"Mature Content"
This character or verse has mature themes and concepts, thus those of young age are ill-advised to look through these.

Background

Pumpkin is a secret character in Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. The character can be unlocked by completing Joachim Mode. Pumpkin also appears as an Innocent Devil in Castlevania: Curse of Darkness and Castlevania: Labyrinth of Love.

Pumpkin wields a unique sub-weapon, aptly named after itself. Unusually, this sub-weapon bypasses Death's defenses, making it the only one in Castlevania: Lament of Innocence that can be effectively used against him. True to the tradition of secret characters in Koji Igarashi's Castlevania games, Pumpkin is designed with a comedic twist—it has exceptionally low health yet possesses extraordinary super-strength, blending humor with its formidable power.

Appearance

The Pumpkin Innocent Devil represents the base form of the optional Pumpkin-Type family. While it has the potential to evolve into various forms, it remains notably weak, even when leveled extensively. Its primary benefit lies in the significant stat boost it provides to Hector, making it a valuable support companion despite its limited combat prowess.

Powers and Techniques

Is a Creature of the Night, which gives:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics (Even the smallest creatures of the night can destroy a bridge[20], one of Dracula's bats easily destroyed a stone ground block[21]), Intimidation (Creatures of the nights appearances can cause one to have their body's cells cry out in terror[22]), Immortality (Ageless; The biggest hindrance to humans when attempting to accomplish something is their limited lifespans, a limitation that cannot be overcome, however, dwellers of the darkness do not apply to the laws of the human world, ignoring such limitations[23]. Immortal Metaphysical Aspect; Creatures of the Night can continue to exist even as a spirit and use their spirit form to form bodies out of inanimate material around them[24]), Acausality (Causality Immunity; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[25]. With their souls being completely free from time[26]. The biggest hindrance to humans when attempting to accomplish something is their limited lifespans, a limitation that cannot be overcome, however, dwellers of the darkness do not apply to the laws of the human world, ignoring such limitations[27]), Free Will (Creatures of the Night do not follow the hand of God and instead choose of their own free will[28]), Empowerment (Creatures of the night are empowered by the night[29], becoming stronger when it's night time[30]), Evolution (Creatures of chaos can inherit evil natures[31] awakening into stronger enemies with new abilities and less weaknesses[32]), Resurrection (Self-Resurrection; Creatures of chaos can be brought back to life from the power of hate[33]. This has also been shown with slain heads reviving as an angry wraith[34]), Regeneration (Mid-Godly overtime; Even the castle from Castlevania is a Creature of Chaos, [35] where they are always rebirth from Chaos with each rebirth, the creatures takes a new form[36], with this state being referred to as a "regeneration cycle"[37]), Invisibility (Creatures of Chaos possess a natural aura of darkness, which makes one unable to see those with an aura of darkness by the naked eye[38]), Time Manipulation (Passive; All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[39]), Darkness Manipulation & Subjective Reality (Creatures of chaos very existence causes dark powers to flow beyond the control of the Elgos' grimoires, due to them collecting documented information on Dracula and his castle. Causing their power to materialize in the real world in the form of monsters[40]. With the real world and world of grimoires being one and the same[41]), Text Manipulation & Plot Manipulation (Passive; Creatures of the night's dark powers allowed them to rewrite the Grimoires to strengthen their dark powers greatly[42]. It is noted by Lucy that the "vital soul" of a monster is the cause of the grimoire chaos[43]. Their vital souls are causing the grimoires contents to be overwritten changing history to things such as Jonathan Morris is now at a disadvantage in battle[44], or Charlotte fading from existence due to them messing with the history of the Grimoires[45], Maria starting to fade because Richter's history is being rewritten[46], where if the contents of the book change the creatures magic will keep growing and eventually overflow into reality, causing the grimoire to fall into chaos and even more monsters materializing into the real world[47]. The text alterations also make the monsters stronger[48]. With the real world and world of grimoires being one and the same[49]), Law Manipulation (Creatures of Chaos can alter grimoires, which do not adhere to the laws of reality[50]), Power Modification (Creatures of the night alterations of the Grimoire can greatly limit the powers of those far stronger than them, such as Jonathan Morris' power being limited due to the alterations[51]. The Chaos of the Grimoire destabilized the magic of the others[52]).

Resistance to Ice Manipulation & Absolute Zero (All enemies in Castlevania III: Dracula's curse can eventually break out of being frozen from Sypha's ice magic[53]. Along with this to protect against ice attacks in series, one normally wears rings that help them resist against absolute zero[54]), Time Manipulation (All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[55], with their souls being completely free from time[56]. With time in Castlevania being so potent that not even eternity can withstand time[57], along with even artificial life being subject to the laws of time[58]. Some creatures of chaos are immune to time stop, normally being boss-level creatures[59]), Fate Manipulation (All immortal beings disrupt the flow of time according to Aeon[60], with their souls being completely free from time[61], with fate being a truth wound by time[62])

Several hundred years have passed with battles with the [dark lord] Dracula.
When suddenly, an end to it all has been foretold. 1999----- Thanks to the power of a clan in Japan, Dracula’s castle was sealed inside a [solar eclipse] to disappear forever.
However, in this world, there is no such thing as forever. [They] had understood that Dracula’s regeneration cycle ought to have ended. Indeed, people have prepared for this but will it still exist? The castle is the symbol of the chaos within humans and as long as people exist, it will not be completely sealed.

  82. Akumajo Dracula: Kabuchi no Tsuisoukyoku "Those scythes constructed by magic did not turn towards Olrox or Michelle, every scythe then gathered near the youth’s body.
Then, those numerous blades made from magic overlapped with each other and with a powerful atrocious magic constructed a Death scythe in Death’s arm.
“This false castle……You shall fall into chaos as a thing that denies the existence of the [lord]……[death] shall pass judgment on your sins!”
Sensing the overwhelming existence of [death], Olrox again realized that the youth in front of him is [Death]------laughed out loud.

The youth had more than 28 holes penetrating his limbs and body. His heart is already starting to fail and he is desperately trying to say something amidst the darkness.
    “Only…… protect…… you……-----“
When he said those words he must say, the man’s soul already left his body-----becoming one of the floating spirits that wander the halls of the castle.
    However-----
    Fate did not allow it.
For those people who are involved with the demon castle, even the loneliness of death seemed half hearted-----
The man’s soul is pierced by a small scythe that flew in from somewhere. That scythe did not exist physically. It was a diabolic blade created by some magic and possessed a strong soul."
