Background

Elizabeth Joestar also known as Lisa Lisa is a major character in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency and is a minor character in the pervious part, Phantom Blood. She is the Hamon master who trained both Joseph Joestar and Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli being the mother of the former.

Phantom Blood (1888-1889) Elizabeth was born in December of 1888. In 1889 her family went on a cruise to the United States of America where they would be attacked by the zombies created by Dio Brando. Elizabeth's mother would die protecting her, falling into the engine room where Jonathan Joestar and Erina Joestar where. Remineded by the death of his own mother, Jonathan would request Erina to save Elizabeth before the ship exploded. As Jonathan grabbed and restrained Dio, Erina and Elizabeth would escape into an explosion proof coffin, leaving Elizabeth, Erina, and the unborn George Joestar II the only human survivors of Dio's attack. Two days after the ships destruction, they would be found near by the Canary Islands. Pre-Battle Tendency (1889-1938) Elizabeth would be adopted by the Hamon user Straizo, and would be trained in Hamon until her eighteenth birthday. During this time Straizo would entrust her to protect the Super Aja. As a young adult Elizabeth would marry George II and would have a son, Joseph Joestar. Unfortunately for Elizabeth, George would be killed by his RAF Commander, who Elizabeth would learn was a zombie created by Dio. Elizabeth would kill the Commander, burning his body with Hamon. However a solider passing by would see Elizabeth kill the Commander, and not knowing anything of Hamon or zombies, would believe Elizabeth was burning the body to hide the evidence. Elizabeth would be branded a traitor by the British government and would have an international warrant for her arrest. With help from Robert E. O. Speedwagon and the Speedwagon Foundation, Elizabeth would escape to Italy, taking the name Lisa Lisa to hide her identity. Due to her leaving, Lisa Lisa's son Joseph would grow up without both of his parents. Sometime later Lisa Lisa would collaborate with Mario Zeppeli to find ways to defeat the slumbering Pillar Men underneath the Roman Colosseum. Mario would be killed by the Pillar Men's trap, saving his estranged son, Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli in the process. Mario would tell Caesar would find Lisa Lisa and to tell her of his death leading to Caesar training in Hamon under Lisa Lisa. Battle Tendency (1938-1939) In 1938 Caesar and Joseph would travel to Venice to find and train under Lisa Lisa. Disguised as a gondolier, Lisa Lisa would recognize her son and would test his Hamon by attacking him before revealing herself as Lisa Lisa. Lisa Lisa would force Joseph to wear a Hamon breathing mask that would force him to breath properly or he would suffocate. Lisa Lisa would then bring Joseph and Caesar to Air Supplena Island and would kick them down the Hell Climb Pillar forcing them to complete the trial. Lisa Lisa would see Joseph trying to use a makeshift rope to escape and would cut it with throwing knifes, telling Joseph that the pillar repels anything that isn't Hamon. Lisa Lisa would witness both Caesar's and Joseph's passing of the trail and would allow Caesar to help Joseph during the final stretch of his climb. Initially, Joseph wanted to get revenge on Lisa Lisa but would be given an upside down glass of water and would be able to contain the water, impressing himself. Joseph would then accept Lisa Lisa as his Hamon master. Lisa Lisa would then subject Joseph and Caesar to three weeks of brutal training under her assistant instructors Messina and Loggins. Near the end of Joseph's and Caesar's training Lisa Lisa would tell them that she had the Super Aja and that if she were too destroy it they would be unable to defeat the Pillar Men. While possessing Lisa Lisa's assistant Suzi Q, Esidisi would steal the Super Aja and would mail it to Kars and would then try to attack Lisa Lisa but would be stopped by Joseph and Caesar. Lisa Lisa would then use her Hamon on Suzi Q and would read her mind, finding out that the Super Aja had been sent to St. Moritz, Switzerland. Lisa Lisa, Joseph, Caesar, and Messina would head to St. Moritz to get the Super Aja before it could fall into the hands of Kars. Once the group reached St. Moritz they would find the train carrying the stone being intercepted by Nazis. The Nazi commander would tell Lisa Lisa that they have been spying on her and would invite the group to their chalet. That same night Kars would nearly steal the stone but would be stopped by Joseph. Following the address Esidisi mailed to, the group would find Kars' lair, an abandoned hotel. Caesar would get into a fight with Joseph prompting him to go Kars' lair despite Lisa Lisa's wishes. Messina would follow Caesar with Lisa Lisa and Joseph following afterwards. Once Lisa Lisa and Joseph reached the hotel they would find that Caesar was killed and Messina was greatly injured. Caesar's death would cause both Lisa Lisa and Joseph to cry but the two would continue to explore the hotel. Lisa Lisa and Joseph would encounter the vampire Wired Beck who Lisa Lisa would defeat with ease. Lisa Lisa and Joseph would enter a large room where Wamuu was healing in. Lisa Lisa would hear dozens of breaths to where Wamuu would reveal that he was hiding Kars and his vampire army with his wind. Before Kars' vampire army could kill the two of them, Lisa Lisa would bluff Kars by telling him that if he were to kill Joseph and her, a time bomb would destroy the Super Aja, which Kars needed to become the ultimate being. Lisa Lisa would negotiate a contest: Joseph and Wamuu would fight each other and Kars and herself would fight each other and who ever won would get the stone, Kars would release Joseph to get the Super Aja. Before the battle Lisa Lisa would reveal to Joseph that she was actually fifty years old and that the vampire Straizo used to be her Hamon master. She would also reveal that she was saved by Erina as a baby. At the Skeleton Heel Stone Joseph and Wamuu would battle with Lisa Lisa and Kars observing. During the battle Lisa Lisa would be offered poisoned by Kars who would tell her that it would be better for her to die a painless death and to fight him. Joseph would defeat Wamuu and Kars would prepare for their battle. Lisa Lisa and Kars would battle at the Piz Berlina Ruin where Kars would offer Lisa Lisa a weapon for the battle. Lisa Lisa would tell Kars that her scarf was all that she needed. During the battle Kars would disappear in a flash of light and when he reappeared Lisa Lisa would strike him with an Hamon infused kicked, seeming killing him. However Lisa Lisa would be stabbed by Kars who would reveal that after he disappear he swapped places with a body double. Kars would reveal to Lisa Lisa that he didn't care if his duel wasn't honorable and that he just wanted the Super Aja. Kars would then strike down Lisa Lisa, knocking her out before coming face-to-face with Joseph. Kars would stab a hole through Lisa Lisa legs and would tie a rope through them before throwing her off the ruins. Joseph would be forced to grab the rope to save Lisa Lisa while evading Kars and would eventually defeat him. Joseph would fight Kars when he became the Ultimate Being and would be presumed to have been killed during a volcanic eruption. Lisa Lisa would attend his funeral only to find out Joseph was alive when he showed up to crash it. Post-Battle Tendency After Joseph's "funeral" Lisa Lisa would reveal to Joseph that she was actually his mother. Lisa Lisa, Joseph, and Suzi Q would move to the United States of America where in 1948 Lisa Lisa would marry a Hollywood screenwriter. Sometime later Joseph would ask Lisa Lisa if his father had the same birthmark as him which she confirmed.

Lisa Lisa decided to train Joseph in Hamon not to save his life but to train him to be strong enough to defeat the Pillar Men. Lisa Lisa put Joseph and Caesar until brutal training such as the Hell Climb Pillar, which if could not escape it by using only Hamon they would die. Despite this Lisa Lisa has shown to care for both Caesar and Joseph, with her being shown to be very sad about Caesar's death and attending Joseph's funeral when he supposably died. Lisa Lisa has also shown to be incredibly brave, staying with Kars so Joseph could get the Super Aja despite the dangers it posed to her)

Kars is also comparable to Wamuu, who can blitz trained soldiers fast enough to create afterimages with Kars also being comparable to Esidisi, who while possessing a human could travel from the bottom of a mansion to one of the higher floors in seconds)

• Hamon: Due to being raised by Straizo, Lisa Lisa trained in Hamon during her youth and would master it. Using her mastery of Hamon, Lisa Lisa would train many students in Hamon including Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli and her son Joseph Joestar. Hamon can be used to amplify the user's strength, heal wounds and diseases, send energy through objects, walk on water, and more. Hamon is especially good at harming vampires as it is their main weakness. Lisa Lisa would notability use Hamon's ability to decrease aging keeping her physically in her twenties.
• Sticking Hamon & Repelling Hamon: As shown by her training methods, Lisa Lisa knows how to use Hamon to stick and repel objects.
• Hamon Hypnosis: Lisa Lisa is able to use Hamon to extract memories from one's subconscious by touching their head. Lisa Lisa is also able to hypnotize living beings by touching them. Lisa Lisa used Hamon Hypnosis on Suzi Q to find the location of the Super Aja which she mailed away when she was possessed by Esidisi.
• Snake Muffler: By using her scarf, Lisa Lisa is able to flip upside down, leaving her scarf standing in place keeping her suspended in the air. Lisa Lisa used this to dodge an attack from Kars' body double.
• Hamon Detector: Lisa Lisa can use her scarf to detect life forms nearby by imbuing it with Hamon.

Weaknesses: If he can't breath he will eventually run out of Hamon. If Lisa Lisa were to use Ultimate Deep Pass Overdrive she will rapidly age until she becomes an old woman.

• Lisa Lisa's name is a refence to the American singer Lisa Lisa and the American band Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam.
• An art piece from the Hirohiko Araki JoJo Exhibition 2012 mistakenly depicts Lisa Lisa with the Joestar birthmark, despite not being related to the Joestars by blood.
• The Street Fighter character Rose is based off of Lisa Lisa with Rose sharing a similar outfit and fighting style to Lisa Lisa. Both characters also like to take baths and Rose's stage, Alpha 2 being located in Venice which is where Lisa Lisa lived during Battle Tendency.
