Poo (MOTHER 2)
“ | My name is Poo. I am the one who will fight beside you. I am the servant of Ness. I will obey Ness. Ness! My life is in your hands. | „ |
~ Poo pledging his loyalty to Ness before joining the party |
Summary
Poo (プー Pū) is a character in Mother 2 (localized as EarthBound). As the Prince of Dalaam, he has undergone strict martial arts training, and is the third and final character to join Ness. He usually uses physical strength as his primary weapon, along with many powerful PSI spells. Poo undergoes a special diet, meaning he can't eat any regular food items and recovers few hit points from ingesting them. However, he can drink bottles of water to recover psychic points, and brain food lunches restore his HP more than they do any other character. Poo has a mirror ability, which allows him to become any enemy in the game during battles, with the notable exception of bosses.
Poo has very high physical stats and a wide variety of offensive and defensive PSI, but his drawback is that he can only equip items from the "of Kings" set. Poo cannot use any weapons except his fists and a weapon exclusive to his use, the Sword of Kings.
Poo is first introduced after Ness eats the Magic Cake, and he completes his training by meditation, which he maintains despite a spirit breaking various parts of his body. Poo then teleports to Summers and declares his allegiance to Ness. Poo is taken from the party after they come up from the exit of the Pyramid in Scaraba by the Star Master, who shows him the powerful PSI Starstorm α, which he uses to defeat Master Barf. Poo is a solemn dedicated warrior, but is loyal to his friends and bringing peace to the world. Interestingly enough, Poo is very popular with the girls in Dalaam.

*Cold Remedy: A medicine used to cure colds.
Intelligence: Genius (Mastered PK Starstorm within a relatively short time frame, which is considered to be the ultimate PSI technique and is implied to only be learnable after a higher level of intelligence is reached. Should be roughly comparable to Ness)
Standard Tactics: Poo is physically the strongest of the chosen four and generally fights with the Sword of Kings, though he has access to powerful offensive PSI techniques such as PK Starstorm to devastate enemies with. In addition to his offensive capabilities, Poo is an effective healer, having access to both Lifeup and Healing. His main weakness is that he has less Pp than both Ness and Paula, meaning he can't use his PSI skills as liberally and must rely on PSI Magnet more.
Weaknesses: Using equipment outside of the kings set decreases his stats. Heals only 6 Hp from eating anything besides brain food lunches. Has the lowest amount of Pp out of every PSI user in the series. Cannot interact with anyone as a ghost.
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- PK Starstorm: The user summons a barrage of psychic stars to rain down upon all enemies and explode, dealing massive damage. It is not resisted by any enemies.
- PK Freeze: The user swirls a very cold wind around an opponent to inflict major damage. Has a 50% chance to completely solidify the target, preventing them from doing anything.
- PK Thunder The user fires a bolt of lightning that deals damage to random targets. Each successive level fires one additional lightning bolt. It is not resisted by any enemies but it is less accurate when there are less targets present to hit. Instantly destroys psychic shields.
- Lifeup: Heals himself and/or his allies. The Gamma level fully restores the health of the target and is very low cost.
- Healing: Removes status ailments depending on the level used. At the Omega level, it is able to cure colds, sunstroke, poison, nausea, strangeness, crying, diamondization, as well as being able to revive fallen allies back with all of their Hp.
- PSI Magnet: The user absorbs psychic power from a target to add to their own. The Omega level absorbs psychic power from all targets present.
- Shield: The user creates a shield that reduces the damage physical attacks and some non-PSI energy based attacks in half at the Alpha level and reflects 50% of the damage taken from enemy attacks back at the Beta level. When applied it provides three layers that can each take one attack, though he is able to stack more layers by using it multiple times. The shield is instantly destroyed by critical hits.
- Brainshock: Inflicts a target with strangeness, causing them to sometimes use their abilities on the wrong target, which includes allies. The Omega level can affect many targets at once. Strangeness lasts until the target is hit by a physical attack.
- Teleport: Allows teleportation to anywhere he has previously been.
- Mirror: The user concentrates and turns into a targeted enemy. Does not work on some enemies.
