Background

Alinivar is the main protagonist of Mother: Cognitive Dissonance. Before his unexpected imposition as a member of The Applechasers following a meteor shower which led to his demise at the hands of Giegue, he presumably spent most of his time in his cave making paintings. Because of his blue coloration (an unusual and possibly unique trait not shared by the rest of the members of his species, the Mooks), he is often the target of alienation at the hands of other Mooks. After being killed by a rampaging Giegue and awakening to a strange, monochrome plane, Alivinar was consulted by a mysterious voice which administered an imperative crucial to the survival of the solar system: collect the four split portions of the Apple of Enlightenment before Giegue can use their knowledge to destroy every planet.

Alinivar's reluctance to being an Applechaser is a constant undertone throughout the adventure, with his Magicant counterpart, Reflecto, constantly reminding him that his only reason for being an Applechaser is due to the bargain he made in order to be resurrected, and would rather just return home to continue being a carefree artist. Nevertheless, he is very kind to everyone he meets, and this is reflected by the fact that his PSI abilities largely specialize in healing rather than the offensive PSI Larice uses.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

*Constrict: Deals damage and can cause the Wrapped status

Wrings one target like a wet sponge.
  • Tentacle Slap: Deals damage and ignores defense
Ever heard that expression about the wet noodle?
  • Forceful Jab: Deals damage and lowers resistance to physical attacks. This resistance to the Physical element, not the Defense stat.
A defense-piercing stab. Like a knife.
  • Multiprod: Hits all targets, causes damage and lowers their resistance to physical attacks.
Lots of tentacles for lots of enemies.
  • Glare: Has very low accuracy, but diamondizes the target when it hits. Still classified as a "Limb" move even though Mooks use their eyes to do this.

The rest of these abilities are for when Alinivar becomes a Chimera

  • Electro-Jab: Replaces Forceful Jab, deals physical and electric damage. Lowers resistance to physical and electric attacks.
Defense-piercing electric mechastabbing.
  • Tornado Whirl: Damaging attack that hits all enemies and ignores defenses
Stabs all foes with jagged metal tentacles.
  • Eye Beam: Has very low accuracy, but diamondizes the target when it hits. Also deals damage. Still classified as a "Limb" move even though Alinivar uses his chimera eye to do this.

*PSI Lifeup α: Heals about 60 HP to one person

  • PSI Lifeup β: Heals about 200 HP to one person. Learned after absorbing the Red Eye
  • PSI Lifeup γ: Heals all HP to one person

  • PSI Superhealing: Fully restores and ally's HP (even if KO'd) and cures any bad status
  • PSI Hypnosis: Causes an enemy to feel strange or fall asleep

  • PK Freeze β: A more powerful version of the previous PK Freeze
  • PK Freeze γ: A more powerful version of the previous PK Freeze

  • Keys: Pre-PSI | Early Game | Mid-Game | Late-Game | Post-Magicant

Note: Whether or not the end game feats are 3-A or 2-C are from the developers of CogDis's knowledge of the feats on the canon game. While it is highly unlikely that they know of canon Giygas's 2-A feat (hence which is why they're not 2-A), it is likely they know of canon Giygas's 2-C feat (disregarding the 2-A feats) due to it being an important plot point of the canon game. The main cast did absorb their magicants, but magicants being 2-C structures as opposed to 3-A ones comes from the original Japanese text, and it is completely unknown if the delevopers of CogDis have knowledge of the Japanese text.
