situations, but he is brave and selfless, putting the needs of others before his own. Seiya will always put his life on the line to protect his family, friends and Athena, truly proving his worth as the legendary Pegasus Saint.

Seiya was born on December 1. He never knew his parents, and lived in an orphanage along with several other orphans. The orphanage was run by the Graude Foundation, a very wealthy organization owned by Mitsumasa Kido. Learning of the legendary Saints from a dying man named Aiolos, Kido shipped out various young children to various locations around the world in order to be trained by other Saints, in order to become the next generation of Saints. Seiya was sent to Sanctuary in Greece, the birthplace of the Saints, when he was just six years old. While there, he trained underneath the tutelage of Eagle Marin, a Silver Saint. In training, Seiya learned all about fighting, as well as how to burn his Cosmo, the energy within all living creatures in the universe, to allow him to perform superhuman feats. In addition, he also learned how to break down the atoms in his opponents by perfectly targeting their molecules, allowing many of his attacks to break things down on an atomic level.

Eventually, after years of training, Seiya was able to win the tournament for the Pegasus Bronze Cloth. After leaving Greece, he returned to Japan. When he arrived at the Graude Foundation’s orphanage, he found out from Saori Kido, Mitsumasa’s adopted daughter, that he had recently passed away, and that Seiya’s own sister, Seika, had disappeared. Upon hearing this, Seiya agreed to fight in the Galaxian Wars tournament between all the Bronze Saints that had returned from their respective locations. Saori promised that, if he won, the entirety of the Graude Foundation would help search for Seika. Seiya fought in two battles before the tournament was interrupted by Phoenix Ikki, who stole the grand prize, the Sagittarius God Cloth, away from the stadium along with the Black Saints. Seiya and the three remaining Bronze Saints - Dragon Shiryu, Cygnus Hyoga, and Ikki’s own brother, Andromeda Shun - tracked Ikki and the Black Saints to a mountain range, where Seiya himself was able to defeat the Phoenix Saint and bring him back to his senses after being manipulated by the Pope of Sanctuary.

Soon after, the Silver Saints, higher ranking warriors wearing the Silver Cloths, attacked the Bronze Saints. Despite the Silver Saints being initially stronger, Seiya and his friends are able to surpass their normal limits and defeat the Silver Saints. It is during this time that Saori Kido learns that she was in fact, the next reincarnation of Athena. Saori’s butler, Tatsumi, recounts the full story of her adoption. When she was a baby, she was saved by the Sagittarius Gold Saint, Aiolos, who protected her from the Pope of Sanctuary, who had seemingly turned evil. Mortally wounded, Aiolos carried the baby Athena to outside of Sanctuary, where he came across Mitsumasa Kido by chance.

Seiya and his friends traveled to Sanctuary. Athena was struck directly in the heart with a Golden Arrow from the Silver Sagitta Saint. Having no way to remove it, Seiya and the other Bronze Saints began to make their way up to the Pope’s chambers, as only he could remove the arrow from Saori’s heart. If they did not make it within twelve hours, the arrow would fully pierce Athena’s heart, and she would die. Steadfast, the Bronze Saints battled their way through the Gold Saints in the Twelve Temples, awakening the Seventh Sense in the process. After hours of battle, they made their way to the Pope’s chambers. Gemini Saga, the man posing as the Pope, ended up suffering from split personality disorder, giving him two personalities. One good, another evil. Seiya, with the help of his friends as well as Athena, defeated Saga. On the verge of collapsing, Saga’s good side ended up killing himself in order to prevent himself from turning evil again.

When Athena was captured by Julian Solo, the host for Poseidon’s spirit, and began to flood the Earth, Seiya and his friends immediately traveled to Atlantis.

Underneath the ocean, Seiya squared off against several of Poseidon’s Mariners, warriors that were essentially Atlantis’s equivalent to the Saints. He fought against Sea Horse Baian, but due to the similarities that his attacks had with a previous Silver Saint, Seiya was able to exploit his weaknesses and take the victory.

After facing the illusionary powers of Lymnades Kasa with the help of Cygnus Hyoga, Andromeda Shun, and Phoenix Ikki, Seiya made his way over to the temple of Poseidon. Using the Sagittarius Gold Cloth, Seiya tried to stop Poseidon, but all of his attacks ended up reflected back at him. Only the united Cosmo of Seiya, Hyoga, Shun, Shiryu and Ikki were able to down Julian’s physical body, but this only awakened Poseidon’s true soul. Seiya manages to stun Poseidon, and destroys the Mainstay Pillar, the place where Saori was being kept. Afterwards, Athena is able to seal away Poseidon’s soul into a special jar, saving the world once more.

Seiya immediately returns to Sanctuary once he hears about rumors of previously dead Saints coming back to life. He immediately learns that these rumors are true, as some of the Gold Saints who previously died during the Sanctuary Arc have returned, and are under the influence of Hades. However, Seiya is ordered not to interfere by Aries Mu, who knocks him out and sends him to the top of Star Hill, away from Sanctuary.

Once Seiya awakens, much of the battle in Sanctuary has ended, and Seiya fails to prevent Athena from killing herself in order to travel to the Underworld to fight against Hades personally. Seiya and the other Bronze Saints learn of this from Aries Shion, who reveals that the Saints who returned were only pretending to ally with Hades. Shion uses some of Athena's blood to not only upgrade the Bronze Saints' Cloths, but also to awaken Athena's own Cloth, which Seiya and the Bronze Saints agree to take to Athena in the Underworld.

Seiya and the Bronze Saints travel to Hades's Castle in the real world, where they awaken the Eighth Sense in order to travel to the Underworld alive.

Seiya arrives in the Underworld alongside Andromeda Shun. They are able to cross the River Acheron and make their way into the main part of Hades's realm. Seiya and the Bronze Saints make their way through the various Prisons of Hell, each designed to punish those who have comitted grave sins. They regularly fight against Specters, Hades' equivalent to the Saints. Seiya and Shun eventually make their way over to Judecca, the location of Hades' throne room. However, once there, it is revealed that Shun is the next candidate for the body that Hades wishes to possess, due to his pure soul. However, thanks to the efforts of Athena and Virgo Shaka, Shun is able to expel Hades' soul from his body. Hades' soul and Athena disappear behind the Wailing Wall, which only Gods can pass through and is protected with Hades' own power. However, thanks to the Gold Saints sacrificing their lives, a hole is made in the Wall which allows the Bronze Saints to pass through, entering the Hyperdimension and making their way towards Elysium.

Seiya arrives in Elysium, only to discover that Hades' two right hand men, the Gods of Death and Sleep, Thanatos and Hypnos, have already captured Athena. They had placed her in a special jar that would slowly drain her blood until there was nothing left.

Seiya and the other Bronze Saints attempt to stop Thanatos, but one by one fall to his overwhelming might. Not even the Gold Cloths are able to do much damage to him, as he shatters them with ease. However, thanks to the encouragement of Athena, Seiya is able to activate the Pegasus God Cloth, and with it he easily defeats Thanatos and injures Hypnos. While the other Bronze Saints awaken their God Cloths and defeat Hypnos, Seiya attempts to break out Athena from the jar. However, Hades' true form awakens and attacks Seiya.

Athena is able to shatter the jar and don her own God Cloth. Hades and Athena battle for a bit until Hades seemingly stands victorious. However, he is caught off guard by Seiya, unleashing one final Pegasus Sui-Sei Ken, getting stabbed by Hades' Sword in the process. Seiya immediately falls unconsious, and the combined efforts of Athena and the rest of the Saints is enough to kill Hades, albeit for now. Carrying Seiya's body, the rest of the Saints leave the Underworld as it collapses due to Hades' death.

Days after the events of the Hades Arc, Seiya remains in a coma due to being stabbed with the Sword of Hades, which gave him a powerful curse. Seiya's Cosmo has been completely sealed off, and he likely will die if the Sword isn't removed. The only way to do so is to travel back in time and completely erase the Sword from all history. The remaining Bronze Saints, as well as Athena herself, travel back to the 18th Century in order to destroy Hades' Sword in order to save Seiya from the curse.

It is revealed that Seiya soon went missing after receiving the curse of Hades, and disappeared for years. None of his friends were able to make any sort of contact, and it seemed like Seiya had completely vanished off the face of the Earth. When Dragon Shiryu is attacked by the Gladiator God, Gram Sigurd, Seiya resurfaces in order to defend Shiryu. After a brief scuffle, Seiya completely expels the curse of Hades from his body, and re-awakens his God Cloth with Athena's assistance, allowing him to decimate Gram Sigurd and save Shiryu. Seiya disappears soon after, and later returns to fight against Zeus, who had been possessing Leo Aiolia, at his full power. They stalemate each other until the battle is interrupted by Capricorn Shura, along with the rest of the Bronze Saints. The combined power of all of the Bronze Saints is enough to stop Zeus from destroying everything, saving the Multiverse from Zeus's destruction.

Powers and Stats

Tier: 6-C. Low 6-B with the Pegasus Sui-Sei Ken. | Low 6-B | 3-C, 2-C at Full Power. 2-C with Miracles | Low 2-B | 2-B | High 2-B. High 2-B with the Golden Pegasus God Cloth.

Name: Pegasus Seiya

Origin: Saint Seiya

Sex: Male

Age: 13 at the start of the original series. 15 in Next Dimension. Unknown, likely in his late twenties by Episode G: Assassin

Classification: Human, Bronze Saint, Hero Chosen by Fate, Future Gold Saint

Attack Potency: Island level (Generated this amount of power by the first chapter in the series.) Small Country level with the Pegasus Sui-Sei Ken (The Pegasus Sui-Sei Ken is 100 times more powerful than Seiya’s normal Pegasus Ryu-Sei Ken). | Small Country level, likely higher (During his battle against Lizard Misty, Seiya was able to grow strong enough to damage him and defeat him. Lizard Misty earlier took a blow from the Pegasus Sui-Sei Ken, which only slightly cracked his Silver Cloth. Later, Seiya was strong enough to defeat several other Silver Saints, and eventually one-shotted the Silver Sagitta Saint with his Pegasus Ryu-Sei Ken). | Galaxy level (Was able to hurt Leo Aiolia, who’s Photon Burst was compared to the Galaxian Explosion by Gemini Saga, the creator of the attack. The Galaxian Explosion is capable of destroying entire galaxies.) Complex Universe level at full power (The power of the Seventh Sense is comparable to the Big Bang, which created the universe as well as time. Seiya fought against several Gold Saints, which were stated to be able to destroy the universe. Aries Mu, a Gold Saint, was able to erase Iapetus’s universe with his Starlight Extinction attack. Afterwards, he created his own, larger universe with his Stardust Revolution. Seiya’s punches could create a localized Big Bang). Complex Universal level with Miracles (Broke apart the Mainstay Pillar with a Miracle. The Pillar was powered by Poseidon’s own Cosmo and was stated to be able to withstand the end of the Universe. | Low Multiverse level (Comparable to Dragon Shiryu, who was able to completely wipe out three high-ranking Specters, who each were able to easily beat down on Shiryu prior. Shiryu had previously fought against several Gold Saints, so the Specters should each scale.) | Multiverse level (Scales to Virgo Shaka, who's clash with Shijima caused countless universes to be created and destroyed.) | High Multiverse level (Was capable of greatly harming Hades. Fought against and legitimately stalemated Zeus in a one-on-one until Capricorn Shura interfered). High Multiverse level with the Golden Pegasus God Cloth (Should be just as strong, if not stronger, than he was before, as the Golden Pegasus God Cloth triggers when Seiya reaches his full power.)

Dimensionality: 3-D | 4-D by the Hades Arc

Travel Speed: High Hypersonic (Seiya’s Pegasus Ryu-Sei Ken moved this fast, and Seiya was able to speedblitz Cassius at similar speeds.) | High Hypersonic (Should be just as fast as he was before) | Massively FTL (Comparable to Dragon Shiryu, a fellow Bronze Saint, who fought against Capricorn Shura. A younger and less experienced Shura from the past was able to accelerate past the speed of the Big Bang’s initial inflation.) | Extra-Temporal (Traveled through the Hyperdimension, a space where time was nonlinear and distance continuously changed.) | Extra-Temporal | Extra-Temporal, Extra-Temporal with the Golden Pegasus God Cloth

Combat Speed: Transonic to High Hypersonic (Seiya’s punches broke the sound barrier in Chapter 1. Seiya’s punches traveled and reached his target in a millisecond-wide opening from a few feet away.) | Transonic to High Hypersonic | Massively FTL (His own countless punches that accelerated faster than light were able to overwhelm Gemini Saga.) | Extra-Temporal | Extra-Temporal | Extra-Temporal, Extra-Temporal with the Golden Pegasus God Cloth

Reaction Speed: High Hypersonic (Reacted to a millisecond-wide opening from a few feet away.) | High Hypersonic | Massively FTL (Fought against several Gold Saints. Was able to react to and dodge Leo Aiolia firing 100 million punches per second at the speed of light, all with a broken leg.) | Extra-Temporal | Extra-Temporal | Extra-Temporal, Extra-Temporal with the Golden Pegasus God Cloth

Lifting Strength: Superhuman (Regularly carries around his Bronze Cloth in a metal box, which are notoriously heavy, even for a trained Sanctuary soldier) | Superhuman (Should be just as strong as he was before) | Multi-Stellar (Scales to Taurus Aldebaran, who was casually able to lift the Brabeus Tantalon, which was a scale heavier than the celestial firmament and the countless stars within it.) | Multi-Stellar | Multi-Stellar | Multi-Stellar, Multi-Stellar with the Golden Pegasus God Cloth

Striking Strength: Island level, Small Country level with the Pegasus Sui-Sei Ken | Small Country level | Galaxy level, Complex Universe level at full power. Complex Universe level with Miracles | Low Multiverse level | Multiverse level | High Multiverse level, High Multiverse level with the Golden Pegasus God Cloth

Durability: Island level | Small Country level (Fought against several Silver Saints. Was able to block Lizard Misty’s strongest attack, which was earlier used to casually shake the entire Mt. Fuji volcanic chain and collapse its insides.) | Galaxy level (Was able to survive Gemini Saga’s Galaxian Explosion, in addition to numerous attacks from him prior), Complex Universe level while burning his Cosmo to the maximum (Survived several beatdowns from Gold Saints, notably Leo Aiolia and Gemini Saga) | Low Multiverse level (Comparable to Dragon Shiryu, a Bronze Saint that fought several Gold Saints in the past, who survived attacks from three high-ranking Specters at once.) | Multiverse level (Scales to Virgo Shaka, who survived the creation and destruction of an innumerable amount of universes. Wears the Sagittarius Gold Cloth, which is in the same class as Virgo Shaka’s Virgo Gold Cloth.) | High Multiverse level (Survived direct attacks from Hades and Zeus), High Multiverse level with the Golden Pegasus God Cloth

Stamina: Superhuman+ (Saints can fight for hours, with massive injuries and large amounts of blood loss. They can survive underwater at near freezing temperatures, in nearly oxygen-less air, and with critical damage through the heart.) | Superhuman+ | Nearly Limitless (Fought against and defeated several Gold Saints, who can fight for approximately 1000 days) | Nearly Limitless | Nearly Limitless | Nearly Limitless, Nearly Limitless with the Golden Pegasus God Cloth

Powers and Abilities:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Matter Manipulation, Durability Negation and Soul Manipulation (The attacks of Saints, as well as their Cloths, are imbued with Cosmo, allowing them to target and destroy the very atoms in their target's structure, as well as being able to target the soul itself.), Extrasensory Perception (While utilizing the Sixth Sense), Energy Manipulation, Aura, and Heat Manipulation (With their Cosmo, Saints can emit high amounts of heat, imbuing their attacks with high temperatures, as well as causing the area around them to burn up) Regeneration (High. Saints can regenerate from their own atoms and restructure and recreate lost ones.), Enhanced Senses (Saints are capable of tracking events over large distances, including events happening in other dimensions or realms. Many also have enhanced hearing abilities.), Reactive Power Level (Saints regularly improve their skills and get stronger the more they battle.), Reactive Evolution (Saints can analyze the attacks of their enemies and adapt to them after seeing them once, in some cases becoming completely immune to their enemy's hax.), Pressure Points (The Star Life Points are incredibly vital pressure points on the human body.), Telepathy, Probability Manipulation, Fate Manipulation and Statistics Amplification with Miracles (Miracles can alter probability and fate itself, allowing events that shouldn't happen become possible. Seiya himself is a hero chosen by fate and favored to win any battle he may face. Miracles can also increase stats such as strength, and speed.), Summoning (Saints can summon their own Cloths), Curtain Fire (With the Pegasus Ryu-Sei Ken.), Attack Reflection (Reflected Lizard Misty's attack, the Marble Tripper, back at him. Reflected Taurus Aldebaran's Great Horn.), Flight (with the Pegasus Bronze Cloth's wings.), Power Nullification (With the Pegasus Ryu-Sei Ken.)
Resistance to Heat Manipulation, Matter Manipulation and Soul Manipulation (Many Saint's attacks allow them to target and destroy the very atoms in their target's structure, as well as being able to target the soul itself. Saints regularly take attacks from each other all the time and are able to resist these effects.), Illusions (The Sixth Sense allows Saints to easily see through illusions.), Cold Energy Manipulation (Bronze Cloths freeze at a low temperature of -240 degrees Fahrenheit.), Electricity Manipulation (Saints with a powerful Cosmo can withstand up to 10,000 volts of electricity.), Perception Manipulation, Regeneration Negation (Up to Mid-Godly), Nothingness Manipulation, Curse Manipulation, Existence Erasure and BFR (Survived a direct strike from the Sword of Hades. People who are stabbed with Hades's Sword will be sent to an endless void outside of the cycle of reincarnation, unable to be revived or resurrected. They are completely destroyed in both body and soul, and will prevent any sort of reincarnation. Seiya was able to survive and circumvent these effects by the time of Episode G - Assassin, where he completely erased the curse from his own body.), Mind Manipulation, Paralysis Inducement, Life Manipulation and Statistics Reduction (Was able to stay in the presence of several Gods. Just the mere presence of Gods can disable the Six Senses. Gods radiate a divine aura that can cause fear in those around them. It will also force those to obey their commands. This aura can also paralyze and drain the life-force of those around them, as well as causing all of their stats to be reduced to zero.).

All previous abilities to a greater extent, Matter Manipulation, Soul Manipulation (Seventh Sense users can destroy matter below the level of Quarks. Causing damage to Gold Cloths can only be done by breaking the matter that exists below Quarks. Gold Saints regularly battle against each other, and combatants shown to be equal or above the Gold Saints can damage their Gold Cloths. Gold Saints like Cancer Deathmask can destroy twenty billion souls all once. or Capricorn Shura cut twenty billion souls at once. Virgo Shaka's own Power of Ohm can also affect over twenty billion souls. The attacks of Gold Saints can reach temperatures over one million degrees Fahrenheit.), Extrasensory Perception (With the five normal senses, the Sixth Sense, and the Seventh Sense.)

All previous resistances, and Resistance to Matter Manipulation, Soul Manipulation, Mind Manipulation (The Seventh Sense allowed the Bronze Saints to overcome many of the Gold Saints' abilities, as well as the Gold Saints themselves.), Illusions (The Seventh Sense allows Saints to perfectly perceive their environment.), Dream Manipulation, Perception Manipulation, Life Manipulation (By using the Seventh Sense, Saints become completely aware of their own surroundings, even if the five basic senses of humans have been removed from them, and even if one's own human brain is shut off.), Cold Energy Manipulation (Seventh Sense users and Gold Cloths freeze at Absolute Zero.), Existence Erasure, Improved resistance to Electricity Manipulation (Users of the Seventh Sense are completely immune to 10,000 volts.), Nothingness Manipulation.

All previous abilities, Regeneration (High-Godly), Resurrection, Conceptual Manipulation and Immortality (Type 8) (Has the Ninth Sense, a Sense that normally only Gods would be able to access. Gods can regenerate from a concept that they embody, due to the Ninth Sense. However, other Gods with the Ninth Sense have returned from being erased from existence. Hades, the God of the Underworld, had the Underworld destroyed, yet he returned in Episode G - Assassin, thus granting him this kind of Regeneration. Seiya should have this as well, due to being comparable by the time of Episode G - Assassin.).

All previous resistances.

Standard Equipment: Pegasus Bronze Cloth. He can also summon his Sagittarius Gold Cloth to him.

Intelligence: As one of the five Bronze Saints who defend Athena, Seiya is incredibly gifted. Having trained in the Sanctuary, a place where Soldiers trained day and night for hours on end in order to become Saints, Seiya is an expert in hand-to-hand combat. While fighting, he can analyze his opponent's fighting style, strengths, techniques and weaknesses. He's consistently been able to pick apart special techniques and completely nullify them, even if he's only seen them once. Seiya's skills would continuously grow, eventually allowing him to fight against various opponents that had far more experience in comparison to him, notably the Gold Saints and the various Gods that Seiya has fought against. However, Seiya can be impatient and reckless at times, and never really recieved any kind of formal education from Sanctuary, and lacks knowledge in many academic areas. However, thanks to Sanctuary training, he does have a legitimate grasp on human biology, astronomy and can speak Greek, giving him plenty of knowledge in other areas.

Weaknesses: Seiya is quite impulsive and brash at times. He can sometimes rush headfirst into situations without having a complete grasp on the situation. He never received much of a formal education, so he is a bit lacking in certain academic areas. However, many of these negative traits lessened over time as Seiya grew older, as he was able to improve himself over the years.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Pegasus Ryu-Sei Ken (Pegasus Meteor Fist): Seiya's signature technique. Seiya elevates and burns his Cosmo, releasing an innumerable amount of energy-powered punches from his right fist, firing blasts of Cosmo energy at his opponent. It gets faster every single time Seiya uses it, as he continuously tries to perfect it every time.
  • Pegasus Rolling Crush: Seiya grabs his opponent from behind, surrounding both him and his opponent in a veil of Cosmo. Seiya then jumps up at high speeds and pile-drives his enemy headfirst into the ground at similar speeds, causing massive damage.
  • Pegasus Sui-Sei Ken (Pegasus Comet Fist): Seiya's most powerful attack. Rather than firing off many punches from his fist, Seiya focuses all of his Cosmo into one singular punch. This "Comet" is then fired at his opponent, inflicting heavy damage.
  • Arrow of Sagittarius/Cosmic Star Arrow: Seiya summons the Bow and Arrow of Sagittarius. Focusing all of his Cosmo into the Arrow's point, Seiya releases the projectile at his opponent. Upon contact with the target, the Arrow will pierce through it and cause a massive release of Cosmo in a huge explosion of light.
  • Atomic Thunderbolt: Very similar to the Pegasus Ryu-Sei Ken. Seiya releases a massive amount of electric-powered rays of light from his fist, slicing up his opponent.
  • Ikken Hissatsu: Seiya's latest move that he used in Episode G - Requiem. He concentrates a large amount into either the Bow and Arrow of Sagittarius, or his own fist, and fires a massive beam of light from it. This was recently used to completely decimate the Titan Tityos, who had the Ninth Sense, yet Seiya was able to wipe him out in a single blow with this move.
