Speed-o'-Sound Sonic
From The Codex
(Redirected from Sonic (One-Punch Man))
“ | Whenever I face you, I cannot picture myself winning for some reason. Unless I defeat you and wipe out this thought, I cannot move on. | „ |
~ Sonic to Saitama |
“ | I have a dream for the future. I'm going to climb to the top of management and take over the village. I'm going to destroy the organizational structure... and raise orphans who had the same circumstances as us in a more free and open environment. Assassination techniques are useless for anything but killing people. What I think has true value... is the power to live life as you please. We don't have that right now. | „ |
~ Sonic to Flashy Flash |
“ | No matter how much I train... ...I can't imagine defeating Saitama. But I hunger to beat him... ...And would do anything to win. Tempest Wind... ...And Hellfire Flame... if I monsterized, I would even surpass them! If I eat this, I will gain monstrous powers! I'll stop being human, but... ...I basically died when Saitama defeated me... ...So I have nothing left to lose. Saitama... ...I'm going to become a monster. | „ |
~ Sonic deciding to become a monster |
Background

Powers and Techniques
All previous powers and abilities to a greater extent, Afterimage Creation (His Four Shadows Funeral has him use his supersonic speed to create four afterimage clones that surround the enemy and slay them from all directions[59], the Ten Shadow Funerals has him use his super-supersonic speed to far surpass the four shadows funeral, increasing the number of afterimages to a maximum of ten[60])
All previous powers and abilities to a greater extent.
All beings in One-Punch Man have a Limiter which through trying to break it[62], starts granting them the following abilities:
Indomitable Will (One that breaks their limiter need to have extreme will to continue[63]), Pain Tolerance (As they constantly need to put constant pressure on both their body and mind[64]), Accelerated Development (Passive, Physical Stats & Abilities; Limiter Removal, allows for endless growth as there is no intrinsic limit placed on people[65]), Adaptation (Garou has shown to increase himself to blitzing and overpowering Darkshine, who previously managed to break his entire ribcage, by breaking his limiter[66]), Supernatural Resilience (Characters like Garou were able to survive being ripped apart and a hole in his chest[67]), Resurrection (To experience explosive growth, one must be on the brink of death and die than resurrect[68]).
Equipment
- Ninja Weaponry: As a ninja, Sonic possesses a large variety of different ninja weapons he utilizes in combat.
- Ninjato: Sonic's primary weapon, being his sword. It has a straight blade and a hilt and is sheathed in a black scabbard, being so sharp it can cut through bone[75].
- Kunai: Standard ninja throwing weapons that he uses for fast throws.
- Mizugumo: Literally translated to "Water Spider", wooden sandals used to walk on water.
- Exploding Shuriken: A long-distance weapon with built-in explosives he was handed down at the ninja village. It can deliver a slashing attack and a bombing attack at the same time.
Notable Techniques
- Secret Technique: Four Shadows Funeral: With supersonic speed, he creates four afterimage clones and surrounds the enemy, slaying him from all directions at the same time.
- Ultimate Secret Technique: TeN Shadows Funeral: Its super-supersonic movements far surpass those of the "Four Shadows Funeral" increasing the number of afterimages to a maximum of ten.
- Wind Blade Kick: He flies around the enemy at ultra-high speed and then delivers a sharp foward-spinning kick from the blind spot he creates.
- 'Hail of Carnage: Altering the trajectory of explosive shurikens to blast the area. It is a technique used in the event of indiscrimnate attacks, such as destroying buildings.
Other
Standard Tactics: Sonic uses his fast speed along with his different weapons to attack an opponent.
Weaknesses: Sonic is extremely cocky of his speed, to the point where if one moves faster then him it will greatly anger him. Sonic mainly relies on his speed and weapons for combat, being physically weaker then a lot of the characters he's ranked up against.
Note
- One-Punch Man has a weird two chapter numbering system, one based on those published in volumes and one based on the online chapters, along with the numbering being further messed with due to redrawn chapters and merges/splits, due to this it is not viable to do references to chapters, but rather through arcs.
- Despite Sonic being a huge threat, it is mainly his speed and weapons and not his physical strength for why he's such a threat. He could not physically harm or overpower Hammerhead and instead used weapons against him[76]. His fight with Deep Sea King he was overall faster then him but couldn't harm him, with Sonic even noting that Deep Sea King has the power advantage but he's too slow, with Sonic even admitting he can't kill him without a weapon[77]. His attacks did no damage to Genos with him direclty noting that Genos hasn't even been able to hit him[78].
Miscellaneous Feats
- Moved so fast that no one noticed him move in the room[79].
- Could easily blitz a cutter whip breaking the sound barrier while also making a sonic-boom with how fast he moved[80].
Trivia
- Sonic was one of the few primary characters actually willing to eat the monsterization food to become a monster[81], but due to cooking it, the food no longer worked and instead he got diarrhea[82].
Battle Records
4 - 3 - 4
- Deep Sea King - Fight[90]
- Conditions: It was raining and Speed O' Sound Sonic did not have his equipment.
- Location: J-City
- Note: Sonic was overall faster then Deep Sea King, though his main issue was that he couldn't hurt him, ending with him escaping to get his weapons to continue the fight.
- Genos - Fight[91]
- Conditions: None.
- Location: City Z
- Note: Saitama knocked down Genos as to avoid explosions in front of his house and to not have Genos using his new parts for a street scuffle[92], thus it's unknown who would've actually won between the two.
- Hellfire Flame & Gale Wind - Fight[93]
- Conditions: Both Hellfire Flame and Gale Wind were teaming on Sonic.
- Location: Unkown Forest
- Note: Hellfire Flame and Gale Wind were just roughhousing with Sonic[94], thus their fight cut short.
