The anxious Waterwraith appears before the final floor of the Submerged Castle, but you won't be able to defeat it until you use Violet Candypop Buds to create Purple Pikmin on the cave's lowest level. One touch from a purple will make the beast temporarily vulnerable.

Bomb Rocks show no sign of working against this creature, never mind Pikmin attacks! Does its body not actually exist in this dimension? Maybe if I hit it with a gravitational wave, the dimensions will converge and it will show itself. But is that possible?
The Waterwraith is a boss from Pikmin 2, found in all sublevels of the Submerged Castle and in the Bully Den in Challenge Mode. It can only be damaged by Purple Pikmin; however, the entrance to the cave is flooded, making them impossible to bring along.
Its appearance is generally humanoid in shape, with the suggestion of a head, body, arms, and legs, but without distinct characteristics, and with a watery, transparent body. As a matter of fact, its scientific name is Amphibio sapiens, which is similar to the human's scientific name: Homo sapiens. The Hocotate ship notes that although it can be seen, its sensors somehow detect nothing, leading to the conclusion that the Waterwraith's physical form is anchored in another dimension. It is one of the most dangerous enemies, as it can instantly kill Pikmin by just rolling over them, and cannot be deterred or defeated until the final floor. However, it does not appear immediately, instead giving the player a five minute grace period before appearing. In the Bully Den, both Waterwraiths will fall when the seconds counter falls to 270, leaving only 30 seconds for preparation.
The Waterwraith is one of the few enemies in Pikmin 2 which has its own background music, along with the Titan Dweevil and the Giant Breadbug. In the Submerged Castle, when it appears, its own theme plays. When it is fought in the last sublevel, the normal boss music plays, and when it has no rollers, a special, more lighthearted version of the boss music plays.
Status:Active (Despite being killed in the Submerged Castle, the Waterwraith appears to be alive and active throughout other dimensions, likely another member of the Waterwraith species)
Alignment:Unknown (The wildlife on PNF-404 don't follow moral ethics and simply survive like traditional animals in the wilderness. However, in the case of the Waterwraith, it seems to have goals in catching Olimar and Louie across multiple parallel worlds)
Durability: At least Below Average Human level+, likely Athlete level (Can take hits from Purple Pikmin and is just as durable as its stone rollers). Immortality and Personal Nonexistence make it extremely difficult to kill.
Striking Strength: At least Below Average Human Class+, likely Athlete Class
Stone Rollers: The Waterwraith's stone rollers are its preferred method for combat and traveling. They can crush all enemies roughly comparable in size to it instantly.
Other
Standard Tactics: The Waterwraith will attempt to steamroll its target as swiftly as possible.
Weaknesses: It's main form of attack can only kill things smaller than itself as it doesn't have any offensive attacks other than rolling over Olimar and his Pikmin. When its wheels are broken, all it will do is try to run away and swat away at foes. The only mentioned way to kill the Waterwraith thing is to force its physical form into the current dimension.
