Enoch

From The Codex
"Mature Content"
This character or verse has mature themes and concepts, thus those of young age are ill-advised to look through these.
...Who… Who are you? Purify? But that’s ridiculous! Nothing justifies this drastic measure! It was the Queen who sent you, wasn’t it? Obviously, it was the Queen. It must have been her. Be it as it may, I refuse! Monstrous? Horrible factory? This is my fortress of happiness, my defence against the Spectres! The people here were happy, before the phantoms arrived. Incidentally, I still don’t understand why the dead are disappearing. Well, yes. The phantoms. They are the souls of dead people… Has that thought never occurred to you? It’s only logical… Of course not. I’m Enoch, the guardian of Zone 3. My role, like that of all guardians, consists of modeling the energy sent by the Queen Mother to shape a solid context. I am the living engine of Zone 3. The Queen relies on us to make living spaces for people. We are like little gods, drawing from the infinite power of the sun to sculpt our worlds into the nothingness. Ahaha, I love that metaphor. Yes, like gods… Precisely. Certainly not! No matter your physical strength you can’t withstand my excess weight! Ahaha, fear me like the menacing shadow of your imminent extinction!
~ Enoch to The Batter

Background

Enoch is the Guardian of Zone 3, as well as the Director of Vesper and the Sugar Factory.

Like the other Guardians, Enoch uses a crass method of controlling his Elsen. Enoch provides each Elsen with sugar in small, consistent rations. Sugar is described by one of the Elsen as "the most important element", stating that without sugar, the mental health of all Elsen would deteriorate, eventually transforming them into Burnt. However, this is not necessarily the case, as sugar is not seen in any of the other Zones, and no other Elsen outside of Zone 3 seems to display signs of the substance's effect. Sugar is observed to have addictive effects on the Elsen, as several of them display addictive tendencies within their dialogue in addition to their already existent neurotic disposition. Certain posters within Zone 3 allude to cases of the Elsen sneaking sugar with them off to their beds in an attempt to hoard it. In one particular moment, the Batter encounters Elsen actually fighting and defeating numerous spectres in a surprisingly uncharacteristic way for the average Elsen, only for it to come forth that the effect of sugar has some strong side effects including increased hostility and violence, even from the overly timid Elsen.

The production of sugar is shown to involve burning the corpses of Elsen. Enoch has stated that burning these bodies produces Spectres, which may relate to the "Burnt" enemies that are formed from Elsen. He encourages Elsen to befriend or ignore the Specters that roam around with the use of misleading posters, which makes it easy for the Spectres to kill them and increase sugar production.

In the Room, the Batter encounters an entity called The Big Mister, which appears to be a version of Enoch before the events which resulted in his becoming of a Guardian. The Big Mister is a very jolly, patient person, completely contrary to the personality of Enoch. When the Batter meets him, he finds that The Big Mister is caught in a sinkhole; The Big Mister begs The Batter to help him out and gives him the promise that he will be rewarded with cakes if he helps. Giving the orchid book to The Bird will prompt him to summon many birds, which lift The Big Mister out of the hole he is trapped in. The Big Mister is exceedingly thankful, telling the Batter he will "bake [him] those cakes," and that he will "drown [him] in an ocean of sweets". This could be a reason as to why Enoch produces sugar in his Zone.

General Information

Name: Enoch

Origin: OFF

Sex: Male

Age: Unknown

Classification: Boss

Species: Unknown

Occupation: Zone 3 Guardian, Zone Guardian

Status: Deceased (Was purified by The Batter)

Alignment: Lawful Evil (Zone Guardians are corrupted inspectors of their zones, meant to take out phantoms though Dedan in specific interacts with unjust cruelty towards his subjects)

Codex Statistics

Tier: At least 8-C, likely Far Higher. 6-C with Energy Manipulation

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: At least Building level (Noted by Dedan that no one is capable of fighting phantoms asides from The Queen's Royal Officers, which would make it where no Elsen can fight them, with Elsen that reach this large. Naturally reaches this size), likely Far Higher (He is noted to be far too strong by Zone 3 Batter though it’s unknown if Batter has reached his post-Zone 3 strength by this point). Island level with Energy Manipulation (Is the creator of Zone 3, which are described as islets, specifically notes he draws infinite power from the sun)

Durability: At least Building level, likely Far Higher

Striking Strength: At least Building Class, likely Far Higher

Lifting Strength: Unknown

Travel Speed: Unknown (Due to his sheer size, he could potentially move faster then the average human), Speed of Light in the nothingness (Stated to be able to travel in the nothingness at the speed of light)

Combat Speed: Superhuman (Can tag The Batter)

Reaction Speed: Superhuman

Stamina: Low

Range: Standard Melee, likely Higher with Competences, Kilometers with abilities (Created Zone 3, which like other zones should be the size of an islet)

Intelligence: Genius (Naturally the ruler of his zone, the only Guardian asides from The Judge who was able to figure out the true nature of the Spectres. Should be around the same intelligence as The Batter. The Batter was someone who could apparently solve all of the puzzles in the game easily but chose to have The Player figure it out themselves. These puzzles include puzzles that require one to read the Read Me or find hidden numbers and meanings behind various locations. This also include puzzles like finding the entrance to Dedan’s office, which according to a Elsen has never been found. The Judge notes Batter’s mastery of battle borders on brilliancy)

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Genius Intelligence, Enhanced Senses (Can still attack enemies while under the blinded status effect), possible 4th Wall Awareness (In the French version of OFF he says to Batter that he will meet a “Game Over” which implies he’s aware that he’s in a game), Non-Standard Interaction (Metaphysical Interaction; Should be comparable to other Zone Guardians and Batter who can harm and kill specters, undead ghost, and can harm nonexistent enemies within purified zones. Abstract Interaction; Can imbue his attacks with abstract ideas. Should be comparable to Batter who can harm and kill abstract specters and speech bubbles), Conceptual Manipulation, Linguistic Manipulation, Information Manipulation, Text Manipulation, Space-Time Manipulation, Reality Warping, Matter Manipulation, Creation, Energy Manipulation, Elemental Manipulation & Pocket Reality Manipulation (All Zone Guardians created their zones, which are pocket realities sculpted from the energy given by The Queen it also contains it's own space and time as it's separate from the other zones from the nothingness, a place outside of space-time. Created a secret element that the other Zones did not know about. Zone guardians would have also created and have their energy tied to the concepts of their world which upon Batter killing them, it erases areas to the extent that they no longer have names and are replaced with “???” along with books and signs being unreadable, and color along with everything being gone), Size Manipulation (Can grow into massive sizes with half of his body reaching 10 meters), Status Effect Inducement, Statistics Reduction (With “Dramatic Crescendo”, lowers a targets Competence), Empathic Manipulation (With “Dramatic Irony”, inflicts the furious status effect), Poison Manipulation (With “Law of Causation”, can inflict the poison status effect), Teleportation & Dimensional Travel (Should be comparable to the other zone guardians who can teleport directly into the nothingness and back to their zones).

Resistance to Madness Manipulation (Does not go insane due to lack of sugar, which is directly stated to make people go mad without it), Metaphysics Manipulation (Soul Manipulation; Can take attacks from Batter and his Add-Ons), Spatial Manipulation (Can take attacks under the plastic element), Nothingness Manipulation, Conceptual Manipulation, Linguistic Manipulation, Information Manipulation, & Text Manipulation (Can travel in the nothingness, a non-existent realm outside of space-time. His existence is what stops Batter’s purification of a zone, which which upon his death zones he erases to them to an extent that the names for areas get re-named “???”, along with books, and posters becoming unreadable. It is even noted that the color and everything is gone), Metal Manipulation (Can take attacks from the metal attribute. Should be able to like The Judge walk around in a purified zone where metal no longer exists, which it was stated without metal there would be no way to walk without sinking into the ground), Organic Manipulation (Can take attacks from the meat attribute)

Equipment

None notable

Notable Techniques

  • Double Attack: A heavy-hitting double physical attack.
  • Dramatic Crescendo: Lowers an enemies Competence.
  • Dramatic Irony: A special attack that can also afflict the enemy with Furious, enraging the enemy into abandoning all strategy and relentlessly focusing on normal physical attacks.
  • Trigger Element: An exceptionally powerful single-target attack.
  • Law of Causation: A special attack that can also afflict the enemy with Poison, continuously dealing them damage that ignores their armor and durability.
  • Climax: A special attack that inflicts notable damage to all enemies. Only uses this attack when sufficiently low on HP.

Other

Standard Tactics: Enoch will use different competences or attacks as he sees fit, if his enemy tries to run away he will chase after them, which would be a detriment to him as it would weaken him.

Weaknesses: Due to Enoch’s weak stamina he grows weaker after a bit due to running around for too long.

Note: A lot of OFF’s explanations and concepts are very limited and require many different interpretations, thus making it difficult to completely ascertain what certain elements mean, thus using what one can piece together in game along with Mortis’ statements, we have supplied the following profile.
