Yeah, I guess when your family's the richest in the world, there aren't many toys that you don't have.
~ Goten to Trunks in "The World Tournament"

Background

Son Goten is the second son of the legendary martial artist, Son Goku, and the younger brother to Son Gohan. Born directly following the defeat of Cell, Goten was raised solely by his mother during peacetime, and thus didn’t experience much fighting.

Nonetheless, Goten was still born a prodigy, becoming the youngest Super Saiyan of all time, at only 7 years old during his first transformation. He and his best friend, Trunks, were born with such natural power levels, that they shocked most of their family members.

Eventually, Goten would become crucial in the fight against Majin Buu, as he learned the Fusion Dance and, alongside Trunks, could become the extremely powerful Gotenks.

In the Peaceful World Saga (after Buu was defeated), Goten had grown to become a 17 year old teenager. However, as a teen, he had become more interesting in women and dating, losing his chaste and uninterested in romance nature he had as a kid. His dad forces him to fight in the 28th World Budokai, where his lack of training as a teenager becomes apparent.

Name: Son Goten

Origin: Dragon Ball

Sex: Male

Age: 7 years old (Buu Saga) | 17 years old (Peaceful World Saga)

Classification: Z-Fighter, Martial Artist

Species: Human/Saiyan Hybrid

Occupation: None

Alignment: Neutral Good (A member of the Z Fighters, who helped defend the world from villains. Goten has Goku's innocence and chaste nature, not being romantically attracted to anything as a kid. He wasn't completely oblivious and had common sense about society like Gohan did. Voice of reason between him and Trunks but ends up following along with what he wants due to not knowing any better. As a teenager in EoZ, he still maintains this common sense abour society and innocence but becomes interested in women and dating over fighting).

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: At least City level (Is comparable to Trunks, but slightly weaker due to being younger; a Ki blast from whom surprised Android 18. Goten and Trunks’s individual powers were even enough to terrify her. Android #18 herself was able to defeat Super Saiyans without trouble; making her far above the likes of Nappa who casually destroyed a city and stood within the blast without having any damage, and Raditz who can cause explosions dwarfing the mountains, which results in these levels of energy), Higher in Super Saiyan. Multi-Continent level with Strongest Charged Blast (Should be comparable to Vegeta's strongest charged attack, where he was going to use his galick gun to destroy the earth[Note/Explanation 1], which would reach these levels of energy) | At least City level, Higher in Super Saiyan. Multi-Continent level with Strongest Charged Blast

Durability: At least City level, Higher in Super Saiyan, Higher with Guard Up (Ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even block attacks that would otherwise kill them from raising their guard), Lower with Ki Control (Higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them) | At least City level, Higher in Super Saiyan, Higher with Guard Up, Lower with Ki Control

Striking Strength: At least City Class, Higher in Super Saiyan | At least City Class, Higher in Super Saiyan

Lifting Strength: At least Class 25 (Comparable to Vegeta, who trained in 300 times gravity, where Vegeta is naturally 56 kg, making him 16,800 kg or 16.8 tons), Higher as Super Saiyan | At least Class 25 , Higher with Super Saiyan

Travel Speed: Massively Hypersonic+ (Is superior to Namek Saga Son Goku, traveled from Frieza's ship over to Vegeta in this timeframe), Higher in Super Saiyan (Superior to Super Saiyan Son Goku on Namek) | Massively Hypersonic+, Higher in Super Saiyan

Combat Speed: Massively Hypersonic+ (He and Trunks can attack so fast that they catch Android #18 off guard, who is far beyond 22nd Budokai Son Goku, who could dodge a mouth blast from Tambourine, which he used to tag the flying nimbus where even post King Kai training Goku used the flying nimbus to make it to the saiyans implying it is at least comparable to his flight speed by then, with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds), Higher in Super Saiyan | Massively Hypersonic+, Higher in Super Saiyan

Reaction Speed: Massively Hypersonic+, higher in Super Saiyan | Massively Hypersonic+, Higher in Super Saiyan

Stamina: Superhuman (Should be comparable to Vegeta who stood thinking for three days without showing any signs of tiring or growing hungry)

Range: Standard Melee, Interstellar with Ki Attacks (Ki attacks can reach out of the planet and to other planets. All ki attacks should be comparable to Goku's kamehameha, which reached all the way to the sun)

Intelligence: Unknown (Although fairly young, Goten is a has shown to fight against other fighters with several years of experience, including Son Gohan and Android #18. Later in his teens, he trained with Son Goku, who has decades of fighting experience)

Powers and Abilities

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Chi Manipulation & Ki Manipulation (Goten can generate Ki for attacks. All beings in Dragon Ball have ki , the very life force energy of all characters, ki allows a fighter to extend beyond their bodies limits, allowing them to even block attacks that would otherwise kill them from raising their guard, higher level users can lower their own durability to allow people far below them to fatally wound them. A users ki aura can exert itself as a weapon to attack), Attack Reflection (All Ki users are able to reflect attacks just by being stronger than their opponent. Examples include, Nappa deflecting a masenko from Son Gohan, Son Gohan being able to bounce back the spirit bomb, Son Goku deflecting a crusher ball from Jeice, Frieza deflecting a Final Burst Cannon from Vegeta, Son Goku reflecting multiple death beams back to back from Frieza, and Future Trunks being able to completely repel an energy blast with his hand from a Frieza Soldier just by being much stronger than them), Homing Attack (Ki users can create attacks that will home in and chase a target forever), Mind Manipulation (Characters can link their ki together and train within each other’s mind enacting in image training), Power Absorption & Transferal (Ki users can transfer their ki to others and absorb the ki given to them from others), Aura (He can surround himself in an aura of Ki. Has an aura of ki surrounding him whenever he exerts ki), Vibration Manipulation (Powerful ki users can cause the very ground itself to shake when they power up), Intimidation, Metaphysics Manipulation & Pain Manipulation (Spirit Manipulation; Ki is the manifestation of one’s lifeforce, along with the aura giving one the feeling of being crushed, exerting fear into the target, sometimes making them incapable of moving as their body is instinctively stuck due to the sheer difference in power), Energy Manipulation (Ki is the latent power in one's body, this latent power allows them to form and create energy from controlling their ki, which can be used to shoot out energy blast), Explosion Manipulation (Ki attacks can create massive explosions, control the ki to set off a huge explosion under the enemy, or in front of them), Heat Manipulation (Ki user's ki attacks produce heat allowing them to cook and grill animals and raw meat[1][2], along with leaving behind steam after the attacks hit an area, showing its latent heat), Power Nullification (Those with ki can nullify attacks of lesser ki with their ki alone. They can also catch and nullify ki attacks around their level through focusing enough[3]), Forcefield Creation (Ki users such as Cell can generate forcefields around themselves. These forcefields can be expanded, and used to protect others and defend against attacks far higher then the user), Self-Destruction (Ki users in Dragon Ball are able to release all of the energy within them to cause a massive self-destruction of energy that normally kills the user and turns them into dust though one can control it to surviving but having no stamina or energy left), Light Manipulation (Ki can be used as a flash of light), Non-Physical Interaction (Those with ki can block intangible attacks when they focus and notices them[4]), Healing (Ki can be used to heal beings, allowing them to survive even with half their torso, it can also heal from near death), Healing (Ki can be used to heal beings, allowing them to survive even with half their torso, it can also heal from near death), Fusionism (Goten can perform the Fusion Dance). Limited Resistance to Durability Negation (Ki users can focus their energy to localize an object to a specific spot to stop them from attempting to destroy their organs/insides)

Standard Equipment

  • Flying Nimbus: Before learning how to fly, Goten was forced to use his father's Flying Nimbus which Gohan had inherited after their father's death and later passed it down to Goten. However, Goten eventually stopped using it after learning Flight from Gohan.

Notable Techniques

*Flight: With a mastery of Ki control, Goten is able to fly at incredibly high speeds.

  • Ki Blast: Using Ki, Goten can concentrate it into a ball that he uses as a projectile attack.
  • Ki Sense: Goten is able to detect lifeforms and power levels from far off.
  • Kamehameha: The iconic move coined by Master Roshi, which Goten has adopted for himself. This starts as a blue Ki ball, which is charged in Goten’s hands before releasing as an incredibly powerful beam.
    • Kamekameha: A much weaker version of the standard Kamehameha Wave, used by Goten as a child when he first learned of the attack. Not only is it weaker, but it is also more out-of-control.
    • Super Kamehameha: This is an amplified version of the Kamehameha which has a larger and more devastating beam, which Goten uses by first bolstering his Ki.
  • Stone Bullet: The user throws a rock that can only be used in point-blank range.
  • Assault!: First, Goten charges at the opponent and punches them away. Then, he flies up into the air and charges down at the opponent head-first at top speed. When the opponent dodges, Goten blasts the ground with an energy sphere to propel himself towards the opponent's direction to knock them away with a headbutt, using his falling speed to inflict severe damage.
  • Full Power Energy Blast Volley: The user fires flurries of large, bright Ki Blasts that is more powerful than the average energy volley. It is useful for quick, effective, as well as causing massive accumulations of damage to the foes. The difference with the Full Power Energy Barrage Wave is that the user does not move his hands while firing it. The waves themselves just chase the opponent.
  • Fusion Dance: A short series of poses that are performed by two characters of equal power levels and roughly equal size. To correctly perform the Fusion, the fusees must strike the poses in a perfectly symmetrical image of one another. The result of a correctly performed Fusion Dance is a superior being whose power is multiplied several-fold over that of the individual fusees. If the dance is performed incorrectly, it will result in an obese or skinny character who is much weaker than either fusee individually.

*Super Saiyan: Goten gains the ability to transform into a Super Saiyan at a very young age, and is the youngest known Super Saiyan. He could even transform before learning how to fly. He is first shown in the form while training with his mother. Unlike his brother and father, Goten was instinctively able to manifest this form without any extreme emotional distress nor dire need, so much so that he didn't even realize the change until Chi-Chi pointed it out. To which, he quickly mastered the form. This reduces his emotional build-up and energy consumption while in said form to near-nothing and can therefor maintain it for as long as desired without any strain on his body.

*Gotenks: Gotenks is the fusion created when Goten and Trunks perform the fusion dance. Gotenks' power far surpasses either of the fighters' individual strengths other than Gohan and Goku. He attains the Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 3 forms. Goten and Trunks are capable of fusing into Gotenks within 0.05 seconds. They use the technique several times as kids. As young adults, in Dragon Ball GT, Goten and Trunks are tempted to fuse into Gotenks to try and help their fathers but are told not to by Gohan. The Fused Warrior Gotenks shares both Goten and Trunks' playfulness as well as their special attacks and new moves that Goten and Trunks do not have, such as Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack as well as Galactic Donut or Charging Ultra Buu Buu Volleyball.

Other

Standard Tactics: Goten will start off with hand to hand combat along with using ki blast.

Weaknesses: Due to the nature of ki draining stamina and energy, Dragon Ball characters ki usage requires them to usually use their higher levels of energy in short bursts, allowing them to not be able to tank or die to far lower attacks such as attacks that have destroyed the planets of several worlds. Goku notes that Goten could have been much stronger if he had trained.

Note: Some clips used on the profile come from an anime or movie due to the fact that some abilities from ki use shouldn't function much differently from how they can in canon, along with this sometimes the anime version/video game version of a scene will be used for cleaner visuals. Toriyama himself directly overlooks scenes in the anime and movies and gives Toei the thumbs up[5].
