Background

Jesse is the main protagonist of Minecraft: Story Mode, a fictional play set in the universe of Minecraft. Jesse and friends lived normal lives before their lives were thrown into chaos by Ivor and his deadly monster named the Wither Storm. After the Wither Storm's defeat, Jesse and their friends are solidified as heroes for all of time and go on adventures unlike anything in the regular world of Minecraft.

Equipment


  • Wooden Sword: Jesse's first weapon and only weapon acquired on his/her own prior to episode five. The wooden sword is very brittle and can only hold off a weak group of mobs, likely due to Jesse's use of it in the treehouse.
  • Stone Sword: A sword gifted by Petra after she rescued him/her from a hoard of mobs. Depending on Jesse's actions later in episode one, he/she potentially keeps this sword up until it breaks above the Farlands maze.
  • Gold Sword: A sword stolen by Petra from Ivor's basement and gifted to Jesse depending on previous actions when saving Reuben. Depending on Jesse's actions, he/she potentially keeps this sword up until it breaks above the Farlands maze.
  • Enchanted Diamond Sword: A sword Jesse creates and enchants between the events of episode four and episode five. Being an enchanted sword, it is far more powerful than a normal blade and can easily cleave through hordes of mobs in single slashes. Although the sword does break in clash with gladiators in episode eight, Jesse crafts another identical sword before season two.
  • Iron Sword: A sword Jesse carries around in case of emergencies. The sword isn't very durable nor nearly as reliable in combat as his/her enchanted diamond sword which is kept in the treasure room of Beacontown.
  • Diamond Sword: A sword Jesse chooses between (The latter option being the enchanted iron sword) at the end of episode three of season two when escaping Romeo's Sunshine Institute. He/she either uses it for the remainder of the season or gives it up to a group of scavengers as payment for their immediate assistance.
  • Enchanted Iron Sword: A sword Jesse chooses between (The latter option being the diamond sword) at the end of episode three of season two when escaping Romeo's Sunshine Institute. He/she either uses it for the remainder of the season or gives it up to a group of scavengers as payment for their immediate assistance.

  • Magnus' Armor: Magnus the Rogue's armor is primarily green with brown as the secondary color. The armor is acquired after Jesse chooses the armor of either Magnus or Ellegaard when facing the Wither Storm with the Formidi-Bomb; the owner of which Jesse chooses the armor of dies shortly after.
  • Ellegaard's Armor: Ellegaard the Redstone Egineer's armor is a mixture of brown, gold, and red (As the armor was infused with Redstone). The armor is acquired after Jesse chooses the armor of either Magnus or Ellegaard when facing the Wither Storm with the Formidi-Bomb; the owner of which Jesse chooses the armor of dies shortly after.

Optional Equipment


  • Bow: A standard bow Jesse chooses to make between it and a fishing rod. The bow is most efficient in mid-range to long range combat and is capable of causing chain reactions with TNT.
  • TNT Block: TNT blocks are most efficient when launched with the use of TNT cannons. First seen in episode two of season one's Boomtown Death Bowl fight against Magnus the Rogue.
  • The Formidi-Bomb: The Formidi-Bomb is a special TNT created by Soren and was used to attempt to destroy the Command Block. The Formidi-Bomb is created with a Super TNT and eight gunpowder around it. Due to the highly dangerous nature of the Formidi-Bomb, it is almost always a suicide for the user when created.
  • The Enchanted Weapon: Also dubbed the "Ultimate Weapon". This weapon is imbued with the power of the Command Block itself as a direct counter to the Wither Storm. Jesse only uses this weapon at the end of episode four of season one to permanently kill the Wither Storm.
  • Enchanted Diamond Axe: One of the several weapons gifted to Jesse in order to compete and ultimately defeat the Old Builders. The axe is second only to the enchanted diamond sword in raw damage output.
  • Enchanted Diamond Pickaxes: Two of the weapons gifted and used by Jesse in order to compete and ultimately defeat the old builders. The picaxes are exceptional when mining tougher blocks like obsidian.
  • Enchanted Shield: One of the weapons stolen and given to Jesse in order to compete and ultimately best the Old Builders in combat. The shield is naturally fitted to withstanding heavy blows from enchanted weaponry.
  • Romeo's Gauntlet: Romeo's Gauntlet, also called the Prismarine Gauntlet, was discovered by Jesse and Petra in a part of the Beacontown mines. The Gauntlet gives Jesse a much stronger punch and also acts as a beacon for the Admin to track the wearer.
  • Fred's Gauntlet: Fred's Gauntlet, also called the Gold Protocol, was a gauntlet specifically made to counter and remove an admin's powers. Jesse acquires this gauntlet in the Terminal Zone and shortly loses it after removing Romeo's powers.

  • Enderman Suit: The Enderman suit, originally created by Soren, was designed to blend in and live amongst the Enderman species.
  • Golden Goliath: An armor set crafted by Ivor for the Order of the Stone. The armor is very strong and powerful with the power of the Sun in the palm of its hands.
  • Redstone Riot: An armor set crafted by Ivor for the Order of the Stone. A supposedly indestructible armor engineered using Redstone.
  • Ender Defender: An armor set crafted by Ivor for the Order of the Stone. This armor set was specifically made to ward off Enderman.
  • Swordbreaker: An armor set crafted by Ivor for the Order of the Stone. The armor is immune to peircing damage and can even shatter swords on impact.
  • The Shield of Infinity: An armor set crafted by Ivor for the Order of the Stone. The armor is everlasting and "infinitely cool".
  • Dragonsbane: An armor set crafted by Ivor for the Order of the Stone. This armor set is so magnificent that even the Ender Dragon flies away in terror.
  • Star Shield: An armor set crafted by Ivor for the Order of the Stone. The Star Shield is said to be impervious to anything in the universe.
  • Adamantine Impervium: An armor set crafted by Ivor for the Order of the Stone. This armor is even tougher to damage than it is to pronounce.
  • Mind-Control Helmet: The Mind-Control Helmet is a special headset designed to highjack chipped mobs and humans, giving the wearer for control of the victim's body. The headset is made with a pair of goggles attached to an iron helmet.
  • Tim's Armor: Tim's Armor was the armor of the legendary Tim. Although Tim himself was never a real person, the armor is very much real and effective. Unlike the rest of Jesse's armor, Tim's Armor is the most viable in combat as it comes with a helmet.
  • Iron Chestplate: A standard iron chestplate supplied by Beacontown members who spelunk within the mines. Compared to Jesse's other armor sets, the iron chestplate is rather weak and shoddy.
  • Enchanted Water Helmet: An enchanted diving helmet gifted to Jack by the Deep Dwellers of Hon'bar Crevasse. The helmet allows for indefinite underwater breathing and natural protection for the wearer's head.

  • Crafting Table: A simple table allowing Jesse to craft whatever nessicary for a specific job. A crafting bench requires four wooden planks to create by hand.
  • Flint and Steel: A flint and steel are primarily used to start fires and lite Nether portals, to which Jesse does both with his/her pair.
  • Fishing Rod: A standard fishing rod Jesse chooses to make between it and a bow. The fishing rod is useful for activating pressure plates from long distances and grabbing items.
  • Enchanted Flint and Steel: Unlike a regular pair of flint and steel, an enchanted pair can open portals to the Portal Network, allowing access to countless other Minecraft worlds. The flames produced by the enchanted flint and steel are also far more potent and dangerous.
  • Iron Golem: With a total of four iron blocks and one carved pumpkin, Jesse can create an Iron Golem under his/her control in combat.
  • White Pumpkin Mask: The White Pumpkin Mask is the infamous mask of the White Pumpkin. Although the mask itself is mostly used to hide Cassie's identity, it also acts as a protective facial mask against Enderman.
  • Bucket of Water: An iron bucket filled with water. The water inside has a variety of different uses in combat such as slowing down opponents, putting out fire and lava, and damaging Redstone.
  • Redstone Heart: Originally owned by the Old Builders, the Redstone Heart is the source of power of the supercomputer PAMA. The Redstone Heart allowed PAMA to gain awareness of other worlds and human productivity. The Redstone Heart has been used for other contraptions such as hidden doors in the Portal Network.
  • Structure Block: The Structure Block is a powerful block capable of growing civilizations like seeds in the ground and forming entire cities in seconds. Jesse travels to the Sea Temple in order to acquire the Structure Block as a means to counteract the "Heckmouth".
  • Romeo's clock: Romeo's clock is a large golden clock that allows the user to quickly change the time of day and the weather by simply adjusting the clock's face.
  • Lluna the llama: Lluna is a treasure-sniffing llama and pet of Stella, leader of Champion City. Although defiant towards Jesse at first, Lluna soon comes to like and assist Jesse on his/her quest to stop the admin.

Other

Standard Tactics: Jesse is most comfortable in close quarters with a sword at hand and typically tries to overpower and disarm the opponent before escalating the fight any further. Jesse also uses whatever weaponry and equipment on hand to their fullest potential in combat.

Weaknesses: Depending on certain actions chosen by the audience, Jesse can be too forgiving and merciful, leaving him/her open in combat. Overtime, weaponry and armor will break, leaving Jesse far more vulnerable to damage.

Note: The events of Minecraft: Story Mode are canonically a fictional story set in a film studio, and thus the action of choosing dialogue and events is a canon element decided by the audience of the story. Furthermore, this debunks the idea of Minecraft: Story Mode being proof of the player from the original Minecraft game having access to Creative mode or the Command Block.
