Pegasus Seiya (Heaven Chapter ~ Overture)
“ | Are the Gods truly such grandiose beings? Before the Gods, are humans truly insignificant beings? But we mortals are always giving our best to live our lives to the fullest. You think you deserve to be a God? When instead of protecting us, you laugh at those who fight to survive? To bring forgiveness... And to care for humanity... Is this not the purpose of the Gods? Saori is always willing to share her life with us... She believes in us! ... HOW CAN YOU CALL YOURSELF A GOD IF YOU HAVE NO LOVE FOR HUMANITY? IF THIS IS WHAT GODS TRULY ARE, THEN I DON'T NEED ANY OF YOU! | „ |
~ Seiya to Apollo |
Background
Pegasus Seiya (天馬星座の星矢, Pegasasu no Seiya), also known as simply Seiya (星矢, Seiya) is the titular main protagonist of the Saint Seiya manga and anime series, written and illustrated by Masami Kurumada. Seiya is one of the Goddess Athena's 88 Saints, powerful warriors who fight using their bodies as weapons, defending the Earth from any evil that may threaten it. Being the one chosen by the Pegasus constellation, Seiya is one among the 52 Bronze Saints.
This version of Seiya is from the anime film, Saint Seiya: Heaven Chapter ~ Overture, an alternate continuity to the main Saint Seiya universe, taking place directly after the Hades Arc. In it, Seiya remains underneath the curse of Hades' Sword after he was stabbed by it at the end of the Hades Arc. Due to the Saints continuously rising up against the Gods, Athena has been replaced as Earth's guardian by Artemis, the Goddess of the Moon.
Seiya awakens from his coma and sets off to find Athena in order to save her, as her blood is slowly running out. Once it does, Earth will be completely overtake by the Gods of Olympus. Along his way, Seiya battle against the Angels, three powerful warriors sent from Olympus, slowly gaining back more and more of his Cosmo as he fights. Once he reaches Athena, he's able to expel the curse from his body.
Apollo, the God of the Sun, then descends onto the Earth, engaging in a duel with Seiya. Seiya during the fight awakens the Ninth Sense and his Pegasus Cloth upgrades itself to a higher level. While Seiya does not win, he is able to land a direct hit on Apollo. It was revealed that Apollo was in fact, a benevolent God, and erases the memories of Seiya being a Saint, in order to give him and Athena better lives.
It is speculated that Seiya would have regained his memories in a later part of the Heaven Chapter saga, which was intended to be a trilogy. However, the project was cancelled due to various complications, and the Heaven Chapter ~ Overture film was delegated as an alternate continuity rather than a direct sequel to the Saint Seiya series.

Shiryu had previously fought against several Gold Saints, so the Specters should each scale.) | High Multiverse level (Fought against and scarred Apollo, who was stated to be astronomically higher than Athena in strength. Intelligence: As one of the five Bronze Saints who defend Athena, Seiya is incredibly gifted. Having trained in the Sanctuary, a place where Soldiers trained day and night for hours on end in order to become Saints, Seiya is an expert in hand-to-hand combat. While fighting, he can analyze his opponent's fighting style, strengths, techniques and weaknesses. He's consistently been able to pick apart special techniques and completely nullify them, even if he's only seen them once. Seiya's skills would continuously grow, eventually allowing him to fight against various opponents that had far more experience in comparison to him, notably the Gold Saints and the various Gods that Seiya has fought against. However, Seiya can be impatient and reckless at times, and never really recieved any kind of formal education from Sanctuary, and lacks knowledge in many academic areas. However, thanks to Sanctuary training, he does have a legitimate grasp on human biology, astronomy and can speak Greek, giving him plenty of knowledge in other areas.
Powers and Techniques
All previous abilities to a greater extent, Matter Manipulation, Metaphysics Manipulation (Soul Manipulation; Seventh Sense users can destroy matter below the level of Quarks. Causing damage to Gold Cloths can only be done by breaking the matter that exists below Quarks. Gold Saints regularly battle against each other, and combatants shown to be equal or above the Gold Saints can damage their Gold Cloths. Gold Saints like Cancer Deathmask can destroy twenty billion souls all once. or Capricorn Shura cut twenty billion souls at once. Virgo Shaka's own Power of Ohm can also affect over twenty billion souls. The attacks of Gold Saints can reach temperatures over one million degrees Fahrenheit.), Extrasensory Perception (With the five normal senses, the Sixth Sense, and the Seventh Sense.)
All previous resistances, and Resistance to Matter Manipulation, Metaphysics Manipulation (Soul Manipulation), Mind Manipulation (The Seventh Sense allowed the Bronze Saints to overcome many of the Gold Saints' abilities, as well as the Gold Saints themselves.), Illusions (The Seventh Sense allows Saints to perfectly perceive their environment.), Dream Manipulation, Perception Manipulation, Life Manipulation (By using the Seventh Sense, Saints become completely aware of their own surroundings, even if the five basic senses of humans have been removed from them, and even if one's own human brain is shut off.), Cold Energy Manipulation (Seventh Sense users and Gold Cloths freeze at Absolute Zero.), Existence Erasure, Improved resistance to Electricity Manipulation (Users of the Seventh Sense are completely immune to 10,000 volts.), Nothingness Manipulation.
All previous abilities, Regeneration (Mid-Godly. Saints with the Eighth Sense can have their soul destroyed and can still return. Users of the Eighth Sense can create a completely new body for themselves after it has been completely destroyed), Incorporeality (Can exist as his Soul on its own.), Extrasensory Perception (With the Eighth Sense.)
All previous resistances, and Resistance to Death Manipulation and Law Manipulation (The Underworld will kill anyone who is alive that enters it, but users of the Eighth Sense are completely unaffected by this. The Eighth Sense allows users to overcome the very laws of the Underworld set by Hades himself.), Acausality and Space-Time Manipulation (Through Athena's Divine Ichor., Sense Manipulation, Mind Manipulation, Paralysis Inducement, Life Manipulation and Statistics Reduction (Was able to stay in the presence of several Gods. Just the mere presence of Gods can disable the Six Senses. Gods radiate a divine aura that can cause fear in those around them. It will also force those to obey their commands. This aura can also paralyze and drain the life-force of those around them, as well as causing all of their stats to be reduced to zero.), Existence Erasure (Survived in the Hyperdimension, which previously destroyed corporeal beings' souls, erasing them completely.)
All previous abilities, Regeneration (High-Godly), Resurrection, Conceptual Manipulation and Immortality (Type 8) (Has the Ninth Sense, a Sense that normally only Gods would be able to access. Gods can regenerate from a concept that they embody, due to the Ninth Sense. However, other Gods with the Ninth Sense have returned from being erased from existence. Hades, the God of the Underworld, had the Underworld destroyed, yet he returned in Episode G - Assassin, thus granting him this kind of Regeneration. Seiya should have this as well, due to being comparable by the time of Episode G - Assassin.).
All previous resistances.
Equipment
- Pegasus Bronze Cloth: Seiya's main Cloth that he goes into battle with. Representing the Pegasus constellation, it has been upgraded many times over the years due to him being in constant battle with it. In this movie, it transformed into an even further state than before, the New Pegasus Bronze Cloth. This form allowed him to fight against Apollo, the God of the Sun, who previously was stated to be astronomically stronger than Athena. It is unknown if he can still transform the Bronze Cloth into the Pegasus God Cloth.
Other
Weaknesses: Seiya is quite impulsive and brash at times. He can sometimes rush headfirst into situations without having a complete grasp on the situation. He never received much of a formal education, so he is a bit lacking in certain academic areas. However, many of these negative traits lessened over time as Seiya grew older, as he was able to improve himself over the years.
Notable Techniques
-
Pegasus Ryu-Sei Ken
-
Pegasus Rolling Crush
-
Pegasus Sui-Sei Ken
- Pegasus Ryu-Sei Ken (Pegasus Meteor Fist): Seiya's signature technique. Seiya elevates and burns his Cosmo, releasing an innumerable amount of energy-powered punches from his right fist, firing blasts of Cosmo energy at his opponent. It gets faster every single time Seiya uses it, as he continuously tries to perfect it every time.
- Pegasus Rolling Crush: Seiya grabs his opponent from behind, surrounding both him and his opponent in a veil of Cosmo. Seiya then jumps up at high speeds and pile-drives his enemy headfirst into the ground at similar speeds, causing massive damage.
- Pegasus Sui-Sei Ken (Pegasus Comet Fist): Seiya's most powerful attack. Rather than firing off many punches from his fist, Seiya focuses all of his Cosmo into one singular punch. This "Comet" is then fired at his opponent, inflicting heavy damage. In this continuity, this was the attack used to scar Apollo.
Note: This version of Seiya is from an alternate continuity where the events of Saint Seiya: Next Dimension and Saint Seiya: Episode G - Assassin did not occur, instead having the events of Heaven Chapter ~ Overture take place directly after the Hades Arc. As such, in addition to the new hax that he gains from the film, he should have all of the hax that he received in the previous Saint Seiya arcs, with the exception of the abilities given by the Sagittarius Gold Cloth and the Pegasus God Cloth, as he has neither in this film.
