I want to be a true gentleman! You were a woman in trouble! There are times when a gentlemen has to be courageous and fight, even when his opponent is bigger than he is and he knows he's going to lose!
~ Jonathan Joestar to Erina Pendleton
There won't be a single bone of yours left in this world! I shall vanish your wicked soul!
~ Jonathan Joestar to Tarkus

Background

Jonathan Joestar is an English nobleman born in the late 19th Century. As an infant, Jonathan was involved in a carriage crash that killed his mother, as he and his father were seemingly rescued by a shady man known as Dario Brando.

Jonathan was raised solely by his father, George Joestar, in the large Joestar Estate, and things were peaceful for twelve years. However, feeling as though he owed Dario Brando a favor, George decided to allow Dario’s son, Dio Brando, into his home, and treated him as his own son.

Unfortunately, Jonathan and Dio would get off on the wrong foot, as Dio decided to mess with his life as possible. Dio would not only kill Jonathan’s dog, but also taint Jonathan’s love, Erina Pendleton, with a kiss. Jonathan and Dio, although they attempted to get along for the next seven years, would always hold a deep-seeded rivalry for one another.

Once the two boys reached 19 years old, having reached their own career paths, Jonathan thought an understanding had come between them. However, unbeknownst to Jonathan, Dio was secretly planning on killing their father, George, so that he may inherit the Joestar Estate.

Although Jonathan found out about this plan, and made an acquaintance named Robert E.O Speedwagon to accompany him, it was far too late. Dio acquired an ancient relic known as the Stone Mask, smearing George’s blood over it and transforming him into a vampire. With his brother having lost his humanity, Jonathan briefly mourned his father before vowing to destroy Dio.

Jonathan and Dio’s legendary battle burnt down the entire Joestar Estate, though this fight would not be their last meeting. In order to fully take out Dio and his rising forces, Jonathan became the student of a man named Will Anthonio Zeppeli, and studied the teaching of an ability known as Hamon.

Although he lost friends along the way, including Zeppeli himself, Jonathan’s resolve stayed strong, until he could confront Dio in his castle. After a dangerous battle, Jonathan bisected Dio, burnt his body to ash, and sent his head crumbling to the ground.

With Dio presumably dead at last, Jonathan was finally able to settle down with his love, Erina Pendleton, and get married to her. The two would conceive a child together before heading out on a boat trip to America. Unfortunately, the decapitated head of Dio accompanied them on this trip, and he planned on stealing Jonathan’s body for himself.

Jonathan and Dio battled once final time, destroying the boat around them. Jonathan was able to get Erina to safety, before succumbing to his wounds and passing out, clutching Dio’s head in his arms. After Jonathan’s death, Dio would finally take his body for himself, and hide away in a coffin for the next hundred years.

Jonathan’s legacy lived on in his son, George Joestar II, and his grandson, Joseph Joestar. Meanwhile, Dio (now named DIO) continued to live on in Jonathan’s body, using it to torment the Joestar bloodline a hundred years later.

Classification: Human, Hamon Warrior, Archaeologist

Status: Deceased (Succumbed to his injuries from Dio Brando)

Alignment: Neutral Good (Jonathan is correctly called a gentleman on numerous occasions, as he is one of the most polite members of the Joestar family, if not the most polite character in the entire series. Jonathan loves all things that bring peace and happiness, but despises evil to his very core. He holds very strong attachments to his friends and family, but will do what needs to be done to rescue lives, such as when he was forced to take on his own brother, Dio Brando. Jonathan forgives all people he meets with his gentle heart, all the while punishing the truly wicked without any apprehension)

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: Peak Human level (Sent a someone flying into the air with a elbow), Higher with weapons and Rage Power (Used a knife to carve out words on a tree. Able to beat down Dio Brando in a fit of rage and even sending him flying. Dio can one-shot a dog, knocking the teeth out of its feet, easily overpower and harm a calmer Jonathan Joestar and send him flying with his punches during a boxing match) | Peak Human level (Able to throw Dio through wooden guardrails. While holding back he could send criminals flying with his attacks. Could easily knock off three athletes), Higher with weapons (Has a access to a knife. Used a gun to shoot Dio Brando. He was able to effortlessly bisect Tarkus' arm and overpower him, Tarkus had previously outmatched him and bisected Will Anthonio Zeppeli, who can spilt a rock in half and destroy brick. Able to bisect, punch holes through, and ultimately defeat Dio Brando. Dio can casually burrow his fingers within brick, cut several policemen in half, bend and snap a thick iron spear with ease, casually break through the wall through just walking on it, smash through the Joestar mansion's roof, causally burrow his fingers within stone, dig through a stone pillar, crush a metal cross and was noted to be five times stronger than the combined power of Pre-Deep Pass Overdrive Jonathan Joestar and Will Anthonio Zeppeli with Jonathan noting he is on a completely different level then himself during the fire. Dio is also stronger than his Stardust Crusaders self, who can redirect Hierophant Green's Emerald Splash with enough force to destroy the roof of a car and with enough force to create an explosion of this level of energy, along with being able to punch Jean Pierre Polnareff with enough force to send him flying into a wall destroying it in the process. Dio should be superior to newly formed vampires and devolving vampires, who can break stone floors, punch large carters into walls which requires this much energy to do, and break stone walls by punching small dogs at them)

Durability: Peak Human level, Higher with Rage Power | Peak Human level, Wall level with Rage Power, Wall level+ when blocking with a spear (Using a spear he was able to block a hit from Dio Brando) | Wall level (Took a punch from Will Anthonio Zeppeli) | At least Wall level+ (Unharmed by Trakus's punch. Combat Speed: Superhuman (Can create afterimages with his punches), Higher with Rage Power (Able to tag Dio Brando who he could not tag before) | Superhuman (Spun a spear fast enough to create afterimages), Supersonic with a gun (Used a gun to shoot Dio Brando) | High Hypersonic ( Can stop an attack from Dio Brando, who's weaker self can tag Jotaro Kujo's Star Platinum, who's weaker self was able to stop time to dodge an attack from Josuke Higashikata's Crazy Diamond, who is able to block tank fire and bullets from Bad Company which was calculated at these speeds) | High Hypersonic (Faster than before. Able to grab roses before Dio Brando could react)

Defeated Bruford, who completed the 77 Rings challenge that has only been completed by five knights, which requires those who partake in it to fight seventy seven knights in a row while having to carry more weight each battle. Bested Dio Brando in combat. Jonathan is also a promising archeology graduate who attended a high class university. Was able to discover a large amount of information of the Stone Mask)
