Introduction
A multiplier is simply a factor that amplifies or increase the base value of something else. A multiplier of 2x, for instance, would double the base figure. A multiplier of 0.5x, on the other hand, would actually reduce the base figure by half. Many different multipliers exist in various different fields. For DebatesJungle we focus on multipliers that amp up one's statistics.
Regulations
Multipliers can be taken as true or false based off how reliable the statement or the feat is.
Multipliers come from direct statements or direct showings such as item amplifiers in games. For example, that if a verse has powerlevels or statistics, the doubling of a statistic or power level could be concluded to correspond to the power of the character doubling or it could not depending on the scenario. These come from two different kinds of amplification. The linear amplification and the exponential amplification.
This also extends to what the multiplier specifically amplifies. For example Bob gets 100 times more powerful, but this does not mean that every one of his statistics are multiplied by 100. It could also very well mean that his fighting technique is 100 times more powerful while his regular strength increases some.
It should also be noted the concept of consistency. If Bob does truly get amplified by 100 times in physical strength and hits Samantha, who in this example was taking hits from him earlier, Samantha should be defeated in one blow. If she is not, that is a clear inconsistency with how much more powerful Bob truly got. Unless of course Samantha has some ability such as Reactive Power Level or Accelerated Development on such a scale she can instantly keep up with an amplified Bob.
For combination attacks, similar standards to multipliers apply. If they have shown clear superiority to an enemy they were previously on par with through a combination attack then the multiplier can be used. If it's shown it barely does anything, there is no multiplier to be used.
Examples
Multipliers without reliable statements
- Dragon Ball Super Saiyan 4 and up Multipliers: Rejected due to never being stated in the actual series. Furthermore often seem to multiply in-universe power levels and not actual power. Power levels are the sum total of every statistic regarding a user and are not linear.
Low Accepted Multipliers
- Mega Man with Power Gear: Accepted due to being a stacking attack that does far more damage and one-shots enemies from before or greatly harms them.
High Accepted Multipliers
- Rushuna Tendou's Stacking Bullets: Accepted due to being directly stated that exponential increase along with it one-shotting armor Rushuna could previously not affect.
