~ Alice to Serpent |
Background
Alice, also known as the Book of Truth, is the main protagonist of the manga Bibliomania. The manga presents Alice as the 431st of 666 potential "guests" in a large serpent's "mansion", actually a book consisting of the thoughts and dreams of those it traps, creating a page designated for each, which encapsulate their deepest dreams and desires. For the majority of the manga, Alice tries to make it to the book's zeroth page, the only means of escaping, while meeting many people who are dissatisfied with their lives, along the way.
It is later revealed that she was once the sickly, bedridden princess of an unspecified country with the uncanny ability to not forget anything that she had experienced. She was strongly obsessed with reading and gaining knowledge of the world. As a result, she created a powerful artifact known as the "Book of Truth", which can absorb the thoughts of anyone it comes across. She merged with the book, gaining its powers, and became an enemy of humanity, at first humanity was successful in sealing her.
However, due to the corruption and greed of humanity wanting to use her books for weapons of war, the war eventually opened the seal she was in, re-awakening her, this time humanity's weapons did not work against her and she devoured them all, with no humans existing anymore in the world.

Powers and Techniques
All of the people's wishes are merely the result of her bringing them into the book storing all of their souls inside of her[37], where all their anger, sadness, joy, strength, weakness, wishes, prayers, all truth is turning into words, and all truth is being carved into her[38], thus she gets:
Consumption (Metaphysical Consumption) & Fusionism (The Book consumes people, binding all of the flesh and souls together merging all into one being of immense power[39]), Madness Manipulation (For every wish granted to one the book has consumed, its magick drives their heart madder and they grow ever distant to their neighbors and the outside world[40]), Corrosion Manipulation (Upon one leaving their room, their body will start to rot and once it spreads across their body, their body will crumble[41]. This was shown when Alice repeatedly kept resurrecting a new body every time her body kept rotting away[42]. The desire poison grows more severe the farther one is from their room, making it where the lower the page number, the faster travel rots the body, where those in the rooms below room 100 can't even enter their neighbors' without crumbling[43]), Text Manipulation & Transmutation (If the body compeltely rots away, then the persons soul will be dragged back to their room and they will become words[44], further noted by Serpent that those who die in the book turn into words[45]), Magic (The book contains magicks as a means to fufill people's desires[46]), Wish Granting & Reality Warping (All wishes shall come true within the pages of the books[47]), this includes:
Creation (Alice wished for food and received a large amount of food[48]), Universal Creation (Guest 324 made a world where they could "smell the universe"[49]), Resurrection, Space-Time Manipulation, & Pocket Reality Manipulation (Guest 430 created a room where he could endlessly kill the same person day after day[50]), Fire Manipulation (Everytime Guest 430 killed the guy, it would cause fire all around his body[51]), Physics Manipulation & Gravity Manipulation (Guest 413's room has a different laws of physics where Alice was falling into the sky[52]), Flight (Guest 413 wish to become a bird, to be free from the meaningless borders drawn across the ground, to be free from the unslightly conflicts of man[53]), Explosion Manipulation (Guest 413's wish had constant bombardments on the ground to symbolize the "unsightly conflicts of man"[54]), Time Manipulation & Time Stop (Guest 385 gained the abilities to stop and resume time through his wish[55]), Weapon Creation (Guest 385 has the ability to create weapons with his wish[56]), Empathic Manipulation (Guest 385 made a room where everyone will fall for him and respect him[57]), Smoke Manipulation (Guest 366 wished for a world where he could endlessly smoke, having smoek come out of his eyes, mouth, and fingers[58]), Transformation (Shapeshifting; Guest 339 turned himself into a talking tree[59]. Guest 359 turned himself into a musical instrument[60]), Technology Manipulation (Guest 312 made a world purely of them singing on TV, with TVs being everywhere[61]. Guest 255 had a world where he had technologically advanced devices and cloning[62]), Size Manipulation & Duplication (Guest 330 made a world where there are dozens of giant naked woman[63]), Erasure (Guest 285 wished for a world where time did not exist[64]), Immortality (Ageless; Guest 276 made a world where she could live forever[65]), Plant Manipulation (Guest 276 could control the plants in her world[66])
Equipment
Through her knowledge and pages, she has a near-infinite amount of equipment.
Other
Standard Tactics: Alice will do things to satisfy her curiosity, such as when she smells a book with the scent of her little brother, and let her little brother absorb her so she can examine the pages and ultimately absorb him.
Weaknesses: Initially she had a weakness of having an immense joy at the sight of the world never seen before and the collection of sweet knowledge which the humans took advantage of and used biblioclastic rounds imbued with the concentrated magick of the humans of the time to seal her[67].
Note
- While guests can make entire universes inside of the book[68], it is still within the book, and Alice embodying the book and the pages does not make her universal in size, we directly see her true size in the real world and while large, it is not the size of multiple universes[69], thus these universes serve more as pocket realities within the book that don't impact the users' size of tier for that matter.
Trivia
- Alice is loosely based on the Alice from the Lewis Carrol novel Alice in Wonderland.
