Articles About Chronoa
Versions Dragon Ball Xenoverse - Dragon Ball Hereos
Using a Time Machine is a mortal sin against the cosmic balance. And abusing the natural flow of time could hold serious repercussions for the fabric of reality itself. And because of you and your actions, despite your noble intentions, this could spell the end of the universe as we know it if left unchecked. If you want to atone for this, you and I are going to work very closely, Trunks.
~ Chronoa's warning to Trunks in Xenoverse
Gods don't lie, you know!

Background

Chronoa, more widely recognized as the Supreme Kai of Time, is a divine being entrusted with the immense responsibility of safeguarding and supervising the proper flow of time throughout the entirety of the cosmos. Her role involves ensuring that the timeline remains stable, preventing distortions, anomalies, and disruptions that could threaten reality itself. First referenced in Dragon Ball Online under the title of the “Lord of Time,” she has since grown into a prominent and highly influential figure within the Dragon Ball Xenoverse series, where her actions, wisdom, and interventions play a vital part in protecting history from those who would seek to alter it for their own purposes.

This dropdown contains the synopsis of Chronoa’s story. Read at your own risk as you may be spoiled otherwise!

Chronoa’s origins stretch back more than 75,000,000 years into the past. In her early life, she was an ordinary Kai, with the esteemed position of Supreme Kai of Time being held by her predecessor, Aeos. Around 75,000,000 years before Age 850, she found herself in direct competition with the ambitious Mechikabura for this sacred role. The contest required each candidate to nurture and raise a Tokitoki egg, a divine task that would determine who was worthy to oversee the flow of time. Over the course of this trial, Chronoa discovered Mechikabura’s hidden, sinister ambitions. Recognizing the danger he posed, she ultimately succeeded in sealing him away within the Crack of Time, thereby claiming the position of Supreme Kai of Time for herself.

During this period, Chronoa had initially believed that the sorcerer Demigra was aiding her cause. In truth, he was secretly aligned with Mechikabura, working alongside his allies Putine and Gravy to undermine her. Eventually, their treachery came to light, leading to a direct confrontation. In the ensuing battle, Chronoa overcame the three of them, banishing them to the realm that would later be known as the Demon Realm. With her victory secured, she successfully raised Tokitoki into adulthood, which formally solidified her appointment as the Supreme Kai of Time.

Not long after ascending to this divine office, she faced yet another threat from the persistent Demigra. Amassing enough Kili to transform himself into a Demon God, Demigra attempted to seize both Tokitoki and the Time Nest itself in order to usurp Chronoa’s authority over time and space. However, her resolve and power proved superior. After a fierce struggle, she once again triumphed, sealing Demigra within the Crack of Time to ensure the stability of the temporal order.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse
In Age 850, Chronoa establishes Toki Toki City as the central headquarters for the Time Patrol, with Future Trunks and the rest of the patrol operating from there under her direction. Her first on-screen appearance occurs shortly after the newly recruited Future Warrior assists the Dragon Team in overcoming the corrupted versions of Nappa and Vegeta, who have been empowered by a sinister force. When Future Trunks voices his concern over the strange alterations to history, Chronoa arrives and explains that a pair of malicious time travelers is responsible for spreading the mysterious Dark Magic and inducing the dangerous Villainous Mode among various fighters from across the timeline.

She greets the Future Warrior with a lighthearted “hello,” presenting herself in a teasing, almost flirtatious pose as Trunks formally introduces her. However, the moment is abruptly interrupted when her pet, the divine bird Tokitoki, lands squarely on her head. Embarrassed and irritated, she snaps at Tokitoki for making her look ridiculous in front of the new recruit. She quickly recovers her composure and explains to the Warrior that Tokitoki is not only her constant companion but also her dearest friend. She then elaborates on the situation, sharing her knowledge of the time travelers’ interference.

Chronoa identifies the culprits as Towa, the cunning younger sister of Demon King Dabura, and Mira, a powerful artificial warrior of demonic origin whom Towa herself created. She reveals that they hail from the future version of the Demon Realm and have been traveling through history to harvest energy from formidable fighters. As she discusses the matter with Tokitoki in private moments, Chronoa briefly considers the possibility that someone else might be aiding them. She initially dismisses the thought that Demigra could be involved, believing him still sealed away. However, this assumption is shattered later on when the Future Warrior delivers a direct message from Demigra. The revelation leaves Chronoa unsettled, forcing her to confront the disturbing likelihood that her old enemy has indeed returned and is once again meddling with the flow of time.

Following Mira’s downfall, Chronoa is forced to intervene directly when she notices a dangerous magical seal branded on the Future Warrior’s right hand — a trap left by Demigra. Acting with remarkable speed, she expertly removes the mark, seals it away, and hurls it out of harm’s reach just as it detonates, saving both Trunks and the Warrior from certain death. Before she can catch her breath, Tokitoki urgently alerts her to the presence of Demigra within the Time Nest. When confronted, she boldly refuses Demigra’s demand to hand over Tokitoki, declaring that the Demon God deserves nothing more than to remain eternally imprisoned in the Crack of Time. Trunks’ sudden attack reveals that this “Demigra” is not the real one, but merely a magical projection, confirming her suspicion that the true Demon God remains trapped — for now. She then recounts to Trunks and the Warrior the dark history of Demigra, explaining her battle against him long ago and how she sealed him within the Crack of Time, urging them to act swiftly to ensure he cannot break free.

The urgency of the situation escalates when Demigra’s mirage materializes in the Time Vault and slips into a critical Time Scroll — one documenting the period “when Beerus, the God of Destruction, visited Earth.” Realizing the catastrophic danger if Beerus were to fall under Demigra’s influence, she commands Trunks and the Warrior to intervene immediately, warning that the universe itself could be annihilated. Fortunately, Beerus detects Demigra’s magical presence and only feigns being controlled, luring the Demon God into revealing himself. Once Demigra’s projection is dealt with, Chronoa greets Beerus and Whis when they arrive at the Time Nest to inquire about Demigra’s whereabouts. With careful diplomacy, she attempts to persuade Beerus to allow her and the Time Patrol to handle the matter themselves, and — to her relief — he agrees before departing. She quickly refocuses the group’s efforts, emphasizing that their mission to stop Demigra is far from over.

The crisis intensifies yet again when Trunks reports that Demigra has exploited the Dragon Balls to resurrect three of history’s deadliest threats — Frieza, Cell, and Kid Buu — enhancing their strength far beyond their original levels. Chronoa immediately orders Trunks to safeguard Tokitoki while dispatching the Future Warrior to confront the revived villains. Simultaneously, she gathers the Dragon Balls of Age 850 and summons Shenron, using the wish to contact Goku directly and inform him of the danger so that he can aid the Time Patrol. With Goku’s assistance, the revived enemies are eventually overcome. However, Demigra finally succeeds in breaking free from the Crack of Time, launching a full-scale assault on Toki Toki City. In the chaos, he manages to absorb Tokitoki into himself and takes control of Future Trunks, mocking Chronoa by calling her the “former” Supreme Kai of Time and sneering that her services are no longer of any use.

Despite the dire circumstances, Chronoa does not falter. When Demigra attempts to ensnare the Future Warrior under his control, Trunks — fighting through his injuries — strikes Demigra with a surprise sword attack. The distraction gives Chronoa the precious moment she needs to dispel the Demon God’s magic from the Warrior, preventing them from being forced to fight against her and Trunks. Her quick thinking not only saves the Warrior from corruption but also keeps the Time Patrol’s last hope intact in the battle against Demigra’s schemes.

Chronoa feels an immense wave of relief when Goku suddenly arrives on the scene using his Instant Transmission technique, materializing just in time to join the desperate battle against Demigra. Fighting side-by-side with the Future Warrior, Goku helps push Demigra to his limits, and together they manage to overpower him. However, the victory proves short-lived as Demigra, unwilling to be captured, slips away into the shadows. Wasting no time, Goku once again employs Instant Transmission, locking on to Demigra’s energy signature and teleporting himself, Chronoa, and the Warrior directly to the Demon God’s location. The group materializes inside the Time Vault, where they are confronted by the sight of a violent storm of corrupt, otherworldly energy tearing through the chamber. Demigra, reveling in his destructive intent, declares his plan to obliterate the Time Vault entirely.

Chronoa urgently tries to reason with him, warning that erasing history itself will ultimately destroy him as well. Her words, however, fall on deaf ears. Demigra, with a cruel smile, boasts that he has uncovered a means of surviving even the destruction of the universe and intends to fashion a new history under his complete control. As the battle intensifies, she watches in alarm as both Goku and the Future Warrior are overwhelmed and temporarily incapacitated by Demigra’s overwhelming magical power. Fortunately, the Warrior manages to seize a crucial opportunity — they activate a Time Scroll that contains a record of Demigra’s assault in Age 850, traveling back in time to provide earlier assistance to Goku and Chronoa before giving chase to Demigra. The Demon God flees to his former prison, the Crack of Time, knowing it lies beyond the normal flow of history and offers the only sanctuary from his own cataclysmic plan. This leaves Goku and Chronoa behind to contend with the massive sphere of condensed demonic energy Demigra has unleashed, which threatens to annihilate both the Time Vault and the entire universe. While the Warrior engages Demigra in the Crack of Time, Goku and Chronoa focus on neutralizing the energy sphere, buying enough time for the Warrior to finally defeat Demigra and bring the crisis to an end.

With the threat to the Time Vault averted thanks to Goku’s decisive intervention, Chronoa breathes a sigh of relief and expresses heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their tireless efforts in protecting history. She is especially pleased when the Future Warrior accepts Trunks’ invitation to continue serving as a full-fledged member of the Time Patrol. Before Goku departs, she warmly bids him farewell, telling him he is welcome to visit the Time Nest whenever he wishes. Some time later, she and Tokitoki are seen overseeing a training session in which Future Trunks and the Future Warrior test several new Time Patrol recruits. She watches with quiet amusement as the Warrior effortlessly defeats all four candidates in rapid succession, though both she and Tokitoki are momentarily startled when Trunks loudly scolds the Warrior for going too far. The tension quickly dissipates, and the group ends the session with shared laughter. If the Future Warrior speaks to Chronoa following Demigra’s defeat, she personally congratulates them, thanking them once more for safeguarding the timeline. With the immediate danger now behind her, she humorously remarks that she can finally indulge in being as relaxed — or “lazy” — as she wants without any guilt.

Second Ending
In the alternate version of the ending, Chronoa’s actions remain largely consistent with the original conclusion of events, though with some subtle differences in presentation. She is depicted tending to Future Trunks, carefully healing his injuries, while Goku is shown sitting nearby, observing the scene with casual interest. During this moment, the Future Warrior shares an unusual account with her, describing visions they experienced within the Crack of Time—astral-like projections of Goku and several other members of the Dragon Team appearing during their confrontation with Demigra. Chronoa initially reacts with playful skepticism, asking the Warrior if they are entirely certain they were not simply daydreaming. However, she follows this remark with a more serious explanation: the Crack of Time is an anomaly connected to countless different time periods and events, and because it technically should not exist within the normal flow of reality, occurrences within it cannot be judged by ordinary standards—nothing there is truly impossible or strange. Concluding the conversation, she tells the Future Warrior that she will consult the “scroll of ends and beginnings” at a later time in order to confirm what actually transpired during their final encounter with Demigra.

Moving into the following year, in Age 851, Chronoa’s responsibilities as Supreme Kai of Time become even more demanding. A sudden surge of dangerous time rifts begins to appear throughout Toki Toki City, threatening the stability of the timelines once again. Recognizing the growing threat, Chronoa takes decisive action by recruiting additional Time Patrollers to bolster the ranks of the Time Patrol. To improve the training process, she calls upon Elder Kai, enlisting his assistance in preparing new recruits for active duty. Over time, however, a peculiar rumor begins circulating throughout Toki Toki City, speculating on the true extent of the divine powers possessed by both Chronoa and Elder Kai. Rather than deny the gossip, the two deities opt to address it directly—by staging a demonstration of their abilities.

For her part, Chronoa selects the large dragon statue situated atop the Dragon Ball Pedestal as the centerpiece of her display. Channeling her divine magic, she successfully animates the statue, causing it to move as though it were a living creature. However, her immense power overshoots the intended effect: the statue not only gains lifelike movement but also grows dramatically in size, becoming a towering, mobile presence within the city. Unfortunately, this unintended consequence proves disastrous. Already under pressure from the instability caused by the multiple time rifts, Toki Toki City is unable to withstand the added disruption. The appearance of the massive dragon pushes the city’s fragile situation past the breaking point, ultimately resulting in its destruction.

Following this calamity, Chronoa takes it upon herself to oversee the reconstruction effort. She orders the city to be rebuilt under a new name—Conton City—using the ruins of Toki Toki City as its foundation. The animated dragon, no longer a threat, eventually settles high in the northern skies above the newly established Conton City, where it remains a permanent fixture of the skyline. Learning from the vulnerability exposed during Demigra’s attack, Chronoa and Elder Kai collaborate to erect formidable protective barriers around both Conton City and the Time Nest, ensuring they cannot be so easily targeted again. To further preserve order, Chronoa implements a series of strict regulations within Conton City, including a prohibition on the use of energy-based attacks in public areas. She also institutes a new licensing system, requiring all Time Patrollers to obtain an official Flying License before being allowed to fly within the city’s limits—a privilege typically reserved for the elite members of the Time Patrol. These measures mark a significant shift in Conton City’s governance, reflecting Chronoa’s increased determination to protect both the city and the timeline itself from any future threats.

Xenoverse 2
In Age 852, Chronoa continues to serve as the Supreme Kai of Time and overall leader of the Time Patrol, guiding its operations and ensuring the preservation of the proper timeline. She is still supported by Future Trunks and his long-time partner—the legendary Toki Toki City Hero who famously defeated the Demon God Demigra two years prior. Together, they remain vigilant protectors of history, correcting distortions and safeguarding the flow of time. However, due to the mounting number of disturbances and the sheer complexity of her divine duties, Chronoa finds herself increasingly occupied with high-level responsibilities that only the Supreme Kai of Time can fulfill. To manage the workload, she entrusts Elder Kai with many of the day-to-day functions of the Time Patrol, including training new recruits and overseeing routine operations.

Upon Elder Kai’s suggestion, Chronoa begins the search for fresh talent to bolster the Patrol’s ranks. Eventually, she recruits a promising new Time Patroller, tasking them with the critical mission of combating a dangerous resurgence of the Time Breakers—an organization known for manipulating and altering history to serve their own goals. These Time Breakers, along with their dangerous allies, have been strategically intervening in major events across different eras, empowering historical villains through the use of potent Dark Magic. This sinister enhancement gives these foes significant advantages in key battles, threatening to shift the course of history in their favor. To counter these alterations, Chronoa dispatches the newly recruited warrior to participate in pivotal battles throughout the ages, restoring the intended outcomes and ensuring that the proper timeline is maintained.

During these missions, Chronoa and Elder Kai monitor the situation from the Time Nest, maintaining constant communication with the Future Warrior. They provide real-time guidance and mission objectives, carefully analyzing each engagement to ensure the results benefit the Time Patrol and preserve the original historical flow. On certain occasions, Chronoa deems the stakes too high for the newcomer to handle alone, and thus assigns Future Trunks or the veteran Toki Toki City Hero to assist in the field. Conversely, there are times when the new recruit aids their more experienced predecessors, creating a cooperative dynamic that strengthens the Patrol’s overall effectiveness.

Parallel to these ongoing operations, Chronoa keeps a watchful eye over her beloved companion Tokitoki, who is in the process of producing a remarkable time egg. These rare and mystical eggs contain the potential to hold the time of an entirely new universe within them, making them invaluable—and highly sought after—artifacts. The emergence of this egg soon attracts the attention of the Time Breakers, who recognize its potential as a tool to revive the long-lost Demon Realm. Understanding the catastrophic consequences such a revival would bring, Chronoa and her allies take decisive action. Through the combined efforts of the Time Patrol, the Time Breakers’ plot to seize the egg is foiled, and the precious object remains safely under Chronoa’s care, preserving the stability of both the timelines and the wider multiverse.

Dragon Ball The Breakers
Trunks leads the survivors to the Time Nest to have them meet with the Supreme Kai of Time, however, one of the survivors falls through another time rift before they can meet her.

The Xenoverse 2 Future Warrior defeated final form Mira As she's the final opponent in the tournament, she should be superior to all the previous constestants, including Future Warrior, Son Goku, Xenoverse Trunks making her the second strongest warrior in Conton City, which makes her far beyond Semi Perfect Cell, who destroyed several islands with several blast). Varies: Skill with Strongest Charged Blast (Charged Blast have one focus all of their energy into one single point[10], putting the blasts power far beyond what their peak strength is[11], allowing them to destroy things they couldn't prior with their regular attacks[12], this also allows them to use charged attacks that can stop enemies far beyond their level, such as Tien Shinhan pushing back Semi-Perfect Cell with his Neo Ki-Ko-Ho[13], along with stopping an attack shot from Buu absorbed Gotenks[14]. Strongest charged blast can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[15], with blasts capable of[16] seriously damaging/destroying[17] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[18]. Charged Blast also rely heavily on emotional states for example Gohan not believing in himself[19] was having Cell overpower him in a beam clash[20]). Attack Speed: At most Relativistic

Reaction Speed: At most Relativistic (Far beyond 22nd Budokai Son Goku, who could dodge a mouth blast from Tambourine, which he used to tag the flying nimbus where even post King Kai training Goku used the flying nimbus to make it to the saiyans implying it is at least comparable to his flight speed by then, with Goku being capable of traveling over a million of kilometers in two days which results in these speeds)

Stamina: Superhuman+ (Chronoa's job consists of keeping a watch all of time-space, and fixing any disturbances in time and space, with this job never truly giving her a break)

Range: Standard Melee, Extended Melee with Holy Inscription (With Holy Inscription, makes clock hands from her arms), Interstellar with Ki Attacks (Ki attacks can reach out of the planet and to other planets. Powers and Techniques

Equipment

  • Potara: A special pair of earrings worn by those who hold the position of Supreme Kai that can allow two people to fuse or allow one to use Time Rings.
  • Scroll of Eternity: As the Supreme Kai of Time, Chronoa is responsible for maintaining the Time Scrolls that physically record history and had the ability to restore the original history once an alteration to the official history is fixed and can chose to leave in certain minor changes as long as it doesn't interfere with the original flow of events (such as Future Gohan choosing to die fighting the Androids after realizing he was fated to die upon meeting his student Time Patrol Trunks) though as shown by the Unknown History Saga this can lead to outside forces creating further alterations. She and the Time Patrol can also use the scrolls to review historical events, alterations to history, or the events that occur as a result of alterations to history.
  • Time Machine: Due to her knowledge of how time and space function gained as a result of her position and role as caretaker for Tokitoki, Chronoa knows how to construct Time Machines that do not produce time distortions that create alternate timelines. In the Xenoverse series, Chronoa uses this knowledge to teach Time Patrol Trunks and Future Bulma how to create temporally safe Time Machines that lack the design flaw of Future Bulma's original Time Machine design that inadvertently created time distortions that create alternate timelines (and allowed Goku Black to temporarily travel from Age 796 in Future Trunks' timeline to Age 780 in the main timeline via his Time Ring). While unauthorized use of Time Machines is a crime against nature and galactic law, Chronoa's authority over time means Time Patrol members are authorized to utilize such technology when Time Scrolls are not an option such as dealing with time fragment timelines created as a side effect of correcting history using the scrolls. Additionally, the historical use of Future Bulma's Time Machine is protected as Chronoa decided to leave its use by the Dragon Team and Cell as part of the official history (as it played a key role in the creation of several official timelines and was instrumental in foiling the Zamases Project Zero Mortals in Age 796).

Notable Techniques

  • Flight: Chronoa is shown to be capable of using the technique to fly in Dragon Ball Heroes. She is also seen using the technique in the opening of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
  • Ki Blast: The most basic form of energy wave. Used by her Elite type cards in Dragon Ball Heroes and World Mission.
  • Godly ki: As a Supreme Kai and a god, Chronoa possesses the ability to utilize and sense godly ki.
  • Magic: Chronoa is capable of using magic and magically based techniques, as well as to counter/dispel other forms of magic such as Demigra's Dark Magic. Before she was Supreme Kai she was apparently already a skilled magic user as she was able to combat three wizards (Demigra, Gravy, and Putine) by herself.
  • Time Travel: Due to her position, Chronoa is able to freely travel through time.
  • Time Manipulation: As the Supreme Kai of Time, she is capable of manipulating and controlling time.
    • Timeline Erasure: She is also capable of erasing Alternate Timelines from the official history, though it is implied that she views this as an extreme measure as it would lead to the erasure of everyone inhabiting that alternate timeline, which is why she prefers to have the Time Patrol correct the change which allows Chronoa to restore the original unaltered timeline (though she can choose to allow certain minor alterations to remain).
    • Fusion Dance Time Limit Negation: In the Xenoverse series, Chronoa has the ability to negate the time limit of Metamoran fusions like Gotenks allowing them to remain fused as long as they want. However, this ability is limited to specific areas Chronoa has complete dominion over such as Toki Toki City, Conton City, the Time Nest, and certain training areas used by Patroller Academy as leaving them and entering an area not covered by Chronoa's time limit negation causes the fusion's inherent natural time limit to be restored.
  • Sealing Spells: Chronoa is shown to be quite proficient with sealing spells as she sealed Demigra inside the Crack of Time after his failed attempt to seize control of the Time Nest in 75 Million Before Age. She also uses a sealing spell to contain/counter Demigra's Self Destructing Majin Emblem inside as energy sphere allowing her to throw it away before it detonated.
  • Healing: As a Kai, Chronoa possesses the ability to rejuvenate anyone and restore them to full health instantly, even if they are on the brink of death. Chronoa uses this technique to heal Future Trunks' injuries sustained during his fight with the Future Warrior while under the control of Demigra's Dark Magic.
  • Kai Kai: In Dragon Ball Super, it is revealed that the Supreme Kai in every universe has the ability to instantly teleport to any other universe, including Zeno's Palace. Chronoa herself rarely utilizes this ability due to her workload of watching over the Time Vault and caring for Tokitoki.
  • 'Holy Inscription: One of her Super Skills in Xenoverse 2. She fashions energy in the shape of blade-like clock hands and slashes at her enemy and can attack up to four times via additional input & Ki. As Holy Inscription lands hits this will increase its hit counter which allows Holy Inscription to emit Kiai-based slashes. Holy Inscription's hit counter also has the added benefit of buffing some of Chronoa's skills.
    • Kairos Cannon: One of her Super Skills in Xenoverse 2. She conjures four green energy spheres which then launch at the opponent one after another after a set amount of time has elapsed. When upgraded via Holy Inscription, Chronoa can ready up to sixteen spheres.
    • Temporal Holy Ray: One of Chronoa's Super Skills in Xenoverse 2. She summons a clock-like sigil in front of her. When the minute clock hand finishes, it generates a powerful lance of energy. After using Holy Inscription, she can summon up to three more.
    • Godly Chronos Cannon: One of her Ultimate Skills in Xenoverse 2. She conjures a clock like sigil in front of her, tracing her arm along its path before it transforms into four orbs connected by an aetherial circle-like sigil. She can then fire off these orbs at any time of her choosing. Its power is enhanced by Holy Inscription's hit counter, though this causes the counter to reset.
  • Timespace Impact: One of her Ultimate Skills in Xenoverse 2. Chronoa fires a wave of energy at her opponent. If it connects, it entraps them while she forms orbs of light and darkness, mixing them together into a larger orb in front of her before shooting it at her target. If the opnening wave hits the enemy while Chronoa is not locked on, it will merely freeze the enemy in place for 5 seconds, although hefty damage can still be dealt to them.
  • Chaos Wall: Her Evasive Skill in Xenoverse 2. She summons a rainbow-colored wall of energy in front of her to block attacks before launching it at her opponent.
  • Maximum Charge: A variation of Full Power Charge used by Chronoa to charge ki. Appears as one of her Super Skills in Xenoverse 2. After she finishes charging, she will briefly perform her sideways Double-V pose.
    • Fighting Pose: Chronoa enjoys posing and will pose after she finishes charging ki via Maximum Charge in Xenoverse 2.
  • Inanimate Object Animation: As a divine being, Chronoa has the power animate inanimate objects such as the Dragon statue that become the Conton City Dragon. However, her control of this power is apparently not very good, as she causes the dragon to grow so large that it ends up destroying Toki Toki City. It is unclear if she actually breathes life into the said object (which could be related to her status as a Goddess of Creation) or simply animates it via her power.
  • Fiendishly Flavored Food: Chronoa is a notoriously terrible cook though she is blissfully ignorant of said fact believing her cooking is fit for the gods and ignores any attempts to criticize her cooking ability. Her cooking is so terrible that it can even give a Majin food poisoning and Goku was left debilitated by stomach cramps after eating some of Chronoa's Pudding. In Xenovese, Time Patrol Trunks notes to the Future Warrior her cooking is more terrifying than a Shadow Dragon and both suffers stomach cramps after eating a meal Chronoa made to celebrate their recent resolution of the Wormhole crisis in the GT Era. Her poor cooking ability was even named in Dokkan Battle where it appears as her Lord of Time Supreme Kai of Time card's Passive Skill which may stun all enemies for 2 turns (presumably to represent in-game the incapacitating effect of the food she makes).
    • Pudding: In Xenoverse 2, Chronoa made pudding to pacify Beerus after the Time Patrol's conflict with the Masked Saiyan and Mira spilled into Age 778 during Beerus' fight with Goku. The pudding itself can cause stomach cramps in mortals like Goku but only tastes horrible to a God of Destruction.

Standard Tactics: Chronoa as a kai overlooks timespace, while her battle strategies consist of using time related abilities along with hand to hand combat and ki attacks. She will also notably use purification spells when necessary.

Trivia

  • While she's usually referred to as "Supreme Kai of Time" in Xenoverse and Xenoverse 2, Old Kai calls her Chronoa in Xenoverse 2 in the Infinite History Saga.
  • Chronoa is one of the oldest Supreme Kais still living (being at least over 75 million years old) and one of the three Supreme Kais of Universe 7 known to have not been killed or absorbed by Kid Buu (due to her living in Time Nest to guard the Time Storage Vault).
    • According to Elder Kai, she is about 1000 years younger than him, and her appearance has not changed in 75 million years since he last saw her. He was originally excited at the thought of seeing her again when Chronoa asked him to help out the Time Patrol, though he reveals that he was disappointed when he discovered that her appearance had not changed at all in 75 million years.
Unused concept designs of Chronoa depicting her with an older more voluptuous appearance from the early development of Xenoverse
  • Several of Chronoa's concept designs depict her with an older more voluptuous appearance which would have been more in line with what Elder Kai would likely had envisioned. Presumably, Chronoa's current design was likely selected to contrast better with Towa's, as well as make Chronoa seem younger than she actually is. However, she is later shown able to transform into an adult form.
    • Additionally, one of her and Tokitoki's early concept designs is radically different from their later concept designs and final design. This design features her as a blue skinned adult female Supreme Kai.
      • Aeos somewhat resembles this early design as she is a blue skinned Supreme Kai of Time.
  • Her cooking is so terrible it drove Beerus insane and gave Goku a stomach cramp that stopped him from moving.
  • She is the only character in Xenoverse to refer to the Future Warrior with a feminine pronoun/terminology. During Buu Buu! Majin Buu Cutscene 4 she clearly refers to the Future Warrior with the feminine pronoun "Her".[242]
  • In Xenoverse, when you train with Gotenks and you talk to him, he'll say that he thinks Chronoa is cute and couldn't help but say yes when girls like her ask him for favors, indicating that she may have asked Gotenks to train the Future Warrior after she told him he was too young to join the Time Patrol.
  • She is the first Kai revealed to actually have a name other than her title, Chronoa. This name is likely based off Khronos/Chronos, the Greek god and personification of Time in pre-Socratic philosophy and his name is also the etymological root of several English terms relating to time such as chronology, chronometer, chronic, anachronism, and chronicle. The trend of Kais actually having names is later extended into Dragon Ball Super, starting with Zamasu and Gowasu from Universe 10 and continuing with the Supreme Kais from the other universes, as well as establishing that Shin, the World Tournament alias used by Universe 7's Eastern Supreme Kai, is, in fact, his real name.
  • In Xenoverse 2, Majin Time Patroller Kyume reveals she once asked Chronoa her type and reveals that Chronoa is attracted to wild, tough, and handsome older men that are also open-minded, almost like how she thought Bardock was "dreamy".
  • In Xenoverse 2, Chronoa's hairstyle appears as Custom Hair Option Type 24 for Saiyans and Earthlings. It also appears as a hairstyle option for Tekka if they are a female Offworlder in Dragon Ball Fusions.
  • Despite her rank, Chronoa is subordinate to Zeno/Future Zeno, their attendants, and the Grand Minister whom out rank her. It is implied in Xenoverse 2 that Future Zeno and his attendants were permitted to take up residence in the main timeline due to the simple fact that Future Zeno is beyond her authority, and she would not wish to upset him or Zeno whom Future Zeno befriended. Additionally, she may have empathized with Zeno's desire for a friend and equal as she had spent many years in the Time Nest alone with only Tokitoki to keep her company thus might understand Zeno's loneliness and Future Zeno had no place to go when the future world corrupted by Infinite Zamasu got erased. However, it is unknown if she fears them like the other gods do as she has yet to be shown interacting with any of them.

Codex Statistics Questions

Q: What about the planetary feats in Dragon Ball?

A: Planetary feats are normally done through their strongest charged blast, where they can gather ki to shoot out blast far beyond what the character is normally capable of[243], with blasts capable of[244] seriously damaging/destroying[245] the Earth along with completely obliterating the opponent[246], though they themselves are never capable of leaving this unscathed.

Frieza throws a destroy the planet death ball attack but it doesn't destroy the planet. Goku then interestingly notes the reason the planet didn't blow up is because Frieza was too scared of getting caught in the blast[247] . Vegeta's final flash is noted it's going to destroy the planet and Perfect Cell, who is beyond Vegeta, couldn't tank the blast and had to dodge it last second or it would've killed him[248]. Goku's kamehameha was going to destroy the earth and Cell cannot tank this blast, needing to regenerate[249]. Semi-Perfect Cell explosion was consistently noted it was going to destroy the planet and Gohan and it killed Goku[250]. Ultimate Gohan dies to an attack that destroys the earth, his guard was up too since this was when he was fighting Super Buu[251]. Kid Buu shoots a blast trying to destroy the planet, with Vegeta noting he's going to take himself out with it if he lets it off[252]. In Dragon Ball GT, Great Ape Baby Vegeta shoots a super galick gun that he claims will destroy Earth, when Goku is hit by it, he is knocked out to the point that he can't move for a good while, Elder Kai and Shin later state that Baby is going to shoot another blast that will destroy the planet on, greatly injuring Baby if he's caught in the Blast and will kill everyone on the planet if done[253]. Frieza destroyed the entire earth, killing Vegeta in the process[254]. In the Dragon Ball Super Manga, Gohan tells Goku that he doesn't need to hold anything back and can go all out because anything that happens to the Earth can be restored with Dende and the Dragon Balls. Yet, none of Goku's all out attacks destroy the planet but just heavily causes shockwaves around it[255]. Semi-Perfect Cell unleashes a several blast that destroys several islands Android 16 notes that the attacks are just strong enough to not kill Android 18[256].

In the fight of Trunks vs. Mecha Frieza, who is far stronger than his final form, Mecha Frieza immediately goes for his strongest attack, the Supernova. In the original Z anime King Kai even states this is ten times stronger than the power he used on Namek:

  • DBZ Kai Version[257].
  • Original DBZ Anime Version[258]. The attack is directly noted that it could destroy the planet, but doesn't because Trunks catches it, when Mecha Frieza proceeds to detonate it, the explosion is massive but the planet is still intact, implying Frieza must target the core in order to destroy the planet.

  114. The Kaiōshin possess the power of “creation”, which provides stars/planets and life-forms the impetus to be born. The one who possesses the opposing power, and authority, of “destruction”, is the God of Destruction. Through the repetition of destruction of stars/planets continually increasing in numbers, and the birth of new stars/planets, the balance of the entire universe is maintained.
